Chapter 134

The party was winding down.

"Hey Blake, it's time to get going, we've got chores in the morning," Bobby said as he approached Blake and Claire, still sitting in the same seat as before, right next to each other.

"Sure Dad, could you give me a minute?" asked Blake.

"I'll be at the ute. You can have a couple minutes," answered Bobby. He looked at his son and saw that he was interested in Claire. He hoped things would go well for him, but remembered that young love often doesn't last.

"Righto, Dad." said Blake as Bobby walked away to give his son some privacy.

"Claire. Thanks for playing cards with me all night. I really had fun with you." Blake's heart was pounding.

"I had fun playing with you too. We never did figure out who won." said Claire as she smiled at him.

"I quit, so you win." Blake was distracted when Claire smiled. He wasn't sure what had changed about her tonight, but it seemed like something had. She seemed even prettier than before. He didn't want to leave to go home yet. He felt like he could have stayed up all night just talking to her, and playing cards with her.

"Thanks, but you can get me in the rematch, next time." Claire offered.

"Claire, can we still go riding tomorrow? Just the two of us?" he asked.

"Yeah, of course, tomorrow at noon, meet me at the border fence by the Drovers and Killarney gate. It'll be fun, one last ride for you before you go back to your mom's."

"Great, I can't wait." Blake stood up and gave Claire a hug. "Goodbye Claire. I, um, I'm glad we hung out tonight. You're a really cool person. I had fun with you."
