26th April 2019: The Other Half Of His Heart Was Gone
He had a lead and that was something he was hopeful about. He was hoping he would find her today and that Simon's help had become useful, he was ever so grateful for his son stepping in and helping him when he did. He couldn't be more thankful for the way his family stepped in and helped him in his time of need as well as hers and today he was hoping to get her home so he could protect her once more by helping her get the help she needed which was something that he blindly ignored after his father stressed to him how ill she was.
He enlisted the help of Michelle, no one else really didn't seem like they cared but with Michelle sitting on the fence trying to play neutral, he enlisted the help of her instead of her actual family which were so wrapped up in other things. In a way, he was grateful that he would have someone who knew him as well as know her by his side at this moment in time. Robert was sceptical about letting her go to sketchy squat but overall she wanted to do this because she didn't want to lose her friend in a similar way she lost of her family members.
They got in a streetcars cab and drove off to the Brightwell Estate in a bid to find her again, in a bid to protect her from the demons which were playing in their own private playground within her tortured mind. She directed him knowing the best route off by heart, after all, she knew where Carla resided as a kid better than anyone.
It was worse than she had described and that was something considering she painted her old estate in such a way a holiday to hell seemed more appealing. He pulled up to the house, the chipboard covering the windows which were no doubt smashed during raids. He gulped but the woman next to him smiled and radiated some sort of cocky confidence which made him raise his eyebrows at why he was so scared all along when he had someone who knew these people off by heart, he was essentially the muscle and she was the bargaining power. He approached the door and kicked the chipboard down, they headed in and were greeted by a man, with a beard, he looked like he was dragged through a bush backwards but Michelle was there with her bargaining powers whilst he looked around the surroundings.
"She was here," he says after Michelle shows him a photo of Carla on her phone "She left a couple of days ago"
"Seriously?" she raises an eyebrow "This woman, here?"
"Yeah I'm not blind" he retorts "What's 'e doing?"
"Drugs" he mutters picking up a needle, Michelle's eyes widen "Did she do drugs here?"
"No, I don't know, I'm not 'er keeper" he grumbles, Peter sees red and grabs this man by his shirt "Let go of me!"
"Carla wouldn't do drugs, Peter, she hated the poison her Mum did, she wouldn't do that even if she was out of her mind"
"Well, I hope so!" Peter exclaims "I want her back Michelle"
"And we'll find her but she's obviously not here now, we're just going to have to keep looking"
"What if we don't find her, I'm running out of ideas here" he laments, she places a hand on his shoulder "We need her back"
"I know we do, we'll just have to go home and have a long hard think about everything" she nods "Thank you for your help"
"Look she might still be in the area, she was pretty desperate" the man panics not liking the thought of Peter's presence so he decided that he would just reveal all
"Desperate how?"
"Well, she was convinced that someone was out to get her, she did something bad apparently, none of it made sense, I was convinced she was on something"
"What did she say exactly?" he asks desperately "Please?"
"Something about Ra...Ra...-"
"Rana?" Michelle narrows her eyes, the man nods "Ok what else?"
"She's out there and alive and that she was out to get her, that's all I know, she would make a racket, she did other things but I'm not saying, I'm not risking my life"
"Thank you" Peter nods pulling out a wad of cash "Here, thank you so much for your help"
"No problem"
"Come on, she's obviously not here, like you said" Peter glances to Michelle, they leave the house and get in the cab "Any other ideas?"
"No none, we'll have to ask Johnny he might know some of her old haunts maybe but I've exhausted all options, we've tried Aidan's grave I just don't know where else we can try"
"What if they were lying?" he frets she takes his hand trying to give him the comfort "I can't bear someone knowing something that we don't and lying to our faces"
"Peter the state she's in, she was bound to leave some sort of evidence that she was still there, she wasn't there...there was no way, you know what she's like when she's ina state she leaves bits and bobs all over the place"
"This is a different kind of state though, maybe she's trying not to leave any traces of herself because she's afraid people sill find her"
"Well we'll just have to try and be hopeful, we'll find her, I promise, we just need to keep trying"
"Thank you for today, I'm sorry if I got you in trouble with Robert"
"Oh ignore him, I can handle myself"
"Yeah as I saw" he chuckles slightly "Let's head home and tell everyone the disappointing news not that they probably care"
"They do care, it's just difficult for them that's all, Kate, she's grieving"
"Still, Johnny's her father, doesn't show any ounce of responsibility to her throughout her life now when something like this happens he barely cares"
"I care" she smiles "I just don't want to choose sides, I just want to support everyone as a whole"
"That's understandable" he smiles, thankful that he had some sort of explanation to her neutral behaviour "Hopefully she'll come home"
"All we can do is hope"
