Chris sucked in a deep breath. Suddenly feeling relieved as she felt Street slide an arm around her and kiss her cheek with a,

"Hey, you made it." He looked at her closely, a bit nervous. "You okay?"

She tilted her head, knowing that while the situation was weird and complicated it was a step in the right direction. Before she could verbalise her thoughts, she felt him gently squeeze her hand.

"Hey, I got you. I'm here. If this gets weird, we can go and …"

"No, no." She cut in shaking her head. "I am okay, I just…"

"What?" He asked watching her start to smile. She shook her head a little at herself.

"Who would have ever thought that we would end up here? Like this?" She looked at their hands and then smiled back at him. "Here, with a way to make this work out." She added making him lean over and kiss her softly.

"I love you Chris, I really do." He whispered as he drew back.

"I know, and I love you." She smiled widely. "God when did we turn into this gushy couple." She laughed still holding both his hands and smiling up at him.

"Hey, I don't want it any other way." He answered pulling her in to hug her as he placed a tender kiss on her forehead. Chris smiled and laid her head on his chest. The noise of giggling coming towards them made her stand up and look about. That is when she saw, Samuel and Lila approaching.

"Ohhhhhh, are you two gunna get married?" Lila giggled as Samuel made kissing noises.

"Hey, don't make me chase you and tickle you both," Street glared at them playfully as he started to chase them, causing them to let out delightful squeals, running and laughing off down the grass. Chris folded her arms and chuckled softly watching it.

"You ah, haven't looked this happy for a while." Deac's voice made her turn. She eyed him and nodded.

"Yeah, I know." She answered as they both turned and stood watching the children playing with Street.

"I am glad it all worked out. Even if the new arrangement could be slightly awkward?" He eyed her questioningly, nodding over towards Jared and Caitlin.

"It's um, it's not that bad I guess, I will get used to it." She answered as Annie came towards them to join in.

"So, where's Street's cake?" She asked clapping her hands excitedly.

"Still in the backseat of my truck." She answered pointing to where it was parked. As she began to turn back, she saw Jared and Caitlin coming back towards them.

"Hi," Jared smiled approaching, looking at Deacon, "Nice to see you again Sgt. Kay."

"Oh please," Deacon shook his hand. "Call me Deacon." To which Jared nodded and Deacon continued. "This is my wife Annie, who I think you met with the kids earlier."

"Yes, I did," he smiled, "you have a beautiful family."

"Thank you." Annie said as she turned her attention to a fidgeting Caitlin.

"Hi, I'm Annie," She extended her hand across the circle.

"Caitlin," She answered smiling and shaking Annie's hand. And again, giving Chris a small smile and nod. Annie watched Chris a little. She was worried about how this would make her feel.

"The LAPD sure know how to throw a good family picnic huh?" He smiled.

"Yeah, the kids love it." Deacon smiled watching the groups of kids running circles around Street as he began to ask Jared about the new taskforce. Meanwhile, Chris turned to Caitlin who still looked incredibly nervous.

"Danielle, seems to be enjoying herself with all those kids around." She said with a kind smile. Caitlin looked up a little surprised that Chris was so friendly and open.

"Yeah, I mean she's an only child so someone to play with, besides a grown up, is a novelty."

Annie smiled hearing it. "Well," she widened her eyes and nodded to Jared, "Maybe someday she won't be an only child." Caitlin looked a little embarrassed as her cheeks blushed, and she dropped her eyes chewing her lip. Chris saw her awkwardness and touched her arm lightly.

"Hey, there are no hard feelings at all," she said waiting for her to look up. Caitlin looked a bit surprised. "I mean it. I am happy you are both happy. And well I found my own happy, which I wouldn't have done without Jared." Chris laughed as Caitlin nodded and smiled,

"Thank you Chris, and I guess I should be thankful too, because all of that, bought him back to me." Chris smiled and patted her arm with a nod.

"And I think you two would make an adorable little bunch of football players." Annie added with a smirk looking back to the kids.

"We what?' Jared asked hearing it, as he and Deacon had finished their conversation. His eyes were wide, and he wore a confused expression looking between Annie and Caitlin.

"The team might need a few more players in the years to come, is all." Annie smirked. "I mean yes we have one baby Tan on the way," She smiled towards Bonnie and Victor under the tree, "But we need more little ones in the ranks."

"Well, I mean, it's not just up to us," he eyed Chris and grinned at her, looking back out to Street. "With Streets arm and your speed, I'm sure a few tiny versions of you two would help too." They all laughed, and Chris smiled. She caught Jared's gaze and she saw the kindness and warmth that had attracted her to him in the first place. She mouthed "Thank you" at him and he gave her a wink and a nod.

"We um, better get this cooler to our table over there," Jared pointed and soon he and Caitlin had walked away.

"So, not so bad." Annie eyed her and grinned at Deacon.

"No, I guess not." She smiled. "That was actually pleasant." She nodded.

"Okay okay, back to the important stuff. The cake?" Annie began looking back at Chris.

"Yeah, right, well, we will have to distract him to get it out and set it up and.."

"Well," Annie smiled. "I think that is your job now." She grabbed Chris's shoulders and turned her towards the kids and Street. "Go play, have fun and we will set it all up." She said encouragingly.

"Okay, thanks." Chris laughed and jogged towards them.
