Sorry, I didn't get to post the chapter that I wanted, it's still in the works so there's this small drabble a sort of Buttercup pov...
Buttercup delicately put his paw in the snow. The snow was piled everywhere in the district, and he hated it.
"Merooow," he grumbled as he made his way through the district. He'd been chasing after a mouse. Fresh meat was so hard to find these days and he had to do the impossible to catch the small little tidbit.
He sniffed the cold air indignantly. Buttercup haughtily thought felines were not fond of the snow, ice, and cold, his kind could adapt, if they wanted. Felines enjoyed and lived for the warmth of the sun and grassy knolls in the lush meadow that teamed with yummy treats. At least his human gave him food; there were other felines that were not so lucky. Their humans disappeared and those poor kitties ended up like frozen pillars.
Buttercup shuddered as he walked from town. Hoping from the fence to the roof of the bakery, he sat on a flat surface of the roof the weak sunlight warmed the tile. Buttercup basked for a moment in the sun. He saw the boy, the one his human's sister liked to rub noses with. These days she smelled like him, which in his opinion was a good thing. Normally she smelled rotten to him.
Humans had silly mating rituals. Buttercup angled his face, he watched the boy. He was smiling and whistling, such a contrast to that foul faced sister of his human. The only time she didn't scowl was when she was around his human or the boy. Buttercup swished his tail as he pondered why humans couldn't be more like cats. Though humans and felines shared similar traits, humans liked to be petted just like cats. The sister of his human liked for the boy to pet her a lot. Buttercup spied her rubbing herself on the boy one evening when he was chasing that darned squirrel. His human's sister was happier after she saw the boy, she even gave him more of her food, he supposed that was the benefit to the mutual rubbing between the boy and his human's sister.
Buttercup sniffed his paw, and it wreaked, he cleaned himself.
Once done with his bath he stretched and saw another boy staring at the window the neighboring house. From where he sat he could smell the male was in heat and there was another dominant male present inside of the house. Bored he went to investigate. Buttercup neared the house and sat up on one of the snow bank watching.
Jackson paced back and forth; he ran his hands through his hair. He couldn't understand why after his message no one did anything about Gale Hawthorne. Gale was inside of Delly's home with his family.
Snow fell on his head. And looking up he saw no one but the ledge of the roof had a lot of snow. He brushed the snow off of his head. He paced once more when he saw Gale tug Delly out of the room, he could hear her laughter could from the exterior.
The fact that Gale knew about the contract agitated Jackson but still perused Delly. He even made her laugh. Gale found excuses to put his hands-on Delly, by pushing her hair away from her face, grasping her hand, tickling her, rubbing her arm, running his hand down her shoulder, and Jackson's least favorite thing, the way Gale embraced Delly. A full body hung as if he was imprinting his scent on her.
He paced and as he did so; he thought to himself perhaps it was time to go to send out a message. As he moved suddenly, he caught the sight of something flying at him. Stupefied he stood there.
He was bored sitting on the mound of snow watching the human pace. He wondered what he could do to entertain himself. First, he climbed up on the roof and pushed a small pile of snow at the human from above, but he was so wrapped up in watching the occurrences inside of the house he did not react. Finally, he found he could amuse himself by landing on top of the human's face. Buttercup flew mid-air toward the human.
"Agggh," the human cried as Buttercup landed on top of him.
The human lost balance.
"Rrrryeahoooowwwww," Buttercup screeched as the human fell backward into the freshly fallen snow.
The human moaned. Gracefully Buttercup landed, bored once more. He slowly looked down into the hole the human-made. The human's eyes were closed, but he was breathing. Bored once more Buttercup headed home. He wanted to warm up in his human's lap at least that was never boring.
