Chapter 5

"Lisanna, no!" A white-haired wizard in punk-style clothing yelled.

"No, sis! Where are you going?" Another wizard with a white bowl cut yelled.

They watched in horror as third member of their group's form flickered. They watched in horror as the form gradually turned ethereal and broke apart rising into the air. The one in punk-style clothes could only slowly raise her arm as she was injured somehow. The other scrambled to grab the ghostly form of their companion in a futile effort to keep her with them, but it was all for naught.

When her form was completely dissipated, the two remaining wizards were frozen in shock about what had happened. In one moment, everything was fine, and in the next thing they knew, thunder boomed overhead and the sky ripped apart. And that was when everything happened.

The clouds above seemed to respond to their emotions as more thunder boomed in the sky the same moment tear began to well in their eyes.

As lightning flashed in the sky and rain began to pour, the two seemed to return to their senses and realize their predicament.

The two of them synced and screamed in unison, "Lisannaaaaaaaa!"

A white-haired young woman woke up with a start. She nursed her head and she didn't even realize her face was wet. The tears streamed from her eyes as she thought of the dreams she had.

"Not again," She thought. "Why won't they stop?"

She sat there pondering on her nightmares, but she couldn't stay there for long. She remembered the she still had work to do. She couldn't stay like this. It is not what her sister would have wanted.

And so, she clapped her cheeks bringing her back to reality despite the phantom ache she still feels inside. She stepped into the shower to wash away the tears and sleep from her eyes, and after that got dressed.

She looked at herself in the mirror and examined herself in the mirror.

Her hair flowed down to her lower back and two bangs framed each side of her face reaching up to her chest. A small tuft of her hair was tied into an upward ponytail completing her hairstyle. She was extremely beautiful, but she wouldn't admit that, which was complemented by her large blue eyes and voluptuous figure.

She was wearing a sleeveless, ankle-length maroon dress with a pleated skirt. The chest area was adorned by a pink bow with pink trimmings framing her ample neckline, acting like straps and circling around her waist. Completing her outfit, she matched her dress with similarly colored shoes and a small chain necklace with a blue oval gem attached to it.

"Now, there," She said as she placed the finishing touches on her outfit. "Perfect…"

She tried for a smile, but it was briefly replaced by a look of melancholy.

"Lisanna," She spoke to her reflection in the mirror. "I wish I could see you grow up like this…"

She quickly shook that thought out of her head.

She picked a basket and yelled out, "Elfman! I'm going on ahead! I still have to go to the market!"

"Sure thing, sis!" A deep voice echoed back. "I'll see you at the guildhall!"

With that over, the white-haired wizard left the house and ran her errands for the day.

FAIRY TAIL GUILDHALL

It was just another normal day at the market. As usual, a lot of her fans scrambled to get her to sign a variety of stuff. There were a lot of different stuff like their copy of Sorcerer Weekly, a piece of vegetable, their own bodies. Yeah, the normal stuff.

Some even gave her a rectangular box with a not so subtle wink. She tried opening one of them once, but she never knew what to do with that eggplant shaped rod. She didn't know. No one even explained that stuff to her. That wink didn't help at all.

Anyway, it wasn't too hard to believe that even in the town she lived in, there were a lot of her fans that went crazy over her presence.

Despite the interruptions, her shopping at the market went on without a hitch. A lot of men offered to help her carry her luggage, though she politely refused them since she could handle that on her own. And so, with her shopping done, she made her way to the guild.

She had gotten used to this usual routine every day. When she needed to, she went to the market to buy supplies for the guild bar or for her and her sibling's house or she would go to the guild early to set up the bar before anyone else arrived. She had gotten used to her everyday life that it was like clockwork. But as soon as she neared the guildhall, she was surprised to see a couple of new faces (at the guild that is) with one of the two faces she knew all her life.

At the guild's doorway, the familiar face of a blonde male with the distinct whiskered face who was calming down a lady with long blonde hair that looked familiar for some reason. The blonde girl, she knew she didn't see before, but the male brought her flashes of a rampaging beast, her younger self injured and helpless, and a blonde with a warm smile that she was pretty sure she was mean to. Then, the memory of the man's name hit her.

"Naruto? Is that you?" she said as the name registered in her mind.

The two blondes to turn and look at her. The lady had stars in her eyes as soon as she saw her, while the man had a look of confusion on his face.

"Uhh…" he wracked his mind trying to remember where she saw the white-haired beauty. In the end, he gave up and asked, "Have we met before?"

"Are you for real?" The blonde lady looked at the whiskered blonde in surprise. "You don't know THE Mirajane Strauss."

"Wait…" The look of confusion turned to shock as the images of a petite teen in punk clothes registered in his mind. "Mirajane? I didn't recognize you. Man, you've changed a lot."

"No, silly. I didn't change that much," The white-haired lady, named Mirajane waved the blonde off. "And people around here call me Mira."

"Are you kidding?" Naruto countered. "You look way different from before."

It was the girl's turn to be surprised. "Wait… You know Mirajane?"

"Yeah, we had a run-in when I was last here," Naruto explained. "Had to lend them a hand for a while."

He then turned to Mirajane, "Which reminds me… How are your siblings? Can he control his magic now? And did Lisanna change as much as you?"

That last part made the mood drop all of a sudden. The jovial expression disappeared from the white-haired mage's face.

Sensing he touched a sore subject; Naruto was quick to apologize. "I-I'm sorry. Was it something I said?"

"I-is something the matter?" Lucy asked.

"Lisanna disappeared not long after you left," stated Mira as she struggled to hold in her tears, the thought of her nightmares returning.

Naruto only grew to shock, "But you said everything was okay."

He balled his hands into a fist. He felt like all that training and all the gifts the Rikuddo Sennin gave him were useless if he couldn't use them.

But then, Mira tried to stay strong. She pushed her feelings to the side and tried for a smile. "It's okay, Naruto. I'm the one who sent you away."

"Are you sure?" Naruto asked. He really made sure to ask. He knew what it felt to lose someone close to him, and if it weren't for his friends he wouldn't get out of the depression.

Mira waved him off wiping the tears that formed on the side of her eyes. "I-I'm sure. She won't like it if we grieve for too long. She'd want us to be happy."

"Alright. If you say so…" Naruto released his grip and reluctantly let the topic go.

Lucy, the blonde-haired lady beside Naruto, tugged at his shirt. "What's going on? What were you two talking about?"

"Tell you later if its okay with Mira…" He said glancing at the white-haired beauty who subsequently waved him off.

"So…" Mira said desperate to change the subject. "What can I do for you two?"

"Well, Natsu here…" Lucy gestured over to the pink-haired wizard who was with them just moments earlier only to find no one there. "Wait…where'd he go?"

Naruto shrugged. What answered her question was a small explosion coming from the inside of the guild and the subsequent cackle of the pinkette in question.

Lucy sweatdropped at the scene.

"Does this always happen?" She asked. "Won't the guild master get angry that they trashed the guild?"

"Oh, this is perfectly normal," Lucy said nonchalantly causing Lucy to sweatdrop even more. "Master usually allows this to happen."

Lucy decided to push the thought aside for now and state their purpose for coming here.

"Uh-huh…So…anyway…Naruto and I," she began gesturing to Naruto who gave a small wave. "we're wondering if we could uh…join the guild…"

"Oh, then, you've met the right person," Mira said enthusiastically.

Lucy frowned a bit. "But won't we need the guild master here to approve new members?"

"No, it's fine," Mira waved off her question. "Master isn't picky about who he lets in the guild. So, he lets me handle the applications."

"Cool," Naruto said. "What do we need to do?"

"Oh, that's easy. Follow me," Mira said as she entered the guild into the chaos.

Lucy and Naruto followed suit. Nobody paid them any attention. The carnage only continued despite them entering the building. They were walking unharmed so far when a rouge bar stool flew in their direction, and it was heading straight for Naruto.

Years of training and experience made his reflexes react catching it without any trouble. All around them, the carnage continued. They were acting like nobody was about to be hit by a rouge bar stool while minding his/her own business.

What caught their attention though was the new heaviness in the air and subsequent drop in temperature.

"Alright," Naruto began, his expression not amused one bit. "Who's threw that?"

"What's it to ya?" A random voice amidst the sea of eyes asked aloud. "Who're you supposed to be?"

"Me?" Naruto said.

A golden aura began brewing around him. Everyone stared at him without a care. Clearly, the show didn't scare them one bit.

"N-naruto?" Lucy said. "Don't tell me you're going to join in as well!"

Naruto didn't say anything as the golden aura persisted. This was nothing to the wizards gathered in the guildhall. Well, that is until the golden aura expanded and grew into a giant whose head easily reached the beams of the guild ceiling. This was what got their attention as some of their faces went pale white, while others gulped. Only a particular pink-haired wizard cackled proclaiming his victory.

Then, the giant spoke. "YOU IDIOTS!"

"Oh, hey Master," Mira said in a sweet voice. "When did you arrive?"

"Master?" Lucy yelled in shock. "Your master's huge!"

The giant ignored the comment, and instead focused on the cackling wizard. His fists descended upon him, and flattened the pinkette silencing him. His actions sending fear up the spines of those who were watching.

With that done, his gaze shifted to the two blondes that were in the building.

"Newcomers?" he said.

The giant rumbled, then began to shrink, and, in his place, stood an extremely short elderly man with black eyes and balding white hair, along with a thick white mustache on his face. He was dressed in a casual manner consisting of a white shirt with the guild logo in the middle underneath an orange hoodie paired with matching orange shorts. Completing his attire was an orange and blue striped jester hat that covered his balding hair.

"Nice to meet you two," He greeted the two blondes. "Excuse me for a moment…"

It seems as though the dwarf of a master's height was only for show as his powerful legs made a powerful leap that made him reach far up into the guild crafters. The master was coo–

Oops never mind. He miscalculated the force to use to jump making his back impact on the rafters, but I gotta hand it to him. He did make a quick recovery and caught himself from falling. Despite his misstep, none of the wizards in the building broke out in laughter at his misstep. Seemingly, he is the only one who the wizards feared. For Naruto, it took incredible amounts of self-control for the blonde to reel in his laughter, but in his mindscape… Well, let's just say that it was a different story…

Anyway, the master nursed his back, the part that made contact with the rafters, and thought, "I'm getting too old for this…"

He scanned the crowd and began a sermon.

"You've done it again fools! Look at these documents I received from the council." He waved a stack of papers in his hands.

He raised them to his face to read, and began listing off the shenanigans the guild members had gone through.

"First, Grey good job on sweeping out the smuggling organization, but you walked around town naked afterward and ran away with the underwear that was left outside to dry.

Elfman! You were at an escort mission, but you assaulted the VIP!

Cana! Why did you drink 15 barrels of alcohol and charge it to the council?

Loki! You flirted with Councilman Reiji's Granddaughter. And, a talent agency is demanding we pay them compensation too."

Natsu... You're the worst of all of them. You destroyed the Devon Thief Family, but you also destroyed seven houses that belong to the townspeople. You levelled a historic clocktower in Tully Village, burnt down a church in Freesia, damaged parts of Lupinus Castle, collapsed Nazuna Ravine Observatory stopping their operations and…"

The master narrowed his eyes. What he said next surprised everyone in the building.

"Surprisingly, congratulations on stopping Bora's Slave Organization, without much damage to Hargeon Port. I don't know if I'm reading this right."

"Really?"

"Natsu didn't destroy the Port?"

"Is that really Natsu?"

Those were only some of the murmurs that were heard from the guild members as the master read the report.

"Anyway, that's one less of your blunders Natsu. Now, the rest of you. Alzach. Levy. Kulov. Reedus. Warren. Bisca."

Makarov sighed after reading the names and the destruction they caused. "Honestly, you lot will be the death of me. Don't you know that the council is breathing down my neck every time wreckage comes from your wake?"

Remorse was seen on the faces of the wizards present as the old man on the rafters shook in anger. Naruto and Lucy couldn't help but feel sorry for them.

"But…"

The wizards looked at him in shock. They were expecting a tongue-lashing, but it looked like there was a change of plans.

"I say screw the council!" He continued igniting the papers he had on hand and throwing them on the ground for a pinkette to catch and have as a snack.

"Listen up! Any power that surpasses reason still comes from reason, right? Magic isn't some miraculous power. It is a talent that only works when the flow of energy inside of us and the flow of energy in the natural world are in perfect synchronization. To perform magic, one must have a strong mind and the ability to focus." The Master said.

"It kinda works like chakra don't ya guys think?" Naruto asked his companions inside.

"Not really," Kurama answered.

"It's closer to your Sage Jutsu," Gyuki confirmed.

"Oh, I see," Naruto pondered it over. "That sounds about right…"

Back in the outside world, Makarov continued. "If you allow yourself to be bound by these rules, then your magic will never progress. Don't let those blowhards in the council scare you! Follow that path you believe in. Cause that's what makes the Fairy Tail Guild Number 1!"

Cheers broke out among the Fairy Tail guild. Everyone raised their arms in the air with the pointer and the thumb extended, the rest of their fingers flexed, and the back of the palm showing. It was a symbol proclaiming their status to the whole world.

Lucy had a look of delight on her face as she watched the cheers of the wizards around her. Then, her gaze passed over Naruto who had his head down.

"What's wrong, Naruto?" Lucy asked.

Naruto raised his head at the mention of his name and turned over to his fellow blonde with a huge grin on his face. "Oh nothing. It just feels like home."

"That is the gist of it…" The voice of the master answered Naruto's comment. "Some of the wizards here call this place home. To some, this is the only family they have. This place is open to anybody who seeks refuge."

"That sound nice…" Lucy said.

"I believe I haven't introduced myself," the master said. "My name is Makarov. Some call me Master, while others call me Gramps. Feel free to call me whatever you feel like."

"It's nice to meet you, Master," Lucy said. "I'm Lucy."

"The name's Naruto," Naruto gave a small wave. "We're looking to join the guild."

"Oh, that's fine. Just follow Mira here so she can give you your stamp." Makarov said.

"That's it?" Lucy asked in shock. "I don't need to do anything else?"

"Yes, that's pretty much it," The master said. "But first…"

Lucy gulped.

"May I have a word with you in my office, Naruto?" Makarov said. It wasn't forceful. He said it like a father would to his son.

"Sure thing, Master," Naruto answered and walked over with Makarov.

Lucy grabbed Naruto's arm. The said blonde turned to her. Lucy had a look of worry on her face. "What's wrong? Did you don something?"

It wasn't anything special. It's just that Naruto was one of the few people that Lucy had made friends with. Naturally, she would be worried, right?

Naruto shook his head. "I'm as clueless as you are, Lucy, but don't worry. I'll be fine."

"I-if you say so," Lucy relented.

"Now, why don't you go on a quest or two, or maybe go mingle with our other guild mates," Naruto suggested. "I'll be out before you know it."

"Alright," Lucy said as she reluctantly let go. She watched as the blonde marched towards the Master's office.

MAKAROV'S OFFICE

"Tell me, boy," Makarov began. "Do you believe in prophecies?"

Naruto was taken aback by the question. Back at home, the Great Toad Sage called him the Child of Prophecy. He didn't really think of himself as anything special. He was just Naruto. He just remained as himself and surprisingly, good things happened.

After a few moments of thinking it over, an answer was formulated in his mind. "Well, I do not believe our lives are predetermined. I do believe that we are able to decide what happens to us."

"Those are some wise words for someone as young as you," Makarov commented.

"Well, despite the rough childhood I had, I never let it get me down, y'know," Naruto stated a melancholy smile appearing on his face.

"You don't happen to be an orphan, are you my boy?"

"As a matter of face, yeah…"

"Well, I hope you can grow to see this place as a home,"

That earned a look of confusion on Naruto's face.

"So, I am accepted in the guild?" He asked.

"Well, of course," The elderly man answered. "I don't see why I should turn you away."

"Then, why did you want to talk to me?"

"Well, legends have been passed down through the generations of a massive war that might break out. The dead will be raised and be forced to fight for the living. But one man will usher in peace and end the conflict," Makarov explained.

'Hey, that sounds kinda familiar," Naruto thought.

"It sounds like that old toad's prophecy," Kurama told him from his mindscape earning a nod from Naruto.

"Does that have anything to do with me?" The blonde asked the Guild Master.

"Honestly, Naruto… I don't know," Makarov confessed. "It's just that the council thinks of you as an anomaly. Like you don't belong here for some reason."

Naruto chuckled nervously.

" Guys, should we tell him?" He asked for advice from his companions in his mindscape.

"I don't know if we should trust him," Gyuki said.

"Hmmm… He has been nothing but good to us since we got here. The least we could do is be honest with him,"

After a quick but careful deliberation from the tailed beast, one thing was decided and it was up to Naruto to explain it.

"Uhm, Well, you see…"

Naruto told him of his story. He told him about how he ended up in Tenrou Island after being transported from another world where he met Mavis. This earned a look of disbelief from the master of the guild. He explained how he learned how to use magic and polish his craft. As Naruto narrated, he wasn't interrupted even though he felt that the Master had a hard time wrapping around what was being told to him.

"And, that's kinda it…" Naruto ended the long tale he was telling.

"Forgive me Naruto, but I'm having a hard time believing what you are saying," Makarov said. "Plus, getting to our Guild's Sacred Island without the Guild Master, much less without the guild mark."

"Well, Mavis-chan was responsible for the whole thing…"

"But still, it is hard to believe…"

"I know. Sorry if I can't provide any proof. I kinda forgot to ask Mavis-chan for one," Naruto apologize.

"Is this proof enough?" A voice of a child spoke from within the room causing the two men to look at the source.

"Mavis-sama?"

"Mavis-chan?"

The two blurted out at the same time upon seeing the First Master standing on the room reading some of the elderly man's files as she swung her feet back and forth.

"What are you doing here?" Naruto asked.

"Oh, I just missed your company," Mavis said then her expression turned into a pout. "Aren't you happy to see me."

"It's not that," Naruto quickly said trying to appease the small girl. "I'm just surprised to see you here. You said you can't leave the island."

"I didn't say that," Mavis said with a mischievous smile.

"At any rate, come here!" Naruto said with his arms slightly raised to signal a hug.

Mavis flew into Naruto's arms knocking him to the ground as both of them giggled. Makarov sat on his table in shock as she watched the interaction of the two. Here was the First Master looking the same way he remembered as a kid. And this boy was interacting with him like she was a little sister to her.

*Ahem*

Makarov cleared his throat to get the attention of the two.

"Honestly, my head hurts from all the headaches the kids cause me then there's Naruto's story that I can't wrap my head around. I just don't know what's real anymore," The Guild Master said. "But, to what do I owe meeting you again in these circumstances."

The small girl got to her feet before she answered. "While I said that I was here because I missed Naruto, I am also here to confirm Naruto's story. I expected him to tell you the truth. And I understand his story may be hard to believe, but they are true. I was the one who brought him here."

"I-I don't know what to say," Makarov said.

"Well, there is only one thing too say," Mavis said. "Welcome to the Guild, Naruto."

A/N: Hey guys! I switched from First Person to Third Person in this chapter. To be honest, I'm bothered by the First Person Perspective when writing this story. CUBONE104's review was just what pushed me to change it. Yeah, so from now on. I'll write this story from this perspective.

Thank you for reading though! Till next time
