Chapter Nine: Dreams and Dates
~A/N~ Here's chapter nine. I hope you like it.
Chapter Start!
~Random Backalley~
Izuku couldn't feel a thing and yet everything screamed in pain. The fall hadn't killed him as it should have. A straight drop from several stories up and yet he held on. Now he had to die slowly. He had to die regretting his decision and how badly it would hurt his mother to learn of.
His eyes weakly stared into the sky. Something felt off about it. Even in his state, he knew something was weird. There was a strange ethereal blue light where the sun should've been. It didn't hurt his eyes to stare at it. Not that he could tell at the moment.
"It's not yet your time," a voice spoke out. Izuku watched as a figure appeared in the light. The first thing he registered was four great blue wings. Then the golden armor. Lastly a strange feeling of peace.
"You will rise. To the Halls of Light," the angelic woman spoke as she placed a hand on Izuku's shattered form. The sense of peace overtook him even more and his eyes gently closed.
~Unknown Location~
His sense of hearing returned first. He expected to hear the sounds on heart monitors and respirators. Yet he heard nothing of the like. Almost the opposite in fact. It sounded like there was combat happening somewhere in the distance. Not a hero fight. No ancient combat the sounds of clashing metal and heaving blows.
His eyes finally came back and fluttered open. He wasn't in a hospital room. He appeared to be in some sort of gilded chamber. Ornate statues of angelic women decorated all the walls. Surrounding him were four pedestals each glowing with the same ethereal light he had seen in the sky. Each light was different in color. One White, One Red, One Green, and One Black.
Finally, his strength returned. He was able to push himself up. To his shock and surprise, nothing hurt. He felt fine. As if he hadn't fallen and shattered much of his body.
"You took to our healing better than any before," a soft voice spoke. Izuku's attention snapped to the form. It was a tall woman with four bright red wings and fiery red hair.
"I..." Izuku tried to speak but couldn't think of where to start.
"I know what you will ask. And I will explain. But first, drink this," the red-winged woman said handing Izuku an ornate bowl filled nearly to the brim with dark swirling water.
Izuku paused staring into the weird water for several long moments. "It's safe," the woman said holding up a matching bowl that she drank. Izuku nodded and brought the water to his lips.
It tasted like heaven. Izuku almost cried as he quickly drank the water down. It tasted better than any drink he had even had before. The moment the last drop was finished Izuku almost gasped in shock. He couldn't remember the taste of the water he had just drunk. As if he never touched it.
"Worry not. The waters aren't meant to be remembered. They are for healing," The red woman said now sitting in a chair just as ornate as the rest of the room. "Now then What would you like to know first?"
"Where?" Izuku asked.
"Where is subjective. It's been called by many names over the eons it's been here. The Celestial Sky, The Holy Lands, Valhalla, Jannah, The Kingdom of Heaven, Tian, Samsara Nirvana, and dozens of other names," the red woman explained. "But we've always just called it 'The Final Home'. Next?" {1}
"Who?" Izuku started.
"I am Sabriel one of the Ascended, Devoted to the Passions of Healing," Sabriel replied.
"Ascended?" Izuku asked. Sabriel smiled and motioned to her wings.
"We of the Ascended oversee efforts of the Risen and train them in our Passions," Sabriel answered.
"Passions?" Izuku asked seemingly becoming more confused.
"Passions are our arts. And they are as countless as the stars. Healing, Waring, Reading, Writing, Hunting, Painting, Music. If you had a Passion in life it can become your Passion in our Final Home," Sabriel answered.
"How did you fix me?" Izuku asked.
"With my Passion. My Passion is of Healing. Tending to the hurt and wounded. Closing cuts, Mending bones, Erasing pains. I can do a great many things. Your damage while extreme was well within my abilities to fix.
"Who grabbed me. I remember a blue light and wings," Izuku said.
"That would be Sigrun. Hers is the Passion of Life. She overlooks and dips down and grabs the souls of the worthy," Sabriel replied.
"Ah you're awake," A sweet voice spoke out.
"Nakir how can I be of Service?" Sabriel asked right as everything faded.
~Unknown Location~
Setsuna walked quietly through the halls of her home for the last time. Her cover was finished and she had to move into a fake home to protect said cover. It would be a few months but she could handle it.
"It will be odd not having you here," Tomura said scratching his neck. Setsuna smiled sadly and stopped him.
"I'll miss you too," Setsuna returned knowing what he was getting at.
"Just remember if they start to catch on-" Tomura started.
"Pull the plug and get out. I know Sensei's pretty insistent I don't get caught," Setsuna replied.
"Tokage-san," Kurogiri appeared. "It's time to go," Another portal opened.
"Right," Setsuna looked at the portal for a moment. "Wish me luck,"
"Your luck stat is fine," Tomura replied as the girl disappeared into the portal.
~Inko~
Inko was nervous. 'I can't believe I'm actually going on a date again,' She thought as she smoothed out her skirt for what felt like the millionth time. Checking her watch for an equal millionth time Inko sighed. She was still really early. Would that make her look desperate if she'd been waiting for over twenty minutes?
'What if this is all a stupid joke?' Inko's mind betrayed her. Her anxiety welled up inside her. What could she offer a hero? She wasn't strong or rich. Inko was brought out of her downward spiral at the sound of a voice.
"Midoriya-san," Inko's attention shot up to the owner of the voice.
One Sosaki Shino better known as Mandalay. The woman she had run into for all of five minutes back when Izuku first started the Precourse.
"Sosaki-san," Inko smiled seeing the younger woman. "You're early," She added.
"Says the woman with a half-finished drink," Shino replied taking her seat.
"Caught me," Inko blushed.
"Guessing you're pretty nervous?" Shino asked.
"It's the first date I've been on in a very long time," Inko replied.
"You and me both," Shino laughed sitting down. The two quickly found themselves lost in conversation. Enjoying each other's company far more than either of them had expected. Hours would float by seemingly in the blink of an eye. And still, they kept talking.
~Izuku~
Izuku snapped awake. Another strange dream. But he was remembering what he was dreaming now. The Final Home, heavenly beings, and Passions. There was so much to unpack from these dreams. Where did he even start? His eyes moved to his clock. Just past ten.
"These... whatever they are keep getting stranger," Izuku groaned as he pushed himself up and started doing his morning stretches. His mind still trying to wrap around what he was seeing in his dreams.
~End Notes~ I hope you liked the chapter.
{1} Basically tried to explain that it's Heaven of all the religions and depending on your belief/faith it shifted its appearance for your home. Each person has their own which would tie itself to other 'Homes' of the people you knew and loved in life.
