The Normal Date

Hi everyone! Another chapter. Yayyy! Hope you all enjoy it. I had a few requests to do a jealous Dean incident so I tried to go in that direction and my muse took me on a wild ride. I hope you like it. You all probably know this by now, but I don't plan my story, each chapter is a mystery. I had intended this fic to be just a one scene story, but it turned into something bigger and I have to say I am really enjoying it. So, thank you for all the encouragement and love.

Please review! Ideas, thoughts, corrections, comments are all appreciated. Thank you. Enjoy!

Sam and Dean went down to the old cemetery to investigate the supposed hunting in the town. Even though they were almost certain it was a hoax, it was always good to be thorough. While Sam and Dean were at the cemetery Holly was at the local library reading up on the town's history. She wasn't an hour into the research before she knew there was nothing hunting at all about this little town in Kansas.

Holly closed the book in front of her and with a sigh added it to the pile of books she had spread out over the table. Well, this was a big waste of time. Holly closed her eyes putting her elbows on the table and began to rub her temples feeling a small headache coming on. She had skipped breakfast this morning which she was now regretting.

"Need a break?"

Holly's head snapped up at the sudden voice. A young, rather handsome man, was standing on the other side of the table staring down at her. He had the most beautiful steel blue eyes and jet-black hair which was mesmerizingly striking. Holly blinked up at him staring for longer than she intended. When she realized she had remained silent long enough to make the encounter awkward. She immediately shook her head bringing herself to her senses.

"I…uh…yes." Holly sputtered out lamely.

The man lips curled up into a soothingly warm smile which seemed to light up his youthful face. "I know the feeling. I've been studying for hours. It gets to the point when your brain just shuts off."

Holly nodded certainly understanding the man with all the research she has done in the past year it was regrettably relatable. "What are you studying?" Holly found herself asking shocking herself for conversing with the man so quickly. Holly usually doesn't engage with people too often unless it's for Hunting purposes. For some reason over the past several months of Hunting monsters, she often found a barrier between herself and normal people. Despite having these feelings Holly did not like it one bit, it made her feel more isolated and less normal, moving away from the person she used to be.

"Oh." The man said seeming somewhat excited that she asked. He held up the book he had in his hand turning the cover towards her. It was a simple rather thick book, but the man seemed to have no problem holding it in his hand. It read in textual gold letters Constitutional Law.

Holly smiled at the ambitious student. She always admired people who pursued career paths that required a lot of hard work and dedication. She often told Sam that she admired him for studying law. While Holly found it quite boring herself, she respected those who enjoyed it and found herself wishing she was gifted like that.

"I'm studying at Greendale." The man said gesturing with his book in the direction, Holly assumed, of the local college.

Holly smiled and nodded trying to act like she knew what he was talking about.

"Do you go there as well?" he asked his deep blue eyes appearing hopeful.

"Oh no. I'm just in town for a little while. I'm doing research on small towns in Kansas for our travel magazine." Holly said coming up with the quickest most believable lie she could think of in the few seconds she had. She felt herself become a little disgruntled with herself. She hated lying and she was not good at it. Although she was getting better, it did not make her feel good inside. It seemed wrong and unfair to the people she was talking to.

"So, you're a writer?" The man asked sounding genuinely pleased.

"Researcher, actually." Holly corrected pushing closer to a truth.

"Well that sounds like a fun job. You get to travel a lot." He said seeming more interested in her by the minute which was nice, but could get troublesome. You don't want people to get too interested because then they may find out you're lying or worse find out what you do and be marked as a lunatic. However, Holly wasn't too worried at this point. She was almost positive there was no hunting in this town and she was enjoying her conversation with the handsome man in front of her.

"Yeah, it's alright. Can get lonely sometimes." Holly said honestly referring to the hunting job. Loneliness tended to creep in more often than Holly cared to admit. Although Holly had Sam and Dean, she longed for other relationship, particularly with women who could at least speak her language.

"Oh, my name is Lucas, by the way." He said quickly leaning over the table as he extended his hand toward Holly. She reached out and shook his head politely.

"Holly."

Lucas smiled giving her a short of nervous chuckle that Holly couldn't help, but smile back at. "Well, if you need any help with your research, I've lived here all my life. There is not too much to tell, but I'll be happy to help."

"Thank you for offering, but I think I'm going to be done with research today." Holly stated politely. Holly was sure there was nothing more about the town that he could tell her that she'd be interested to hear considering there was not one shred of evidence of a hunting.

"Okay, well alright." He said a little awkwardly backing up. There was a small moment of silence. He seemed to want to stay and talk with her more, but had run out of things to say. Holly found it endearing and completely relatable considering she was in that exact same position. "It was nice to meet you." He finally said lifting a hand to casually wave goodbye to her.

"It was nice to meet you too." Holly said back finding herself missing his company already as he walked away from her.

Lucas had only walked ten feet before he turned back around and marched determinedly back to Holly. Holly blinked in surprise as he approached her.

"Holly, this may seem a bit forward, but would you like to have dinner with me tonight?" He asked the last part rather quickly like if he didn't get out his question fast, he might have never asked.

Holly mouth gaped a bit. "Uh well…" Holly was a bit taken back by his invitation. She was not expecting it. She wasn't sure about going to dinner with a man she just met, but since there was no supernatural entity haunting the town, she didn't see why it would be a problem. Besides, she hasn't been out on a date in almost a year. It was a rare opportunity to not only enjoy someone else's company, but to do something normal. She suspected that perhaps Sam and Dean might be wary about it, but why should they? It was safe and who are they to deny her a bit of normalcy.

"Sure." The word slipped off Holly's lips as she made her decision.

"Great. There's this local bar called Moe's Tavern. It's just on the corner of Main and Rosemary. Does that sound alright?" Lucas asked seeming quite thrilled that Holly said yes to his invite.

"Yes, that sounds fine. Um what time should I meet you there?" Holly asked feeling a bit excited herself.

"Seven, okay?" He asked tilting his head to the side which was sweetly endearing.

"Yeah, I'll see you there." Holly smiled at his shy charm.

"Great. See you then." Lucas said taking his leave, but not before flashing an excited smile in Holly direction.

Once Lucas disappeared behind the book shelves, Holly smiled to herself feeling a few butterflies flutter in her stomach as a giddy feeling came over her. She stacked up the books and went to return them with a nice feeling of contentment.

"Well that was a complete waste of time." Dean declared his voice laced with annoyance as they walked back into the motel room. He dropped his keys and wallet on the table and strolled over to the bed plopping himself down on the springy mattress beginning to unlace his muddy boots.

It had been a cold cloudy grey day where they sun didn't even bother to show up. Sam and Dean got caught in a couple scattered showers while they were investigating the cemetery.

Sam shook his damp hair and shrugged off his jacket throwing it on a nearby chair seeming to be equally as irritated as Dean was about the supposed haunted cemetery.

Holly was silently grateful that she was inside researching having clearly a better afternoon than the men. Holly took off her new black suede jacket, that was surprisingly warm, placing it on the chair next to Sam's. Sam and Dean had taken her to a Goodwill and told her to pick out a warm jacket along with warmer pants and shirts due to the fact that colder weather was fast approaching. She had picked out the black suede jacket along with white, black and dark green long sleeve shirts and another pair of sturdy jeans. She also bought a pair of warm gloves, socks and a few necessary underthings. Dean encouraged her to buy more. If it was up to Holly, she would have just bought the jacket and socks and underwear but both Sam and Dean insisted.

"What do you want for dinner, Holly?" Dean suddenly asked.

Holly bit her lip she was hoping to God that they wouldn't make a big deal out of this.

"Actually, I have a dinner date this evening." Holly announced in a half cheery half cautious tone. She felt herself holding her breath waiting for their reply.

Both Sam and Dean heads snapped over to Holly immediately looking at her like she had two heads. Surprise.

"A date?" Sam asked like it was extremely unusual and odd for Holly to have a date which at this point in her life it was. But that was the thing she hated about it; it shouldn't be odd to have a date with someone sometimes.

Dean had a look of puzzlement on his face along with a scowl that was slowly becoming the forefront of his expression. Holly swallowed, by the look on their faces, this was not going the way she had hoped. Although she didn't expect it to go over well. It was still disheartening.

"Who do you have a date with?" Sam asked seeming somewhat unsure about the situation clearly not happy about the idea.

"His name is Lucas, we met at the library while I was doing research. He just asked me to dinner and I said yes." Holly said laying it out simply for the two Hunters.

Sam looked over at Dean who was scowling at Holly looking like Holly had just told him she crashed his impala again.

"Umm Holly, I don't think that is such a good idea." Sam stated calmly with clear concern in his tone. Sam was feeling uneasy about this for many reasons. Some were because of the dangers of Hunting, but most of his concerns had to do with his brother.

Holly blinked at Sam her mouth parting just a little bit at his statement. She looked over at Dean who had an unmoved disapproving scowl pasted on his face. There was no doubt about Dean's option on the subject. She knew they wouldn't be exactly happy, but she didn't expect flat out anger.

"Why not?" Holly growled out through her teeth trying to hold back feeling her temper rising. She did not see any issues with going on this date and she practically was daring Sam to convince her otherwise. She expected Dean to be against it, but she had hoped Sam would have an open mind toward it.

"I don't like this guy." Dean announced suddenly expressing his thoughts clearly. Holly snapped her head towards Dean looking at him with confused frustration.

"What the hell do you mean? You haven't even met him!" Holly exasperated. His blatant dismissal of the man surprised her.

"Exactly. I don't like people I haven't met. I don't know this guy and neither do you. He could be a freaking Vampire for all we know." Dean was completely serious and didn't find his theory in the least bit unreasonable.

"Oh my God. Are you serious? You're being so paranoid. He's just a regular guy. There is nothing haunting this town and I don't see what's so bad about going a date with a nice guy who asked." Holly found her voice rising at the end of her sentence. Frustration was building up inside her along with the dreaded feeling of being unable to feel at ease ever again.

"First of all, his name is Lucas. And second of all he asked you out in a freaking library. Who does that?" Dean asked sound extremely ridiculous to Holly's ears.

"Normal people, Dean." Holly growled with more force than she had intended making her voice sound accusing.

Dean's jaw visibly tightened and his hurt eyes narrowed in on Holly.

"Well excuse me, if I'm not normal enough for you, Holly, but I ain't gonna sit here and pretend that I'm okay with this. I think you going on this date is stupid and risky and you know what…." Dean paused for a brief moment looking away from Holly for a split second when he looked back up at her his face looked determined, like his mind was settled.

"You're not going." Dean declared calmly. It was hard for Dean to admit it to himself, but Holly's statement stung and felt like she was declaring him abnormal which Dean knew, he said it himself many times, their lives were far from normal. However, hearing Holly say it with disgust made his heart hurt. It was just another characteristic of himself that Holly disliked. He could just add that to the list of reasons he was all wrong for the woman.

Holly was in pure shock. "What?!"

"You heard me." He growled out sternly in a rather challenging tone.

"Dean." Sam said disapprovingly looking over at his brother.

Holly was at her wits end with this man. Feeling her jaw tighten and her teeth clenched together in irritation her blood began to boil. "Oh, is that right?" Holly said tightly trying to keep her angry under control. "Well let me tell you something, Dean Winchester. You don't get to tell me no on this. I am not in danger and I don't have to follow your orders, not this time. It is my choice to go on a date with someone, not yours."

Dean knew she was right by simple reasoning, but his emotions were taking hold of him and there was one thing he knew for certain and that was he did not want Holly to go on a date at all. He somehow felt betrayed, but knew he had no right to feel that way. Holly was not his girl and she had every right to pursue other men. He couldn't help but worry about her going on a date with some stranger. It made him feel uneasy not knowing the guy, but it was not his place to decide for her and he had no right to hold her back because of his personal desires. However, he hoped Holly would be more cautious about things like this, but that's just not who she was. It was hard for him to just let her go to some other man who he knew could not protect her like he could nor care about her the way he did. And, of course, there was jealousy of Holly's attraction to someone else, but more than anything he was jealous that this stranger was going to enjoy the normalcy of going out with Holly not having to worry about anything else except making her happy, something he could never do. He envied that tremendously and there was a weight of unfairness that sat in his gut making him feel almost sick thinking that in this life he was not allowed to be anything more than her protector. He wanted to be so much more, but knew he couldn't. It would just be a weakness that would be exploited and Holly would be taken from him. He was not worth it.

Dean put up his normal barriers and only responded with an impetuous glare which did not help his case in the slightest as far as Holly was concerned.

"Look I'll only be gone for a couple of hours. And if it'll make you feel better, I'll say Christo when I see him." Holly jested sarcastically adding a childish eye roll for effect.

Dean stared at Holly for a long moment appearing to be in conflict. His eyes were wide and focused in on her. Holly could help but become enchanted by his beautiful eyes drawn in by some powerful force. Despite seeing Lucas steel blue eyes, they could never compare to Dean's intense green eyes, even if they were glaring at her unhappily at the moment.

Dean suddenly stood up, without taking his eyes off Holly he spoke.

"Take your switch blade with you." He ordered quickly then immediately got up from the bed and marched out of the motel room shutting the door firmly behind him.

Holly blinked in surprise staring at the closed door. Holly was expecting a full-blown fight to break out between them, but in fact it was the opposite. Perhaps he understood that her reasoning was just and sensible. She couldn't understand why he would think otherwise, but then again it was Dean she was talking about. Trying to understand him was like trying to understand quantum physics, far beyond her brain's realm of comprehension.

Holly turned to look at Sam who had an undeniable frown on his face.

"You'd think I told him Apple Pie and Cheeseburgers didn't exist anymore." Holly half joked with no sense of humor on her face. She felt saddened by the way Dean left so abruptly like her going on this date was hurting him somehow which bothered her greatly. It shouldn't bother Dean that she is taking time to pursue normalcy. In Holly's mind, he should be encouraging or at least understanding.

"He doesn't like the idea of you being alone with some strange guy he's never met." Sam explained calmly, but had a clear look of discontentment on his face. Holly stared at him as she saw conflict in his expression knowing there was more, he wanted to say. He gave Holly a serious look before continuing.

"After a while, when you've been Hunting for as long as Dean and I have, you do not trust strangers and even going on something as harmless as a date can be risky." Sam clarified hoping Holly would understand their way of thinking a little bit better if he took the time to explain things to her.

Holly sighed feeling disheartened by the explanation she was given. "Do you guys seriously look at every human being as a potential threat?" Holly asked wearily shaking her head in sad disappointment. Holly did want it to be that way, but deep down she knew she would eventually reach that point of fear and distrust as well.

Sam frowned deeply and let out a sigh of his own. In a way that's exactly what they do. "Most of the time it is nothing to be worried about, but sometimes it is. And Dean is worried about the sometimes. And frankly so am I." Sam declared bluntly giving her an unfamiliar somewhat stern look.

Holly pushed her brows together at the look she was being given. "There is nothing haunting this town Sam. The odds of Lucas being some supernatural being is extremely unlikely." Holly explained a bit exasperated finding it extremely annoying that both of them were being so suspicious of something so normal.

"Yes, it is unlikely, but Dean and I are still going to worry." Sam said not taking his eyes off Holly concern and doubt clearly woven in expression.

While Holly was touched by their care for her, she was frustrated by the paranoia. "You guys are like fearful parents. You can't carry that much weight on your shoulders. You are not responsible for everyone."

"We're responsibly for you." Sam said staring into Holly's eyes with a look a stern seriousness that surprised Holly. Dean looked at Holly like that all the time, but Sam rarely hardened his expression towards her. She didn't know what brought all this on, but she found herself not liking it. Dean's Drill Sargent attitude was enough.

"Have you and Dean been talking?" Holly asked not bothering to keep the annoyance out of her voice.

Sam sighed a bit frustrated. "Holly, you're part of our family now. And family looks out for each other. Perhaps not in the ways you'd like, but that's what family does."

"Well families need to trust each other to, right?" Holly asked trying to make a point in her favor.

"We trust you, Holly. We just don't trust everyone else." Sam explained giving her a grave look.

"Are you going to tell me no too?" Holly asked tightly. Holly couldn't help but think this was all leading up to Sam's dismissal of her date.

There was a small moment of silence before Sam spoke.

"No, I'm not…but I'm going to ask you to be alert and take your switch blade with you. I'd prefer you didn't, but it would be unfair." He said the words in almost a sad irritated way.

Despite seeing Sam's clear wish for Holly not to go, she was pleased that he understood it was not his decision to make. Sam gets it. Why can't Dean be this reasonable?

"Thank you, Sam. I promise I'll be careful, but really there is nothing to worry about." Holly tried to sound as reassuring as she could. She didn't want Sam to worry nor did she want Dean to worry for that matter. She just wanted to go out on a date and feel normal again. Holly sighed thinking of Dean's face right before he stomped out the door.

"You think Dean'll stay mad at me?" Holly asked genuinely worried about his thoughts toward her.

"He won't punish you." Sam said confidently seeming quite sure of it.

What? Holly blushed a chrisom red. "That's not what I meant." Holly muttered meekly feeling vulnerable and embarrassed at Sam's bluntness. That was definitely not on her mind, but now thanks to Sam it was at the forefront.

"He'll get over it, but he won't be happy. You going on this date bothers him more ways than one." Sam said giving her a somewhat saddened look if not a little reproachfully.

Holly parted her mouth like she was going to speak, but decided against it. A thought came into her mind then. Was Dean jealous? Was her going on this date threating in some way? No, he cares about me, but not like that. Besides, there was nothing threating about this date. She was just going out to a nice dinner with a college student that she will never see again after tonight, nothing was going to come of it and she had no plans to make it more than just dinner. She just wanted to have a normal outing like most people in their twenties would want. What she was doing was harmless and natural. And in her mind, she had every right to pursue this normalcy of life. She wasn't going to sacrifice the only time in a year that someone had asked her out. And she did not count the times with Sam and Dean as "dates." That was merely Hunting related and not in the realm of dating at all.

Sam saw the wheels turning in Holly's head as she looked towards the floor seeming to be in deep thought. Sam had hoped Holly got his meaning. He did not want to reveal too much to her because that was not his place to say, but he was getting tired of the two of them denying their feelings. He couldn't understand Holly's cluelessness. To him Dean's feelings were extremely clear, but then again Sam knew Dean better than anyone and Dean was made out of a different kind of mold. Hell, so was he.

Sam had never seen Dean so intense towards someone before, including himself. Granted Sam had been in the Hunting business his whole life and grew up in this. Whereas Holly was thrust into the middle of the game and was still adjusting to the harshness of the Hunter life. She was more reckless and clueless due to her twenty-six years of civilian living. And Dean was handling it the way his father had because that's what he knew worked.

Dean was so taken by this brown eyed woman he was practically absorbing everything about her finding ways to keep her alive because he now knew he couldn't live without her. Sam was almost sure of it. Dean would break without her becoming an empty shell. It was becoming more and more apparent to him every day. He was seeing everything they could not and it was frustrating to him. They were blinded by their constant clashing at one another thinking it was a disconnect when in reality it was the opposite. Sam couldn't help but feel sorry for them. Perhaps it would be best if they had never met, but there was no going back now.

In all honesty he did not think Holly was good for Dean. He did not blame Holly, of course, but he knew there were going to be many trials ahead of them because of it. Sam was beginning to see Holly as family, having a fondness of his own for the young woman not just because of Dean's feelings, but simply because he valued her as a friend seeing her almost like a sister to him. However, it was scary adding someone to their cursed family. One more person to love means one more person to lose.

After a moment of silence between the two of them, Sam spoke. "You should probably get ready. We'll drive you."

0000

Dean drove in silence glaring at the road as he drove to Moe's Tavern. Holly sat in the back feeling extremely awkward and uncomfortable by the silence. It was no secret both of them did not like her going on this date with Lucas and neither of them were bothering to hide their displeasure. Holly bit her lower lip as she began to second guess her decision. She did not like the brothers being upset with her and she had no desire to make them worry. But then Holly shook her head. There is no reason she should feel guilty about going on a normal date. She did not ask much of anything from Sam and Dean and often went without to ensure they had the means to continue to Hunt. This was something she wanted to do to not only enjoy an outing, but to feel normal again. And she had every right to pursue this. They could handle a few hours of worry. To Holly's thinking it was a small sacrifice that they could stand to pay for a little while.

Dean pulled up in front of the restaurant. There was a long pause of continued silence while Sam and Dean just stared straight ahead not looking back at Holly. When neither of them said anything, Holly sighed and moved to open the door, but stopped when she saw Dean's hand extend towards her holding out a credit card. Holly looked at the card then up at Dean who had a stiff unreadable expression on his face. Holly bit her lip and took the card.

"Thanks." Holly said softly.

"Just in case the son of a bitch doesn't pay." He graveled out. "You have your switch blade?" He asked abruptly.

"Yes." Holly said nodding it was in a hidden holster inside her jeans.

"Limit yourself to two drinks, please." She heard Sam say as he looked back to glance at her.

Holly pressed her lips firmly together at that comment. "I'm not that bad." Holly defended feeling a bit angered and hurt by his insinuation that she lacked self-control. Although, it wasn't totally unjustified considering her track record in bars. However, that didn't mean she was irresponsible or incapable of making smart decisions. Holly felt it was unfair to attack her with moments that she regrets just because he was unhappy about her going on this date. She found both Sam and Dean acting unreasonable and immature about this whole thing.

"Will be back at nine, make sure your ass is outside by then. Got it?" Dean ordered in his stern Master Drill Sargent voice.

Holly felt her jaw clenched and forced herself not to push her luck and say something that was sure to get Dean to drive away.

"Fine." Holly growled as she opened the door to leave, but was stopped.

"Hey!" Dean hollered after her.

Holly stopped half way out of the car. "What you want a 'yes, sir'?" She spun around giving him a glare that matched how she felt about his rude commands.

"I mean it, Holly, nine. Be out here or I'm coming to get you." And that was not a threat that was a promise and Holly knew it. He was acting like her parent, again treating her like a child, despite what he may think, Holly was almost sure this was the way one would treat a teenager, not a twenty-six-year-old.

Holly gritted her teeth and before Dean could threaten further, she pushed herself out of the Impala and slammed the door behind her walking determinedly into the bar not looking back. She knew it was a bit childish to storm out like that, but she did not want to say something she would regret or worse say something that would make Dean change his mind.

Holly walked up to the hostess and told her she was waiting for Lucas and asked if he had arrived. Almost on queue she spotted Lucas holding up a hand sitting at a table by the bar. Holly walked over to him and stood up as soon as she got close.

"Hi." He said giving her a sweet smile.

Holly smiled back flattered that he stood up for her. It was a small classy gesture that Holly took note of. "Hey, Lucas."

He walked over to her and pulled out her chair gesturing for her to sit down. Holly nearly fainted at the chivalrousness she was being show. Even though they were at a simple bar Holly was being treated like she was the queen of England or something. Although it made Holly a little uncomfortable at the unusualness of it all, she was mostly flattered by it. Not many men now a days, or the men she's met anyways, showed this kind of courtesy. It made her feel special.

"Thank you."

Once Holly sat down Lucas returned to his own seat. It started off as awkward small talk, but it wasn't long until their conversation became natural and enjoyable.

"So, you think you'll ever stop researching and do something else?" Lucas asked with interest.

Holly took his question seriously and her mind went straight to Hunting. Holly honestly didn't know what to say to that. There was a small part of her that hoped she could go back to a normal happy life, but then again is seemed the more Holly immersed herself in the Hunting world the more she felt like she couldn't let it go. It was almost like a need now then just a choice. The truth was she liked it and it filled the void of the loss of her sister. It gave her purpose, reason and obligation. But that wasn't all, she had developed a deep relationship with Sam and Dean seeing them as her family now and found herself attached to them emotionally in different ways. They had become part of her life, just as much as the job did.

"I don't know." Holly said honestly answering his question. "Maybe someday, but for now it's what I'll be doing for a while. I honestly like being on the road seeing new places." Holly said trying to give Lucas an optimistic look on things as well as herself.

Lucas nodded seeming somewhat disappointed, but at the same time looking on her with respect. "You must have family that miss you."

Holly remained silent for a long moment thinking of her family that was gone. It hurt her heart to think about what she had lost, but she was grateful that she had Sam and Dean at least.

Apparently, Holly was silent for far too long because Lucas finally spoke up breaking the silence. "I'm sorry I should not pry like that." Lucas said at seeing Holly's saddened face.

"Oh no." Holly said reassuringly. "Please you're fine, my family unfortunately doesn't always approve of my work. They don't like me going off on my own." Holly said thinking of Sam and Dean's disapproving frowns about her decision to go out tonight.

"I'm sure you're a big girl who can handle herself." Lucas said with a small teasing smile.

Holly snorted finding his statement utterly ironic considering that's exactly what she tells Sam and Dean constantly. "Yeah try telling them that."

Lucas raised an eyebrow at her. "Overprotective brothers I'm guessing. Should I be worried?" Lucas asked with a small unconcerned smile on his face.

Holly bit her lip trying to hide a small smirk that was beginning to form on her face. Sam and Dean certainly acted like overprotective brothers in a way. It was ironically humorous how very observant Lucas was and how he was somewhat close to the truth. Holly shook her and smiled reassuringly.

"No, you're safe with me."

Lucas laughed. "I'm sure I am." He stated seeming genuinely confident in her.

Holly grinned beginning to feel more comfortable around Lucas as their conversation continued. It appeared he was breaking out of his shell a little bit showing her more than just the shy college student he was in the library. It seemed like the more she talked with him the more she was enjoying herself. He was mannerly, mature and spoke well. All things Holly found very attractive and intriguing making her feel more at ease.

"To be honest with you, this is the first date I've had in a long time." Holly said feeling somewhat vulnerable as she began to open up to him.

"Really? You? I don't believe it." Lucas said questioningly cocking his head to the side appearing to be sincerely shocked.

Holly blushed at his insinuation that she was attractive. It's been a while since someone had even complimented her so kindly. "Been so tied up in my work I haven't had the chance. It was honestly you who snapped me out of it. Thank you for inviting me to dinner tonight." Holly said genuinely grateful to be out with him.

"You're welcome. Thank you for saying yes. I've had a nice time with you. I hope you can say the same." Lucas said kindly giving her a sweet smile.

"Of course, it was really nice." Holly said feeling a slight warmness in her heart.

Oddly, Lucas's face went from sweet to suspiciously annoyed very quickly. Holly's face fell and blinked in surprise as to why Lucas's expression changed so suddenly. Following Lucas's eyes Holly slowly turned her head around and looked up to see the solid mass of Dean standing rigidly right behind her chair.

Holly's heart dropped into her stomach and her breath caught in her throat. She quickly stood up in surprise. Dean's face was firm and held disapproving scowl. Holly wondered if Dean's face was frozen in that position tonight.

"It's time to go, Holly." Dean firmly without looking at her, his eyes were solely fixed on Lucas.

"Dean." Holly whispered through gritted teeth feeling extremely embarrassed by him showing up unannounced. Holly looked at the clock on the wall above the bar. 9:03pm. Was he serious? Holly was beyond annoyed. He said he would come get her if she wasn't out by nine, but coming in only three minutes after was ridiculous.

Lucas stood up looking not very pleased himself about their dinner being interrupted. "Holly, who's this?" Lucas growled gesturing towards the man who was giving him a death glare.

Holly sighed with heavy annoyance. Time for more lying. "This is my brother, Dean." Holly said thinking it would be the most logical explanation as to why some crazed man would come in glaring at him.

Dean gave him a brief overexaggerated smile.

"And who's that?" Lucas asked jerking his head gesturing behind Dean. Holly's jaw nearly dropped when he saw Sam come walking up behind Dean.

"That's my other brother…Sam." Holly practically snarled.

Lucas narrowed his eyes at the "brothers" looking at them each suspiciously and oddly not looking the least bit intimidated. Lucas was only a tad bit shorter than Dean, but exceedingly shorter than Sam, and nowhere near as muscular, however, that didn't seem to bother him.

Dean cocked his head to the side not liking Lucas's reaction to seeing them. He expected this college boy to back down, but he was doing just the opposite and that put Dean on edge feeding into his already heightened temper. Dean was on the brink of knocking this pretty boy's teeth in.

"Let's go, Holly." It was clearly a command. He jerked his head indicating for her to move.

"Wait a second Holly. Don't move." Lucas commanded right back not taking his eyes off Dean glaring at him with his steel blue eyes. Holly could see Dean's chest rising and falling as he was taking deep sharp breaths trying to calm himself.

"You don't get to tell her what to do." Lucas said in Holly's defense. Any other time Holly would have been grateful, and he was absolutely right, but Lucas didn't know Dean like Holly did. Holly knew that Lucas was fueling Dean's fire by every passing second.

"Actually, Lucas, is it? I do because you want to know something, she's a minor." Dean said with confidence and full authority.

Holly's eyes nearly bugged out of her sockets. WHAT?!

Lucas eyes shot towards Holly giving her a questioning look.

"Yeah that's right. She's only 16 and should not have gone on this date." Dean growled turning his head towards Holly giving her a look of stern disapproval playing the 'adult brother' role to perfection.

Holly's jaw dropped to the floor. That was extremely insulting not to mention rude, dishonest and just plain wrong to insinuate that she was a minor. She had a young face, but she didn't think she looked 16 years old. Holly knew why Dean was doing this and it made her mad, boiling mad. He was taking the brother lie she used and expanded it into a full-blown sabotage. He was showing her in a bad light making her out to be a manipulative liar and a mischievous child. She liked Lucas and did not want him to think of her so poorly. Holly saw this as completely unfair and unnecessary. How dare Dean say that!

"I am not." Holly declared angrily wanting nothing more than to punch Dean in the face.

Dean shot her a look that could kill and Holly shot the same look right back. And to the astonishment of Holly and Dean, Sam spoke up in a deep stern voice that would have made John Winchester proud.

"Holly Marie Beckett." Holly jerked her head towards Sam looking both shocked and embarrassed. Sam was not quiet about it either. His deep voice seemed to carry and people were starting to take notice of the scene unfolding before them. Despite herself, Holly swallowed hard feeling her chest tighten as it always did throughout her life when she heard her full name in that tone.

"Do as your told, you're already in enough trouble." Sam glared at her giving her an amazing imitation of a parental figure. Holly was beginning to shaking in pure frustration and outrage. What they were doing was humiliating and just plan mean. In her mind they were trying to destroy her one normal evening.

Dean turned towards Holly towering over her small frame like an imposing threat.

"Right, so if you don't want to be dragged out of here. I suggest you move, little sister." He gave her a look that would have made anyone shrink back with intimidation. His tone was dark and his voice was deadly calm. He dipped his head down slightly so that he was more eye level with her making her feel even more patronized then she already felt.

Holly just glared at him with angry defiance showing absolutely no intention of doing anything he said. Dean's eyes narrowed in on her further.

"I've got no problem embarrassing you." He gritted out his eyes stiff with full intent to do just that.

Holly's jaw clenched and she felt her whole body go stiff with rage as her cheeks blushed profusely by his words that even though they weren't loud, they were loud enough and Holly was sure Lucas heard and perhaps the people at the next table over. Dean had already embarrassed her greatly, but she had no doubt he could make it worse, much worse. A swarm of possibilities entered her mind that did little to defuse her pent-up anger, if anything it fueled it. She had the greatest urge to kick him where it would hurt. How dare he do this to her!?

Holly knew Dean said that out of pure spite for her not waiting outside for him and not leaving when he asked the first time. He was going along with the lie that he was her brother and Holly couldn't help but feel he was darkly enjoying her embarrassment due to the fact that he never wanted her to go on the date in the first place. Almost like he was punishing her for not agreeing with him which Holly was now greatly despising him for. His comments were unnecessary showing little account for her feelings. But it was clear that Dean's goal was to get Holly out of the bar in any way he could and her feelings were not on his priority list at the moment.

However, Holly was pissed and had little desire to do as she was told. Sam and Dean were amazing at lying, practically experts at this point, and they played off each other in perfect harmony rarely did anyone question it. And since they started acting like protective brothers of a 16-year-old, the comments they made would not be seen as so unusual. There was little hope of getting out of this that ruled in her favor.

Despite hearing everything Lucas did not flinch at Dean's comments. He just continued to glare at Dean and Sam.

"I don't believe a word of this. And even if she is 16-year-old, that would not matter to me. You have no right to make a scene like this interrupting our dinner." Lucas said firmly giving Sam and Dean accusing looks.

Damn straight. Holly was agreeing with Lucas one hundred percent at this point. She was far too angry and hurt by Sam and Dean to play her part as the disobedient 16-year-old. In her mind, Sam and Dean were wronging her and she absolutely refused to give in. She did not want to show them that their actions towards her were justifiable.

"Thank you." Holly said wholeheartedly appreciative that he would not see her the way Sam and Dean were portraying her. There was no reason for this, he can believe she is a traveling researcher for a magazine, not a lying adolescent.

Dean scrunched his eyebrows together in suspicion there was something about this guy that put him on edge making him have an uneasy feeling in his gut. Perhaps it was the jealousy he was feeling towards the man, already having a low option of him possibly was clouding his judgment.

"I have every right as her brother and legal guardian. So, suck it up buttercup and find someone your own age." Dean growled demandingly feeling his teeth grind never breaking from his role as her "brother."

"I will not suck it up. I have chosen her and you will not interfere." Lucas statement was firm, commanding and…weird. Holly found his statement odd and gave him a confused look.

Dean was not feeling suspicious anymore, but was absolutely sure something was not right with his guy.

"Holly get your ass outside. I'm not going to tell you again. I feel like an echo." Dean glared at Holly right in the eyes trying to say all he could with his eyes.

Holly blinked at Dean getting his message loud and clear. "Echo" was their code word for Danger. However, just because she understood what Dean was trying to communicate to her did not mean she was going to obey. To her there was no intimate danger, Dean was simply trying to get her to leave with him. Being completely blinded by Dean wronging her she did not look any further than Dean just being a demanding asshole.

Holly shook her head giving Dean a disgusted look. "No, you have no right." Holly declared firmly.

Before Holly could blink Lucas was in front of Dean and without any warning Lucas punched Dean in the face knocking him forcibly to the ground. Holly jumped back absolutely shocked at the sudden violence.

"Dean!" Sam yelled bending down to help his brother. Dean shook his head trying to see straight as blood pour out of his nose and the side of his mouth. A bruise was starting to form immediately on the side of his face. He was hit extremely hard.

Holly's heart skipped a beat and immediately began to move towards Dean when suddenly Lucas wrapped his hand around her bicep and pulled her back towards him.

"Lucas!" Holly exclaimed shocked. His breathing was heavy and quickened like adrenaline was pumping through his veins and he was holding back. Holly turned to look at him, but he was staring at Dean intensely like an animal would look at its prey. He licked his lips and then Holly saw it. Just below his parted lips she saw fangs beginning to descend, but abruptly they were forced back under hiding once again.

Holly stopped breathing and was now frozen in fear as she stared wide eyed at the Vampire. However, she didn't have long to take in that horrible fact. There was a sudden swoosh of wind that blurred her vision as she was swept away faster than she could blink.

Well…It turns out Dean was right. Now Holly's in big trouble in more ways than one.

Part 2 Coming Soon!

Please review and let me know your thoughts. It really helps motivate me to write.

Question: Should I put another spanking scene in the next chapter? I know there hasn't been one in a while.

Also, if you were in Holly's position would you be angry if Sam and Dean painted you as a 16-year-old in front of your date? (Just curious lol).

Thank you for reading! Please review.
