Chapter 14M

Lori tossed out a Zigzagoon, and May steadied for battle. She had chosen to fight against high defence, and she couldn't use moves to lower stats.

She saw her left arm toss out (M)Treekip, and knew that they would have to start off with that. May knew that Leer was not going to work, so Pound and Leafage were the only choices. Aiming for a powerful blow, May chose Pound. One finger out, time to act.

(M)Treekip dashed forward, and delivered a powerful strike right to the Zigzagoon's body, knocking it to the side. As it recovered, it used Sand Attack, blinding (M)Treekip. (M)Treekip wasn't that affected, but May could tell that (B)Treekip would suffer from the strikes.

May thought for a second, then chose Leafage as the next attack. This time however, the opposing Zigzagoon struck first. Delivering a quick slash to the top, the Zigzagoon brought the Treekips to the ground. (M)Treekip retaliated with a powerful Leafage, throwing Zigzagoon away. When it got up however, it seemed to have taken no lasting damage. May knew why this was the case quickly. Even in the beginning set, the foes were still higher leveled than her pokemon, and the high defence was also troublesome. May had to strategize what to do next, and she thought. Pound and Leafage won't work, and I can't use status moves. It's over...

(M)Treekip suddenly rushed forwards, heading straight for the enemy Zigzagoon at surprising speed. He pounced at the Zigzagoon, and suddenly glowed a dull white. May immediately knew this was Quick Attack, a new move. She knew it wouldn't do much though, at best it could outspeed the opponent. But, just before contact, (M)Treekip suddenly changed its strike from a tackle to a swipe, and sent the opposing pokemon flying. She suddenly saw Brendan check the pokedexes to see which moves were used. She checked her new move, it was Quick Attack as expected. She looked at (B)Treekip's move, and did a double take.

Brick Break? That's perfect! thought May, knowing how useful it would be. She then realized that the Quick Attack had actually caused the opposing Zigzagoon to faint instantly. May asked if she could leave like before, and was told yes. Brendan helped her leave, then she ran to the pokemon center.
