Now that I finished writing Wings of Heart and Gold, a sequel to The Redemption of a Cowboy Imp, I decided it'd be interesting to write this fic, Tranquilized. One Helluva Happy Family was the winning poll on DeviantArt, but decided to work on Tranquilized.
Chapter 1
It was a dreary morning in Imp City in the I.M.P. building in the Pride ring.
Blitzo sighed, knowing that gloomy days were supposed to make people tired. He may be up for the kill, but sometimes when the weather outside is dreary, he, too, can be tired.
"Alright, we all know that it's gloomy outside, which can make people very tired, whether or not we're up for the kill," Blitzo announced.
"Is it naptime?" Striker asked sleepily, his head on the table. He started to close his eyes.
"No, Daddy! It's awake time!" Jake giggled and tapped him on the shoulder to awaken his father, who smiled tiredly at him.
"Aww," Kaitlin cooed, finding the scene adorable. Then she kissed Striker on the cheek, in case he fell asleep again.
"Hey, Strikes, I didn't drink coffee this morning," Blitzo told him.
It took Striker a couple seconds to realize that he didn't drink coffee this morning, either. "Oh, shit. Me, either."
"Alrighty, let's head over to my office to get some."
Striker got out of his chair to follow Blitzo on their way to his office.
Blitzo yawned as he made coffee. "Fuck. Don't you just love gloomy mornings?" he asked sarcastically.
"Yeah," Striker sarcastically agreed.
"It makes you just want to take a nap and you'd feel a lot better."
"Exactly."
Blitzo finished making coffee for Striker and handed the mug of coffee to Striker. Then the former made himself coffee. When finished, he poured himself a cup and started to sip it.
Striker sipped his.
"Our clients are counting on us to kill a bunch of people."
"True and we can't let them down. That's why we're having coffee in order to have enough energy to kill their enemies."
"That's right."
…
"Jake, I don't blame your dad for being tired on days like this because I can be tired on those days, too," Kaitlin told her stepson.
"Yeah. I'm kind of tired, too," Jake sighed.
"I'm ready for a nap," Loona said, her eyes on her phone.
"Then put the phone away," Millie suggested.
"Did you know that if you avoid going on your phone 30 minutes before REM, you don't lose sleep?" Moxxie asked.
"Yeah, no. Not really."
Moxxie shrugged at her dry tone. "Just asking."
"Jake, I think your dad and Blitz are having coffee," said Kaitlin.
"Oh, can I have some?" Jake joked mischievously as he tried to leave the room.
Kaitlin smirked as she scooped him up before he could leave. "Oh, no, you don't! Because you're hyper enough!" She playfully ruffled his hair, making him laugh.
A few minutes later, Blitzo and Striker came back into the meeting room.
"Sorry about that guys, Strikes and I spilled coffee on ourselves," Blitzo apologized.
"At least we're awake now and we're ready for the kill."
"And we cleaned ourselves up."
"Are you ready, Daddy?!" Jake asked.
Striker smiled at his son. "I sure am, kiddo." He ruffled his son's hair.
"Alright." Kaitlin gave Striker a thumbs up.
"Now let's kill those fuckers!" Blitzo grinned.
