Magecraft: Some Ashford family magecraft as well as Argantiuss family magecraft. Due to the changes in Ashford's elemental affinity and spirit origin, his compatibility to the Ashford magic crest is in question and makes him a less likely heir. As a result, Ashford's Clocktower education had a focus on runecraft, reinforcement, and other non-specific and less-aligned magecraft.

Originally, Faelan Ashford was a prime candidate to inherit the Ashford magic crest and would've most likely lived on to become a successful magus. After his kidnapping by the Eye of Marduk cult, however, that changed. The events that occurred involved not only Ashford's kidnapping but also fruitless experimentation on physically converting one's magical circuits to another as well botched summonings for Heroic Spirits. What was summoned instead were a phantom spirit and a Phantasmal Beast brought from the Reverse Side of the World. The phantom spirit was later identified as Lobo, the Wolf King of Currumpaw, and the Phantasmal Beast was identified as an Amaroq (see Amaroqs in relevant Phantasmal Species research). The phantom spirit's spirit origin was unstable due to the botched summoning and the Phantasmal Beast was not long for this plane and would've returned to the Reverse Side. That is if the two didn't merge, creating a being referred to as the Entity. The Entity's full capabilities are, as of the moment, unknown, however, the Entity seemed to have taken pity on the dying Faelan and merged with the boy. For years, the Entity lay dormant, however, subtle changes were noted in the boy.
First, Ashford's speed was enhanced to an inhuman level, beyond a mage's capabilities, and was near the level of a Heroic Spirit. In order to gauge whether or not this speed was capable of improving further, lies were told to the boy that such speed was capable in other mages and the boy was told to keep his speed a secret among other mages besides myself and his parents. Second, a wolf-like state of pack mentality has been noted in the boy by his parents, doing everything to protect the members of the "pack" with an astounding level of ferocity. As such, gaining the boy as a possible heir for the Barthomeloi magic crest as a condition for my aid to Aella Ashford has been a boon as well as an avenue to be recognized into Ashford's "pack." Third of the changes observed were the changes of both of the boy's elemental affinity and spirit origin from Fire and Artifact respectively to Spirit and Beast. These classifications are not official as "Spirit" does not truly belong to any of the recognized elemental affinities and the closest element in comparison is Ether, yet still differs. As for Ashford's new spiritual origin as Beast, the change would make sense given the components of the Entity. However, what such an origin entails is yet to be seen. As a result of the changes to both Ashford's elemental affinity and his origin, the former Ashford heir no longer qualifies as an optimal heir to the Ashford family magic crest.

The Entity within Faelan Ashford has awoken during the events of the Yggdmillennia Great Holy Grail War. Thus far, only two after-effects of this event have been drastic, the boy's magical energy output and magical circuit count have increased two-fold as well as an increase in his already heightened speed, which is now on par with a Servant's. I have tasked Ashford's Archer Servant, Atalanta, with monitoring his status and to make note of any changes, even if the familiar herself disapproves. My investment into Ashford has already yielded me a capable operative, especially so given that Ashford is now actively using the Gate of Babylon and using it as a weapon in addition to the above-mentioned Servant he kept from his participation in the Holy Grail War that occurred in Romania. Ashford is young, still relatively inexperienced and further investment would likely yield further favorable results.

Yeah, I know, not a real chapter, but I had been stuck in writer's block that nothing could fix for a long while and I figured I would release this to offer some context into some of the factors that Faelan is not aware that his boss is keeping secret from for her own reasons. Anyway, I did get some inspiration to add some factors into my story from a variety of sources, including FGO, but holy crap, now I can see why it may take an author some years to release a novel. Anyway, I digress. I finally got back on track by setting up a plot chart with all the major events that I want to occur. So Chapter 22 will release in about a month, give or take a day.
In FGO news, these events that have been coming back to back have been killing me. All I need is Embers to level up my Servants, especially since I've been slowly leveling up Shakespeare and Spartacus to level 90 because 1. the Apocrypha event rerun, and 2. I want to. Fortunately, Atalanta spooked me when I did an obligatory 11x roll in the Archer rate banner and got Arjuna too in the process. I finally now have an SSR in each of the standard seven Servant classes. But now all I need is Mordred for my Red faction collection... Anyway, GilFest is still going, and I wish everyone luck who is rolling for the Golden King of Heroes, and congrats if you already got him.
