A/N: The second Liones chapter! (For some reason this sounds detective related...) Also, important note for the story, each segment (yeah let's call where the line breaks are segments) are basically following a different Sin in their adventures with their babysitter. I might just title them I've spent a lot of time crafting the plots for these after all. the list of things includes: making sure to consider what the Sins' individual characters are like and how they'd act as kids, as well as how their babysitters would act. In short, I've been waiting for this point in the story and have prepared!
Anydoodles, I don't have much else to say except let's keep the count going! Right now it's 28 Follows, 25 Faves and 33 Reviews! So thanks for contributing towards it (even if you've just read the story).
Silver - Oh, don't worry about not reviewing. Real life tends to get the best of us after all :). Yeah, I thought having Guila and Jericho find the kids would be nice, plus Veronica with Meliodas - I just had to add it. I'm glad you liked the interactions with Margaret and Baltra (more of that to come in this chapter) and you were correct about Merlin. Now...writing 'The Babysitting Adventures of Howzer' (yes I have named it, I've put a lot of dedication into this subplot) is the most enjoyable plot to write at the moment. I can see so many comedic scenes happening with Diane, King and their assigned babysitter. As suspected King is going to be a pain for Howzer, while Diane is bouncing off the walls! But I'll let you read now, thanks for reviewing! ^w^
Ashley - You're onto something with Elizabeth...I'll letcha wonder which one I'm gonna do, but don't tell anyone else your theory! (It's gotta remain a secret *laughs*). But I think you'll enjoy a little extra surprise I've placed at the end of this chapter. Yes, poor King's stuck with Howzer - The Babysitting Adventures of Howzer (my name for the subplot) are gonna be the most fun parts to write! Griamore isn't lame, but his ability isn't too nice for the kids. Remember they love sneaking off and causing mayhem. Oh and Elizabeth's gonna have a bunch of fun with her sisters and father - I have a few games planned out for the royal family. *cute evil chuckles* Thanks for the kind review though, as always, and I'll let you read on now.
Darkjuliet4444 - Well first off, thank you for the kind reviews! I'm glad this story has become a favourite ^w^. Ok, now for actually responding. I'm glad you enjoyed the Ban moment, but it's not over yet. I still have a little bit more planned. Merlin had nothing to do with this actually, it's just past memories resurfacing due to the spell. I'm planning to bring up a lot of past demons for all the Sins, so I suggest you prepare! But you're not wrong with the comparison to King, it's almost exactly the same. *shivers* I'll make sure to make 'em bond though! Plus you're onto something with the Ten Commandments, I'll letcha wonder what they've planned... I'm glad you liked the last chapter, your second review definitely showed that, and I enjoyed reading it. You're right about quite a few things and I think you'll enjoy the little surprise I've added at the end of this chapter.
Well, till next time,
D.L.D
"Would you like some tea, Sir Hawk?" Elizabeth pulled off her best fancy face as she turned to the pig, teapot raised at her mini table. On it sat a miniature tea set, the thing perfected for the art of little girls' tea parties and all that stuff. Plates, cups, saucers - even a milk jug and sugar bowl. All had been thought of when the sisters had received this gift years ago, however none had imagined it would be used so long after childhood.
Since her arrival at Liones, Elizabeth had been spoiled rotten. Anything she desired, the princess had received. Dresses; treats; toys and even some of her past possessions had been found when requested. Soon the princess had found that she was in a world of her own, a world where she could play endless games with whomever she desired and get away with it. As a result she called for a tea party between herself, Hawk, her sisters and her father.
All of them were dressed for the occasion, Elizabeth in one of her old gowns and her sisters in their own. Hawk was even given a little bow tie. Elizabeth's father on the other hand was free to come as he pleased, the tiny princess knowing that she knew nothing of men's fashion. As a result, all royal persons (and the talking pig) sat around a table, eating treats and humoring the child Elizabeth as she played hostess.
"Oh yes please, Elizabeth!" Hawk beamed, snout buried in his plate of cakes. Cream had gathered in specs across the animal's face. "It smells delicious!"
The princess giggled at that, pouring her pink friend some of the warm beverage. She then made her way around the table, serving her sisters and then her father. Baltra seemed the most pleased, a smile coming to his face as he raised his cup. Memories seemed to be flooding him as he accepted his youngest daughter's offer.
"Why thank you, Elizabeth," He pat her on the head. "You're very thoughtful."
The silver-haired girl reddened at this, a slight smile gracing her features. Clutching the teapot in her hands, Elizabeth turned to the king.
"I'm just glad to help father!" The child princess spoke determinedly, cheeks puffed out as she made her way back to her spot. "I may not be helpful military wise, but I'm an expert at things like tea parties."
"That you are, my dear, that you are," Baltra agreed, fully going along with it all as he downed his tea. He was having a good time after all, enjoying the sweet innocence of one of his children. A refreshing change from the dreariness of the present.
Veronica sighed at this however, shaking her head as she looked into her own teacup. The amber liquid seemed to reflect her features perfectly, mirroring her scowl with a watery texture and distorting when she roughly picked up the cup.
Why is everyone going along with this? Can't they see that it's unnatural? That Ellie may be stuck as a child forever? How could they just sit by like this? Especially the King. He seemed the most content, striking a silly conversation with the child Elizabeth.
"You'd think father would be the most shocked at this," Veronica muttered bitterly as she took a sip from her cup.
Her comment was ignored in favor of tea and idle chat, Hawk and the others enjoying this bizarre tea party.
"This tea is amazing!" Hawk exclaimed, a blush spreading across his piggy features. He took another generous gulp from his bowl. "I have to know what's in it!"
Elizabeth blushed at this, caught off guard by the sudden question from her guest. A question that all hostesses should know for their tea parties. It was part of the etiquette to know after all. You should know what's in the tea you serve, as well as all the cakes and treats.
"Well - it's - it's - uh..."
"It's a special blend," Margaret answered, soft smile growing as she whispered into her younger sister's ear.
Elizabeth always was the forgetful one when they were younger. She'd always wander off or forget what she needed to say next. The embodiment of innocence many would say. A true Goddess through and through, if she were one. But perhaps Elizabeth was one in a past life - but that would just be wild thinking as the Goddesses died of many years ago. Her younger sister was only too innocent for her own good, that was all. Talks and ideals of Goddesses were only that: words and ideas.
"It's a special blend!" Elizabeth smiled, answering confidently for the pig. "A very special blend for a very special Sir Hawk!"
Her answer made the three older guests laugh, nostalgia and warmth spreading in their smiles and soft expressions. This was exactly what it was like all those years ago, bumbling and innocent - warm and unknowing - and feeling that once again was nice. Very nice. Like enjoying a warm bath or eating food that's 'just right': it feels warm and welcoming, nice and mellow, and you find yourself sinking into it. Basking.
"Yes, a very special blend indeed," Margaret smiled teasingly, offering her teacup to her sister. "A refill please, Ms Host."
"As you wish," Elizabeth hummed and she began her rounds again, attending to her 'guests' every need.
A single trio stood in the courtyard, playing some obscure game of kicking stones - oh wait no they're not. The kids were just bored and found a way to occupy themselves through kicking random pebbles, whilst they awaited their assigned babysitters. How droll. All guesses pointed towards the children getting Holy Knights as caregivers, especially since none of the royals were available. They were all too busy with occupying Elizabeth and making sure Merlin was comfy in the research space they provided after all.
As a result, the circumstances left the Holy Knights as the next capable candidates; since there were so many there was no doubt about that happening too. Talk about a killjoy to any plans the child Sins had. Whoever was their babysitter would more or less certified to diffuse any plans immediately.
So the trio waited outside, still within the safety of the castle, watching as people passed and hoping that they wouldn't get someone boring as a childminder. But the odds of that were slim, especially since the fun was nowhere to be seen and only boring remained. Plain, old, sucky boring.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting," Guila arrived dragging Zeal along with her, Jericho and Griamore in tow.
All three knights looked as if they'd been called unexpectedly, armour gone and every day attire in place instead. They each looked slightly worn out, but wore smiles for the children nonetheless. Signs of deception to the children who knew all the tricks in the book. It was only Zeal who wore genuine excitement as he spotted the other kids, glad to have someone his age that his sister wasn;t so protective with. Guila had a habit of babying Zeal after all...
"Don't apologise!" Jericho huffed as she gave each of the kids a sideways glance. She carried a bag with her. "We didn't turn them into kids, so it's not our fault they need to be babysat."
Offense was greatly taken, even if it was just Jericho being bitchy because some of her free time was taken to look after some kid. An extremely smart and most likely cheeky kid at that. These weren't normal kids, ere go it was going to be a challenge to keep them under control. So of course it was no surprise when Ban took the most offence, response ready before he could even blink.
"Hey, that's a low blow, Cheerio!" Ban growled, glaring at her.
Sure, it wasn't Jericho's fault they were kids, but it wasn't his either! None of them had expected to suddenly wake up as kids one day, let alone have babysitters on top of that. Plus who in their right mind would want that?! The addition of babysitters made the situation all the more embarrassing and condescending. Not to mention being babied and spoken to like you're a complete moron. To Ban, this whole thing was like slapping him across the face and saying 'since you can't look after your damn self at the age of an adult, we're gonna do it for ya!'.
"Well it's true isn't it?" Jericho refuted, sticking her tongue out at the boy. "And it's Jeri-cho, not Cheerio. Learn to talk squirt."
"Why you - "
"Those two really are kids aren't they?" Guila sighed as she looked at the two. Weariness crossed her features as she glanced down at Zeal and then her ward, Gowther. She was hoping that her brother and the doll wouldn't get into arguments like Jericho and Ban. After all it would take a lot of energy to break them up, not to mention set a punishment.
"Don't worry I see no interest in that," Gowther spoke, voice as soft and analytical as always. "Fighting is never the real answer."
"And right you are," The knight smiled, although flustered that the Goat Sin had read her so easily, "I just wish Jericho would learn that for once..."
Speaking of Jericho, she was still going back and forth with Ban, both pulling faces as if that proved their point all the more. Curses, kicks and pinches were also awarded before the others (the audience consisting of the two knights and three children) decided to block their childish spat out and instead move on with babysitting matters. That was the reason why they were ultimately all called to the castle.
"Well I'm hoping we get along much better than that, Meliodas," Griamore spoke, his expression seeming tired before he glanced towards his ward for the next few days. He knew that the dragon Sin was far from innocent, but perhaps he would be more reasonable than Ban. "You ready for some training?"
"What? Me?" Meliodas blinked, head tilting and spilling blonde locks.
"Yep," The knight nodded, grinning, "I'm assuming in that child body of yours, your power's dropped a little. I wouldn't mind helping you get it back."
"Yeah, I don't mind," The blonde shrugged, before an innocent grin came into view as he stuffed his hands in his pockets. He had the perfect way to turn this around in his favor. Maybe he could rope Elizabeth into it too...He just had to find a way how. "Could be fun."
The knight nodded in response and soon the two were off, heading towards the training grounds and leaving the others behind. A wise choice, may I add.
"Man, Cap'n always gets all the fun," Ban sulked as he kicked at the ground, done with his spat with Jericho.
The female knight groaned as the boy suddenly lost interest in insulting her. She couldn't believe how unlucky she was to be stuck with this asshat for the next few days. He was so much work, not to mention way too mouthy for a kid. Yet somehow he manages to pull it off in an adorable way, making him seem more like one of those cliche bad boys than an actual pain in the ass. Boy were impressions wrong.
"Hey! I wasn't done with you!" Jericho fumed as she stomped a foot, before turning her back on the boy. Arms folded across her chest as her foot continued to tap irritably. "It doesn't matter anyway. I'll just cancel that surprise I had planned."
"Surprise?" Ban's eyes seemed to light up, greed coming into play as the knight's words rang in his ears. Oh he liked the sound of that! Maybe he could save some of it for Kilia, or just tell her about it later. He knew that doing something like that would put a smile on her face, especially after begin surrounded by prissy princesses all day. "Did I hear that right?"
"Yeah...I had one planned," Jericho trailed off, confused from Ban's sudden joy. Odd since he was usually moany as hell when around her.
"Well sign me up, Jeritown!" Ban grinned, chuckling as he went to stand beside his caretaker. He even waited obediently, hands in his pocket and smile on face.
"Ok..." The knight blinked, studying him briefly before deciding to go along with it. But before she left, Jericho had to make sure Guila would be ok. Both agreed to help the other with this task after all. "Hey Guila, you need help with glasses freak?"
Jericho frowned as she noticed the knight happily introducing her little brother to the Goat Sin. A small smile was on Guila's face as she watched the two somehow find equal ground, bonding over something none of them had any idea about.
"No, I should be fine," Guila turned from watching, waving a hand absentmindedly. "I'll see you later."
"Yeah definitely," Jericho smiled, before grimacing as Ban was trying to pull her away from her partner. She could feel the brat pulling on her skirt, most likely close to ripping the material. "Ok, ok we're going. Sheesh."
"Well hurry up!" Ban grumbled, releasing the skirt but still looking antsy. "Surprises don't wait around ya'know!"
Jericho rolled her eyes at this, already tired of her ward's actions. If Ban kept up like this, then the next few days were definitely going to be a long.
Babysitting Adventures of Howzer - Part 1 Market Mayhem
"Wow! Look at all the pretty stalls and items!"
Diane was all over the place, excited to be tiny and in such a place bustling with people. Clothes, food, materials, goods: all seemed to be sold in the central market of Liones. Boasting of its large variety of vendors, merchants and all sorts, the place was a complete treasure trove for the shrunken giantess. She was obsessed with seeing what life was like for the 'tiny people' and so was fascinated by everything as the small group made their way through her requested stop.
Howzer also seemed to share Diane's enthusiasm, joining the brunette in her seemingly limitless curiosity and impulse buying. It resulted in him seeming to not hesitate when she requested something, although he did have his limits. Very small limits if you ask me...she is a child you know! Not many children have a sense of money after all. They just spend and spend, and ask and ask, not realising that a lot of work went into getting that money. But Howzer seemed to ignore that small detail in favour of impressing Diane.
So naturally King was mopey. The fairy king more or less floated behind them, taking occasional naps on his magical pillow (yes, the author has called it that) and trying to drown out the noise of the people around him. The nice weather didn't help either, the warm sun rays seeming to entice him into sleeping. But King was too occupied to sleep for long. Not when he had some matters to take care of first. Matters in the form of a very annoying babysitter.
Quite rightly so, the Grizzly Sin wished to do something about the knight threatening to steal Diane away, in fact he was just about riled up to do something; but right now his sin of Sloth was in play. In normal terms, he was too lazy to do anything right now. Yep, too lazy. But that didn't mean King wasn't planning anything. Oh in fact he was just waiting for a moment to strike. A moment that should pop up almost instantly in the busy market.
"Oooh, that looks pretty!" Diane raced up to yet another stall, attention caught by whatever was on display. That meant that Howzer followed behind, assuming that King would follow as he always does. But this time the fairy had something else planned. Something totally childish and petty, but worth it if he could make Howzer look bad.
Floating off in the opposite direction, the fairy glanced at the surrounding area before finding what he was looking for. An alleyway. Yep, a dark, dank alleyway that most kids would run away screaming from. The type that nightmare monsters lived in and very vulgar people use to pee when there were no public places available. The type where serial killers take unsuspecting victims and other despicable people do unspeakable things. King chose to go in one of those.
Still silent the child slipped into the alley, hugging his pillow close as he waited for anyone to follow.
One minute.
Two minutes.
Three.
Guess no-one was coming. His plan had worked and so the next part should start soon. Well it should start as soon as Diane or Howzer notice he's gone missing. Personally the fairy's bet was on Diane, but he had a feeling Howzer would notice too. The knight wasn't heartless after all, just competition with Diane.
Yawning slightly, the fairy made himself comfortable. The next thing he knew, he was asleep, warmed by the slight rays of the sun.
"Where's King?" Diane frowned, upset that she couldn't find the fairy. She was just so interested by something, something that she wanted to show him, but now that she'd gotten it he was gone. Vanished. Poof. Like smoke in the wind.
"I don't know..." Howzer frowned, scratching his head slightly as he scanned the area around them. The kid couldn't have gone far. The last time Howzer had seen King was not more than five minutes ago. Surely the fairy just got separated in the crowds and was just staying put so he wouldn't get more lost. Or perhaps he had actually lost himself and was now wandering about by himself. The knight cursed. "The king's gonna kill me!"
"Not to mention Captain," Diane hummed, enjoying a tart from an earlier stall. She was really hiding the fact that she would be upset if Howzer had lost King. He was a dear friend after all, much more in fact. "You'd better find him."
Howzer tensed, taken aback by the sudden harsh and demanding tone of the giantess. It was so unlike the cheery Diane that this child version portrayed, but it seemed that as soon as King had disappeared she wasn't as cheery. In fact she seemed a little antsy.
"Y-yeah we'll get started on that now," Howzer stuttered slightly, still dazed. "I'm sure he's not too far off."
The giantess nodded in agreement and soon the two were retracing their steps, looking out for King or the giant pillow he was floating around on. They had made their way back to the beginning by now, no signs of King or of anyone having seen him yet. Not one person could say where this mysterious floating kid had wandered off to, and many asked the knight if he was ok or if he was just playing a game with Diane.
As a result, both were disheartened as they found themselves back at the beginning and having not seen King.
"Where could he have gone..." Diane sighed as she kept searching around her, but she knew it was pointless. King wasn't around here - he couldn't be. No-one had seen him and the duos attempts to find him had resulted in nothing.
"I'm just as clueless as you are," Howzer frowned, trying to think of where a kid of King's size could hide. Suddenly, it struck him. King was being a little more than sour today, not saying much and definitely lagging behind. If he had a guess, then Howzer knew that the fairy had hidden off somewhere. It was most likely an attempt to get back at the knight for forgetting him, or perhaps because Diane seemed so busy he figured going off for a while would do some good.
But whatever it was, Howzer sure wasn't happy that he'd pulled a stunt like that. King could've landed him a bad name or even a warning of dismissal. That wouldn't have gone down well at all, especially since he valued his role as a Holy Knight.
"Come on, we have one more place to search," Howzer glanced towards Diane, knowing of only a few more places where King could've gone if he was intentionally hiding from them.
"Ok," Diane nodded, following and hoping for Howzer's sake that he could find King.
"King!"
The fairy woke from a nice nap, finding something squeezing him tightly. Really tightly. He opened his eyes to see Diane smiling at him, tears brimming in her eyes, while Howzer stood back. The knight wore a look of complete disappointment, not to mention slight frustration, as he studied the fairy.
It seems that after the time of how long a decent nap is, the duo had found King successfully. Well that's what the fairy had gathered from how well-rested he felt, not to mention that he felt like he hadn't moved in a while. Who knew alleyways were such great places to nap? They really had the wrong impression from serial killers and stuff. However King's revelation was cut short as Howzer immediately started on him, role as a babysitter prominent as ever.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" The knight snapped as he looked at the kid. "Do you know what couldn't happened if we didn't find you?"
King froze slightly at this, knowing that it was true. What he did was highly irresponsible and downright dangerous. Anything could have happened in the span of time he was missing for, not to mention that he was on a wanted poster for the price of a life. If he had bumped into the wrong person then...even the thought of what could happen was grim. Suppressing a shiver, the fairy exhaled as he settled for burying his face in Chastiefol.
Better to block out more scolding than to actually admit defeat.
But Diane seemed to have King's back, immediately responding in his defense. Her expression was firm as she looked Howzer dead in the eye, suddenly not acting as kiddie as before. In fact she seemed to be slipping back into her 'usual' self, the version that had been missing for a while now.
"King didn't mean to wander off, Howzer," The giantess shook her head, standing between the knight and fairy. "I'm sure he just got lost. Right King?"
The question provided the perfect setup to make Howzer look like he lost his temper for no reason. Just what the fairy needed to achieve the goal of his plan. So of course he went along with Diane's excuse, pulling off an 'I'm innocent and scared' act to emphasize his words.
"Yeah, the crowds separated us and I fell asleep..." He squeezed his pillow close. "It was so big and scary...I didn't know what to do, so I hid somewhere."
"You did, huh?" Howzer seemed to think it over, studying the fairy before offering an easy-going smile. He was worried after all, even if King was acting a little more mopey today. That was evident in the way he formed a slight apology, decent enough to look sheepish. "Well sorry for yelling at ya. You just had me worried. The last thing I want is for anything bad to happen to any of you."
King took in these words, seeming to stop frowning, but not smiling. Instead he opted to think as the group made their way back onto the main street, once again diving head first into what was left of the day. However King still lagged behind, watching the knight interact with Diane. He sure was being nice, not to mention he sucked up to her - like a lot. But what struck King as odd was that he'd chosen to apologise and was even trying to bring him out of his grumpy mood.
Odd since King had a dislike of him and the fairy was sure that was evident.
So as the day waned on into evening, King came to the conclusion that he didn't like nor hate Howzer. He was just in the middle. Not liked, not hated, not anything. Howzer was just...there. Yep, that suited the fairy's opinion of the knight. He wasn't hated - King just didn't particularly enjoy his company. But Howzer wasn't bad either, he had some good qualities that were worthwhile.
As a result the fairy chose to tolerate the knight, deciding to partake in the day's leftover events while also still observing.
A/N: Surprise! I thought of making Elizabeth's little movie(?) of her past self into mini chapters on the end of normal ones. Just as a way of saying thanks to everyone for being so supportive. So make sure to look out for these extra parts. I'm gonna title this one: Deity's Child.
Deity's Child
"You are the Deity's Child; A beacon of hope: A Goddess."
The first words that were ever spoken to me were about who I was. What I was. I had no chance to discover it on my own.
I was born into a world that seemed so blindingly bright and white. Light appeared to be everywhere, blocking my vision and only amplifying my wails as I came from the familiarity of my mother. From the one thing I had to tie me to my very being. But I didn't even get a chance to discover that. No, instead my eyes slowly opened to reveal a room that was so open and airy. So strange and alien and yet...welcoming.
A baby blue sky seemed to be visible from the corner of my vision, but I wasn't too sure as a lot was blurred. It was all mainly blurs really - with colours being here and there. But I couldn't distinguish shapes or other things. Only blurs and a few colours.
"You shall be named Elizabeth," A soft voice spoke, something seeming to follow as it lightly grazed my features before tapping me gently on the nose. Perhaps it was a hand. "God is my abundance..."
God huh? I wonder whatever that could mean. What it could mean for me. Why would my namer choose to name me something that linked to God? Something that seemed to be valued greatly. But first of all, what is God?
"Why what a lovely name," Another voice remarked, most definitely feminine. It seemed in awe as the hand continued to move, distracting me from my thoughts. "I'm sure she'll do it proud."
A light chuckle followed that, the hand now moving and voice seeming further away.
"I know she will," The first voice seemed happy, content. I could imagine a warm smile matching with it, the sort that belonged to a very motherly person. "She'll be just like her mother...a proud, strong Goddess. She'll never stray from the light."
The light? What is...the light?
Sleepiness was overtaking me now, I could feel it playing with my eyelids. Listening and questioning was growing very tiring. These voices were too much, too draining. Not even a yawn could pass with the little energy I had left.
"Shhh, sleep little one," Something touched my forehead and I felt a warmth pass through me. A light, comfortable warmth. Drowsiness. I could feel sleep growing on me now, eyelids drooping as I look towards the voice. "Now...we'll begin...her...shortly. She'll...the light..."
I then fell asleep almost instantly, not drifting into darkness but feeling as I did before birth: safely wrapped and comfortably warm.
