Morning yall! It's that time of the day where I suddenly remember that oh! I was supposed to post something! So anyway, here's some honesty for todayyyyyyyy
Ven twisted his fingers, again and again. His stomach hurt. He had thought about this for nights, losing sleep over this, but he knew he should do it.
It was time for Terra and Aqua to know the truth.
It felt wrong, as if he had been lying to them since the beginning, when he had only started remembering things as of late. He felt guilty of having such a complicated past, of having so much to tell them. And he was scared they would see him differently, that their relationship would change.
But no matter what, he owed them that much.
"Ven, you asked to talk to us?" Aqua's soft voice only made the knots in his stomach tighter.
"This looks so formal, everything okay?" Even Terra's warm voice wasn't enough to stop him from feeling so cold on the inside.
"Thank you for coming. What I have to tell you is extremely important… But it's also a very long story. One I would like to be able to tell from the beginning to the end without interruption, if you don't mind."
"Of course. Take all the time you want."
They sat on the couch facing him, their faces kind and encouraging. They probably knew what the topic would be. He took a deep breath, trying to hide the fact that he was shaking. He was terrified.
"Where should I begin… My name is Ventus. Ven for short. That much, you know already, of course. But I think this might be the only thing you know about me… You truly know about me. See, I wasn't born in any world you might know. I was born in the World, back when it was one. I believe that time is now called The Age of Fairytales. A world that had yet to know the Keyblade War."
He spoke, and spoke again, about the Dandelions, about his friends, about the book of prophecy. He told them he wasn't a chosen leader. He told them about Strelitzia, who had been chosen. He told them she died. He told them she killed her.
Many times, he saw them react, wanting to say something, but they kept quiet. He was grateful for that.
He told them about Darkness, he told them about what hid inside him. Told them about how this was probably where Vanitas was from. He told them about the war, about friends fighting one another. Told them how Chirithies protected them, died with them. He told them about the Masters who went missing. He told them about the data world, and about the end of that too. He told them about the pods. The last time he saw his friends.
"Next thing I know is I woke up by Master Xehanort's side… Where he trained me, created Vanitas, and sent me to you. That part you know."
Terra tried to say something but Ven smiled sadly, shaking his head.
"I'm not done yet. Almost, but not quite. Surely you remember the Organization XIII, the ones in black coats whom we fought several times, led by Xehanort."
He told them about the Master of Masters, his keyblade and his coat. But he also told them about his dear friend Lauriam, whose sister Ven killed. About the man known under the name of Marluxia. Of his acolyte Larxene. Of the girl Lauriam had befriended, Elrena.
"When I realised they were safe, I was relieved. They probably lost their memories, the way I did. But if I can remember, that means that they might as well. I know that finding Sora should be our priority, but… If they're fine, then maybe the other ones are too. I have to find them. All of them. I need to know what happened to them, to us. I need to make sure everyone is safe."
He wasn't sure when tears had started rolling down his cheeks, but he didn't mind. He had to be honest about his past, his objectives, and his feelings.
"I'm not asking you to come with me. Actually, I'm asking you not to. This is something I have to do on my own. I don't know how long I'll be gone. I don't know if there's a coming back. But I want to find them… I need to. I've made up my mind. I'll be leaving this afternoon. Before I get too scared to actually go."
His words acted like a knife right into Aqua's and Terra's hearts. He could see it on their faces. But this was the right thing to do.
They were silent for a moment, all three of them. Then Aqua said one thing, four words in a shaking voice.
"Please write to us."
His resolve shattered into pieces, and he ran into their arms. They kept their embrace for a very long time, not exchanging a single word, but rivers of tears and love. That was when Ven knew.
There would definitely be a coming back.
Tomorrow will be about Soulmate. May you find yours~~
