Chapter 18B
Brendan was panicking internally. The Radots had just gone down, and the Treekips would have to win outmatched and probably, outleveled. (B)Treekip was up, and Brendan held out 4 fingers, for Rock Smash. The resulting strike actually one-shot the Vigoroth, and James was not ready for that.
"Wow, you did some damage. Well, it's time for Slaking to come through."
Then, Brendan felt his mouth move. "Remember, Slakings have Truant, so we have a free strike. Focus on those Rock Smashes, i'll do what I can." Brendan nodded, knowing this came from May. (B)Treekip looked back, and Brendan nodded to (B)Treekip, a sign to keep up the Rock Smashes. Focus Energy was the only thing in response, but Brendan knew that a single strike would mean certain doom. Brendan could only wait and hope the Treekips could evade long enough...
Truant kept the Slaking from striking again, and a strong strike sent Slaking staggering. Slack Off wouldn't do damage, only heal. It would be ok, since the Treekips would win in the end. Still, (B)Treekip winced, signaling that (M)Treekip was struck.
Rock Smash sent the Slaking back, and it definitely took a toll on the Slaking. A free strike went out after that, due to Truant. However, Hammer Arm struck next, almost instantly bringing (B)Treekip down. Getting bored of using the same move again and again, Brendan switched to Water Gun. During the next time Truant came into effect, (B)Treekip took down Slaking with a critical Rock Smash.
"Well, I wasn't expecting that! You trained your pokemon surprisingly well, and I am proud to present you with the Balance Badge. You're gonna go far, I can tell."
Brendan heard May thank James, and grab the badge. He quickly turned and ran out before James could ask anything.
He stopped by the pokemon center, and got the Radots and Treekips healed. He held his head up high, and walked out.
Outside, a man in white stood. He looked at Brendan with a sneer.
"You're coming with me, whether you like it or not."
