Buck and Diaz had taken the shift off so they could spend time with Chris at the movies spending time with him due to their shifts starting to get a mess. Diaz had woken up that morning with a stabbing pain when he coughed and he was not feeling so great so he shook it off and went with Buck and Chris and didn't feel good again at the movies. He had been sitting on the opposite side of Chris and Buck was on the other side. Buck had been occupied by the movie and Diaz had been trying not to pass out. He had not drank anything today and then tried to stand up without getting dizzy. He had gotten dizzy for just a little bit but he could manage. He then walked towards the entrance and then towards the bathroom. Buck had been a little too occupied with the movie that he didn't acknowledge Diaz leaving the movie. Diaz then reached the bathroom and locked the door so no one could come in. He had then been standing there at the sink and then started to get dizzy again. He finally then succumbed to the darkness and collapsed onto the floor.

The movie was then over and then Buck just now knew Diaz was missing. "Where's your dad Chris?" he asked. "I don't know." he said back to Buck. Buck then started to walk around the movie theater until he found the bathroom door was locked. "Diaz, you in there?" Buck said, knocking on the door. And when he heard no response, that meant trouble. Buck then ran to the movie counter and told someone to call 911. The manager then called 911 and Buck had told the manager what was going on. The 118 was cleaning the trucks when they got the call. The 118 then arrived at the theater and then Bobby noticed Buck. "BUCK." Bobby yelled. Buck then turned his head towards who was yelling at him and it was Bobby so he ran over and said, "Diaz is locked in the bathroom and he won't respond." he said. "Diaz is in there?" Chim questioned. Buck shook his head yes. "Alright, Buck go grab the crowbars." Bobby said. Buck then ran to the truck and grabbed two crowbars and ran back.

He then gave one to Bobby and then he ran over to the bathroom door and then stuck the crowbar in the door and then put his gloves on and then told Bobby to strike the crowbar until the door came open. The door then swung open and Buck then let Chim and Hen inside and Buck stood there with Chris trying to keep him from not getting upset. When Chim reached Diaz, he noticed that he was feverish and pale. "Hey Buck." Chim said. "Yeah?" Buck asked. "Did Diaz ever mention to you that he wasn't feeling good?" he asked. "No, he never mentioned anything at all, he was just quiet." he said. Hen then grabbed the thermometer and then took his temperature and then when she took it his temperature was reading 101.5 F. Diaz had been groaning here and there with no response. "Bobby, he's burning up; temp's reading 101.5." she said. "We can put fluids in and then get him ready for transport, that's all we can do pretty much." Chim said. "We'd also have to place the monitors on." he added on. "Alright, do that and Buck go grab the stretcher." Bobby said. Buck then ran back to the 118's ambulance and grabbed the stretcher out. He then wheeled it in and then left it back next to the door and then went back over with Chris.

The monitors and fluids then were attached to Diaz and then Chim and Hen were ready to transport. The stretcher was then wheeled over close to the door and then rolled up to the door straight. Chim grabbed Diaz by the feet and Hen grabbed under his arms. They then lifted at the same time, with Bobby leading the machines. Buck had called Carla to come get Chris so he would not get terrified. Buck had gone with Chim and Hen in the ambulance in case Hen needed someone to help her in the back. Once Diaz was loaded in, Chim drove the ambulance off. About 5 minutes in, the alarms started to go off. Buck had been sitting above Diaz's head and Hen was to the side. She then looked at the monitors and said, "Damn it, SATS are below 80." She then grabbed the stethoscope and listened to his lungs. "Damn it, he's raspy." Hen said, grabbing the ET tube. Buck then moved out of the way so she could insert the tube. She then lifted Diaz's chin back and then inserted it down and then attached the bag and then gave the bag to Buck to start pumping. She then went back over to where she was and started to assess more.

Chim had then got to the hospital in 15 minutes. The doctors and nurses were waiting for them when they arrived. Buck had handed the bagging to a nurse. Chim then filled the doctors and nurses in "26 year old male, collapsed in the bathroom at the movie theater, temp reading 101.5, GCS is 3, no reaction, unresponsive, intubated in route." Chim said. Diaz was then whisked away into a room and it left the others waiting. Bobby had showed up an hour later. Meanwhile back in the room, Diaz was hooked on the vent and the doctors and nurses were trying everything they could to get his temperature down. They had hooked up more fluids and then got test after test to see what was wrong. They eventually found that Diaz was dehydrated and that he had severe pneumonia, which caused him to have to be intubated and according to the Xray the doctor ordered. "Keep him on 2 bags a fluid an hour with antibiotics and keep him on the vent." the doctor said. "And then get him to the ICU." the doctor then added on. Diaz was then ready to move up to the ICU. The doctor then went to go find Buck and the others in the private waiting room. It had been 2 hours the others had been waiting, Buck had then been pacing back and forth. The door to the private room was then opened and then the doctor walked in. Buck then had stopped pacing and took a seat next to Hen. "Well, it turns out that he has severe pneumonia and is dehydrated which has caused him to be placed in a coma and on the vent." the doctor said.

"We would have never gone if he told me he was not feeling good.." Buck said to himself. "Will he ever come out of the coma?" Hen questioned. "Well, like I said, his pneumonia is severe, and I would have to take another X-ray in 2 weeks to see if it clears with the antibiotics." the doctor said. "Can we see him?" Chim asked. Buck had snuck away outside when the others were occupied talking to the doctor and went outside and found a bench nearest to the hospital and sat down. Meanwhile, the others were then led to Diaz's ICU room. Chim had been the first to walk in, Bobby was the last, Athena had showed up a couple minutes before the others were in the room and then she noticed no sign of Buck. "Does anyone know where Buck is?" she questioned. "No, I never even saw him leave." Bobby said. "Let me go find him." she said. She then walked outside and that is when she noticed Buck, sitting on the bench. "Buck, what are you doing outside?" she asked. He then looked up and saw Athena standing there. "I messed up, if he told me he was not feeling good, we would have never taken Chris to the movies." he said. "He probably was hiding his sickness and still went, he wanted to not let down Chris." she said. "He still could have told me though." he said. "Diaz is stubborn, just like you were when you were in your coma for 2 weeks 5 months ago." she said. "Your right, I've been blaming this on me all along, I've been stupid to not realize that he was stubborn and not wanting to tell me." he said. "You wanna go inside now?" she asked. "Yeah, I've been stupid enough today, so let's just go." he said. They then both walked inside and Athena led him to Diaz's room. The others had been gathered around the bed and didn't notice Buck or Athena walk in until the door opened. When he walked in, he saw the machine connected to the vent, the IV on Diaz's right arm, BP cuff and Pulse OX on the other arm and the heart monitor beeping to keep Buck company. Since Buck was off duty, someone else had been filling in for him. Bobby's radio then went off because they had a call so they left, including Athena and it was just Buck in the room. He then took in the pale and flushed face that he saw. Diaz was the type to tell no one that he was sick, Buck didn't fully understand why he didn't tell people but it was Diaz. Bobby had given Buck enough time off so he could be there at the hospital. A couple days had passed and Buck had then gone home to take a shower and grab a change of clothes or 2 for Diaz at his place so he can change into them when he wakes. Fast forward a couple weeks and Diaz was due for another X-ray to see if his lungs were clear enough with the antibiotics and the fluids he was getting every hour.

Luckily the hospital had an X-ray that was transportable to the rooms. The X-ray technicians then came into the room with the X-ray and Buck had to step out of the room for a split second so they could take the X-ray. After about 30 seconds, they were done and wheeled it away and Buck was able to go back in the room. After about an hour, the doctor came in to talk to Buck. But what the others had not told Buck that Diaz's heart rate was beating at least 140 and the doctor had corrected that and his heart rate was normal. "Well, it looks like his pneumonia is cleared up 80% of the way and we expect him to come off the vent either later tonight or early tomorrow." the doctor said. "When will he be able to come back to work after he is released?" Buck questioned. "I expect him to rest for least for a day or two before going back to work." the doctor said. The doctor then left and Buck thanked the doctor for everything they did. He had also been updating the others as well throughout the stay. Early that next morning while Buck was still asleep, the doctor and nurse came in so they could remove the tube and move the ventilation system out of Diaz's room. Buck and Diaz had 2 things in common: deep sleep. When the tube was being removed, Diaz had coughed a little and never opened his eyes. The nurse then placed the mask over his face and then wheeled the machine out and threw the tube away. Buck then woke an hour later and then noticed that the tube was removed and there was a mask placed on Diaz's face. He was sleeping through the whole time when Diaz was getting off the vent. He had texted Chim and told him the good news and then placed his phone back in his pocket. Buck was planning to bring Chris in to see his dad sometime, but he didn't know when he was yet. Fast forward to the almost 3 week mark, Buck had noticed some change with Diaz, his face was not flushed or pale anymore due to the fluids he was receiving. Buck had been whispering something in Diaz's ear here and there so he could know that he was there for him. Buck had been sitting there on the couch that was against the wall browsing through his phone and that is when he heard a cough come out of Diaz. Buck had already poured a cup of water just in case he woke up. "Buck?" he said, voice raspy a little. "I'm right here." Buck said. "What happened?" he asked. "You collapsed in the bathroom at the movie theater and you had severe pneumonia and was dehydrated just a little bit which caused you to be ventilated and be put in the ICU." Buck said.

"You've been here the whole time?" he questioned. "Yes, I have, Bobby gave me time off so I can be here." Buck said. "Here, help me sit up a little." he said. Buck then helped Diaz sit up a little so he could be as comfy as possible since he was laying at sort of an angle for 3 weeks. Buck had also tucked the bag he brought behind a chair and he then got it and grabbed Diaz's change of clothes that he brought for him. Diaz had already been asleep quicker than Buck usually was and he then placed the clothes onto the side table for Diaz to find them easier. Diaz had then found the clothes an hour later and then walked towards the bathroom and changed into them, being careful of his IV. Diaz had then been moved out of the ICU. Buck had then planned that he would sneak out tomorrow when Diaz was asleep still so he could go get Chris. He had already called ahead and told Carla that he was coming to get Chris. Buck then snuck out and drove towards Chris that next morning and when he pulled up Chris was already outside waiting for Buck to come. "Hey Buddy, you ready?" Buck asked. "Yeah." he said. Chris and Buck then walked to the car and they then both got in and then Buck drove off towards the hospital. Diaz was still asleep when they walked in so Buck led Chris into the bathroom to hide. Diaz had then woke up 30 minutes later and Buck was sitting on the couch browsing through his phone. "Well, hello there sleeping beauty." Buck said. "I am not, stop doing that." Diaz said. "Alright, but I'll keep that to myself." Buck said. "One more thing." Buck said. "What's that?" Diaz questioned. "Just wait." Buck said. Buck then walked to the bathroom door and then opened and closed it so he could fix Chris's shirt. Buck then opened the door again and let Chris walk out first.

"Buck, what the hell did you do?" Diaz questioned. "Well, I know you have not had no contact with Chris for 3 weeks, so I figured it would be best if I brought him here." Buck said. "Come here Buddy." Buck said, helping Chris onto the bed. Chris then brought Diaz into a hug and held him and he did the same. Buck then had to take Chris back home after a couple hours because he was starting to get tired. Diaz was happy that he had got to see Chris after 3 weeks. Buck had told Diaz that he would be discharged within the next day. That next morning, Diaz was then discharged and Buck didn't tell the others that he was being discharged. Buck had the perfect idea in mind that he would go to the station with Diaz and then surprise the others that he was coming by with Diaz. Buck had already told Diaz that he was doing the plan and he was going along with it. They both then walked out of the hospital and to Buck's car and got in and Buck drove off towards the station. The others had been occupied with other stuff so they didn't acknowledge Buck and Diaz walking in. "Alright, Chim you know I clean the trucks better than you do, you missed a spot." Diaz said. Chim then looked up at the voice and then noticed it was Diaz. "Hey, what in the hell are you doing here?" Chim questioned. "Well, I got discharged, so that's what I am doing here." Diaz said. Diaz had luckily still had the hospital bracelet on. Bobby and Hen then walked up to all the commotion and noticed Diaz standing there. "Well, what a surprise." Bobby said, pulling Diaz into a hug. "Well, we'll be all back to normal soon." Buck said. "What do you mean?" Hen asked. "Diaz here only has to rest for a couple days or so and then he's back on shift." Buck said. They all then talked for a good hour before Diaz had started to yawn. Buck had then decided to take him home so he could rest.

Buck then pulled the car up to the house and let Diaz get out and then drove off back towards his apartment. The first thing Diaz walked to when he got inside was his own bed and then draped the covers over him and then fell asleep. He had then been asleep for at least 2 hours which he needed because he was sore from the hospital bed. Chris had then shown an hour later and Diaz greeted him at the door. Chris had finally been back home and in his dad's arms. Diaz needed to rest for at least 2 days and Chris was there to comfort him. Diaz was up early the day of his first shift in a while because he had to get Chris ready and then drop him off and then go to shift. Chris was then dropped off and Diaz drove towards the fire house. Buck had already been there waiting for him to arrive, once he saw the familiar car pull up he waited for him to pull it in park and get out. He had already placed his bag inside his locker and was waiting for Diaz to show. He then got out of the car and met Buck there at the front where he was waiting. It had been quiet when he walked in and that was unusual. Buck had never told him that they had something planned for his return. Everyone had always had their uniforms on when they arrived so it would be easier for them so they could get to work faster. Everyone had popped out when Diaz walked in with Buck and it scared him. "Why! You know I hate being scared." he said. "Well, we're just glad you're back." Bobby said. Diaz had finally returned and the crew was back to normal after the last 3 weeks.
