Chapter 175

As Ben pulled the ute and horse trailer up by the stable, he saw a car pull up in front of the house.

Ben put the car in park and the three sisters jumped out to take care of their horses. Someone got out of the car and started walking towards them. Ben looked closer and realized he knew who it was.

"Gavin? What are you doing here?" asked Ben.

Jaz, Regan and Grace heard what Ben said and looked at each other. Ben didn't know about the divorce or the cheating. He thought it was just Grace's husband showing up to join the family holiday.

"Get back in the car and drive away Gavin. You aren't welcome here anymore," said Jaz as she ran out from behind the trailer. Ben shot her a confused look.

"I just want to talk to Grace, please, just for a few minutes," asked Gavin.

"Who says she wants to talk to you?" said Regan as she walked out from behind the horse trailer "Trust me, now is really not the time to fuck with us. We had a really shitty afternoon dealing with an asshole, I don't feel like dealing with another one." Regan said as she walked right up to him and got right into his face.

"I just need to talk to Grace, please. She's my wife," pleaded Gavin.

Following the girls cue, Ben stepped up next to Regan. Go sit in your car and wait. If she wants to talk to you, she will come outside in a few minutes. If she doesn't, I'll come back out and you can leave. Do you understand?" asked Ben.

"That's fine. I just need to talk to her, just see her for a few minutes," said Gavin as he turned around and walked back to his car.

Ben turned around and quietly said to Jaz and Regan "Can you fill me in here please?"

"Gavin cheated, Grace threw him out, they're divorcing. That's why she's here alone," said Jaz."She told me on the ride last night."

Grace heard all of this from behind the trailer and was grateful for the way her family came to her defense. She knew they were trying to protect her.

"Why not just add seeing my cheating, soon to be ex-husband to the list along with being held hostage at gunpoint of shitty things I had to do today, and for the record, I'm still hung over too. He picked the wrong day to show up unannounced. I'll talk to him. He will only come back another day if I won't talk to him now." Grace said, shaking her head and walking to join her sisters. "Can you guys take care of Crackers for me? I'll go deal with him."

"Do you want us to come with you?" asked Jaz. "I can just stand there, and not say anything, you know, just be there giving you support."

"Thanks, but I can handle this. I spent about time with a gun pointed at the back of my head today. Compared to that, Gavin is nothing," said Grace as she walked away from her sisters and over to his car.

"So what do you want Gavin? How dare you show up to my family home like this. You don't get to just show up here anymore. You're not welcome here anymore. You're not my family anymore, Gavin."

"Grace, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything, all of it. I'm sorry for showing up here, but I had to see you. I'm sorry for cheating on you. It only happened a couple times and it was the dumbest thing I've ever done. I know I hurt you, and I'm so sorry. Hurting you was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I'm so sorry. I love you Grace. You're my wife. I need to be with you. I'm useless without you. None of our friends will see me because of what I did to you. My brother told me I was an idiot and I realized I was. Please, take me back. Grace, I was a complete fool. I had the perfect woman and I gave you up for nothing. She meant nothing to me. She is nothing compared to you. I miss having you around. I miss your warmth. I don't know what I was thinking, Grace. As if any other woman in the world could hold a candle to you, I know now they can't," said Gavin as he blinked back tears.

"Gavin, go home. We're done. It's over. You made sure of that. I didn't fuck someone else, you did," said Grace.

"No Grace, please, I'm the biggest idiot in the world. I know that now, but I'm still your husband. Please, just give me another chance to be the husband you deserve. We can work through this. I'll do it right this time. I'll spend every day just trying to make you happy. I love you Grace. I need you. Please come back home to Perth with me, I'll get our flat back. Or we can stay here. I'll move here, to Wilgul. I don't care, I'll go wherever you are, just let me be with you again. This has been the worst month of my life, being apart from you. It's like a part of my soul is missing. I miss your warmth. I didn't realize how cold my life is without you in it. Do you think you can ever forgive me?" begged Gavin as tears streamed down his face.

"Gavin. I don't love you anymore. I don't want to be with you. I want you to leave and never come back here. We're finished, there's nothing left in our marriage. I loved you, but you ripped my heart out when you betrayed our vows. I can never be with someone I don't trust, and I'll never trust you again. Do you understand?" said Grace.

"No. it's not over, please, just give me another chance. I won't do it again. I won't hurt you again, I promise. Please Grace. I can't lose you. Please. I'm so sorry." sobbed Gavin, realizing he wouldn't be able to get her back, to fix what he had destroyed.

"Gavin, let me be very clear. I gave up who I was for you. I gave up campdrafting and horses, and country life for you. I moved to the opposite side of the country, away from my family and everything I knew and loved, for you. I literally did everything I could think of to make you love me, and it still wasn't enough. You don't love me, the real me, you miss the puppet I had become for you. I got a fucking desk job for you because I loved you and I wanted you to be happy. I lived across the continent from my sisters and cousins to make you happy and what did you do for me? You fucked someone else. You broke the vows we made to each other. You lied to me, you betrayed me, and in our home, in our bed. You humiliated me. You made your choices, Gavin, now you need to live with the consequences. It's over, there's nothing left of this marriage. I don't love you anymore and I never will again. I'll never trust you. Now get in your car, and leave my family's home, because you are no longer my family," commanded Grace.

Gavin got back in his car and started it. He drove off and Grace went inside to join her family.
