Chapter 10B
Brendan heard the electronic hum of the door opening, and stepped in. This was the pokemon center, and while Brendan had always known he'd end up in here one way or another, he never thought the circumstances that he was under would be when he finally stepped in with purpose. But, you can't control what happens to you, so Brendan was ready.
His confidence almost immediately broke when he felt himself almost fall over. He looked down, and noticed that one of his legs had tried to go to Nurse Joy already. He shook his head, then started to walk. He reached the desk, and called out.
"Hi Nurse Joy, can you help me?"
He saw Nurse Joy come from one of the hallways leading into the back. He longed to see what went on back there, but knew that it was important and that he shouldn't go near anything in there.
"Hello sir, what can I do for you?"
"I'm here to heal my pokemon today, Joy."
"Great! Let's get those mons ready!" With that, Nurse Joy pulled out a tray for pokeballs. Brendan grabbed the Radot balls while May grabbed the Treekip balls, and they deposited the two into the tray. Nurse Joy smiled, and headed back into the hallway.
Brendan felt himself sigh, then noticed May had muffled herself. Taking this as an invitation to talk privately, he pulled up his sweater as well. May whispered "We should be here for around 5 minutes."
May pulled out her phone and handed it to the arm Brendan controlled, letting him respond. He typed out "You been here before?", thinking that she had been a bit more smooth in asking for help in the center.
May smiled, and said "Yes. Been here since I was a little girl, Brendan. How long have you been popping into here?"
"I only enter around every month." was what Brendan sent back.
With his legs aching a little, Brendan turned towards the nearby bench. With May's help, he threw himself onto the bench and sat back.
Brendan didn't have anything to talk about with May, and she didn't seem to want to speak about anything, so the two silently waited until the call for their pokemon came.
When the call came out, Brendan felt himself stand up, and he moved his leg to get to the counter. He waited as May gave some small talk, then left. Nurse Joy waved a goodbye, then looked at the next trainer.
She seems nice, thought Brendan.
