(I decided to turn this into Buck whumps) 2 months later….
Buck and the crew had been back to normal, nothing else had stopped them from doing what they wanted. He still has not heard from Maddie at all. Eddie and him had still had the same old friendship they had, Chris was still coming over as he was. They still had their normal calls, and the same old routine like they did as usual. Buck had no idea that someone had been targeting him, he had been sitting there in his kitchen cooking himself some dinner. He had heard a noise coming from the front door and once he heard the noise, he started walking towards the door and then opened it and walked outside. The person who had been targeting him was the one who told Buck to sue the city. Buck walked out into the driveway and was looking onto the street and didn't notice who was walking up behind him. The guy then pulled a knife, and then stabbed Buck 5-6 times. He then collapsed and then Chuck ran off into the night. Diaz had then been getting back from shift and noticed Buck lying in the driveway, bleeding out.
"BUCK!" Diaz yelled. He then ran as fast as he could towards Buck. He then dropped to his knees and then noticed 5-6 stab wounds to Buck. He then thought that the others were probably still at the station so he decided to ring Bobby. Bobby then picked up on the first ring. "Diaz, what's up?" Bobby asked. "Are you guys still at the station?" Diaz questioned. "Yeah, why?" Bobby questioned. "Bring the 118 ambo to Buck's ASAP." Diaz said. "What's wrong?" Bobby asked. "Buck's been stabbed. 5-6 times." Diaz said, frantically. "Alright, we'll be over there as fast we can." Bobby said. He then hung up and Diaz then started applying pressure to the wounds and heard a few moans out of Buck here and there. Bobby then ran down the stairs faster than he usually does. "Bobby, why run so fast down the stairs?" Hen asked. "We need to get to Buck's NOW." Bobby said. "Why?" Chim questioned. "Buck's been stabbed." Bobby said. The others then got in the vehicles and sped off, faster than usual.
Diaz then heard the sirens coming and then noticed Buck was turning blue. "God damn it Buck, don't die, not right now." he said, doing chest compressions. The 118 then pulled up and then Chim noticed him doing compressions. Chim and Hen then grabbed the bags faster than they did before and then ran over. "Stopped breathing about 2 minutes ago." Diaz said, still doing chest compressions. Hen was putting gauze on the wounds and putting leads on and putting an IV in and Chim was preparing the defib in case they needed it. Diaz and Chim then switched compressions back and forth. Buck then flatlined and Chim grabbed the defib and then put gel on it and then shocked Buck twice. He then stabilized but was still struggling to breathe. "We need to intubate or he's got a tension pneumo." Hen said. Chim grabbed the stethoscope and then listened to Buck's chest. "Breath sounds are ragged." Chim said. "We need to intubate." Hen said. Diaz had been sitting to the side in case he was needed. He had been trying to control his emotions 2 months later. Chim grabbed the ET tube and then passed it through Bucks throat and then attached the bag and then gave it to Diaz to start pumping it. He then changed the gauze again for the 3rd time.
They were then ready for transport, so Bobby ran to the ambo and grabbed the stretcher and wheeled it over and then lifted Buck onto it, putting a backboard underneath and Diaz following their every move. They then moved towards the ambo and then lifted the stretcher in, Diaz going in first. Hen hopped in the back with Diaz and then Chim got in the driver's seat and drove away, with lights and sirens. Hen then changed the gauze 2 different times in the ambo because Buck's bleeding was that severe. Chim had got to the hospital in record time and pulled up and then doctors and nurses were waiting. Diaz had never noticed that he had Buck's blood on him. There was blood on his hands and shirt, he would probably have to go home later and take a shower and change. Hen was filling in the doctors and nurses, "26 year old male, 5-6 stab wounds, intubated on scene, GCS is 3, shocked twice." she said. "Alright, let's wheel him into Trauma 1." the one doctor said. Buck was then wheeled away into Trauma one and then Hen and Chim then helped the nurses get Buck onto their bed. He was then put on the bed and the backboard was then taken out from under him and the nurse gave it back to Chim and then he placed it back on the stretcher and then they both took the stretcher away and put a new sheet on it and got new supplies.
Diaz had already been in the waiting room and Chim and Hen had to go away to another call and then eventually Bobby and Athena showed. "Where's Chim and Hen?" Bobby asked. "They said they had to go to another call." Diaz said. "We have detectives and the Crime Unit there at Buck's to see what caused all of this." Athena said. Diaz then nodded his thanks to her and then he sat down and waited for news on Buck. Meanwhile back in the room, the doctors and nurses were trying to control the bleeding down. "He'll need a cross type match." one of the nurses said. "Grab the ultrasound." one of the doctors said. There was only one doctor in Buck's case but there were 3 of them in the room. Then one of the nurses got the ultrasound, and gave it to one of the doctors. The doctor then put gel onto Buck's chest and then took the wand and waved it around and then noticed a bunch of bleeding coming from his aorta and spleen. "Book an OR ASAP, he could bleed out right here and that is not about to happen." The doctor said. The doctor that issued to book an OR was the one on the case and then they whisked away with Buck into the OR, with him still on the vent. The others had still been waiting and waiting until they heard news, Diaz then eventually went back home and took a shower and got a change of clothes.
He then came back an hour later with a new change of clothes and a shower and saw the others still waiting, still no sign of Chim and Hen. "They're still not back?" Diaz questioned. Bobby then shook his head no. After 3 hours, a doctor then came out in OR scrubs and Buck's blood on him, but not a whole lot. Bobby was the first one to stand up. "How is he?" he questioned. "Well, let me just say this, his injuries WERE severe and caused him damage to his aorta and spleen and I had to remove his spleen because it was in shreds, and the damage to the aorta was not that severe so I stitched that up easily but it caused him to be in a deep coma, so he had to stay on the vent and be placed in the ICU." the doctor said. "Will he be able to come back to shift after awhile?" Diaz questioned. "Well, it depends when he is awake and alert." the doctor said. "Can we see him?" Bobby asked. "Yes you can, just follow me." the doctor said, standing up. The others then stood up and followed the doctor to the ICU. Diaz was the first to walk in and when he did he saw Buck laying there with the bed halfway up. He had a machine that was for the vent, the BP cuff, pulse OX on the same arm, and the IV and transfusions on the other. And Diaz was occupied by hearing the heart monitor.
Bobby and Athena then stood on the other side of the room and they took in on how lifeless Buck was. Diaz had already pulled up a chair to the beside and there was still no sign of Chim and Hen at all. Bobby had left the room to call Chim to see where they were. Athena then left an hour later and then it was just Diaz in the room. He was lucky that Buck was alive and they didn't lose him right there in the driveway. What he didn't know was that Chim and Hen were actually not on another call, they went back to the station because they couldn't stand being there at the hospital again in just 2 months. Buck had been getting transfusions every hour because he had lost that much blood. Bobby had given Diaz time off of shift so he could be at the hospital. He was back and forth from the hospital to his own house because he had to spend time with Chris. But the majority of his time was spent there listening to the heart monitor keeping him company. It had been 2 weeks since the accident, Athena had arrested Chuck, and Buck still had no change. He was still on the vent, and Diaz was still at his side. Buck was due off of the vent within the next couple of days, but the doctor would have to see how he would do without it due to his stubbornness.
Bobby had been coming by here and there to check on how Diaz was doing and to see if he was not going crazy in the hospital room. He was lucky that Diaz was not going nuts, he was keeping his cool. Chim and Hen were nowhere to be seen after shifts at all. After a couple weeks, Buck came off of the vent and was moved to an oxygen mask. Diaz was finally relieved that Buck was closer to waking up soon, but it had to depend on his stubbornness. He had been able to go back to shift because Buck was stable enough that he could stop worrying. Once he reached the station, he grabbed his back out of the car and then walked towards the station. When he walked in he noticed Chim and Hen in the corner not noticing him at all. So he walked towards the locker room and put his bag in and got to doing his and Buck's usual duties. Chim and Hen never came over to him and said hello at all and that was unusual for them to not to. Bobby had been looking from above and noticed Chim and Hen in the corner and Diaz doing the normal. "Chim, Hen, my office." Bobby announced. He scared the 2 and then they walked up the stairs, unknown why they were called to the office.
Bobby then welcomed them in and then made them sit down in the 2 chairs available. "From my understanding, you lied to Diaz about going to a call, when you went back to the station." Bobby said. "Well, we couldn't stand being in the hospital again in just 2 months, and we fully were not friends with Buck or Diaz again." Chim said. "So, you lied about you and them being friends again?" Bobby questioned. Hen then shook her head yes. "So, you either fix this right now, or there are consequences." Bobby said. "We can't, because we both said we were to not fix anything." Hen said. "Alright, there will be consequences." Bobby said. "What type of consequences?" Chim questioned. "Well, one of you will be on toilet duty, one on cleaning the floors, and I'll think of the others later." Bobby said. "You're dismissed." he added on. Hen was trying to hold back the tears when she was walking down the stairs and Chim was angry. Diaz noticed the two walking down the stairs and noticed the angry look on Chim's face. Bobby had felt relieved that he had solved the problem coming from Chim and Hen. Diaz then looked up and noticed Bobby up above and then Bobby noticed him from down below and nodded to him. Bobby had told Diaz about the problem a couple days prior so he was all up to speed.
It had been 3 weeks, Buck's labs had been normal enough and he was back to the normal blood level needed. All he had to do next was to wake up. Diaz had taken more time off of shift so he could be there when Buck awoke. Diaz had been sitting there holding Buck's hand and then he said, "You can't stay awake this long, stubborn." He had then fallen asleep there in the chair and was asleep for about 30 mins until he felt his hand being squeezed. "Eddie?" Buck said, voice barely above a whisper. "I'm right here Buck, I have been for these 3 weeks." Diaz said. "You have?" Buck asked, staring him in the eyes and his voice muffled from the mask. He then shook his head yes. Buck then started to take the mask off and did not get stopped by Diaz. "don't you remember getting stabbed?" Diaz questioned. "Well, I do remember hearing something coming from the outside, and so I went outside and then that is when it all became black." Buck said. "You didn't see his face?" Diaz asked. "No, I was facing towards the house and he came from behind." Buck said. "Well, Athena found who it was." Diaz said. "Who was it ?" Buck asked. "It was Chuck, the one that told you to sue the city, he confessed to it all." Diaz said. "He did?" Buck said, yawning. He then fell asleep and then Diaz stayed there.
He had then slept for a couple more hours and then noticed Diaz still by his side. "You've been here all along?" He questioned, looking Diaz in the eyes. "Yes, I never left here besides going to spend time with Chris and going to shift." Diaz said. He then tried to move positions a little and was in some pain. He then winced and then Diaz moved towards him. "Woah easy there, you're still in pain from the surgery 3 weeks ago." Diaz said. The doctor had given Buck the pain medicine an hour later and it was making him sleepy again. The doctor had then told Diaz that Buck could go home within this next week, but had to be watched in case he ripped his stitches. Buck had been in the hospital for almost a month and he was tired of staying in an uncomfortable bed.
Buck then was finally discharged from the hospital and Diaz had brought him a change of comfy clothes that he could change into. He and Diaz then walked out of the hospital, with a little assistance from Diaz because he was in some pain still, but the doctor had given Diaz the pain medicine for him. Once they both reached the car, Diaz had helped Buck in because he didn't want to risk tearing the stitches. Once they were both in, Diaz then drove off towards Buck's place. Once he reached the apartment, Diaz parked the car and then helped Buck out and then went up the stairs. Buck was not due on shift for another month. Buck was still in pain when he reached the inside and got on the couch. Diaz had stocked the fridge when Buck was in the hospital, but he didn't know that. He had immediately fallen asleep on the couch in the most comfortable position as possible and where there was no pain.
Bobby had been over a few times to check to see how he was doing and tell Diaz that the others were still serving their consequences. Diaz was happy that the others deserved what they needed. The stitches that Buck had were sort of the type that Diaz could cut out, and he knew how to cut them out. He had to keep the stitches in for another week, and he would still feel some pain, but not that much. Buck had been able to get up on his own a couple days before he had to get the stitches out. Diaz was then able to cut the stitches out after a week so Buck could be pain free. The stitches were then removed and then thrown away by Diaz. Buck had winced a little when he was cutting them, but it didn't hurt that bad. He had then walked up to his bed and immediately fell asleep once he hit it. Diaz had done the dishes and put the pillows back on the couch.
It had been a month, Buck was due back on shift. He and Diaz had driven their separate vehicles, and both arrived at the same time. Bobby had then been the only one that greeted them, Chim and Hen still serving their consequences because they still had not fixed their relationship between Buck and Diaz. Hen had finally thought to herself that she was being stupid all this time and not going to the hospital and see Buck. She had been making a fool out of herself and not having a true friendship with Buck and Diaz. She then put down the mop and walked towards the locker room where they were. Buck then turned his head towards the door when he heard it open. "Hello Buck." she said. "Hello." he said. "I know I have been a fool for not coming to the hospital to see you, but I didn't want to be in there again in just 2 months." she said. "That's fine, but you shouldn't have lied to Diaz like you did." he said. "Yeah, your right, I shouldn't have, but it was Chim's idea to lie." She said. "Chim's stubborn, he always has been." he said. "Your right, he is, but welcome back Buck." she said, embracing him in a hug. She then got up and walked out and Buck did the same thing 5 minutes later. Diaz had been watching from the bay because he was already out of the locker room. It had taken some time for Chim to apologize to Buck, but he eventually did and he meant it this time. They all had been back to normal and Diaz was happy that it was.
