Chapter 16M
May rested herself on the pokemon center bench, still exhausted at how close she and Brendan had come to their first loss. May pulled up her sweater, and silently remarked on how little she had had to talk for specific places. She saw her right arm hold up her phone, and quickly confirmed her sweater had muffled her.
"What is it?"
Brendan typed in "It's just that we came way too close to losing that time."
"Yeah, that was way too close. If battles are that close to the Ace Trainers, we have to train."
May nodded, then got up to receive her pokemon.
After receiving the pokeballs back, May ran into the woods to train. She released the Radots, while Brendan let loose the Treekips.
May knelt down, and got ready to speak. Her mind was racing, but she shook it off. No time for doubt.
"That was a close one, but you two pulled it off. Nice work!" May smiled, and started to reach out to pat them. She suddenly changed her mind though, as she realized that it'd be impossible to pat Brendan's pokemon too.
"We're going to need to train hard if we want to complete the gym. We're gonna train real hard, and soon we can win! Let's do this!" With this, the pokemon from both May and Brendan were ready for a fight. Deciding to train the Treekips first, May told the Radots to do what they wanted while she controlled (M)Treekip.
May moved to her spot, then got ready to train.
First, May chose Leafage, three fingers. As she held them out, she remarked at how unoriginal the journey had been. After all, the hardest challenge had been coordinating movement. So long as the two of them avoided specific situations, not even battling would be problematic.
The leaves struck (M)Radot, but did almost nothing. May was initially confused, but then realized it made sense. Seedots are grass type, and they resist grass type attacks. Seedot also has some defence, so the physical attack would end up barely affecting (M)Radot. (M)Radot made following strikes weaker by using Harden.
Quick Attack, May decided, would be the best option for damage. It was quick, and would deal the most damage. The quick strike went through, but then (M)Radot ran forwards and made a loud noise. This actually did visible damage to (M)Treekip, and May knew that (M)Radot had used Astonish.
May didn't change her fingers, indicating to keep using Quick Attack. However, (M)Treekip dashed right by (M)Radot, signaling a miss. May almost couldn't believe it, Quick Attack always hit! But then she remembered that (B)Radot knew Double Team, and must have used it. (M)Radot shook May back to reality, with a strike directly to the body of (M)Treekip, delivered by Tackle.
(M)Radot delivered another Tackle shortly after, and (M)Treekip responded with a Pound directly to the body.
May smiled at (M)Treekip's choice, and decided to finish it off with Quick Attack.
The dash struck (M)Radot into the ground, and the swirly eyes of fainting appeared.
May let Brendan recall the two, then went to the pokemon center to heal up.
