Chapter 7B
Brendan moved his leg slowly and methodically, keeping himself balanced the entire time. The new information he had received, about how his pokemon were linked with May's, was one step further to figuring out how to solve how to sever the bonds that glued them together. However... Brendan wasn't sure if he would be able to help. He thought of himself as being the side character if this was a story, and that May would be the only person to get anywhere. He was just the one to control an arm, leg, and head. After all, May was the only one that could speak, and to even contact her, he'd have to type into her phone. All he did was complicate things...
Brendan checked on May, and realized that she had entered tall grass. He glanced at his own feet, and saw no tall grass underneath his own feet. Odd, but welcome. Suddenly, he was aware of something falling from above at an alarming rate. He felt himself topple forwards, and stuck out his foot so he went slightly further. Just behind him, an Oran Berry smashed into the ground behind him, and Brendan noticed a Ralts nearby. But why was a wild pokemon outside of the tall grass by this much? Brendan reached for his partner, then realized that there was no pokeballs in his inventory. He'd have to run.
Brendan heard himself say he had to run, and before he could respond to this, his left leg turned away. He tripped over himself as he tried to escape, and went down hard. May's movements pulled Brendan to his knees, and he righted himself before running as fast as he could. His muscles were screaming, especially in his right leg, but he kept moving. Eventually, he got to a corner, and collapsed, exhausted.
After Brendan recovered fully, he reached for May's phone. May said "Aight, time to get up" first, so he started to get up. He grabbed the phone and typed in "Where do we go next?"
Brendan heard May whisper "Petalburg City."
