Chapter 10: Meeting Parker
Meredith, Aaron, and Derek walked into the bar, crowded and rowdy like it always was. Laughter at one corner and a bet happening in the other. Although there was a large mass of people inside Emerald City, there were a few unoccupied tables as the rest were used by many of Derek's coworkers.
The floor was covered in peanuts. Derek held Meredith's hand as they made their way through the crowd, Aaron following close behind. Before she knew it, she was being seated at one of the cleaner tables near the bar, Parker sitting right across from her. The round wooden table not even being enough distance from her.
"Hey Park, looks like you didn't have trouble saving us a spot." Derek chuckled, as they hugged, patting each other on the back. Aaron was on the other side looking at the college girls giggling. "I would like you to meet Aaron Micheals, one of my friends and Meredith's best friend. Aaron this is my best bud, Parker Sloan." he introduced them, oblivious from the tight hold Meredith still had on his hand.
Aaron and Parker shook hands, smiling and exchanging some words.
"Wait, Parker Sloan?"
"That's me." he chuckled.
"From East Boston High, right?" he spoke loudly, trying to be heard.
"Yeah. You went there?"
"Oh I did, I was a freshman when you were the captain of the football team there. Big fan. Me and Mer used to go to all the games." he replied with a smile. "Small world. Very small world." he chuckled.
The conversation peaked Derek's interest, glancing at Meredith quickly before firing his questions trying to ease his curiosity.
"Wait, hold up for a minute. You guys went to the same high school? Mer, why didn't you tell me this?" he asked quietly.
"It must have slipped my mind." she replied, stealing a look from Parker who smirked her way. She knew he remembered her from their first meeting, but he was smart. He didn't mention it.
"I think we crossed paths at the school." Parker shrugged before turning to Derek. "It was a big high school"
"Isn't this great Mer? You three have a lot to catch up on then." he smiled warmly, kissing the back of her hand before leaning in for a lip touching kiss. A sound of gagging coming from Aaron who looked away, but she could feel the gaze that was burning her from the man parallel from where she sat.
Great.
Yeah right.
