Chapter 2
Kaguya Otsutsuki, the progenitor of chakra and the goddess that gave birth to the Sage of the Sixth Paths, along with Black Zetsu, has finally been defeated despite her near limitless power and our own dwindling chakra reserves. It was a gruelling battle for us to earn the peace that our Nations rightfully deserved. We let our guard down believing that everything is over. It turns out, that was a big mistake.
"Urk…" I groaned as I was beginning to wake up. "My head hurts…"
"Took you long enough, loser." A familiar voice spoke.
"Wait! That voice!" My eyes shot open and he stood up on my feet almost instantly.
My eyes immediately recognized that it was the same place that Sennin no Ojichan and I first talked. He was there just like before, but there was another person with us. It was my former teammate, the shinobi I considered my brother despite his betrayal. He was the same shinobi who abandoned the village long ago, but now, for some reason, had a change of heart.
"Sasuke? What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"I think he would do a better job of explaining it." Sasuke told me in his normal tone.
Hagoromo cleared his throat. "I am glad you could join us, Naruto."
"Sennin no Ojichan, what's going on?" I inquired wanting to know about the situation.
"First, things first I would like to congratulate you for winning the war. You have successfully sealed my mother away and have brought peace to the entire shinobi world."
"Hn," Sasuke mearly grunted.
"That's great!" I exclaimed after hearing the news. "But, if we won, what are we doing here?"
"That's actually the next thing I have to tell you," The sage's voice turned somber all of a sudden. "You didn't survive the visitor's attack."
"Don't tell me we–"
I didn't need to finish my statement. It all hit me like a splash of cold water. Sasuke was not surprised at all. It was like he already accepted what happened or was already told about this earlier. All my hopes and dreams were shattered. It was funny, though. I trained all my life just to get to this point, only for them to get shot down just because a stupid visitor from another land.
"I'm sorry, Naruto." It was all the Sage could say.
"B-but, how did this happen?" I asked trying to move on from what Hagoromo had said.
"If you could remember after the battle, briefly after you sealed my mother, you fought an unexpected visitor just before we summoned you back to the Elemental Nations." Hagoromo explained.
Flashes of a battle appeared in my mind as I remembered who the Rikudou Sennin was talking about, if you could call that a battle.
I frowned. "No, that wasn't a fight. He mopped the floor with us. We didn't even stand a chance after our power ups were gone. Who was he anyway?"
"I believe I can answer your question." Another voice joined us in my mindscape.
A child joined us. She had very long, wavy, yellow-blonde hair that reaches down to her feet with a single lock pointing upwards. Her eyes were large and green had no irises. She was wearing a frilly, pink layered robe with a red ribbon tied in a bow around her neck. Around the chest were three blue diamond patterns with two blue triangles. On her ears were wing-like adornments and small hoop earrings. Also, for some reason, she was barefoot.
"Who's the shrimp?" I asked the Sage.
Suddenly, the child's confident demeanour disappeared. Tears began falling from her eyes and sniffles echoed through the walls of my mindscape.
"I-I know I'm small, but you don't have to rub in. I-I didn't want this to happen. " The girl mumbled to herself as she wept.
"Oi oi oi, why are you crying?" I asked as I tried my best to console the little girl. "All I did was call you shrimp. I mean you are small after all."
"Idiot," Sasuke said.
I turned to Sasuke, "You looking for a fight, huh Sasuke?"
"No, since we both know that you won't land a single hit on me." My old friend said.
"Why you–"
I was about punch Sasuke to prove him wrong, but the little girl's sniffling quickly turned to wailing as the child mourned her short stature.
I ran back to her to stop her from crying. "Come on, don't cry little girl. I didn't mean it. I'm sorry. Come on!" I profusely apologized to get her to stop crying.
I turned to the Sage. "Oi, Sennin no Ojichan, Sasuke! Help me stop her from crying!"
"This is on you, loser." Sasuke said as he turned away.
The Sage sighed. "Sometimes you go too far, Naruto. That's enough now, Mavis. Thank you for coming."
As soon as he heard him, the girl named Mavis wiped her tears and recomposed herself. She cleared her throat and introduced herself. "My name is Mavis Vermillion, and as you can guess I am not from around here."
It took a few minutes for Mavis to explain everything about the mystery man that attacked us. It was actually a long story that took years. She told us stuff about magic and guilds. Y'know I didn't even listen that much once I got bored in the middle. But I did listen to the important parts.
Here's what I got from her explanation:
Her friend got cursed because he played with life or something like that. That curse made him immortal and things would die all around him. Because of this, he wanted to die. In order to do this, he created demons. But things didn't go well for him. He was able to live for thousands of years. This prompted him to reject the world that rejected him and destroy it.
"So, that's the whole story." Mavis took a deep breath as she finished her whole story. "Do you have any questions?"
"What's that got to do with me?" I asked.
"For once, I agree with the loser," Sasuke said. "Why did we have to wait here?"
"Naruto, Sasuke after you died, this visitor was able to open portals to spill his whole army into the Elemental Nations." Hagoromo explained.
"And without the shinobi to fight back…" My voice trailed off.
"I believe with the power he has gained right now, your current troops who are slumbering won't be enough to fend off his army right now." Mavis said.
"Do not underestimate us shinobi. We might just surprise you." I told her.
Mavis shook her head. "They might be able to handle the foot soldiers, but what about his generals? What are you going to do about them?"
"I'm sorry, Naruto, but there is nothing we can do. The best the Hokage can do is slow them down. The shinobi simply cannot fight back in their current state." Hagoromo said.
"So, what are we going to do? Just leave them there?" Naruto asked when he realized what they were insinuating.
Mavis and Hagoromo shook their heads.
"Dammit," My fist tightened as I lamented the fate of my friends.
"I'm sorry, oniichan." Sasuke muttered under his breath. "I wasn't able to protect the village after all.
I didn't notice it at the time, but Mavis expression changed. It was like gears were grinding in her head thinking of what to tell as next.
"I believe it's time to tell you why I am here." The little girl finally said. "I have something to offer you."
We both met her gaze.
"I want to offer you a new life." She continued.
"Wh-what do you mean? Can't you just bring us back to our old bodies?" I asked.
Hagoromo shook his head. "That would be a violation of the laws of life and death."
"And this isn't?" Sasuke asked.
"No, think of this as reincarnation." Mavis explained.
"I see."
We were silent for a few seconds. We thought about the choice of a new life and the new possibilities we could have. Well that was for me, personally. I don't know about Sasuke, but this is a chance to live life again without being rejected by the whole world. I could live without watching my back if any of those villagers would come from behind me when I'm not looking.
Sasuke was the first to voice his thoughts. "I'm sorry, but I would like to join my family in the afterlife, instead."
"Sasuke," I said. "Why?"
"I have no reason to live in a world without my family. The reason why I wanted to be Hokage was because I wanted to change the twisted world that led to our circumstances. Now, that I have died, I prefer to join my family, especially now that I know their true feelings." Sasuke explained.
"Are you sure about this?" The Sage asked.
"I am positive." Sasuke answered.
"B-but–"
Naturally, I tried to protest, but Sasuke cut me off before I could voice my concern.
"Naruto, I am sorry for all the pain that I caused you and Sakura. I admit that I let hatred lead my life. I didn't try to understand that you were only looking out for me, because that was what friends do, right?"
That surprised me. I have been trying for so long to get him to understand that, but when everything was over I think I got through to him.
"You told me before that you were jealous of me. In truth, I was jealous of you too. We were both outcasts of the village, so somehow I felt relieved. But, the difference was you were always headstrong, while I saw it as a weakness. I trained hard to escape that weakness. As we grew did all those missions together and get stronger together, I started to see the team as my family. So, whenever I saw you suffering, I felt your pain too. That was when I considered you my comrade. All along I thought you were an idiot, but over time I saw you become stronger, stronger even than me. It was like I was looking at Nii-chan all over again, always walking in front of me."
Sasuke took a deep breath to fight the tears that were threatening to fall from his eyes for the first time for a long time.
"What are you talking about, Sasuke?" I asked him not really understanding what he was getting at.
"I acknowledge you, Naruto. Thank you for everything. I hope you accept my apology." He extended his hand towards me.
I certainly was at a loss of words. But couldn't stay shocked for long because I knew Sasuke was waiting for a response.
I grabbed Sasuke's hand and gave him a firm handshake.
Once our handshake broke, he turned to Hagoromo and Mavis and said, "I am ready to rejoin my family."
I watched as the Sage touch him with his staff. After that, Sasuke was enveloped by a blue light before his spirit was lifted up into the air.
Now, it was my turn.
"So, about this new life…" I began. "Will I be given a new identity or will I continue the way I am now?"
"You will arrive there the way you are now. You will retain the abilities and jutsu you currently have. And you may learn more new abilities you desire." Mavis explained.
I went back to my earlier thoughts and came to a decision. But first…
"I gotta say, I do wanna live my life without them treating me like a demon. But, is it possible for me to meet my parents?" I asked.
"I don't see why not." Hagoromo said. He closed his eyes. I watched as two blue lights formed in front of us. Before I knew it, my parents were right in front of me.
"Oh my god…" my mom said as tears welled from the sides of her eyes. My dad stood beside her shocked to see Naruto here.
"Hey mom, I know yo–" Mom didn't let him finish what he was saying. She immediately wrapped me in a tight hug. I tried to be strong in front of them, but I was failing miserably.
"I didn't expect to see you soon…" Mom comforted me as she stroked my hair.
"I'm sorry, mom, dad. I didn't even get to become Hokage…" I apologized.
"It's okay. You tried your best. That's all that matters." They didn't even get mad. They were just happy to see me.
"Mom, Dad," I began. "You see, Mavis here has an offer for me to live a new life." I explained.
They turned to see the others. "Oh, Rikuddo Sennin-sama and you must be Mavis-sama. Thank you for giving Naruto another chance to live another life, a life that we couldn't give him…" They bowed in gratitude.
"It is our pleasure. Take your time catching up and saying your goodbyes" Hagoromo said.
"So, another life, huh?" Mom commented.
I nodded my head. "I lived a rough life here, but I want you to know that I don't blame you. I just want to see the world in a different light from what I have grown up with."
"That is great, dear. As your parents, it is our job to support your decisions." My mom told me.
"All we ask is that you be safe and live your life to the fullest." Dad added.
That was the breaking point. I couldn't hold back my tears as I said my final goodbyes. "I want you to know that I'm eating a lot and doing fine! I'm not a picky eater. I eat miso, tonkatsu and shoyu ramen. Ah ah! I don't only eat ramen, I swear! I shower almost every day and sometimes I went to the Konoha Hotsprings, too!"
I pause so I could let out a sniffle and wipe my tear, though more came out after.
"Oh, yeah! I made lots of friends. They're all good guys. I even managed to make up with Sasuke earlier. And…I didn't really do well in my studies, but it never got me down… I did listen to Lord Third, Kakashi-sensei and even with Ero-Sennin. I respect them a lot too! Speaking of Ero-sennin, he always preached about the three prohibitions. I learned a lot about them from him. He was really hopeless when it came to them, but I think he's the coolest. I don't care for alcohol and gambling, so I saved a lot of my money. And about women…"
My voice trailed off, but I quickly continued.
"I really didn't have much luck with that, but I promise to find one as great as you, mom! Anyway, not everything you told me went well, but I will try harder in the next one."
"Oh, Minato," My mom said as I finished. "Our words had reached our baby boy." Once again mom wrapped me in another warm embrace.
Dad smiled as he watched everything unfold. Once we unwrapped, it was his turn to say goodbye.
"I'm not much of a talker, so I wasn't able to tell you this the first time we met, and I greatly regret that. Now, I am thankful that I am able to say this to you. I am proud of all that you have accomplished however little you may think they are. I know it's not much, but I want you to inherit my jutsu." He said with a smile. He produced a scroll and gave it to me.
"If your dad's giving you something, then I'm giving you something too." Mom moved forward and kissed me on the forehead. "It's my signature chakra chains that I used to supress Kurama. I know you can't use it now since I hear you two are friends now, but I'm sure you will find some use for it there."
"Thank you so much, and I love you so much!" I said with a sad smile.
Mom and Dad gave one final wave as they stepped back. They smiled as they returned my words to them. Soon after, their spirits returned to the afterlife.
I looked towards the sage, ready to live his new life, and said. "Sennin no Ojichan, Mavis-chan, I am ready."
"One last thing before you go," The Sage said. "I have a parting gift for you, as thanks for sealing my mother."
He touched his the way The Sage did to Sasuke. I felt energy enter me as he did that.
"It would aid you in your journey as you walk through your new life." He said.
"Thank you, Sennin no Ojichan," I bowed in gratitude. "I appreciate it."
"Now that everything is in order, let us send you to your new life." Mavis walked forward and touched me on my chest. I was enveloped in a warm bright light taking me away to an unknown.
When I was gone, The Sage spoke up, "Is it okay to not tell him why you have summoned him to your world?"
Mavis nodded. "He has lived a tough life here. I want him to enjoy his life there before his role is revealed to him.
"I suppose that is fair."
AN UNKNOWN LOCATION
It wasn't a bad trip to this location. At first, I felt weightless. I didn't see where I was going since the light blinded me as I was whisked away to god knows where. A minute later, I felt the weight return to my body. A headache plagued me as I was thrust back to the land of the living.
Once I landed, I stretched
But then, I realized something…
"AHHHH! I FORGOT TO ASK WHERE THEY WERE SENDING ME!"I screamed as I berated myself for forgetting to ask about such an important detail.
"WILL YOU STOP SCREAMING?!" I looked around looking for where the voice came from, but I didn't see who spoke. CAN'T A BIJŪ RECOVER IN PEACE?!"
There it was again, but this time I realized it was coming from my own mindscape. I entered it to see whoever it was. I was surprised to see nine towering figures stood around me forming a circle.
"Don't mind Shukaku, Naruto." Gyuki said. "He's just cranky from the headache we all are feeling."
"Wait, you guys get headaches too?" I asked.
"We rarely get them, gaki." Matatabi explained. "It's just that the way we traveled somehow affected us too."
"And when we do get them, they are colossal." Kokuō added.
"So, hold off on the yelling for a while, will ya Naruto?" Son Goku pleaded.
"Sorry about that," I scratched the back of my head as I apologized, the way I usually do. "What are you doing here? You don't feel like just a portion of yourselves."
"Pops sent us to help you here, Naruto!" Isobu answered.
"And that's not all…" Kurama's voice trailed off as he channelled chakra through my body.
For a moment, my body flickered. My clothes changed into a white, full-length kimono with a pattern of six black magatama around a high collar in the front and a black Rinnegan marking with a pattern of nine magatama arranged in three rows of three beneath it at the back. On my right hand appeared a black staff similar to the one the Sage had. Behind me floated nine orbs that formed a circle. My eyes glowed red as three tomoe rotated on my irises.
The form only lasted for a second before reverting back to my old appearance.
"Sennin no Ojisan trusted me with this much power?" I asked my friends in the mindscape.
"Pops trusts that you won't get corrupted by power, unlike his mother," Kokuō explained.
"And we are here to guide you through the use of this power," Chomei added.
"Gee, thanks guys." I showed my gratitude to them. "Anyway, I'll leave you now to rest. See ya later!"
I cut my connection from my mindscape, returning me to the physical world. A lot of my questions are still yet to be answered. Without anyone around to ask, I decided to look around.
The first thing I confirmed was I was on an island in the middle of nowhere. At any point on the island, I could see a massive tree growing from what I figured was the center. There was lush vegetation everywhere; their colors ranging from yellow to green. There were two peculiar rock formations that possessed large formations jutting outward from the ground. Other than strange large animals populating the island, there weren't any other humans.
That is until I found a library of sorts.
I heard the voice of the little girl again. The same one who spoke with me and the Rikudō Sennin. "I commend you for finding this place all on your own."
"Yeah, I normally am terrible with directions, it was lucky that I stumbled through this place." I answered. "So, tell me where exactly are we?"
"You are in Tenrou Island, my home…"
A/N: Hey I've been wanting to write a Naruto/Fairy Tail crossover for a while now. The reason is that as I was browsing through the stories available for this particular crossover, the stories are either ongoing but take too long to update or are abandoned completely. So, I've been building the story in my mind as I continually watched the Fairy Tail anime. And now, I believe is a good time to put my thoughts in a story format.
I don't know how working on two fics would affect me, but forgive me if I do write horribly. I am an amateur writer after all and I only do this as a pastime. So I apologize in advance if you find my story horrible, cause chances are I may feel the same way.
Thanks for reading! See you in the next chapter or if you read my other story, see you there!
PS: Quick question, should we make Naruto more OP by giving him some magic? And what magic should we give him?
