I am Seriyus Kururugi. And I have lost almost everything. On the day August 10, 2010 The Britannian empire invaded Japan. I have been in the military for two years at that point. Thanks to the fact of me being the first son of the prime minister and my talent in warfare I acceded to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
During the invasion many of our officers were killed. Thanks to that I found myself in command more times then I should. I tried my best. Even defeated the britannians a few times. Unfortunately, in the end we lost. My father, Genbu Kururugi, killed himself in an act of protest against defending ourselves to the last. I never really liked the man, as absorbed in leading the country as he was he never had any time for me or my little brother Suzaku.
Despite my dislike for him, I was thankful. Thanks to him we managed to avoid a massacre. We managed to keep what was left of our army. If my father didn't sacrifice himself we would have no chance to regain our land. The remaining soldiers were pouring in from all sides, desperate for a leader. They hoped for me to lead them to victory once again.
Why me? Well, thanks to me being one of two officers to gain a victory against the invaders I was rapidly promoted. In the end I was the highest ranking officer of what remained. The reunion with Kyoshiro Tohdoh, my old sensei and the second to win a battle against Britannia helped my legitimation too.
The Britannians broke our spear, shattered our armor and killed our horse. For the time being we will have to fight with our sword and shield while fixing our previous might. We created the Japan Liberation Front. For seven long years we fought with our weakest weapons, making the colonials think we were broken. In the shadows, with the help of the Kyoto House we built our strength.
We might not be able to cast britannia out, yet, but soon...soon we shall remind them the Fury of the Japanese.
I sat in my office overlooking the map of Japan. On this map I had inscribed information and locations of every Japanese resistance cell not directly under my command. All of them were comprised of civilians since all remnants of the old Japanese army came at some point under my control.
During the invasion we were beaten by superior numbers and the knightmare frames. The former wasn't a big deal, japan won against worse odds in the past. The latter, however, was a problem. In the past, that is. Now thanks to the help of the kyoto House we are armed in kmfs of our own. Granted, they are inferior to the ones our enemy possess, but its still something.
A knock at my office door stopped my musings. "Enter." with my promition in walked a woman in a similar green military uniform to mine.
This woman here was Nagisa Chiba, vice commander of my personal guard. We met before the war. At the time we were both recruits for the officer core. Before and during the war she filled a spot at my right hand, she was a bodyguard, of sorts. She still is. I cannot count the amount of times her presence saved my life.
With a bow she spoke the message she had came to give. "Commander, something important came up, General Tohdoh asks for your presence." Ah, I see.
"Any details?" I asked, sipping my long cold tea.
"None I was told about, sir." With a nod I pulled on my uniform Cape and walked out of my office.
"Walk with me, Colonel." She fell in step a little behind me on my right shoulder to show that I am of a superior rank. As we walked through the underground fortres of Narita mountains all soldiers saluted us as we passed them.
When we entered all inside the room stood and saluted me. Seems like all the flag officers were here.
There were the rest of my personal guard. It comprised of Shōgo Asahina, Ryōga Senba and Kōsetsu Urabe. All of them veteran officers and pilots.
There was the miracle worker himself, Kyoshiro Tohdoh. The second in command of the JLF.
The last one in the room was Josui Kusakabe. The only other remaining flag officer from the invasion. He was under my command during some of my battles. He may be very radical, but he respects me to much to cause any trouble.
"What is it, Tohdoh?" I inquired straight up. There is no need to waste time on flowery speach.
With a shallow bow he gave an answer. "A skirmish took place between the Britannians and a group of resistance fighters."
"And...what of it, it is quite common. Why did you call me for such a thing." He looked uncomfortable.
"You see, sir...the Britannians lost."
"... What... How?" one could hear a pin drop in the room.
"That's not all, our spies say that... Prince Clovis was... Killed in action." I stared at him. I heard him but my brain couldn't comprehend what he was saying.
"... Who...?" The rest of my flag officers was shocked too.
"We... Do not know... Not even the Britannians know..." I finally remember myself. With an inhale and exhale I righted myself.
This... This is an opportunity. Now that the chain of command was broken we could steal some supplies. Fuel, ammunition, replaceable parts, hell even some Knightmares. We have a small window of opportunity to enrich ourselves. If we are lucky we might even get some of these new Gloucesters. With a few quick strikes on Britannian magazines we might shorten the time we would need to prepere for a full scale uprising.
"Did anybody take credit?" I snap my head to Tohdoh.
"No, but our spies confirm that the Kozuki resistance cell took part." I remember that name.
"Kozuki you say,... As in Naoto Kozuki? I thought he was killed recently." I point an inquiry at him.
With a nod he answers. "He was, the cell is being run by his childhood friend Kaname Ohgi and his little sister Kallen Kozuki."
I see. Well, whatever, prepere a few strike teams. In the amok, attack Britannian's magazines and take everething you find. Kill all you find and after taking what we need, burn the magazines and everything around them to ash." With a nod he left to do just that. All but Nagisa went with him.
Well, seems lady luck is on our side today. I pray this good streak well continue in the future.
An:This is a rewrite of my first story. Tell me what you think.
