Yes! I am back; you have not seen things, been thinking about what to do for this 6th chapter for a long time because I am kind of running out of Ideas, but I would love any of y'all's ideas for a chapter!

Diaz had got no sleep in the last couple days, no one had noticed. Hell, Diaz didn't even KNOW he was getting sick again, he just thought it was a cold. He was lucky the 118 had bunkrooms, so he was able to sleep some before they had another call. Buck had been doing work and noticed Diaz was nowhere. Diaz was getting dizzy, and having chest pains, so he had to get some sleep to see if the dizziness wore off. But he was almost to the bed when the dizziness overcame him and everything went dark. He hit the edge of the bed on his way down and caused a cut on his forehead. After about an hour, Chim was the one to find Diaz. "Guys, come here!" he yelled. Buck was the first one to round the corner, "Is he responding at all?" he asked. Chim shook his head no, "Damn, he never even told anyone that he wasn't feeling good." Buck said. "You know how he is; stubborn." Chim said. Hen and Bobby both then came in with the bags. Hen then noticed the pale, flushed face of Diaz. "Buck, clean the head wound." she then said, handing him the gauze. He then took the gauze and started to clean the wound and then bandage it.

Chim then got on 2 knees and put his knuckles on Diaz's chest and rubbed his sternum to see if he would respond again. "Eddie, can you hear me?" he said. They then heard a moan. At least they got something out of him, but he still wasn't opening his eyes. They had already placed the monitors on and then Buck was the one to notice that his heart rate was getting higher, "Hey Hen, his heart rate is getting high." he said. She then looked at the monitor as well and said, "Damn, he's tachycardic, we gotta get going now." she said. The alarm on the monitor then went off, his oxygen levels were now getting low; Chim then said, "We have to intubate." Bobby was the one that grabbed the intubation tube and kit and then started bagging when he was through. "What could this even be?" Buck said, leaning against the wall. "I really don't have a clue, I'm suspecting it's broken ribs or food poisoning." Hen said. Now they had to transport; so Buck went to get the stretcher out of the ambulance and bring it over. They did the normal things they did when loading someone onto the stretcher and they then took off, lights and sirens. Bobby called ahead to the hospital and let them know that they were bringing someone in.

Meanwhile, Buck cleaned the bed sheets off the one bed that Diaz hit his head on. The sheets were now in the washer getting cleaned, so he now placed fresh ones on the bed. Hen and Chim then arrived back at the station about an hour later. "Well, my assumption was right. Eddie's got severe food poisoning, the doctor said the containment was Campylobacter, they did place him in the ICU and he's on the ventilator still." Hen said. "How's the head gash?" Bobby asked. "One of the nurses stitched it up and cleaned it." Chim said. Buck then knew that he had to go see him, but he couldn't, he had to wait till this shift was over. They then had call after call, and the time had finally come; Buck was able to go to the hospital. A nurse eventually showed him to Diaz's room. And when he walked in; his face was still pale as it was earlier, and all the familiar machines on the side. He then walked to the side of the bed to where there was nothing in his way and he sat down in a residing chair on the side.

He still couldn't believe Diaz was sick again, but he also understood that he was also stubborn, they both were. He was there for a couple hours before he left because he had to be back on shift tomorrow and he usually was the 1st one to get to the 118. He then arrived at the 118 that next morning before the others and got dressed. They then all gathered upstairs and Bobby started breakfast. "So Buck, did you go to the hospital last night?" Bobby asked, flipping the eggs in the skillet. "Yeah, but I was only there for a couple of hours because I had to wake up early. He's still pale, but not the ghostly pale like he was before." Buck said, fiddling around with a napkin. "Did you talk to the doctor?" Hen said. "Yeah, the doctor said that they are giving him antibiotics around the clock every hour." Buck said, now grabbing a glass of milk. "You both are definitely stubborn." Chim said. Once breakfast was finished, they all then started on their normal tasks. Buck had then thought, he needed to take time off, he needed to be there for Diaz. He walked up to Bobby a short time later and said, "Hey Bobby I was wondering if you could give me time off so I can be at the hospital with Eddie." "Buck, you know you can take all the time you need." he said, placing a resting hand on his shoulder. He then nodded in agreement and thanked Bobby and went back to work.

The shift had ended, and Buck went straight for the hospital, after changing into his day clothes that is. He then arrived at the hospital 45 minutes later and went to Diaz's room. He got the same chair he was in the day prior and kept watch on Diaz's breathing. Fast forward a week later, and Diaz was off the ventilator and Buck was still keeping watch on his breathing. Buck had been sleeping on and off, he tried to keep himself occupied while waiting. The antibiotics had stopped near the 2 week mark, Buck had also eventually returned to work because he needed to be back and forth somehow. The weekends had thankfully been time that all of them had off and not working. Buck had been at the hospital for a couple of hours now, he had seen signs of Diaz slowly waking up but it depended on the stubbornness that he had. Buck then saw movement slowly coming out of Diaz's hands and then his eyes slowly opening. He then stood up immediately and sat on the edge of the bed. "Take it easy there Eddie." he said. "B-buck?" Diaz said, who sounded still tired. "I'm right here. So don't think that I am going anywhere." Buck said. Diaz then fell back asleep because he was still tired. After about an hour, Diaz woke up again and he didn't feel tired and Buck went to Diaz's place to get him a change of clothes. He then changed into the clothes which made him feel a lot more comfortable in the bed because he had been in it for 2, almost 3 weeks now.

Diaz was finally released from the hospital a few days after he woke up. He was lucky that Chris wasn't in town at the time because he was with grandparents in Texas. The rest of 118 had come by here and then to his place because Diaz needed the company. He was then finally able to come back to work after about a week. "You know you could tell us when you are sick don't you know that?" Buck said, when they were both walking into the 118. "Yeah, I know that but my mind kept telling me to go lay down in the bunkroom." Diaz said. The 118 had been together forever, no one was letting them stop that; no one will, they all knew that.

It'll take me time to get the next chapter up, but I'll catch you next time in Chapter 7!
