Chapter Eight: Cut Strings
~A/N~ Here we got Chapter Eight Begins. I hope you enjoy it.
Chapter Start!
~Precourse Classroom~
"Today we have a special test we want to conduct," Kugo said looking to his students. "Aizawa will be here in a few minutes. We are going to see what happens to your quirks when they are canceled while being used,"
"All of ours?" Ochaco asked.
"Yes. Uraraka-san there is a chance that whatever you float before your quirk is canceled might remain floating. I personally believe that they won't but it's a good test. Monoma-san we want to see if your quirk is canceled if it removes the quirk you copied or if you can still use it afterward. Shinso-san we wish to see if canceling your quirk breaks the hold or just stops you from being able to use it. Also to see if canceling the quirk of a person under your hold could break your hold,"
"What about Midoriya-san?" Neito asked.
"The main point of my quirk is healing. I don't think anyone wants to purposely get hurt just to see if my healing is cancelable," Izuku countered. "I am willing to be the one put under for Shinso-san's quirk,"
"Very well once-" Kugo started as the door opened. "Ah right on time," Shota nodded as he walked into the classroom.
"Sorry had a phone call," Shota said scratching his cheek.
"No worries I was just explaining the plan," Kugo replied.
"Right. So who's first?" Shota asked.
"I'll go first," Ochaco smiled. The teachers both nodded and Ochaco stood. With a quick touch to her desk, her quirk activated. The desk slowly started to float. Shota let it float for a few seconds before his eyes flashed and his hair rose. The desk dropped instantly and Ochaco shivered.
"Wow..." Ochaco said slightly confused.
"What?" Shota asked his eyes going back to normal.
"I lost feeling in the tips of my fingers for a few seconds," Ochaco replied looking to the pads on her fingers.
"Hmm, interesting. Canceling your quirk must affect the pads on your fingers," Kugo said writing down a note.
"We'll come back to that. Next," Shota said.
"I'll go," Neito said looking to Ochaco. "If I may?"
"Oh sure," Ochaco offered her hand letting Neito copy her quirk. Just as Ochaco had Neito touched his desk letting it float slightly. Just as he had with Ochaco Shota let the desk float for a few seconds before canceling Neito. As before the desk dropped.
"Still have it," Neito said making the desk float again after Shota stopped his quirk.
"Good to know you keep them still," Kugo said.
"My turn then," Hitoshi said.
"This will be new," Izuku said with a smile not having been under Hitoshi's quirk before.
"Go ahead," Kugo spoke.
"What's your name?" Hitoshi asked.
"Midoriya Izuku," Izuku replied. Hitoshi's quirk took hold quickly. It was interesting, to say the least. Everything went hazy. Like he was looking through a foggy window. Shota sighed as he activated his quirk. He first looked to Izuku.
The moment Shota's quirk hit Izuku hell broke loose. Izuku hit the ground like someone cut his strings. Shota and Kugo both launched forward seeing the boy fall. "What the hell?" Shota said as they reached the boy.
"Call Recovery Girl! Get the defibrillator," Kugo commanded looking to his students. To their credit, they moved without hesitation. Ochaco ran to the phone while Hitoshi all but flew to the back of the room to grab the defibrillator.
"He's not breathing," Shota said shoving a desk away. Neito moved now grabbing the other desk and moving it so they were clear to help Izuku.
"Recovery Girl," Ochaco nearly screamed into the phone. "Midoriya collapsed in class. We need you here," A moment later Ochaco hung up the phone. "She's coming,"
"WE ARE HERE!" All Might's voice echoed out as the door was thrown open as he brought Recovery Girl in.
"What happened?" She asked moving to Izuku's side.
"We were testing Quirk Canceling. I looked at Midoriya and he dropped," Shota replied stepping back to let Recovery Girl in.
"His heart stopped," Recovery Girl confirmed while Kugo turned on the defibrillator ready to shock.
"Start low," Recovery Girl said.
"I've never seen someone react like that," Shota said trying to figure out how it had happened. "Shinso,"
"Yes, Sensei?" Hitoshi stepped up.
"Did you notice anything strange when you used your quirk on Midoriya-san?" Shota asked.
"Actually I did. I couldn't hold him. The few seconds I had him I was struggling to hold on. Like something in him was forcing me out," Hitoshi explained.
"We got a pulse back," Kugo said with a relieved sigh.
"We should get him to the clinic," Recovery Girl said.
"I have a theory of what happened. I will speak with Midoriya once he wakes," Nezu's voice spoke over the Intercom.
~Unknown Location~
Izuku's eyes snapped open. He quickly jumped to his feet once he noticed he didn't know where he was. "Where am I?" Izuku asked out loud. He wasn't sure but it felt oddly familiar. From the golden walls to the blue spectral floors. "I've been here before,"
"Little brother," A strangely familiar feminine voice spoke. "You look pensive are you alright?"
"I-" Izuku started to say as he turned.
"I'm lost sister," Izuku heard his own voice. His jaw nearly dropped as he finally turned. Standing a few feet away from him was himself. Same in every aspect save for clothes. This version of himself was dressed in white almost robe-like clothes. This Izuku looked as lost as he had been the day on the roof.
"Are you still struggling? I thought you had overcome this," Izuku looked to the woman who spoke. She was like him but so much more. She had four great blue wings that matched her blue hair. Her eyes shined golden matching the immaculate armor she was clad in.
"I thought I had... But I miss my home," the other Izuku said looking down.
"Little brother," the four-winged woman spoke. "You've been chosen to be a part of something far greater than a mortal life,"
"But Sigrun I'm not a Tennin. I've been here for decades longer than others who've been ascended and yet I remain," Other Izuku retorted.
"Decades?" Izuku said looking at the two before him. "I don't understand,"
"It took me centuries to ascend," Sigrun replied. "You will ascend one day,"
"Young one," the three all turned to see a massive golden armored man walking up.
"Great one," the two bowed. As they did the world around Izuku started to fade. The golden walls washed away. Sigrun, the Great One, and the other Izuku all vanished.
~A Certain Bar~
"So you're really going to be a hero?" Setsuna looked up from her pile of books.
"Sensei needs me to get my hands on that healer," Setsuna replied. "And since you can't stand to even be around heroes. It's up to me," She added.
"Fair point. I don't think I could handle being around all of them," Shiggaraki replied taking a seat next to Setsuna. "Just don't lose yourself in that place,"
"I will never betray Sensei," Setsuna replied coldly.
"Good, You are his successor alongside myself after all. We can't lose you," Shiggaraki said placing a drink down for Setsuna.
"Just go back to your games. I have to study," Setsuna said glaring at Shiggaraki.
"Fair," Shiggaraki replied walking away.
~U.A~
Izuku groaned as he slowly felt himself waking up. Everything just hurt. 'Oh back in U.A.' Izuku thought as he saw that he was in the recovery wing.
"Midoirya, How are you feeling?" Izuku turned towards Recovery Girl.
"Everything hurts but I'm alive," Izuku replied.
"That's good. You did in fact die for a minute or two before we got you back. We've learned we can't let Aizawa use his quirk on you," Recovery Girl explained.
"Well that's terrifying," Izuku replied.
"Quiet. That said you were talking in your sleep. Who's Sigrun?" Recovery Girl asked.
"I had a dream... vision... memory... I don't know but I was in this weird golden temple place. I could see myself talking with a woman. I called her Sigrun. She had four huge blue wings and blue hair," Izuku tried to explain.
"Might have to have you sit down with Hound Dog and talk it over," Recovery Girl replied.
"I guess," Izuku replied tiredly. "But I think I'll lay back down for a bit now,"
"Rest all you need," Recovery Girl replied going back to her paperwork.
~Midoriya Household~
Inko felt ridiculous. She was a grown woman and yet she couldn't bring herself to hit the send button on her text. One button push and she couldn't do it. Why was it so hard? Right because she was asking a pro hero out on a date. It didn't help that said pro hero was more than ten years younger than her and in great shape. Where Inko wasn't. "Am I really worth it?" She said quietly to herself.
She didn't get to sink into her hole any further as her phone buzzed. Inko nearly screamed when she saw it was the very person she was trying to bring herself to text. After nearly dropping her phone twice she finally managed to open the message.
"I'm not one to wait for someone else to make the leap. We talked once for five minutes. I gave you my number cus I think you're super cute. So... date?" M.
Inko replied the second she finished reading the message. A quick 'yes' and it was sealed. Inko had a date. "Oh god, I have a date,"
~End Notes~ I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I also hope I left you with lots of questions. Til next time.
