We are off Tracy Island and are at Gran Roca Ranch. It has been eight weeks since the crab injured Jamien.
Everyone was in the lounge room and having a great day. Scott is sitting on the right of the couch. Scott was reading the newspaper with Snowy lying in his lap. Virgil sits in the chair next to the fireplace where the tv is. Virgil was drawing a picture of Jamine. Jamine was asleep in the middle of the lounge room on his back with his tongue hanging out the left side of his mouth. John is sitting on the left side of the couch. John was on his phone and read the news about the next mars mission. Spiky was lying on the top of the sofa behind John with his head resting on John's right shoulder. Gordon was sitting in the other chair that was facing the tv. Gordon was watching whatever was on. Bridget was lying on top of Gordon's feet. Alan was sitting in the window watching it rain, and James was chewing on a bone next to him.
Scott finished reading the paper and placed it on the floor next to him. Scott put his hand on Snowy's back and sat back on the couch with a smile and closed eyes. John noticed that Scott moved and looked over.
" Mmm", Scott said with a smile, his eyes still closed.
" Mmm, what? John asked Scott.
Scott opened his eyes and saw that everyone was looking at him. Scott rubbed his eyes and yawned.
" Did you fall asleep? Gordon asked while watching the tv.
" I remember when we moved here from Kansas after six months since the accident", Scott answered.
" I missed these days when we were kids", John said while looking at Scott with a sad face.
John moved Spiky's head off his shoulder and left the room. John walked up the staircase.
The room went quiet again. After 10 minutes, John returned to the staircase with a box in his arms. Virgil stopped drawing and placed his sketchbook down on the coffee table. Jamine heard the book hit the table, and Jamien stood and walked over to Virgil and stood in front of him. Jamien looked at Virgil, stood up, and walked over to John, opening the box in the middle of the room. Jamien sat down next to John and watched him open the box. When John opened the box, Jamien tilted his head to the side and looked at John.
" What, Jamien? John asked while pulling out a towel inside the box.
" What's in the John? Alan asked John.
John pulled out VHS tapes and placed them on the ground. Alan turned around to face John.
" What are these? Alan said while standing up and walking over to John.
" They are home videos before we move here then to Tracy island", Gordon said, then went back to watching tv.
John stood up, walked over to the tv, and put it in a VSH trap.
Scott's 2nd Birthday is the 4th of April 2041. ( Jeff is 33, Lucille is 32, and Virgil is eight months old).
The video started with everyone sitting at the dining table. Scott was sitting on his knees on the chair, Grandma Tracy had Virgil sitting on her lap, and Lucille carried out the birthday cake. When the cake was being carried out to Scott, everyone sang happy Birthday. When the cake was in front of Scott, everyone stopped singing, and Scott blew out the candles. Everyone started cheering and clapping for Scott, and Scott had a big smile. Scott climbed out of the chair, walked over to the couch, and sat on the floor with his back up against the sofa. When Scott left the table, Lucille started cutting the cake into tiny pieces for everyone to eat, and the video ended.
The video started again with Scott lying on the floor in the middle of the lounge room. Jeff panned the camera up to show grandma and grandpa Tracy sitting on the couch. Lucille walked into the room and sat down on the sofa too.
" He went down, okay? Grandma Tracy asked.
" He finally went down after 4 minutes", Lucille answered.
" Yeah, Scotty shows us what present you got", Grandpa said while looking at Scott.
Scott turned around to look at Grandpa Tracy, then looked over at the corner of the room and pointed at the present.
Lucille stood up, walked over to the present, picked them up, and carried them over to Scott. Lucille placed the presents on the floor next to Scott, and Lucille sat down next to Scott and handed him a present. Scott held up a remote control fire truck toy to Jeff, and the camera placed it back on the floor. The next present was a walkie-talkie, and one was an apollo 11 plush toy. The video ended.
The video started again. This time Jeff was on the floor with Scott sitting on his lap. Jeff controlled the fire truck, and Scott was laughing at something out of frame. The camera person panned over to show what Scott was laughing at. When the camera panned and did, it showed Shadow barking at the toy and chasing it around the room. The person holding the camera sat on the floor next to Jeff and Scott and had the camera facing Shadow. The fire truck stopped, and Shadow walked up to the toy and sniffed it. Shadow left the toy, walked over to Jeff and Scott, and sat in front of them. The video ended, and the screen went black.
The TV still had a black screen, and all the boys were slighted.
" Where were we living when that video was filmed? Alan asked out loud.
" We were living in Kansas. I think dad and mum brought the house around 2034 or 2035. Virgil answered.
" Who was Shadow? I didn't remember him", Alan asked.
" Shadow was dad's wolf-dog. He had a dark-grey coat with black fur on all his legs", Scott answered.
John's 4th Birthday is the 28th of October 2045. ( Jeff is 37 years, Lucille is 36, Scott is six, Virgil is five, Gordon is two, and Alan is one year old).
The tape started with Alan trying to walk toward Lucille; an arm was distended away from him.
" Come, Honey come to mummy", Lucille said while her arms out in front of her and looking at Alan.
Alan slowly stood up and took two steps before falling back onto his butt.
" Come here, sweetie", Lucille said to Alan.
Alan just crawled over to Lucille and sat in her lap.
The footage stopped and started again. This time we were in the kitchen where Grandma Tracy, Scott and Virgil were helping Grandma Tracy to decorate John's birthday cake. Scott was putting the cake icing on the chocolate cake. When Scott finished, Virgil was next to put some hundreds and thousands and placed the candles on the cake with the help of Grandma Tracy.
"Okay, boys, time to give John his cake", Grandma Tracy said to Scott and Virgil.
Scott and Virgil run out of the room and past Jeff, filming them. Grandma Tracy picked up the cake and carried it to the dining room. Grandma Tracy walked out in front of Jeff, and Jeff followed behind her. Everyone in the room began singing Happy Birthday, and Grandma Tracy placed the cake in front of John. When the cake touched the table, everyone finished singing, and John blew out the candles.
The video ended and started again. This time everyone that came to the party had left. Jeff was in the lounge room with Scott, Virgil, John and Gordon. The girls were doing things in the kitchen, and Lucille had put Alan to sleep. Jeff was sitting down on the couch, and the boys were all down, sitting on the floor looking at John's presents.
" John shows dad what you could from your birthday", Jeff asks while looking at John.
John looked at Jeff, grabbed a present, and moved closer to Jeff. John held over the first present to Jeff.
" Thank you, John", Jeff said while turning the present to face the camera.
The first present was a Dr Seuss collection of books with all books. Jeff placed the books next to him, and John returned with the second present. John handed it to Jeff and moved away again. The second present was a dinosaur puzzle, and it came with a t-rex plush toy. Next, John comes over with the three presents. The three present was a Thomas the tank engine train set. John had to push the four presents over to Jeff. Jeff stood up, walked to the dining table, and showed the four presents. The four present was a lego space shuttle Jeff brought him and the boys to do together. When Jeff turned around to look back at the boys and the video stop.
When the tv went black, John and Alan started looking through the boxes again.
" Oh my god. I found a video before we were all born", John said while changing the videos.
Shadow's First Birthday 1st of September 2030. ( Jeff is 21 years old, and Lucille is 20 years old.)
The video started in the lounge room with Lucille sitting on the floor in the middle of the room. Jeff was holding the camera and got down on the floor in front of Lucille. When he did, a slight head peeked out behind Lucille.
" Shadow came here", Jeff said while holding his right hand.
Shadow went behind Lucille again. But Lucille grabbed Shadow's favourite toys. Lucille was moving the toy on the floor, and Shadow jumped on it, held it in his mouth and started playing wag of war with Lucille.
" Get Shadow to get", Jeff said from behind the camera.
" Why are you cheering him on, Jeff," Lucille said, trying her best to keep the toy.
Jeff moved behind Lucille, seeing his hand slowly moving closer to Lucille's hair. Lucille pulled the toy back, her hair touched Jeff's hands, and she jumped, letting go of the toy.
" Cheater", Lucille said while touching where Jeff's hand had touched her.
Jeff tried not to laugh, and Lucille turned around to look at him. However, when Lucille looked at Jeff, she had an angry look.
" You help him win, Jeff", Lucille said while pointing her figure at him.
"He won on his own without my help", Jeff said from behind the camera.
" Okay, you wag of war with him, and I will film. You are losing to Shadow", Lucille answered.
" Fine", Jeff answered and held the camera over to Lucille.
Jeff came into frame and got down on the floor next to Shadow. Shadow was chewing the toy, and Jeff grabbed it. When Jeff pulled the toy away from Shadow. Shadow jumped to his feet and moved closer to Jeff. The video ended.
The tv screen went black again when the video stopped.
" Shadow was a good boy", Scott said while patting Snowy.
" He taught Snowy how to behave around people and inside the house, too", Virgil answered while looking over at Snowy and Scott.
" What's this one? Alan asked while pulling a DVD out of the boxes.
" What does it have written on it? Gordon asked Alan.
" It says Gran Roca Ranch Holiday", Alan answered while looking confused.
John, Virgil and Scott all looked at each with a big smile.
" Don't know, put it on", Gordon said while looking at Alan.
Gran Roca Ranch Holiday. ( 10-15 of January 2046. Jeff is 38 years old, Lucille is 37 years old, Scott is seven years old, Virgil is six years old, John is five years old, Gordon is three years old, and Alan is two years old. This video was filmed six months before Lucille's accident on the 10th of July. 2046.)
The video started outside of the ranch. You could see that all boys were waiting outside of a horse pen. Jeff moved closed, and you could see that Lucille was inside the horse pen with her horse named Lady.
" Okay, Jeff let Scott and Virgil inside the pen", Lucille said while watching Lady.
Virgil and Scott walked in pen and walked toward Lucille. Jeff followed behind the boys and left John, Gordon and Alan outside the enclosure with Grandma Tracy. Virgil, Scott and Jeff reached where Lucille was with the horse.
" Right, Jeff waits until I am on the horse and help Virgil and Scott get on the horse", Lucille said while placing her foot into the left stirrup and pushing herself up onto the saddle.
" Right, I am ready", Lucille said while sitting in the saddle.
Jeff placed the camera down on the ground next to him. Jeff picked up Scott and placed him in Lucille's arms. Lucille put Scott in front of her. Then Jeff picked up Virgil and placed him on the back of the saddle behind Lucille. Jeff picked up the camera and filmed them. They went around the holding pen three times, and Lucille helped them. Virgil and Scott walked out of the cell, and John and Gordon walked in to have their turn. Jeff placed the camera on the ground and lifted John on the horse. Gordon was sitting in front of Lucille, and John was behind Lucille. They went around the pen three times and stopped. Lucille helps both boys down off the Lady. The video ended.
The video started again, this time inside in the lounge room. John, Virgil and Scott were playing Uno. John had six cards, Virgil had nine cards, and Scott had four cards left. They had been playing for 5 minutes.
" What you boys doing? Jeff asked, sitting down in the chair.
" We are teaching John how to play Uno", Scott answered.
" That's why this round has been going so long", Virgil said to Jeff.
" Shadow keeps trying to get us to play tag of war with him", John said while looking over at Shadow.
Shadow walked into the frame and stood in the middle of the boys.
" Shadow moved. We are playing Uno where", Scott said while picking up two cards.
Shadow looked at each boy and then looked at Jeff. Finally, Shadow laid down on the deck of cards, and Jeff laughed.
" Dad, please get him to move", Scott said while looking at Jeff.
" Shadow came here, boy", Jeff said.
When Shadow stood up, his back right foot was standing on the deck of cards, and when he moved, the cards went everywhere. The video ended.
The tv screen went black.
