Sorry for the lack of updating. This last week I ended up catching the summer bug and felt very unmotivated to write. Now I'm slightly better but still feel a bit under the weather. I love the reviews I'm getting from all of you and hope to see more as i like to read as they show up.
So this chapter is not going to be top notch as the previous chapters so bare with me here. Also going to be slightly off script with extra stuff from the Star Wars universe popping in with Luz wanting to get involved. But that is for later and this is now enjoy.
Episode Three: Down with School
Luz looked down and stared hesitantly at the Holocron in her hand.
For the last few days being on the Boiling Isles, Luz had not taken it out after hearing Master Kenobi's message. There was a great mystery behind this cube of synthetic crystal. How did it get here, and who did this belong to? What knowledge is stored inside?
The temptation was great, but Luz set it aside and released a sigh. "Why is this so hard? It's no different from other Holocrons you've opened. Why's this one so different?"
It was then King walked in. "Hey, Luz. We're going to the beach. Something there Eda wants to show you."
"Thanks, King, I'll be down in a minute," Luz said.
King leaves, and Luz gets up from her sleeping bag and stretches out her stiff muscles. She did her morning meditation sessions to cool her thoughts and emotions. Since her first battle, she's been spending less and less time meditating and more focused on life. She would gladly admit that meditation was one of her least favorite things to do. She does a session every once in a while to help calm herself when she feels frustrated.
It wasn't the only change in her life.
Luz looked down at her current outfit then at the neatly folded Jedi robes sitting on a crate. Eda had given Luz a few sets of clothes that were a mixed bag of clothing worn on the Isles and the world Eda gets most of her "merchandise" from.
Luz had on a sleeveless yellow vest that came with a hood that went over a white t-shirt. She had on a brown leather belt to go with the tan cargo style pants with a set of black boots that had zippers on the sides. It also had an acronym of SWAT under her feet. The Jedi didn't know what that meant but found the boots to be relatively comfortable. It felt strange wearing something different than her Jedi robes or her combat armor variant of them. It was all she ever remembered wearing. To have something else on her felt weird and oddly freeing.
She pushed the thoughts away and got her things ready for whatever Eda wanted to show her. Which includes her lightsaber clipping to her belt and shoving the primitive PDA that Eda thought was junk into her pocket. Took the better part of two days to work with it but found it quite sophisticated and effortless. The Jedi wasn't expecting it to hold multiple functions such as a Com. unit, camera, notepad, and much more. There even were audio logs the previous owner left that contained music. The Padawan didn't know who this "Johnny Cash '' is, but by the Force, she could listen to him all day!
Luz then glances at her other things, such as the backpack containing the blaster and Master Unduli's lightsaber. She wasn't very good with the blaster, and using another Jedi's lightsaber felt wrong. Instead of taking them, she leaves them in her bag and heads out.
Walking through the front, she saw Eda and King waiting for her. "Hey, guys. You wanted to show me something, Eda?"
"Yep," Eda replied before setting her staff up to fly on. "Climb aboard, kid. We're wasting daylight."
The group left the house and flew for a few minutes. It provided a nice few of the Isle's coast and surf for the trio, which was largely ignored by two of the three but brought a calming feeling to the third. They reached a beach end and saw something huge and very disgusting on the shore.
The three land and gape at the site. "Well, kid... did you ever in your life think you'd see something as breathtaking as this?"
"What...is that?" Luz asked as she pointed at the giant slug-like creature lying on the beach. Which was very much dead.
"That, my sword swinging student, is the trash slug," Eda answered as she got close and placed a hand on its side. Then pulls out a rubber chicken and tosses it behind her. "A vastly misunderstood creature. It makes a home, a life from what others have thrown by the wayside. Eating the refuge that others have cast aside."
"Until BLAM!" she said while smashing her fist into her open hand. "It gets blasted by a wave one day and croaks from all the salt. And then we get to sell the stuff it ate."
Eda pulled out a pickaxe and held it out to Luz.
She hands Luz a pickaxe which she responds in horror.
"Eda, this practically goes against a lot of what I was taught growing up," Luz said as he pushed the pickaxe back to Eda.
"Aw, come on, Luz. It's not every day you get to go to the dump and pick apart a garbage carcass." King said as he walked to sit on the sand. "And it's dead. Someone probably would do worse than us on this guy."
"Ah, nuts to you all." Eda then swings her pickaxe at the carcass, causing it to slice open and dump a lot of junk open. "It's not like they covered this when I was in school." She said before swinging again.
"Wait a sec. There's a Magic school here? Like a place that actually teaches anyone how to do magic?" Luz said before Eda smashed the pickaxe into the slug's eye, making a glass breaking sound. "Could you not do that?"
"Yep," Eda confirmed as she shifted through the garbage. "What's worse, they force you to learn magic the "proper" way. The real magic isn't proper, it's wild and unpredictable. That's why it's so beautiful. I didn't finish school, and look at me! Who wouldn't envy where I am right now?" Eda stood up with a proud look with her pickaxe on her shoulder, standing among the garbage.
Luz gave the Witch a deadpan stare. "Becoming an outsider to society. Selling junk as a street side vendor. AND ripping and tearing apart animal corpses to sell what they had for their last meal? Yeah, you're a model inspiration."
"Ouch… laying it thick with the sass today, aren't you?" Eda looked around in hopes that she could make a quick lesson to distract the teen. "Come here for a second."
Luz followed Eda, and she kneeled before a green puddle of slime.
"As I'm sure you're aware of this, given your past. In a life or death situation, you can use your surroundings to your advantage or use what you have on hand to pull out a win. Even if it's from somewhere unexpected, like from this pile of goo." She stuffs her hand inside and feels around before grabbing onto the first solid thing she feels pulling it out. "The strangest of things will make the biggest difference at the most important times."
Eda showed her hand to Luz and presented a small ball or seed covered in slime. "A greasy slimeball?" Luz said questionably.
"A good witch is resourceful, Luz. Use your slime ball wisely, young Witch," Eda said in a sagely voice.
"This can help me at an unexpected time in my life?" Luz said with much skepticism.
"Life is random, Luz. You never know what is going to come up next." Eda said before going back to looting trash out the beach slug.
"I think I'm goanna pass on this one," Luz said as she put the little ball in her cargo pocket. "I don't feel comfortable slicing open a monster's corpse, so I'm goanna head back to the house. Maybe work on my lightsaber forms for a bit. Don't want to get rusty," Luz said to her before walking away, leaving Eda to deal with the trash slug with King watching from his laid-out beach towel.
As she walked back to the Owl House, Luz took out the slime ball and examined it between her fingertips. It looked like a plant seed, but to what, she didn't know. Not like she was ever part of the Agricultural Corp with the Padawan Washouts.
"I know Eda wasn't wrong in using your environment to your advantage. I've done stuff like that when leading the clones, but I'm not seeing how this could help me."
She then wondered more about this "Magic" school Eda spoke of. In practice, magic in concept was still a foreign concept to the young Jedi. Having been taught that magic is an illusion or idea that others give when seeing someone handle the Force for the first time. Luz's Masters would have found a school dedicated to this practice of craft humorous or concerned about them being teachings of the Dark side. Since coming here, Luz didn't know what to believe.
"Maybe I should look into it. A Magic school would be something to look up. It might not be 'wild,' but could give me context into how things work in this world," she said to herself. The more she thought about it, the more of a good idea it seemed. "Yeah, why not. With the order gone, who's going to stop me? Not like Master Windu is going to come out of nowhere and give out that disapproving look he has all the time."
"You can do it! You can!" A voice said from afar.
"What? "I got this?" Is someone trying to motivate themselves?" Luz said and walked in the direction of the voice. Pushing a few tree branches aside and through some shrubbery, she sees a girl no older than herself sitting on a rock and wooden cart with a cauldron inside it.
Anyone would have mistaken the girl for a human if they didn't see her pointed ears. Her skin was slightly pale, making her short dark blue hair stand out as it was tucked behind the ears. Her clothes looked like a uniform, consisting of a gray tunic with pinkish sleeves and leggings, a dark gray belt, and black boots similar to a Jedi's footwear.
"A witch student?" Luz said in surprise and interest.
The girl must have tried to encourage herself to do something as she got up and started pacing while muttering to herself. It was actually a comforting familiarity to Luz as she's seen several Padawan's act the same way back at the Temple when faced with a slight dilemma. Luz wasn't ashamed to admit she'd done the same in the past.
This Witch girl's dilemma suddenly stopped when she stomped on a flower by accident. "Oh, no! Oh, little friend! I'm sorry!"
The witch girl kneels, raises her finger, and draws a glowing green circle above the crushed flower. The bright ring emitted small green light orbs, and the crushed flower is restored to normal.
Luz gasps at what she saw. The circle, the girl, did was a spell, just like she had seen Eda perform. The magic of the Isles was extraordinary. It reminded her of the one time she visited the Jedi Agriculture Corp on Telos IV. How the Jedi there use the Force to increase the growth of crop fields.
"No... not like them, this was Magic," Luz said with interest.
Her attention was then drawn away to the sound of a creaking wheel. A moment later, the sound came from another cart with a cauldron rolling up next to the girl. On top sat another girl wearing the same outfit while reading a book. The new girl was pale skin, with two-toned chin-length hair that had the front bangs pulled back to a ponytail. This girl was reading her book until she turned her head towards the other girl.
"Now, who's this?" Luz questions.
"Willow! Wow. You're so unnoticeable I almost rolled into ya," the green-haired girl greeted/insulted.
The girl with blue hair flinched. "Hi, Amity."
"Uh, shouldn't you get to class early to prepare..." The pot that belonged to Willow begins rattling and falls over, spilling out a purple substance. The substance starts groaning and gasping.
This got an adverse reaction out of Luz. "What in the Force..."
Willow then lowers her head in embarrassment. "Oh, Willow. You don't have anything to show, do you?" Amity said, half sympathetic/mocked to Willow.
Despite the nature of...whatever that is, Luz narrowed her eyes at this Amity. Her attitude was something to be desired for her poor personality. "Man, it's like that holo drama I sometimes watch with the clones."
'Who knew clones could cry at such mushy stuff. Made good blackmail material on Commander Gree,' Luz thought randomly before returning to the witch drama in front of her. Just in time to see Willow pulling her hood in an attempt to hide embarrassment.
"This is why people call you 'Half‐a‐Witch Willow.'" Amity says with a sigh. The cover on Amity's caldron started to move and rattle. "Oh, it looks like someone wants to say something to you." Amity removed the lid, a smug smirk on her face.
"Abomination-" Amity snaps her finger "-rise."
A monster pile of purple substance appears from the pot, takes the shape of a humanoid being, and stares at Willow with its lifeless green eyes.
Her senses flared darkly as Luz had grabbed her lightsaber and nearly charged at this… mockery of life. It was ugly in every sense of the word. But Luz stayed her hand as she didn't want to appear threatening to the girls.
The Abomination pointed its finger to Willow as it moved it closer to the glasses-wearing girl.
"You're a... star." It croaked as it drew a small smudge in the shape of a star on Willow's forehead.
"Aw. It's like mine." Amity points to a gold star-shaped badge on her uniform. "But much smaller and meaningless. As a Top Student, it's my duty to tell you to keep at it. Even you could even get a passing grade someday." She then looks back at the goo monster.
"Abomination, cower." The Abomination groans, and it returns to the pot, and Amity closes it with the cover. She then takes her cart and leaves. "See you in class, Superstar!"
"What. A. Jerk," Luz said from her spot. Amity reminded her of some of the more prideful Padawan's from the Jedi Temple that often bully those that failed the trials. Thinking they were better because they could do specific force techniques or master more than one lightsaber form.
Turning back to Willow, Luz saw she looked angry, very angry, and upset as she wiped the goop off her forehead.
""Oh, see you in class, superstar!" I hate when she does that. I hate making abominations. I hate getting bad grades. Ugh! I can't stand this anymore." Her eyes glowed green, and the ground around her began to shake. "RrrrAAA!"
Even if Luz wasn't Force-sensitive, she could feel it in the air! "Holy Kriff!"
The plant life around Willow erupted as large briar vines swung wildly out the ground and swung around the area wildly. Their reach extends to the point Luz had to back away, or she would get ensnare one.
She ends up being too slow as one vine grabs her by the leg and lifts her up off the ground.
"AHH!" Luz screamed as she felt the barbed vines penetrate her clothes and into her skin. The Jedi was brought forth to Willow before being dropped in front of her in an unfashionable manner. Luz saw Willow turn towards her and look sharply down at her with menacing green-glowing eyes.
Luz struggled to get away and flinched from the pain from trying to rip the vines off. Though Willow seemed to snap out of her anger and replied with concern after she saw Luz flinch.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no!" Willow runs toward Luz and releases her from the vine's thorny grasp. "I'm so sorry!"
Luz bit back a hiss as she felt the thorns pull out of her. "Remind me not to get you angry."
She then noticed how Willow got a little close into her personal space, looking intently at her.
"So... circle-y," Willow comments as she looks at Luz's ear.
"Oh!" Luz attempted to hide with her hoodie but was too late as Willow recognized them and gasped.
"You're human! This is astounding!" The girl said, surprising Luz with her happy attitude. "What are you doing here? How did you get here?" She questions rapidly.
"Ummm..." A loud bell rang echoed in the air, and Willow lost her smile.
"Hey, you okay?" Luz asked Willow in a concerning tone.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I can't stay. I have to disappoint my teacher. It was nice to meet you, human," she said as she waved goodbye to Luz.
"Teacher? Wait, you go to school? As in magic school?" Luz asked quickly, feeling very interested in the idea again. Willow looked at the human with a suspicious glance.
"Yes? I go to Hexside. It's a magic school," she answered.
"Can I come with you to see it?"
Willow's shoulders shrugged. "I don't see why not... Sorry I didn't get your name?"
"Oh, I'm Luz. Luz Noceda." She held a hand up.
"Hello, Luz, I'm Willow, Willow Park." Willow shook the Jedi's hand before the two went off to school.
Luz felt a little excited and followed beside Willow as she pushed her cart. Along the way, Willow explained her project and what she did to those plants.
"Okay, between those two, I think you would obviously be better off in the Plant magic department rather than the monster-making class."
Willow sighed as she was in complete agreement. "I know, but it's what my dad's wanted me to succeed in life, so they put me in the Abomination track. I'm not allowed to do Plant magic," she explained.
Luz frowned at this. "That's dumb. Obviously, you're having problems with this track and getting bullied in it. Maybe you should talk with them about what's been going on and how you feel about it. Otherwise, what you feel now would get worse later on," she explained.
"I just don't want them to worry about me..." Luz gave a comforting pat on Willow's back.
"You'll be hurting them and yourself in the long run," Luz said. Next, the two entered a clearing and saw a massive white brick structure. "Whoa."
It was built to imitate a large castle. Its white walls stretched out with towers standing up. It wasn't grand or mesmerizing, but it was an eye-catcher.
"Welcome to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics," Willow said.
"Not bad looking," Luz commented. 'Would I have ended up in a similar place if the Jedi hadn't found me?' She silently wondered.
"Now, how are we going to get you in?" Willow said as she rubbed her chin.
"Hmmm, is there a Headmaster or teacher I can speak with?" Luz inquiries.
"Well... we could get to the Principal's office and see Principal Bump? He could allow you to look around the school and ask any questions you have."
"Great! Let's go!" Luz said.
The duo made their way through the school front, passing many of the other students. Like the rest of the Isles, some were more physically unique than others. Luz tried sensing them with the Force, nearly causing feedback with how much she was feeling. When Willow asked if she was alright, the Jedi just waved her off that she was okay. They continued on till they reached the Principal's office.
Willow went up and knocked. "Principal Bump!"
An old-looking man with light beige skin and teal eyes with pale yellow sclera answered the door. He was wearing a demon-like hat covering up half of his face and a long black gown with a gold yoke with a black cape, gold trim at the sleeves, and cape hem plus a blue stole.
The Principal looked down to see the ones who knocked with a raised eyebrow. "Miss Park, your class starts in fifteen minutes, what can I do for you? And who is this young lady, as I do not recognize her as one of my students?"
Luz politely bowed to the man like she would do with a politician. "Greetings, Principal Bump. I'm Luz Noceda, and I'm new to the area. I've heard of your school and wanted to visit such a place of learning. With a chance of possible enrollment to further my education and understanding of this world." Her greetings took Willow by surprise and stroked Bump's ego.
"What a well-mannered child you are, Luz Noceda. It is always good to see a student in pursuit of knowledge." He turns his attention back to Willow. "You may go about your day, Miss Park."
"Okay, bye, Luz!" Willow waved.
"See you later, Willow," Luz waved back as the girl rolled her monster project away. Despite only knowing her for a few minutes, Luz felt something different about the plant girl that separated her from the other students. She mentally shakes her mind of this and focuses on the present. Luz turned back to the Principal. "Where to, sir?"
"Please, call me Principal Bump, and come into the office. I'd like to learn a bit more about you before we start any tour of the school."
Luz nodded. "Of course, Principal Bump." The two entered the office with the Principal sitting at his desk and the Jedi sitting across from him. "Well, Principal, what would you like to know?"
Meanwhile, at the Owl House, Eda was relaxing and watching King fail measurably in training a baby trash slug to be his minion. All he has been doing is feeding the thing and letting it grow bigger. Any commands King tried to input were met with silence. It was all going to blow up in King's face.
But despite the eventual hilarities in front of her, Eda couldn't get into it. The reasons for this were her portal key and the human that came with it. None of it made sense to her. Luz was clearly human but not from the mortal realm that Eda has been visiting for years. The portal she had is old, no doubt about that, but it begs the question of what's happening to it?
Taking the portal key from her hair, she could still see the flashing blue light over the yellow eye.
This concerned her for two reasons. The first was her junk trade on the weekends may be foiled due to this. No junk, no snails. The other was the danger Luz talked about. From what that girl told them, things on that side were happening that no girl should be concerned about. One moment she was fighting a war the next, she's public enemy number one.
"Some stuff just doesn't fit together," Eda mumbled.
"What are you mumbling about, Eda," King said. Before tossing another bunch of doggy treats into Prince jr's mouth. "Worry about me winning our bet?"
Eda snorted. "Yeah, right, like I have to worry about that. Naw, I was actually thinking about where Luz comes from and what she said. Also thought about what kind of stuff they have over there. We've seen Luz's light sword and what she can do with it."
"Which is awesome!" King said while he fed more treats to the trash slug.
"It is," she nodded. "It also makes me wonder what else they have in her realm."
"Are you going to check it yourself?"
"Maybe. If I do, I'll need Luz to be my guild." Eda narrows her eyes at the flashing key. "I can't go in blindly like I did with the other realm. Plus, and I hate this, I get the feeling that Luz would want to head back to look for others like her."
Now King looked confused. "Why would that be bad for Luz to look for more of her people?"
"Because they put a kid on a battlefield, King!" Eda said in an anger-lanced tone. "I'll be the first to admit I've done my share of questionable things, but there are some lines you don't cross. And what Luz revealed to us about what they assigned her to do is true. I'm not exactly thrilled to help them."
Eda leaned back into her chair and let out a tired sigh. "Children leading soldiers. Raised to obey their rules or be socially outcast. No family. Give me Hexside any day! Even if my family can be annoying, at least I have them while she doesn't have anyone..." The Witch then looks around and realizes something. "Speaking of, where is Luz?"
"Interesting," Principle Bump said as he mills over the suggestion. "You've presented me with an interesting opportunity, Luz Noceda. To my knowledge, Humans have never performed magic, yet you have shown several feats that could be described as such."
The two had moved from a nearby field where Luz demonstrated her knowledge and use of the Force. Levitating several balls to show her multi-focusing skills and use of telekinesis. Using it enhanced her muscles briefly for speed and strength. And lastly, to commune with a few nearby animals that were in the Beast track's stable.
"So now that you've shown me what you can do, and to me, that's enough to approve your request to join Hexside next semester."
Luz smiled at that. "Thank you, Principal Bump. I look forward to attending." She then rubbed her shoulder and looked unsure about this next topic. "Can I talk to you about something? It concerns another student here, specifically Willow."
"Hmmm? What about Miss Parks?" He inquired. Wondering what this human will say about the Park girl.
"I believe she isn't sorted correctly on the right track. I'd bet she would thrive better with plant magic."
"In the plant track, you mean? What makes you say that?"
Luz shifted a bit. "To those who are Force-sensitive like me, we are more fine-tuned to the environment and our surroundings. Earlier I've noticed Willow performing an extraordinary feat with Plant Magic," she explained. "In the abomination track, I saw her struggling in creating them. I would like to see her succeed in life. A teacher dedicated to the growth of his students like yourself would want this for his students, wouldn't you agree?"
'Hopefully, by stroking his ego, I can help Willow,' Luz thought.
Principle Bump hummed, "I see. Sadly I can't take your word for it, for I need to see this myself." The Principal explained.
"Well, let's go get her then." Luz instead.
Principal bump wrote a note and used one of his abominations to mail it to Willow. Luz shivered at the sight of the goo monster. She wasn't going to get used to that thing. As the two waited for Willow to show up, they talked more about the magic tracks they teach. The more she hears about them, the more it sounded like the Jedi's three distinct schools of thought and the Service Corps. A magic course that focuses on healing magic sounded a lot like the Jedi Healers in the Temple.
It wasn't long before a familiar glasses-wearing girl came over to them. Willow looked uncertain when she approached them. Luz gave her a comforting smile which visibly helped when she stepped up to them. "You wanted to see me, Principle Bump?"
"Yes, Miss Park. For you see, Luz here believes that you would do better in school by switching to another track." Bump gestures. "Seeing that she has complete confidence in you. I will allow you this chance to demonstrate to me what you can do," he explains.
This stunned Willow and looked at Luz and saw her giving the girl a thumbs up. Willow grabbed Luz's arm. "Principal Bump, could you excuse us for a moment?" She says before dragging her away to the other side of the field. "Luz, what are you doing?!"
Luz went over and placed a comforting hand on the girl's shoulder. "Look, I saw how much you were struggling with that monster magic, then you did that plant magic with no problem."
"Luz, why did you do this?" Willow asked.
"Because I want to help," Luz replied. "I saw what you did, Willow, and I can say I've never seen someone as powerful as you when you made those vines. Sure it was out of anger but in the end, you got a hold of yourself and stopped any harm that could be done."
Willow raised an eyebrow at the Jedi. "At this point, I don't have much of a choice other than saying no...Thank you, Luz."
"You're welcome, Willow," Luz responded. "Are you going to show off?" She asked.
Willow looked at the ground around. It was just grass. She could make some simple plants grow, but she really needed to impress Bump.
Luz watched her friend analyze the area around them on what they could use. Then she remembered the slime cover object in her pocket. The Jedi pulled it out and showed it to Willow.
"Would this help?" Luz offers the slim ball.
The Witch girl's eyes widened with excitement. "Yes, Luz, this is perfect. Good thing you had this seed on you," Willow said as she grabbed it.
"Yeah… good thing," Luz responded, now feeling a bit sad for doubting Eda. "Okay Principal Bump, prepare to be amazed!" She called out.
Luz ran over and stood next to the school owner. Willow placed the seed in her lap before drawing a green magic circle above it. "Please grow!"
An enormous green vine burst out of the seed and into the air. Branches and more vines split apart, forming new sections that burst with new colorful life of flowers of all kinds. Principal Bump was impressed, amazed by its beauty and the amount of magic she must've used. "Remarkable."
"Whoa..." Luz said in awe as she watched the new tree grow from a seed sapling to the size of an AT-TE walker in no time flat. Even from across the field, Luz could feel the power hit her like a speeder bike. Making her stumble back and almost falling to the ground. The raw intensity behind the spell was incredible and more powerful than any spell she's seen Eda perform. "That's amazing..."
"Indeed." Principal Bump nodded in agreement.
Willow seemed her magic and walked over to the two with a proud look on her face. "How did I do, Principle Bump?"
"Magnificent, Miss Parks! I do say I believe it now you would do quite well in the Plant Magic Track. What do you say?" He asked.
Willow's eyes beamed with excitement. "Yes! Yes! I would love that very much, Principal Bump."
The Principal raised his hand and drew a spell circle in the air. The leggings and sleeves of Willow's uniform charged color and now were a green.
"You will receive your new coursework and start your new classes tomorrow, Miss Park. Miss Noceda, in a minute, follow me back to my office so we can complete the paper portion of your enrollment. I'll wait for you at the entrance." Bump left the two.
Luz was enveloped by a hug. Willow held the human in a tight grip.
"Luz… Thank you," Willow said as she squeezed her new friend. Luz, on the other hand, was gasping for breath.
"You're… Welcome… Willow!" Luz gasped out.
Much later, Luz walked out of the school with Willow and another student, one of Willow's few friends. A dark skin young boy named Augustus, who freaked out when he saw that Luz was a human and that Willow never told him she met her. The dude freaked out more when Luz gave him the nickname Gus after knowing another Jedi who went by the Witch's same name. He had asked a bunch of weird questions about humans that Luz tried to explain to the best of her abilities. Some questions were just out there.
"So humans don't nail barbed wire to their teeth to make them magnetic?" Gus clarifies.
"No… that sounds incredibly painful," Luz shook her head.
"Huh, maybe this was wrong?" Gus pulls out a floppy magazine.
The girls ignored their human-obsessed friend as they walked. Only to stop when a particular green-haired student leaned up against a tree.
"Willow," Amity said.
"Amity," the teen in question said. "Something you want?"
The girl narrowed her golden eyes, took in the three, and saw Willows Plant track uniform and the human Jedi. "I heard you switch tracks and that a human had entered the school. I wanted to see for myself if the rumor mill was authentic for once." Amity walked up to the three. Luz took a step up and confronted the girl.
"Amity, is it?" Luz asked. The teen nodded as they stood two feet apart from one another. "Luz Noceda, indeed you heard right. I am a human and the one responsible for getting Willow onto the Plant Track."
"Why?" Amity asked and was interested in what she had to say.
"Why not? I saw someone struggling in life and went in to help. Was it wrong for me to do so?" Luz questioned back.
Amity seemed to flinch at that remark. "I see… just so you know, hanging out with them is a social killer."
Luz kept her face unreadable. "And why should I care what others think of who I hang with? I happen to enjoy Willow's company and hopefully continue this current relationship we have." Amity had a sour look.
"Just a friendly warning," Amity said last before walking off.
Luz's eyebrow rose a bit at that. "Consider myself warned."
The three watched the teen walk away till she was out of sight. Gus was the first to speak. "That was weird. Amity is never that mild to us."
"Yeah, she didn't even call me Half-a-witch," Willow added.
Luz had watched and paid attention to the interaction. Something just seemed… fake about that Amity girl. "Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to head back home. Sure, Eda is worried about me."
"Luz!"
"Speak of the Witch." The teens saw Eda running at them in full throttle before stopping and grabbing Luz and tossing her over the elder Witch's shoulder, then ran. "Eda?!" Luz shouted in surprise.
"Don't worry, kid. I'll protect you from being taken by those Hexside nerds!" Eda said as she ran with the reluctant Jedi on her shoulder.
"Bye Luz! See you next time!" Gus said to her with Willow waving their hands at her in farewell.
Luz let out a sigh. "When did my life get so weird?"
Tell me more of what you all think where I'm going with this and what randomness will happen next. Trust me, no one is going to figure out what I have instore next for Luz and the Owl House.
Also did anyone not see what happend at the end with Raine?! Holy!- I did not see that happening with what Kiki did. The plot thickens with the day of unity fast approaching. Makes me wonder what Belo's has planned. Also King wanting to take on Eda's sir name and name himself as Eda's child was just plan cute.
