The three girls rushed back towards the twin's bedroom because they heard someone approaching fast. When they reached it, they shut the door, and Hope quickly put up a muffling spell that took far too long in comparison to how she could do it in the past.

Lizzie jumped on her bed as she prepared them for what she was about to say. Hope and Josie followed and once they were settled, they looked at the blonde expectantly.

"You know how we were magical baby transplants?" She said, looking at Josie.

"Yeah, did that not happen?" Josie asked as Hope frowned at them both.

Like she could talk, her dad went from dead and infertile to still dead, but very fertile.

"Nope," Lizzie said, sighing. "From what I can tell either that spell doesn't exist here or we - or is it our cousins - were already dead by the time they were able to do a spell."

"So, if they wanted the coven to survive, they had to do a different spell," Hope said, softly, breathing out through her nose.

"And that new spell used the coven leader and a person they had sex with to make twins," Lizzie said as she made a face at the thought.

"Mom and Uncle Kai had sex?" Josie said, looking horrified.

Gross, she really didn't need that image in her mind.

She'd already seen enough in the vision.

Where was bleach when you needed it?

Lizzie's nose wrinkled. "Well, mom and dad had sex," She corrected.

That was such a horrifying thought.

"That didn't even happen in our universe," Hope muttered, making Lizzie gag at the idea of Caroline Forbes and Alaric Saltzman being touchy.

She couldn't even imagine it and she didn't even want to.

"Ew," Josie said, looking as grossed out as Lizzie felt.

"Wait," Hope said, looking confused. "How did the Gemini Coven even know that he had sex with someone?"

Both of the twins paused.

"I don't know," Lizzie said, uncertain.

Josie made another face. "That's creepy if they knew."

"Also, weird, because you'd think they would know if it was a vampire," Hope said, frowning. When the twins looked at her, she clarified. "Witches wouldn't like the idea of hybrids."

Lizzie nodded in understanding. "No, they wouldn't."

Josie looked at Lizzie. "How are we hybrids?" She asked.

"Well, our mom's a vampire and we're still siphoners like our new pops, so I'd guess that we have vampire blood similar to Hope," Lizzie explained.

"So, if you die, you'll turn like me," Hope said, looking between them.

At least, they wouldn't have to worry about drinking vampire blood as a precaution - it was already in their system.

"What if that's why we're considered abominations?" Josie theorized.

"What do you mean?" Lizzie asked.

"Not because we're siphoners, but because we're hybrids," Josie said, looking between the two.

"Think about it, Hope was hidden in our world, so she wouldn't be treated differently. What if that didn't happen for us here."

"Well, the school definitely seems to know way too much about you two, so that's not a stretch," Hope said, brushing her hair out of her face with her hand.

Lizzie had a smile on her face, making the other two girls give her a confused look. When she noticed their looks, she rolled her eyes.

"Mom is our mom," Lizzie said with a grin. "We're literally her bio children. That's kind of awesome."

Josie immediately smiled back. "I didn't even think about that. It is cool," She admitted.

Lizzie clasped her hands. "I know mom was already our mom before but…"

"I know," Josie said, simply. There was an understanding that only the twins could comprehend. "It's nice to know that it's the parent that cares, rather than the one that doesn't."

"Can you imagine if we lost mom instead of dad?" Lizzie wondered, making a face.

Josie shook her head. "I don't even want to think about that."

Hope was staring between the twins in confusion. "Girls, did something happen with Dr. Saltzman?" She asked, trying to understand what they weren't saying.

"Don't even get me started," Lizzie said, exasperated.

"We'll tell you later, Hope," Josie said, shaking her head.

"You better," She muttered.

"So, what now? How do we move forward?" Josie said after a moment of silence.

"We need a plan," Hope said.

"For what? How to get home?" Lizzie asked.

Was that even possible? The twins weren't even sure how they got here in the first place.

Something flickered in Hope's eyes. "I don't know if we can," She said.

"What do you mean?" Josie asked, turning fully to Hope.

"From what you told me, I don't think this is a reversible spell," Hope said, sighing. "Even repeating the spell would just cause us to end up in another universe."

"What if we changed the spell to target our universe?" Lizzie said, frowning.

"Wait, when did we decide that this was an alternate universe," Josie said, cutting in.

They turned to her. "Jo, it's kind of obvious, look around," Lizzie said, pointedly.

Hope focused on Lizzie again. "We can't change the spell, we don't have anything to target our universe. Even our blood is from this universe. Only our minds are different."

"Maybe there's a way to use our minds or souls, though," Lizzie countered.

Hope shook her head. "I don't think there is."

"So, we're trapped." They turned to Josie, who had a kicked puppy look on her face. "We can't leave. Go home. Or do anything?"

"I don't think so, but if you can find me the spell to look at, I can check," Hope said, reaching for her hand.

"And if there's nothing…we have to learn how to live here, but at least, we have each other, right?" Lizzie said, grabbing her twin's other hand.

Josie nodded, but Lizzie could see the sadness in her eyes.

"If there's no way to leave, we'll have to do something about our younger selves," Hope said after a moment.

Lizzie felt a jolt of fear from within and sent a soothing feeling toward her.

"How?" Josie asked, making a face that told Lizzie that her younger self was reacting as well.

"Well, ironically, it would be kind of like merging," Hope said, wincing.

Lizzie snorted. "Of course, we still have to merge, just not Jo and I," She said, shaking her head.

"That's only if there's no way to leave," Josie pointed out.

Lizzie's eyes flickered to Hope, who once again had a weird look in her eyes. That was when she realized that Hope really didn't think there was a way to fix this.

Shit, they really fucked up, didn't they?

Then, she paused. "Wait, if we're hybrids, will there still be a merge?" Lizzie asked, curious.

The other two paused as well. "I..don't know," Hope said, uncertain.

Josie frowned. "Probably, unless we activate our vampire sides before the deadline."

"Huh…" That was useful to know.

"That reminds me, did your uncle turned dad try to kill you here?" Hope asked, looking at Lizzie.

Lizzie paused. "He doesn't know."

"What?" Josie said, confused. "What doesn't he know?"

"He assumed we were Jo and Alaric's," Lizzie said. "And mom didn't correct him."

"So, he still went after you two," Hope said in understanding.

"Yep," Lizzie said, nodding.

"Well, that's good to know," Josie said, rubbing a hand down her face.

"Now, we move to the next part," Lizzie said after a moment of silence. The other two looked over at her in confusion.

Josie's eyebrows furrowed, showing her confusion, while Hope looked at Lizzie curiously.

"Next part?" Hope repeated and Lizzie nodded.

"We need to see if we can find the book with the spell," She said, looking at the two.

"Will the school even have it yet?" Hope asked, uncertain.

"It was at the school in our universe around this time," Josie said, slowly. "So, if it exists, it probably is here."

"And if it's not?"

The twins exchanged looks. "We should be able to use the residue of the magic to see if we can track it," Lizzie said.

"And if that doesn't work?" Hope pushed.

"If it doesn't work, then it's probably not here," Josie said for her sister.

"Which means we can't go home," Lizzie finished.

"Ok," Hope said, nodding. "Let's go."

And with that, Lizzie walked towards the library, dragging both Hope and Josie by their hands. They were probably going to be spending way too much time there for the next few days.

If they weren't able to find the book or use magic to find it, they would have to figure out how to merge with their younger self, so their minds became settled.

Although, that was the last resort because it meant they weren't going home.

When Lizzie turned the corner she came to a sudden halt as Caroline Forbes came into her line of vision.

"Mom," She said in surprise.

"Lizzie," She said, smiling, then her eyes went to the other two, focusing mainly on Hope. "Josie, Hope. What are you three doing?"

The look on her face was enough to tell Lizzie that the twins weren't friends with Hope in this universe either.

That was a good thing to know.

"We're going to the library," Lizzie said, trying to ignore the weirdness of this.

It was just her mom, but it wasn't the same one they knew. This Caroline thought they were literal children.

And Lizzie didn't like the idea of being treated like a child.

Caroline looked between them for a moment, something warm and happy appearing in her eyes. "Of course, have fun and try not to get into trouble."

Lizzie opened her mouth to disagree with the trouble comment, but Josie squeezed her hand. "We will, mom. Bye, love you."

Then, the three were off.

"Your mom doesn't seem that different," Hope said, once they were far enough away.

"No, she doesn't," Lizzie said in agreement.

Josie turned to them. "That's a good thing though, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it means mom isn't buying into the school's rhetoric," Lizzie said as they reached the library.

Once they were there, Lizzie went to the place where the book was supposed to be. Keyword: supposed.

The book wasn't there.

"Okay, this isn't the end of the world," Josie said, swallowing nervously. "Let's do the spell to try and locate it."

And surprise, surprise, the spell worked.

And failed.

Which meant the book either didn't exist or was hidden under powerful magic.

Either way, they were screwed.

The look on Josie's face said it all.

Over the next few days, they tried a few other ways to locate the book, but they found nothing. They even tried a dark spell that caused visions to see if it could tell them where the book was.

It showed nothing.

And the spell wasn't even worth it because it triggered Ms. Tig's alarm. So, they were now grounded.

Luckily, playing dumb kids that weren't aware of what they were messing with worked amazingly.

And even though Caroline was upset about the dark magic, she seemed relieved that they were making friends with Hope.

During this time they learned that Hope was going by the name Marshall like in their universe and that everything that happened in their universe with her was the same here.

Eventually, they found a spell to do the merging with their younger selves, which Josie was reluctant to do.

It was something they couldn't undo, but what choice did they have. They had two people in their minds and it was like they were battling for control.

It was causing outbursts that they couldn't control. Both Lizzie and Hope were used to this happening, but Josie was not.

Although, this did seem to make Josie more aware of the difficulties that they dealt with because of the heightened emotions.

After a day of searching, they found a soul-searching spell that Hope tweaked a bit to work for their situation.

The next day, only one person remained in their minds.

However, an unexpected side effect was some of the memories of their lives in this universe, which took a bit to process.

Although, it revealed a lot of the differences between their universe and here.

Lizzie and Josie still had all the same aunts and uncles. Although, Alaric was now an uncle that both seemed to resent and love them.

Their other-selves never spent much time with him.

Aunt Bonnie was much more prominent in their lives. Lizzie wasn't sure why, but she guessed it was either because she didn't want them to turn out like their uncl- dad or maybe because their mom was a single parent to magical twins.

Aunt Elena was nice to them, but they were definitely closer to her in their universe. They also learned that little Stefanie Salvatore was 2, which meant she was born at the same time as the one in their universe.

They had never really interacted with their cousin in their universe because she was 5 years younger and not supernatural. Besides in both universes, Aunt Elena and Uncle Damon seemed to want to keep her away from this type of life.

Which was honestly fair if you considered everything that ended up happening.

Uncle Damon was probably the most similar to their version. He doted on them and didn't seem to care about their paternal heritage.

That was surprising until Josie pointed out that their Uncle Stefan was probably more involved with their lives than in their universe since they didn't have a dad raising them here.

It was a fair point and probably meant that Uncle Damon wouldn't be treating them any different. Secretly, Lizzie hoped that meant that they would still get his car for the twins' 16th birthday.

If not, she would riot.

They also learned that originally the school didn't know about their dad, but apparently, one of the psychic witches touched them and had a vision of the past that involved their new and potentially improved dad.

Then, she spread it to the entire school and fed into the notion that the twins would be just like their father.

It didn't help that Lizzie's bipolar diagnosis got leaked.

Although, said diagnosis did happen earlier than in their universe. Originally, she had been 11 when she learned she was bipolar yet it was when she was 6 here.

Josie's best guess was that because of their dubious parentage, Lizzie's temperamental behavior was more of a concern, which led to her getting diagnosed earlier.

Now, Lizzie and Josie were hanging out in Hope's room as she dashed around.

Lizzie felt her confusion grow as Hope grabbed some stuff and began putting them in a backpack. She noticed that Hope had a look of pure determination on her face.

Well, that wasn't a good sign. She exchanged a wary look with her twin as they watched Hope go around her room.

"Hope, what are you planning?" Josie asked, frowning at the other girl in concern.

"I'm planning-," She paused as she picked something off the floor that fell, "on finding my dad."

"Say what now?" Lizzie said out loud in disbelief.

Well, shit.

Hope really needed to run things by them before she did them.

There was no way that this was going to end well in any way, shape, or form. Not that Lizzie could blame her for wanting to find her dad.

A part of her was itching to use the ascendant that Josie stole from the office, even though she knew it was a terrible idea.

Then again, it's not like they could mess up worse than they already had.

Who knows, maybe Kai Parker and Klaus Mikaelson will be a lot nicer than what she assumed they were.

And if they're not.

Well, guess there's one good thing about being natural-born vampires. Although, the idea of being 7 forever was not appealing.

Besides, what could go wrong with hunting down the original hybrid as children?

Glancing toward her twin, she could see that Josie had realized what she had. Hope wasn't going to back out of this and the twins certainly weren't going to stop.

Meaning it was road trip time.

Fuck, they really needed an adult.

If this went wrong, the blame was completely on Hope Andrea Mikaelson.
