"So what's the case?" Bobby asked.

"Last night, a jewelry store got robbed." Jack explained.

"And we're just getting this now? It's 2 in the afternoon. The perp could almost be literally on the other side of the world by now." Myles interrupted.

"The police were going to handle it," Jack continued, glaring at his teammate. "However, when they found out how much was stolen, it got bumped to us."

"And it takes some time to climb our ladders." Bobby concluded.

Jack nodded. "Yeah. And Myles does have a point. We have to work quickly. Who knows where this perp is. Mya, the footage from the store and surrounding stores is on the way to you right now, go through it immediately. Witness statements are coming to you, Sarah, you and Myles see if there's anything useful in them. Forensics is there now, but Bobby, come with me to the scene?"

His friend nodded as he got up. "You know, I didn't get Darcy a Christmas gift. Maybe I can pick one up for a steal."

Laughing as the two friends walked out of the room, Jack lightly punched Bobby's shoulder. "Yeah. Exactly what you want to do right now. Besides, I think she'd kill you, sending her a Christmas gift weeks after the fact."

Bobby chuckled as they walked out of the room. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I can just say I forgot the holiday altogether."

"No, don't do that!" His friend exclaimed as he pressed the button for the elevator.

"Why not?" Bobby innocently asked.

Realizing a response wouldn't do any good, Jack just shook his head and chuckled. "Never mind. Elevator's here." He said as the elevator doors opened.

"Great! Let's go solve this case!" He happily exclaimed as the two agents entered the elevator, ready to get on with their work.

?-?

"Hey," Jack said, walking up to an officer that was guarding the scene. "FBI, we're here to check out the scene?"

The officer nodded, then stepped a few steps back to let them through.

"Well, the front looks good." Bobby said, looking at the front of the store.

"They drilled a hole in the back." A detective said, walking up to the two agents. "Hi, Detective Samantha Jorden." She said, extending her hand.

"Hi." Bobby said, shaking her hand. "I take it you were one of the detectives that caught the case?"

She nodded as she let go. "Would you like a run-through?"

"That would be helpful, thanks." Jack replied.

"Then let's go." She stated, then led the two agents to the back alley to see the large hole that was next to the back door. "Because they didn't enter any of the usual ways, you know, door, window, roof, whatnot, the alarm didn't set off. No one knew anything happened until the manager came in this morning."

"We were told there was a huge amount stolen?" Bobby asked.

Samantha nodded. "Yep. Come, look." She said, then led them through the back door and through the hallway to the main shop, where forensics was still dusting. "Here." She said, waving to one glass counter with a beautiful blue velvet pillow, a large gem imprint in the center. There was only one thing missing; the gem.

"What was here?" Jack asked as he and his friend knelt down to look closer.

"Just about the biggest diamond you'll ever see in your life." She replied, leaning up against the counter, her arms crossed.

Bobby whistled. "And these thieves took it?"

Samantha rolled her eyes. "Of course."

"Why didn't the owners have extra security around the diamond?" Jack asked as he and his friend stood up.

She shrugged. Thought it was safe, I suppose. I don't know. Sometimes when people live and work in safe neighborhoods, they never expect anything bad to happen."

"You got that right." Bobby replied.

"Has forensics found anything?" Jack asked, getting them back on track.

"Nothing major," she said, shaking her head. "But they did find hundreds of prints. It'll take them a while to process through them. Most of them are customers and employees. Boy, it'll be hard to track all of them down."

Just then, one of Samantha's fellow detectives called her, leaving the two FBI agents to themselves. "Let's see, if I just stole a ginormous diamond, what would I want to do with it?" Bobby asked, frowning as he stared at where the diamond should be.

"Sell it?" Jack suggested.

He nodded. "Yes, but how? It's a hot and rare item. No one's going to want to buy something that seems suspicious. If someone was going to sell something like that, they'd probably show proof of ownership or something."

"Yeah. So why would they steal something that cannot be sold?"

"I got it." Bobby announced, eyes wide.

"What?" His friend anticipatedly asked.

"You know of any shady diamond cutters?"

Jack squeezed his eyes shut and winced. "Oh no."
