Chapter 138
"Okay guys, I've got this recap," Russell laughed.
"Are you sure you want this one honey? This was the year stuff happened with Dave." Kate said.
"Yeah but that was a long time ago, and you're my wife, so it's okay," explained Russell.
"Okay, go for it then honey," said Kate.
"Alright where were we, oh yes, Everyone thinks Nick is dead and Jodi confirms she is Tess's sister. Tess doesn't take the news as well as Jodi hopes. Stevie is waiting for Alex to return from his bender in the city so she can tell him she loves him, but when he gets back he is engaged to the vile Fiona. Stevie decides to mend her broken heart by doing the logical thing and sleeping with a younger guy. The younger guy turns out to be a total tosser and sprays pesticides on Drovers Run as revenge for Stevie not wanting to sleep with him anymore. That is a financial disaster because they had a bunch of organic contracts they lost. Tess warmed up to the idea of having Jodi for a sister and gave her an equal share in Drovers and they started trying to figure out some sort of sister relationship. Kate came up with an idea to help the farm called Gungellan Fresh Beef, which should help the farm, but people on the Farmers Council won't listen to her and Jodi because they are young and female.
Then miraculously, Nick is alive! Instead of being killed in a plane crash, he was mugged with his ID stolen and left in a coma in Argentina. Hooray! Nick comes home, but he now randomly hates Australia and despite his wife being heavily pregnant and in financial distress, and that he would have to miss his only brother's wedding, he decides that the thing to do would be to move back across the world to Argentina right then, so he can make an important presentation for a job he had already contractually finished. Tess, you love him and want him to be happy, so you go too. Meanwhile, Jodi is starting to really like Rob, who isn't gay, and she is learning more about his sceret that he isn't Rob at all but is really Matt and is in the witness protection program. Unfortunately, the bad guys find him and shoot him and Jodi has to guide him through the wilderness while he is suffering from a gunshot wound. They make it back to Drovers, and Matt wants to kill the guy who murdered his wife and young son, but doesn't, because Jodi convinces him not to. Rob/Matt goes back into the witness protection program and Jodi is heartbroken.
Meg marries Terry and they go off on an epic road trip. Regan comes back and is way less of a bitch than the last time, you guys actually like her now. The Gungellan Fresh plan is working and they have a big business meeting with a bunch of Japanese people, but on the way to the meeting, Jodi crashed her car head on into Harry Ryan who was on the wrong side of the road. Jodi thinks she killed him, but she didn't. He was dead before the crash from a heart attack. More on that later. Nick won't come home for his father's funeral because Tess is going to have a baby any time now, which is why moving to Argentina when they did was such a good plan in the first place. Then Alex married the awful Fiona, and Nick still won't come home for a visit for his brother's wedding.
This new guy shows up and he trains horses and stuff, and the girls all think he's super dreamy, except Jodi who doesn't really like him at first. It turns out that Harry was murdered and Kate decides to go full Kate mode and investigates Harry's murder. Many people, including my wife, think that Stevie might have done it, even though Stevie would never do such a thing. Kate, you're seeing Patrick again, but focus on a murder investigation instead of your boyfriend. Alex figures out that Fiona was a lying sack of shit, and starts to realize his feelings for Stevie, but is still married to Fiona.
Stevie gets off for Harry's murder and Riley and Jodi now start to hit it off a bit, but then Rob/Matt comes back. Riley confesses his love for Jodi, but she stops him because she realizes she still loves Rob/Matt. Patrick and Jodi fight over who knows Kate the best, but it's actually Dave who knows all the answers. Dave decides to move to Africa, but on his way out the door, finally realizes how amazing Kate is and that he loves her, and they go to Africa together." Russell finished with a bow.
"Wow, each year just got crazier than the last. I guess everything went full soap opera after I left Drovers Run. This has been very entertaining. A lot of new people seemed to start coming and going on Drovers Run after Tess and Nick left, it really became a lot to follow. I'm sure the remaining years were very interesting too and that all the new people are lovely, but it's getting late and we need to get home. We have a long drive. This was wonderful. Tess, Thank you for inviting us. Jodi, I won't be a stranger any more. And please tell Stevie that we will see her and Xander at States. Danny is training hard and I'm sure Xander is too." said Becky "Rob/Matt, Kate, Russell, it was wonderful to meet all of you. Jodi, Tess, thank you. Thank you for what you did for me back then and for inviting us now. I would really like to keep in touch," said Becky.
"Are you sure you can make the trip back to Fisher? You can take your old room in the shearers quarters if you want it," Jodi offered.
"Emma and Danny are home. I don't want to leave them overnight. We'll be okay to drive," Becky responded.
"Are you sure you don't want a coffee or a cuppa for the road?" offered Tess.
"We'll be fine, we do long drives nearly every weekend with the kids for rodeos," Jake countered.
"Okay, then drive safe. It was great to catch up." Jodi offered.
"Bye! Thank you!" they said as Becky and Jake left.
"Well I guess we sort of lost our audience after my 6th season at Drovers," Tess joked.
"I reckon it's because you left. You always were the heart of it." Kate joked.
