Hello, fellow Mobians. Centurion Maximo here and welcome back to Sonic: Invasion. I hope you all liked the prologue of this new story. I know it was a short one, but I'm still getting the hang of doing prologues. Now, at the end of the prologue, a strange meteor was streaking towards Mobius.

Now, I'm gonna be tweaking some characters for the purposes of this story. I hope people don't mind that as it's for the sake of this story.

Now, let's officially start this off!

*Rocky Jungle Zone. Moss's Home. 5:00 am*

Moss was enjoying a cup of tea with Mighty and Ray who stayed with him when suddenly he lurched forward as if he was in pain. His eyes opened a little too quickly and he dropped the teacup which shattered upon contact with the floor. He grasped his chest instinctually as he fell to his knees.

"Master Moss!" Mighty shouted running to the sloth, Ray very close behind. The two helped Moss to a chair for him to sit in. Just then, a gray and brown striped Racoon ran in with a new teacup.

"Thank you, Neil." Moss nodded his head as he started drinking the tea and began to calm down.

"What's wrong, Master?" Neil asked in concern.

"I-I feel a disturbance in Mobius's spiritual energy. I… I feel something terrible is impending."

*Meropis. Great Blue Realm. Coral's Temple. 5:00 am*

Coral was in her temple with Pearly looking after the Chao when she dropped to the ground. "Coral!" Pearly shouted.

"I-I'm fine, Pearly, I think." Coral sheepishly tried to reassure her friend.

"What happened to you just now?" Pearly asked in concern.

"I'm not really sure. I just suddenly felt off." Coral tried to explain.

*Angel Island. Tikal. Within the Master Emerald. 5:00 am*

Tikal screamed in pain as she felt the same thing Moss and Coral did. When this feeling ended, she fell to her knees, panting heavily. "What was that?" She asked herself.

*Sand Hill Zone. Meteor Crater. 5:00 am*

The meteor was still plenty hot and steam was still burning off it. However, There was a bit of noise coming from within it. Suddenly, part of the meteor exploded and a brown, beige, and orange worm-like creature with red eyes and sharp teeth slithered out of it. Once outside, the strange creature borrowed it's way into the ground of Sand Hill Zone.

*Sky Patrol. Main Lobby. Tails. 6:30 am*

It wasn't even forty minutes and Tails was already at work as his computer detected the meteor's impact on Mobius. "Interesting."

"What's up, Tails?" Sonic asked, walking in.

"A meteor hit Mobius last night in Sand Hill Zone. I'm looking at it right now." Tails answered, showing the picture of it to Sonic.

"Doesn't G.U.N have that place closed up right about now?" Sonic asked. "They probably have a cover story by now."

"Not to me." Tails smirked. "You know even G.U.N systems aren't a match for me."

"True that." Sonic chuckled. "You know, we went through a lot two years ago, buddy."

"Yeah. We did it, though. A part of me still wonders however, how some of the Egg bosses are doing in G.U.N's Supermax Prison." Tails brought a hand to his chin.

"Such as?" Sonic was gaining a little bit of interest.

"Clove and her sister, Cassia." Tails answered.

"Oh, yeah. Bunnie mentioned Cassia. I feel sorry for them, actually. No way to cure Cassia and Clove was forced to work for Eggman just for a treatment that wouldn't help her get better." Sonic said with a hint of sadness.

"Just goes to show you how Eggman will do anything to get what he wants." Tails reminded.

"Yep. We haven't seen him since the world got put back together." Sonic put his hand to his chin.

"Maybe he's just biding his time. He's good at that." Tails reminded. Sonic nodded in complete agreement.

*Sand Hill Zone. Underneath Meteor Crater. 6:34 am*

The worm-like creature was still burrowing through. Like it had a purpose. It was constantly scanning the dirt it was burrowing through. However, when it reached a certain point, it stopped and began forming something. It took a few minutes, but ultimately, it looked like a foundation for a future structure.

*Sand Hill Zone. Meteor Crater. G.U.N Encampment. 7:12 am*

"It's been quiet so far, sir." A G.U.N soldier informed. "Not a single movement from the meteor in any form."

"I see." Commander Tower replied on the comm. "Remain on guard. There's no telling if anything is present within the meteor. If there is, try to capture unless you have to bring it down."

"Yes, sir." The G.U.N soldier acknowledged. As soon as the communication ended, a small amount of rumbling began beneath his feet. Suddenly, the same creature jumped out of the ground and proceeded to consume the G.U.N soldier. The other soldiers saw this and were wide-eyed and jaw dropped as they saw blood protruding from all over the newly made corpse. They immediately opened fire, but their shots just bounced off the creature as it just ran up to the other soldiers and all that was heard was their screams of terror. Then, minutes later, there was nothing but cold, dead silence.

*Angel Island. Knuckles. 7:23 am*

Knuckles was continuing to keep watch over the Master Emerald. He could sense there was something wrong. He too, felt something was wrong, but not as much as Tikal. "Something's gonna happen…" He said darkly.

*Green Hill Zone. Sky Patrol. Main Lobby. 9:00 am*

Everyone was going about their business when Sally ran in. "Sally! What's wrong?!" Sonic asked in pure concern.

"The G.U.N. encampment in Sand Hill Zone was attacked!' Sally screamed.

"What?!" Everyone exclaimed/ Tails went onto his computer to look into that. Seconds later, he was terrified at what he laid his eyes upon.

"Guys… The soldiers were killed, violently." Tails shuddered as he brought the images up on the main screen. Needless to say, they couldn't believe what they were seeing: The soldiers looked to be mauled and ripped to utter shreds. Dried blood was pooled all over the corpses, pieces of said corpses were found missing, and on a couple of them, bones were sticking out.

"Oh, god…" Amy shuddered.

"Who or what could do that to a whole platoon of G.U.N soldiers?" Sally asked, trying not to vomit from the sight.

Suddenly, Mighty and Ray contacted the group on the screen, splitting it into two. "Mighty? Ray? What's going on?" Sonic asked.

"Moss fell over, saying there's something wrong with Mobius's spiritual energy!" Ray exclaimed.

"What?" Rotor asked, a little confused. "Could that have to do with what we're reading about what happened in Sand Hill?"

"There's ze possibility." Antoine voiced.

"Is Moss doin okay?" Bunnie asked in concern.

"He's fine right now, but who knows how fast that will change." Mighty responded.

"Thanks for letting us know." Sally said. "We'll check up on you if you want."

"That would be good." Ray cut in before the commlink shut down.

"Do you guys think this has something to do with what we just saw in Sand Hill?" Amy asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It's too early to tell." Rotor answered.

*Spagonia. Professor Pickle's Laboratory. 10:10 am*

Uncle Chuck, Professor Pickle, and Ben Muttski were reading about what happened in Sand Hill Zone and like with the crew of the Sky Patrol, they were shocked. "Oh, dear goodness!" Professor Pickle shouted "Who would do something like this?"

"This is scary!" Ben screamed as he ran behind Professor Pickle.

Uncle Chuck however was just staring in shock, anger, and most of all, fear. He was starting to sweat profusely, his pupils had shrunk looking at the images.

"Charles? Are you alright?" Professor Pickle asked in concern.

"Y-Yes. I-I'm fine." Chuck reassured, but he was lying straight to his friend's face as he looked back at the images. Multiple things were going on in his head along with multiple emotions. "Excuse me, my friend. I need some air." Chuck walked out as casually as he could. Once outside, he slumped against a wall, trying not to focus on what he saw. "What could this mean?"

Hello, everyone. I hope everyone liked the first chapter of Sonic: Invasion. Something seems to have emerged from the meteor and proceeds to slaughter the G.U.N soldiers. What could this be a prelude to? In various zones, Moss, Coral, and Tikal feel a disturbance in Mobius's spiritual energy. Now, as I brought up, this story will feature original characters and original zones. Anyway, Sonic & company have seen images of the slaughter and are rightfully disgusted. In Spagonia, Professor Pickle, Ben Muttski, and Uncle Chuck have seen the same thing, resulting in Chuck freaking out a little.

PS: One of the things I don't like about Sonic games post Sonic Unleashed is that the Sonic team seemed to have omitted the Chaos Emeralds and therefore, the Super Sonic concept as a whole as Sonic: Colors, Sonic: Lost World, and Sonic: Forces never even mention the Chaos Emeralds. Where were they the whole time? Sonic: Generations and Sonic: Mania are the exceptions.
