Jessie's alarm rang. I woke up. Funny how the world works eh? Sometimes I could kiss the universe for making me a light sleeper and Jessie a freaking dead log. But that's life. I rolled overthrowing a pillow in Jessie's direction before getting up. I heard the satisfying THUMP and yet all Jessie did was snore.

"Is Jessie awake yet?" a voice shrieked from below

I sighed and screamed back "no! but I am if anyone cares".

Shaking the sleeping idiot one more time, I left the room pushing my hair out of my eyes. As I entered the room below I saw a crowd of people looking at me eagerly before realizing it was in fact me and not darling Jessie. They turned away muttering "it's not Jessie" or "just the sister".

"Gee thanks" I rolled my eyes and went to the cupboard above the sink. I was pulling out a bowl when someone grabbed my hand causing me to shriek and throw the said bowl at my attacker.

"What the hell was that for?" my attacker groaned "I just wanted to ask you when Jessie was going to wake up!" My attacker was a blond surfer dude. One of Jessie's friends. He stared at me obviously waiting for my apology. I stared back waiting for his. He had attacked me first after all. He shook his head turning away "freak"

I shrugged pulling out another bowl and started making my breakfast.

"When is Jessie coming down?"

I winced, Jessie had a lot of shrill whiny friends and hearing their voices wasn't my favorite way to start my day.

Blond surfer dude replied to the shrill thing "no clue, I asked the sister but she just freaked out on me"

"Ugh, how are they related?" shrill thing replied "she is so ick and Jessie is…well Jessie"

I raised my eyebrow. Hello. I'm right here. I mean ouch. Seriously. Dear Merlin, people could be insensitive idiots.

Shrill thing continued whining so I finally groaned "go up and check for yourself for Merlin's sake!"

She scrunched up her nose "Jessie doesn't like us going upstairs" she looked away quickly not wanting to continue the conversation.

I cocked my head to the side considering this. Of all the insults thrown at me this indirect one probably hurt the most. Jessie not wanting these idiots up in our room meant hiding the fact we both shared a room and were in fact on talking terms from them.

I put the bowl down and went in the direction of the stairs. I wanted these people gone and for that I needed Jessie awake. But before I even made it up one step, Jessie had made his grand appearance "Hello sister" he put his arm around me.

I scowled "your posse has arrived"

"My po… oh my friends you mean" Jessie removed his arm and quickly went into the hall. Squeals and laughter erupted immediately. I watched as Jessie lifted the shrill thing in the air and spin her around. He didn't mind her shrillness or any of them for that matter. He actually enjoyed their company. And they his.

I didn't blame everyone for loving Jessie. He was lovable. Always had been. And according to everyone he was good looking too. I didn't share this sentiment. I mean sure, he had brown wavy hair and hazel eyes, but so did a million other people. But he was apparently dreamy so I went with it. I was dreamy McGee's sister. No seriously, that was my name to the rest of the world. And they called me weird. I went upstairs not bothering to look back into the hall. I wouldn't be missed.

The rest of the day passed peacefully. And by peacefully I meant no Jessie. It wasn't as though I didn't like my brother, it was just that I didn't like the crowd that seemed to stick to him. The only time he was alone was in our room at home. When we went to school, I barely saw him. At school we didn't share a room.

"Hi sweety"

I looked up from my book "hi Mother"

My mom or rather my step- mom smiled at me. that was a surprise. she usually was too drunk to notice I was at home. She wasn't an evil step-mother or anything, she was nice. She was your typical socialite and A gullible airhead. I enjoyed growing up under her care. Jessie and I got away with almost anything. I kept 3 cats and a dog for two months before dad came home from his business trip and blew a gasket. Mother dearest hadn't even noticed. Dad was the bread earner of the family. We never saw him. even when he worked in the same city he hardly came home. But that was rare, most of the time he would be in a different continent. I wasn't even sure of what he did. When he did spend time with us, it was a lot of fun. The only time we would all sit together really.

"Where is Jessie?"

I stared at my mother shocked she had noticed his absence. Two things she remembered today, me and Jessie. She was on a roll.

She cleared her throat and I snapped out of my reverie "Oh, well I think he went to um walk the dog" I smiled at her "you told him to remember?"

"I did? Oh of course I did." She smiled at me dreamily "did you have dinner sweetie?"

Without waiting for a reply she went upstairs to her room. I returned to my book sighing. We didn't even have a dog anymore.

RING… RING…

I shrieked waking up to a stupid muggle contraption that wasn't even mine. With blurry eyes I somehow found the phone and pressed the green button "What?"

"Umm…is this Jessie's sister?"

I blinked at looked outside. It was dark, some idiot had woken me up in the middle of the night to ask me whether I was related to my brother in the middle of the night. Needless to say I was not pleased.

"What if I am?" I snarled "do you even know what time it is?"

The boy on the other end started spluttering "you don't get it, it's Jessie. He…he needs help. He told me to, to call, he said you would…-"

I spun my head to look at Jessie's bed. Empty. I jumped up "where is he?"

The boy rattled off the address. A beach club. I slammed the phone down and ran down, pulling my wand off the counter at the last minute. I wasn't an idiot. I knew enough of my brother to know he might need more than normal assistance. Jessie never asked for help. Ever.

I reached the club in 5 minutes. My father would not be pleased when he saw his new muggle car when he came back. I wasn't known for my safe driving. I pulled to the corner of the club and jumped out. I looked around, till I saw a familiar brown head. I weaved through the throngs of people till I reached him. "Jessie?"

He turned eyes wide "Holy…what are you doing?"

"What?" I wrinkled my eyes slightly "your friend called, he said you needed help"

"Umm well I'm fine so you should go now I guess, it's late" Jessie looked around frantically "you shouldn't be out so late"

I raised my eyebrow "so you're okay?"

"Yea obviously"

"Then who got my number?" I was getting pissed again. The fact that Jessie was still trying not to let anyone notice he was talking to me was acting like a catalyst.

"Listen I will find out, ok?" Jessie got up, slightly pushing me away "go home, I'll meet you there"

"I…-"

"Jessie darling!" as I watched a red head latched herself on to my brother's lips. my eyes widened as he pushed her away uncomfortably. He looked at me "this isn't…-"

"Shut up" my voice was low "I'm leaving". I was literally seeing red. I knew Jessie lived in a different world then I did, and I knew we were no longer attached at the hip. He had his own life and I mine. But that was no excuse. He had crossed the line. He was dating molly Weasley. Molly Weasley hated me. she made my life a miserable hell. Jessie hated her too. Or so I thought. He should. She was the bane of my it wasn't as though I was to be at blame. She started it. I was surprised she wasn't in Slytherin in fact. And now Jessie was dating her. Swell.

I woke up late the next morning. I hadn't want to see the poor excuse of my brother. He had come home a half hour after me and tried to talk to me but I feigned sleep so he finally dropped it.

I went to my kitchen slowly. "hey sis"

"You're home" I raised an eyebrow. Jessie was sitting eating at the table. Alone .He was never alone.

"Where are your band of baboons?." I went to the freezer.

"Don't call them that" Jessie snapped. I raised my eyebrow again leaning against the counter.

He sighed "I wanted to talk to you, you're up late today"

"How observant" I stuck a spoon in an ice-cream jar and began eating.

"Ice-cream? Are you upset?" Jessie made as to come to me."is this about the call last night? because that was just a prank call, my friends wanted to shock me"

I nodded and turned away "I wanted ice-cream, had a dream about it. Now is there anything you want or are you going to leave?"

"I'm not allowed to want to spend time with my sister?"

"You're allowed, you never do" I licked the spoon carefully.

"Oh c'mon sis, we hang out. I've just been a bit busy that's a…-"

"Shut up and go play with your girl friend will you?" I snarled putting the spoon in the sink

"I knew it! This is about her!" Jessie jumped up and came in front of me "listen I know you both don't always get along but she …-"

"Don't get along?" I hissed "she set me on fire and locked me in the school broom cupboard!"

"She wants to make amends, ok? And she is really sweet" Jessie looked at me pleadingly "if you got to know her maybe…" he trailed off looking at me.

"Do what you want Jessie" I turned from the sink "you like her, go ahead. Have fun. But don't expect me to suddenly become a social butterfly and hang out with those famous kids."

"They actually never asked…"Jessie rubbed the back of his neck uncomfortably "I mean…never mind"

"They don't want me near them" I guessed smirking at his reddening face. "Aw you thought I'd feel bad about that? I don't like them Jessie, I don't care"

I started walking away "and I guess you and I can't hang out while you're dating the devil so that's ok too"

I left.
...

The summer passed quickly after that. Jessie became busy hanging out with his new girlfriend and her huge family. They hardly came over and for that I was grateful. I sat in my room and read, mother attended a party almost every day and my father didn't even come home. When September first finally arrived I felt as though my vacation was just about to start.

I love school. I was a Ravenclaw and Jessie was a Gryffindor. It made it harder for us to contact each other during the school year but in the beginning he did make the effort. As the years went by we just started delving into different things. Jessie became a regular teenage wizard and I sat in the library or explored the castle. There was so much to know and so little time.

"Mother…Mother!"

I walked into the kitchen to see Jessie screaming into the phone trying to reach our mother. He slammed the phone down exasperated "I give up. Let her realize we went back on her own"

I nodded and picked up my jacket "I guess, though we'll probably be back by that time"

"Unless dad comes home" jess smiled.

"Um no he hates the weather in September. He won't come till November at least." I replied

"Hmmm point. Are you ready? Shall we go?"

I looked around and did a mental check of everything. I nodded and Jessie flicked his wand making our things feather light and grabbed them. I took his hand and we dissaparated. Something we both had started doing since we were 13. Dad hadn't had the patience to arrange a ride for us each time and we both learned it pretty quickly and till now neither of us had been caught by the authorities.

I looked around the station a small smile playing on my lips. I would be home in a few hours. The amount of people around was annoying but they couldn't be helped. I took my things and wandered off only vaguely aware of the few people nice enough to say hi to me. I entered the train and walked swiftly passed all the compartments till I reached the drivers area. I knocked three times sharply and grinned when I heard the soft "come in!"

"You're back!" the driver jumped up hugging me tightly.

"Ha-ha yea miss me?" I winked hugging her back. Yes her. Most people had no idea who the driver was or the fact that it was now driven by a girl. Her name was Lelaine Termuckel a young witch of about 30 years/ she had taken over from her grandfather just eight years back. I had met her on my first ride and sat with her ever since. She liked the company. Other than the trolley witch no one disturbed us. And the trolley witch was nice. I no longer had to pay for any candy. She loved feeding me.

I settled back into the cushiony chair waiting for the train to start. After my third year fiasco where I tried starting the train ten minutes early Lelaine no longer let me near the controls. Never mind the fact I was now much older and an adult. She still had no faith in me whatsoever.

"So doll how was summer? Any gossip?" Lelaine smiled

I laughed "oh yeah! Loads, I went out every day with a million people to a million parties and I hooked up with a different guy every week!'

Lelaine threw her blond head back laughing "so basically the usual then?"

"Yup"

Shaking her head, she started the engines smoothly "Ever thought about joining the rambunctious laughter out there girl?"

"Nope" I popped the p "I don't like them and they don't like me. I like you and you like me, why mess with the order?"

"I'm only messing with what you have already messed with" Lelaine laughed "The reason no one knows the train driver is because kids are supposed to be with other kids!"

"I'm legally an adult" I reminded her

"You know what I mean"

I did. And Lelaine was right in her own way but I just couldn't see it that way. I was content with the way I led my life and I was happy completing my Hogwarts education the same way. But trolls want to be super models and that never happens. Neither would my wish. I had no idea what type of Hogwarts was waiting for me when the train reached. Seventh year was going to be interesting to the say the least. I just didn't know it yet.
