That afternoon Virgil and Jamien loaded up in ThunderBird 2 and took off to the vets. On the other side of the vets was a clear land where Virgil could land TB2. Unfortunately, TB2 landed outside the vet. Virgil and Jamien walked out of TB2 and crossed the road next to the vets. Virgil opened the front door and walked to a lady sitting at the disk. The lady sitting at the disk was one of the ladies that knew Tracy well.
" Hello, Phoebe", Virgil said to her.
Phoebe looked up and saw Virgil.
"Hello Virgil, Lisa is waiting for you in room 16", Phoebe said back to Virgil.
" Thanks, come, Jamien", Virgil said while walking to room 16.
Virgil reached room 16, and the door was wide open, Virgil knocked on the door, and Lisa turned around for the table.
" Come on in, boys", Lisa said, looking at Virgil and Jamien.
Virgil walked into the room with Jamien following him. Virgil checked his fingers "up," Jamien jumped up on the table, and Lisa was standing on the left side with Virgil standing on the right side and Jamien in the middle.
" So where is the lump on his paw" Lisa said to Virgil.
Virgil carefully grabbed Jamien's left paw and spilled his first and second parts to show Lisa what the lump was. Lisa opened a drawer and pulled out a needle with Virgil holding Jamien's toes apart; so Lisa could get a sample for the lump and blood. Lisa jabbed the needle into the lump and pulled the plunger out to get the sample. When Lisa jabbed the needle, poor Jamien whined and jumped a little. Still holding his paw, Virgil started rubbing it to calm down Jamien while Lisa got the sample. Lisa pulled out the needle and placed it in a plastic seal bag.
" Ok, you can let go of his paw", Lisa said to Virgil.
Virgil let go of Jamien's paw and looked at Lisa's face.
" What's wrong," Virgil said, looking at Lisa.
" Nothing. I will get the results for the test; it will take 4-5minutes", Lisa said to Virgil.
" You can stay here until will find out, or you can go home back, and we will call you with the results", Lisa said to Virgil.
" We will stay and wait in TB2; you can just call me, and we will come back in", Virgil said back to Lisa.
Virgil walks out of the room, and Jamien jumps off the table and follows him out of the vet back to TB2. While in the cockpit of TB2, Virgil talked with Scott over the radio, and Jamien was sleeping in the co-pilot chair. While talking to Scott, Virgil felt his phone going off in his pocket. Scott signed off the radio, and Virgil pulled out his phone and answered the call.
" Hello", Virgil answered.
" Hello Virgil, it's Lisa with the results; please come so I can tell you", Lisa said with a worried voice.
Virgil got out of his chair and walked over to the hatch door. Jamien heard getting up, jumping out of the co-pilot chair, and walking over to Virgil. Virgil opened the hatch walked out of TB2 with Jamien following behind him, and went back into the vets. Lisa was waiting for the boys back in room 16 with the results from the sample. The boys entered the room, and Virgil closed the door behind him.
" I have the results", Lisa said while Virgil was closing the door.
" Well", Virgil said while turning around to look at Lisa.
" It's stage 1 soft tissue sarcoma; it can't be spared..but," Lisa said.
" But what," Virgil said, waiting for Lisa to answer his question.
" Jamien will have a night surgery and stay overnight too, so we can keep an eye on him after surgery", Lisa said to Virgil.
" Ok", Virgil said while he looked down at Jamien lying on the floor.
Virgil handed over Jamien's collar and leash to Lisa.
" You been a good boy while I am gone, Jamien", Virgil said to Jamien.
" Jamien hasn't spent time away from me", Virgil said with a worried voice.
" That's ok. We will be with him all all-time in surgery and out of surgery", Lisa said to ease Virgil.
Virgil just nodded his head and left Jamien at the vets.
