7 years later.
It has been seven years since that fateful day since then young Iris has grown up into a happy girl with her family but she doesn't know her name was ever Iris Potter. But as she got old Akari as she was named started to notice things, differences about herself and her family. Until one night she could not hide her curiosity anymore.
Akari glanced between her mom and dad nervously as she picked at her food with her chopsticks and fidgeted in her chair absentmindedly.
After watching her for a few moments her father set his chopsticks down and cleared his throat. "Is something wrong Akari?" He asked in a polite yet concerned tone of voice as he looked at his daughter. His wife also stopped eating to watch the conversation.
Akari took a few moments before speaking up. "Dad, why don't I look like you or mom?" She asked in a shy tone of voice indicating her fear at the reply.
Her question was a very understandable one, after all she had bright crimson hair and emerald green eyes while he and Kasumi had black hair and brown eyes, nevertheless he dreaded the day he had to answer this question.
Akito glanced over at her mother who nodded at him and set her own chopsticks down as well. "Honey, the reason for that is that we adopted you." He answered in a gentle yet loving tone of voice.
"One day when I was picking berries in the woods I found a baby wrapped in a blanket and laying in a basket. I brought her home and Akito and I decided to raise her as our own child." Kasumi added as she reached out and took her daughter's hands into her own.
Akari was silent for several moments as her mind seemed to try and process the information she had just been given by her parents. "S-so I-I was unwanted by my parents?" She asked as tears started to fill her eyes.
"I don't know, the only other thing we found was that pendant so we gave it to you figuring it was important." Akito said as he finished the story and pulled his daughter into a hug. "But one thing I do know is that we wanted you, and we still do."
Kasumi nodded at this. "Do you still want us as your parents?" She asked in a gentle tone but her eyes betrayed her concern.
Akari went quiet for a brief moment as she seemed to focus, for as long as she could remember she could feel what other people felt especially if she focused her mind on them. As she focused her mind on her mom and dad she felt nothing but love and concern from her parents towards her.
She opened her eyes, quickly dried her tears and nodded at her mom and dad. "Yes I would not have it any other way." She said with a bright smile. Despite still having tears in her eyes.
Akito and Kasumi returned her smile. "Well then why don't we finish eating and then we find something to do as a family." Kasumi proposed to Akito and Akari nodded in response and returned their focus to their dinner.
That night after her parents had already gone to bed, Akari was sitting up in bed staring up at the moon through her window with a small smile on her face as her thoughts traveled back to dinner. "They really love me." She muttered as she turned to look at her lap, slowly raising one of her hands closer to her face, as it got near her hair started to move as if it was being hit by a very weak but gentle breeze. "I wonder if my real parents are like me?" She thought aloud as her hair stopped moving.
As she grew she noticed strange things happening around her either when she was sad or angry or when she was very close to something like water or fire. She had not gotten much control over it yet but she could turn the power on and off at least.
She set her hand back down on her lap and turned her head towards her room door with a small smile. "I am glad mom and Dad were there for me" She muttered in a grateful tone as she closed her eyes
Flashback 2 years ago
It was starting to get late in the evening as Akari played with the other kids in the village. One of their parents had made a Ball so he had brought it to play with.
As they played her head had started to hurt but she did not pay it much mind because she was having so much fun, that was until.
Akari jumped to catch the ball but missed and fell in the dirt. She quickly shook her head and stood up but once she got on her feet she grasped her head and the noises of the world around her were drowned out as she first felt nothing but pain. Soon that was goon and her mind was overwhelmed with worry as she glanced around at all her friends who gathered around her as well as their parents.
Her eyes darted around her. She was so confused and alarmed she did not know what was going on so she did the only thing she could think of. "MOMMY!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.
end of flashback
Akari shivered remembering that day and how horrible it all felt. It took days before her parents could get her to leave the house again, luckily her power seemed to have settled by then. However other powers started to appear. Whenever they did she would run to her mom and dad and tell them in a panic and they would usually calm her down.
They are not sure where her powers came from but her dad seemed to think it had something to do with the wild creatures known as pokemon. Akari shook her head one more time and took one last look at the moon before she laid down on her bed and closed her eyes to sleep.
5 years later.
Akari was on the verge of becoming fourteen as she made her way through the forest. She had been out picking berries and herbs for her family and the village by herself for the first time. Usually her mom or dad would come with her to show her what to get and help her avoid Pokemon.
But her parents had finally decided she was old enough to go out on her own so long as she did not travel too far from the village.
"That should be enough," Akari said as she looked at her baskets that were filled to the brim with berries. She then turned her gaze up to the sky as it darkened from cloud cover. "Not a moment too soon." She muttered and started her trek back home. As she walked, she occasionally would spot a pokemon out of the corner of her eye and smiled. Unlike most of her village she did not fear the creature, sure the larger ones were quite dangerous but the smaller ones were quite cute.
It also helped that she could feel the emotions of the pokemon, but not even her mom and dad would believe that one. "Then again how would I prove it." She muttered to herself as she walked.
"By showing those folk yond all of mine own children can receiveth 'long with each oth'r. " A voice called out.
Akari froze and glanced around her. "W-who's there?" She asked with a slight amount of fear in her voice, she raised one of her hands and a small flame appeared in it.
"Thee has't not reasoneth to feareth me mine own issue f'r i has't not only been watching ov'r thee, i am the one who is't holp gaveth thee to thy parents." The voice replied.
Akari blinked in confusion due to the beings odd form os speech and it took her a bit to inderstand what was said. "What do you mean "gaveth thee to thy parents? And why won't you show yourself?" She questioned backed.
The voiced seemed to chuckled before finally speaking up once more. "V'ry well." Then before her a dazzlingly light appeared taking the form of some four legged creature that Akari could only Assume was a Pokémon. "To mine own children I am kneweth as arceus, the creat'r of all beings in this w'rld. I wast the one who is't hath found thee, who is't gift'd thee thy pendent, telep'rt'd thee near this village so thy parents wouldst findeth thee and giveth thee a joyous life and I gift'd thee the pow'rs of a Pokémon to a min'r extent" He explained as Akari could only stare at the creature and take in his words.
"But why? Why did you take me away from my parents?" She asked anger rising inside of her after another couple moments of translating.
When Arceus spoke again it was not in anger but in a gentle understanding tone "Thee assume yond thee w're with those folk to beginneth with issue, at which hour i hath found thee thou w're high-lone. I tooketh thee to giveth thee a joyous life and hopefully thee wouldst doth me a fav'r in returneth."
Akari blinked, by now she had a bit easy time understanding and the first sentence was pretty easy to translate. Once she got the beings full message her anger stopped and she looked down at the ground. "What is this favor that you ask of me?"
"To holp mankind und'rstand pokémon. If 't be true thee accepteth i shall giveth thee a few days to sayeth goodbye bef're telep'rting thee to the Hisui Region wh're those gents art w'rking to living 'longside Pokémon in a new way as well as studyeth those folk. If 't be true thee succeedeth in helping those folk we shall meeteth in p'rson and I shall bid thee about thy previous parents if 't be true thee so desire."
Akari looked up at the being of light. "Can I return here afterwards?"She asked after a few moments of contemplation to understand his words and to consider this request.
"Aye I wouldst not stand ho thee from returning infact I wouldst encourge t f'r th're art diff'rent pokémon in hisui then th're art h're who is't knoweth what thee may discov'r"
Akari closed her eyes for several moments as she mulled over her answer before opening them. "I'll do it." She answered with a smile as excitement grew inside of her.
Arceus nodded and seemed to smile at her. "V'ry well in three days timeth thy journey shall beginneth I suggesteth thee maketh thy preparations bef're then and practiceth thy throwing armeth." As he finished speaking the light vanished and he was gone.
Akari stood there smiling to herself but then her eyes widened as all her excitement suddenly vanished. "Oh no, what am I going to tell Mom and Dad?"
I should have put this in the first chapter but I forgot to I will do a update soon with it added in.
