Chapter 19

"WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR GUILD?" Natsu demanded to no one in particular.

"It's completely trashed…" Lucy said with tears in her eyes.

"I wonder who would do this…" Naruto added.

The party from Galuna Island stared at the scene in a mixture of anger and sadness. Sadness because they were seeing the guild that they called home crumbling before their very eyes. Anger because they wanted to find out who the wise guy that did this and pay it back a thousand-fold.

"Oh, you guys are back," A voice said sadly.

The six wizards turned to see Mira looking at the wreckage with tears in her eyes. "Even now, looking at this still makes me want to cry…"

Naruto walked to the barmaid and wrapped an arm around her. "Was anybody hurt?" He asked.

Mira shook her head. "They attacked in the night, so it was only the building that was wrecked."

"Where are they?" Erza asked.

"Come, I will show you…"

Mira led the group through the guild. It wasn't only the exterior that was destroyed. The metal rods even penetrated until the inside wrecking even the inside of the guild. So, nobody could even use the bar. Mira opened a door that contained a set of stairs going down. They went down the flight and entered the basement.

"Look who made it back everybody!" Mira said halfheartedly.

"Hey, it's Natsu!" Macao said in the same manner.

"You guys are in so much trouble," Wakaba added.

"You saw what they did to the guild, right?" Nab chimed in.

"We should go to their guild and smash it to pieces!" Max said.

"Guys, we've been over this," Mira told the guys off. "Master specifically told us not to retaliate."

"Come on, we know we can take them!" Loki said. "They got nothing on us if they chose to attack an empty guild."

"That's enough," the Guild Master raised his voice. "I said it once and I'll say it again, leave those bastards be. We will only be playing into what they want."

"WHY ARE WE STANDING HERE LIKE A BUNCH OF WEAKLINGS!" Natsu screamed at the master as he sipped a mug of ale.

"I already told you, Natsu. We will not indulge them in this childish behavior," Master Makarov answered in a stern but tipsy voice. "Need I remind you that you still have punishment to undergo."

Master's hand extended to punish the pinkette, but the instead of going to bonk his head it went into the direction of a certain Celestial Wizard's behind. Fortunately for her, Naruto caught the hand. Still, the thought of the punishment caused the four to turn as white as paper.

"Master," Naruto said in a dangerously calm voice enough to send chills up his spine. "Could we refrain from committing sexual harassment if it's too much to ask?"

"R-right," Master returned his hand to normal and coughed into his hand.

"Who would do such a thing, Master?" Erza asked trying to remain calm.

"Our old enemies," Master said in all seriousness. "Phantom Lord."

"What?" Gray said in surprise. "Why make their move now after being quiet for quite a while?"

"Who knows?" Makarov shrugged with another sip of his ale. "We never know what is going on in those troublemakers' heads."

"IF WE KNOW WHO WAS BEHIND THIS THING, WHY AREN'T WE DOING ANYTHING?"Natsu yelled this time being joined by a certain redheaded S-class Wizard.

Before things could escalate, Naruto chopped them on the head with the side of his hand. "Calm down, you guys!" He scolded.

"How can you be calm at a time like this?" Gray demanded.

"Because I have been in this situation before and acting rashly wouldn't do any good," Naruto mused. "Besides, I'm sure Oji-chan has his reasons, right Master?"

Makarov nodded after a sigh from finishing his ale. "Those scaredy cats aren't worth it. Attacking an empty guild only proves that they are a bunch of pansies. They are just not worth our time and resources if this is all they can do."

"Did you say empty guild?" Erza asked.

"Why yes?" Mira chimed in for an answer. "It seems they attacked in the middle of the night, so nobody was hurt."

"In any case, handing out of jobs will resume here in the basement until we are able to repair the upper floors," Master said.

"And we should go by in pairs or in groups," Naruto added. "I don't think this is the last that we will hear of them, so we best watch each other's backs."

Naruto felt the head of all the male wizards swing their head towards the rear ends of the few females present in the head causing a commotion from some irate wizards.

"That's not what I meant!" Naruto screamed at them with his voice cracking. It seems even he had thought of the double meaning of his words.

LATER THAT DAY

"So, things have gone pretty serious, huh?" Lucy said as she tried to balance herself on the stone railing that blocked the path from the water. Pluu, the spirit whose key she bought in Hargeon, was walking with her.

"I know, it sucks that Master won't do anything about this one," Naruto said walking beside her with his hands at the back of his head.

"I just hope they won't resort to attacking our guildmates," Naruto said hopefully.

"Relax, I'm sure everyone is following your advice and pairing up into groups," Lucy suggested.

"I guess you're right," Naruto muttered. "Say, we've been going on jobs here and there for a while now, why don't we think of a name for our team?"

Lucy considered this putting a finger to her lips in thought, "Hmmm, I don't know. What would be a good name for our team?"

"Ohhh, I got one!" Naruto yelled out as the thought crossed his mind. "What about Demons Slayers!"

Lucy slipped as she gave Naruto a blank look at the shinobi had come up with and almost fell into the water. It was a good thing Naruto had caught her by the arm preventing her from prematurely diving into the water.

"That was a good save," Lucy said after taking a deep breath after getting her feet on dry land. "Thanks."

"Don't mention it. You should be more careful next time," Naruto said with a foxlike grin. "It makes sense since we took out three demons now…"

With that, the pair resumed their walk back to their house. They walked in silence after

Lucy sighed in relief as she entered the building of their apartment. "I'm glad Master had forgotten about our punishment."

"You guys got off lucky," Naruto chuckled. "You should have seen the look on Ojisan's face when he was contemplating what to do with you."

"Don't remind me," Lucy shuddered at the thought. "Although, I'm not too happy about how we got off the hook…The guild had to wrecked for that to happen."

Naruto nodded. "I know our guilds haven't seen eye to eye, but to go this far, there must be something they're after."

"In any case, we should do our best to protect our guild and watch each other's backs!" Lucy declared as she opened the door.

"Yo!"

"Welcome back!"

"You have a nice apartment!"

A few greetings came from the inside. Upon seeing who the greetings came from, Lucy's eyes bulge and of her eyes and her mouth hang open in shock.

"Hey, what's holding ya?" Naruto asked when Lucy didn't move past her spot as she opened the door.

Not hearing a response, he shook her partner bringing her out of her shock. She turned her head to her fellow blonde with the look of shock still evident on her face and pointed to the inside of their house.

Naruto's expression turned puzzled and walked in.

"Oh, hey guys!" Naruto greeted back. "What's up?"

"Naruto! You're here to!" Natsu said. "Did you come to back Lucy up to?"

"No, you idiot!" It was Gray who answered. "He lives here!"

"How should I have known, ice princess?!" Natsu said confronting Gray face to face.

"Everyone knows, flame brain!" Gray returned with an electrifying glare. "Where do you live? Under a rock?!"

"That's enough boys!" Erza bonked the two arguing boys on the head.

She then turned to Naruto and said, "To be honest, I had a different view of how it looked like in my mind when you said you lived with each other." she coughed into her closed fist with a tinge of pink on both of her cheeks.

"OKAY! HOLD IT!" Lucy rushed to the middle of conversation with her arms crossed above her head. The little white dog followed with her example. (Honestly, how that little white snowman thing be called a dog is beyond me.)

"YOU! IS THAT HOW YOU ACT WHEN PEOPLE BREAK INTO YOUR HOUSE?" She pointed an accusing finger at Naruto. "I WAS EXPECTING MORE A RESPONSE FROM YOU!"

"AND YOU!" she turned her finger to the three. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"

"Calm down, Lucy," Erza said. "We are just doing Naruto's suggestion about pairing up or forming groups."

"And you chose our apartment?" Lucy asked.

"Hey, yours was the only choice," Gray shrugged.

"Oh really?" the Celestial Wizard raised an eyebrow at that. "Out of five people, our house is the only possible choice? What about Erza?"

"I live in the Fairy Hills Dormitory," The Requip Wizard explained. "Boys aren't allowed there."

"Okay, understandable," Lucy's form drooped. "What about you, Gray?"

"My apartment is too small for five people and a cat, so no dice," The Ice Wizard said taking off his clothes.

"Okay, I can accept that," She said. "AND DON'T STRIP IN FRONT OF ME!"

"So, that leaves Natsu," Naruto continued for his partner. "What's his deal?"

"Our house is big enough for six of us," He said after swallowing a mouthful of food.

"Hard pass," Gray shook his head. "I don't want to live in a literal dump."

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?!" Natsu protested.

"Accept it Natsu!" Gray said. "It's true!"

Naruto stood there petrified. In the back of his head, he pictured his old apartment in Konoha. It was a dump as well, but it was home. No one cared anyway, only he went home to that apartment. He shook that thought out of his mind when Erza began to speak.

"So that's why we decided to have a sleepover at your place," Happy chimed in with a fish in his mouth; only Kami knows where it came from.

"Alright," Lucy raised her hands in defeat. "Suit yourself. I could use a bath. Could you show them the guest room, Naruto?"

"Sure thing!" Naruto said joining the boys in their feast.

"That is a great idea," Erza suddenly said. "Why don't we all bathe together?"

"Nope! I don't feel like it."

"Nah, I'm already sleepy.""

The two boys both straight up refused.

"Honestly, you two smell like a pig sty!" Erza scolded. "I refuse to sleep with the two of you with the way you smell right now. Or would you like to shower together like for old time's sake."

"WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP DO YOU TWO HAVE?!" Lucy freaked upon hearing what the S-class Wizard said.

"What?" Erza shrugged. "I see nothing wrong with it."

"Well, you should…" Lucy answered with a deadpanned expression.

LATER

I know you people would want to see that scene of Erza bathing with Gray and Natsu, but that didn't happen. For starters, the bathroom wasn't big enough for the three to fit in. So, they just decided to take turns using the shower.

Naruto was the last out of the bathroom and he walked out of his room after changing. The others were in sitting on the couch in the commons area talking while Erza was reading a book with some Kanji on the cover.

Lucy took this moment to sigh out loud, "Do you have any idea why Phantom Lord decided to attack us?"

Erza looked up from the book, "I honestly have no clue. We may have had brushes with them in the past, but this is the first time they acted directly."

"Tch," Natsu clicked his tongue in frustration. "Ji-chan should just quit being scared and just attack them already."

"He's not scared Natsu," Gray told him off. "He is one of the Ten Wizard Saints after all."

"Ten Wizard Saints?" Naruto said joining his friends. "What's that?"

"It is a title bestowed by the Chairman of the Magic Council," Erza explained to the boy. "It is only given strongest wizards of the continent."

"Wow!" Naruto said in amazement. "I wonder if I can be one."

"I know you're strong, Naruto, but we don't even know strong these wizards are," Lucy said.

"Come on, how hard can it be?" Naruto waved off her statement. "Say, besides Master, who else is part of Wizard Saints?"

"Well, for staters, Master Jose of Phantom Lord is another and there's that Siegrain from the Magic Coucil," Gray started listing off.

Erza tightened her fist at the mention of the latter.

"GAHHH, MASTER IS JUST SCARED BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORE MEMBERS!" Natsu yelled out.

"Idiot! I'm telling you that's not his reason!" Gray explained. "Master is avoiding all out confrontation, because if our two guilds did clash… Let's just say it would be pretty."

"Hmmm, I can understand that," Naruto nodded.

"Just how strong are our two guilds?" Lucy asked.

"Psh," Natsu huffed. "Those chumps don't stand a chance against us!"

"I would have to disagree, Natsu," Erza shook her head. "If we were to fight, both guilds will be wiped out. Our potentials are at a stalemate at the moment. Their master, who is also part of the Ten Wizard Saints as Gray had said, has been rumored to have power equal to that of Master Makarov. And then there's the Element Four, their equivalent to our S-class Wizards. They say that the strongest out of them is their leader, Gajeel, the Iron Dragon Slayer."

"Hmmm, he must be the one who trashed our guild," Naruto said remembering the iron rods sticking out of their guildhall. "Those rods did feel like it came from dragon slayer magic."

"Did you say Dragon Slayer?" Lucy asked. "You mean like Natsu?"

"Psh, big deal," Natsu looked away.

"Say, if Natsu eats fire, then does he eat metal if he's an Iron Dragon Slayer?" Naruto asked.

Natsu briefly considered this and shrugged, "Hmmm, who knows. I wonder if it would taste any good."

"I doubt it," Lucy said. She then noticed Erza reading something she recognized. "Hey, Erza, is that-"

"Oh, this book?" Erza closed the book and showed the others the cover. "It's Dokonjo Ninden, did I say that right? I think it's translated as Tales of the Gutsy Ninja."

Lucy eyes widened. "YOU GOT A COPY?! HOW?! THIS SOLD OUT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY!"

"Well, I got it even before it sold out a few years ago," Erza explained. "Imagine, this book was sitting in the book store gathering dust, then out of nowhere, it suddenly sold out."

Lucy drooped. "You're so lucky. I've been trying to look for this book everywhere!"

"Oh, you read Namikaze—I mean Tsukasa Namikaze's books?" Naruto asked. "I heard there was a logistical problem that's why the books didn't get delivered on time, but we shouldn't worry. The stocks will arrive within the month."

"What's the big deal about this book anyway?" Natsu said in a bored tone.

Lucy turned to him with a glare. "You wouldn't appreciate it. But I heard, the story of this book was sooo good. Too bad I can't read it for myself. Don't get me started on the reviews!"

"Ohhh, someone's popular…" Kurama snickered from the inside of his mindscape.

"Shut up, furball!" Naruto snapped back in his mind.

"Anyway, you want a copy?" He offered. "I think I got an extra signed one in my room."

"For real?" Lucy turned full fangirl mode. "Are you sure? It's a signed copy. I can't take it if it's that valuable."

"No, no, it's alright," Naruto waved her off.

"That's great! You're the best!" She cheered and unconsciously pulled her partner in a hug.

She pulled away, but she didn't feel flustered at all. She was just so happy that it wasn't on her mind at the moment.

"Uhh, why don't I give you your copy tomorrow?" Naruto asked.

"Awww, can't I have it now?" Lucy pleaded.

"Uhh, I still have to look for it," Naruto said. "So why don't we all hit the hay for tonight?"

"Aww, do you have to take that long?" Lucy puffed her cheeks in annoyance, but she sighed in the end. "Oh well, I'm getting tired anyway. Oh my god, I can't wait!"

"Good night, Lucy! Good night everyone!" Naruto said and sped to his room.

"Yeah, good night!" Lucy said back. "See you guys tomorrow."

"Why did Lucy get to have a good night, while we got 'good night everybody'?" Gray asked.

"Probably because he looooves her~~" Happy teased, but Lucy didn't get mad this time.

And with that, they decided to turn in for the night, but unbeknownst to them, they are in for a surprise when they wake up.

THE NEXT MORNING

"Narutoooo~~" Lucy sang as she knocked on her fellow blonde's room. "Time to wake uuuup~~"

"Just a few more minutes…" Naruto drawled as he tossed and turned in his bed.

"You still have to give me the book~~" Lucy continued to knock.

"Oh yeah, just come in. It's on the table…" Naruto just said as covered himself with his blanket.

"Uhh, okay…" Lucy said puzzled and tried to push the door with some effort.

What greeted her in the room was a huge mess. It didn't look like a room at all. It looked like a landfill! There were clothes scattered everywhere, crumpled papers strewn all over the floor, and ramen wrappers that looked like it was from the last month. Lucy should know, she was the one who picked it up when she went grocery shopping.

"Geez, do you even clean your room at all?" Lucy scolded her fellow blonde half-heartedly. She couldn't do that to him now. After all, he was giving her a signed copy of the book she was looking for.

Naruto groaned in his sleep, "Sakura-chan, nooo…I can't eat anymore…"

Lucy raised an eyebrow as he heard her partner sleep talk. 'Must be one of his friends from where he came from…' She thought and shrugged as she picked up the book on his table. She couldn't help but notice though that there was a stack of books carelessly stacked over each other. It was the same color and the same cover page as the book she now had. 'I guess he wasn't kidding when he said he had extra copies. He's probably also a fan…'

Naruto giggled. Now, Lucy wasn't sure if he was awake or asleep. "Hihihi… If you say so…" He then bit on his bolster and started chewing.

"If you're hungry, you better get up and eat," Lucy said. She then noticed an orange pocket book that was scattered under a piece of clothing she accidentally kicked away.

"Oh…Sakura-chan… Your lips are so… Mmmpf…" He then started making out with his pillow and squirmed around.

"Hey Naruto…Uhh…What's this orange book?" Lucy asked picking it up.

Naruto, then, shot up from his bed and quickly snatched the book out of the girl's hands before she could open it. "Th-th-that's… uh… nothing! Yeah! It's nothing!"

Lucy just shrugged. She was too happy to dwell on things like this like that. "By the way, thanks again for giving me this book." She raised the book and showed her partner the cover and gave him a grin.

"Uhh…yeah! Don't mention it!" Naruto said.

"I couldn't help but notice you're hungry," Lucy offered. "Come on! I made you your favorite ramen!"

"Really? You did?" Naruto had stars in his eyes. "But you didn't have to, ya know…"

"Don't be silly!" She waved him off. "It's my thanks for the book. Come on! It will get cold if you wait any longer!"

She then dragged her partner out of his room and into the dining room.

ON THE WAY TO THE GUILD

Shortly after Naruto and Lucy got down, their guests joined them for breakfast. Lucy reminded Naruto that it was his turn to make breakfast that day, which caused her partner to widen his eyes and profusely apologize to the girl. Once again, Lucy waved it off and told him that she was happy to cook for today, but he should be more responsible next time.

Now here they were, casually walking to the guild. They didn't have it in them to get to the guild as soon as possible. Seeing their home thrashed still hurt. As everyone else, they were not in the mood to take jobs. They just drank their sorrows away, just as they did yesterday.

"Ahhh," Natsu sighed contentedly with the blue cat resting on his head. "That breakfast was awesome."

"Yeah, thank you, but couldn't you eat like a civilized human?" Lucy said as she separated her eyes from the book that she was currently reading for but a moment to give the pinkette a deadpanned expression.

"What are you talking about?" Natsu asked the girl in confusion. "I am civilized."

"Yeah, right," Gray scoffed. "Your drool was spraying to me as you ate. And I was across the table from you."

"At least I don't strip while I eat!" Natsu countered.

Lucy just sighed and went back to the book she read. She didn't want to deal with them fighting so early in the morning. Luckily for her, Erza was there for that job.

"Boys! What did I say about fighting?" The redhead scolded.

"Uh, we're not fighting!" Both boys said as they slung an arm over each other. They quickly walked ahead of their teammates and kept up their pace arm in arm. Though, they still maintained the glares though they both stared down with their peripheral vision.

"I wonder what's with these people making a commotion early in the morning," Naruto asked as he yawned.

They continued like that for a while. They passed by shops that were just starting to open. The shopkeepers even greeted them as they passed and offered them their goods.

That was until they made it into South Gate Park. Erza noticed that Natsu and Gray had unwrapped themselves off of each other and were now staring at huge crowd building up in front of the large tree in the middle of the park. Even, Lucy looked up from the book.

"Say, why do you think they're making a commotion, so early in the morning?" Naruto asked his friends.

"Something must have happened. Let's go check it out," Erza said to the others.

"Right!" They all answered in unison as they went.

"Gangway!" Naruto said as he pushed through the crowd.

"Passing through!" Lucy said as she squeezed through some people.

When they got to the front, all of them gasped.

"Levy!" Lucy yelled.

"Jet, Droy!" Natsu and Gray called out.

"This is Phantom Lord's doing…" Naruto said placing Levy down gently and examining the mark on her stomach.

"Despicable," Erza grit her teeth. "To think they would go so far…"

"Hmmm," A voice came from behind the crowd silencing. They parted to reveal Fairy Tail's Guild Master with a solemn look on his face.

"This is the last straw," Makarov began. "They can destroy our guild, but no parent can idle when their children's blood is spilt."

"Oji-san, does this mean…" Natsu asked.

"THIS MEANS WAR!" Makarov completed. He then turned to the others and said, "Gather everyone you could muster! We are going to storm their guild."

"Right!" The others said.

"I'll go and make sure they get medical attention!" Naruto volunteered.

Makarov nodded and went on his way.

The blonde formed three shadow clones and carried each of his injured guildmates to the hospital.

"Lucy, you come too!" Naruto say and suddenly carried Lucy bridal-style without waiting for a response.

"Wait, I can—" Lucy tried to protest. "KYAH!"

A/N: Yeah, uh... a little shorter chapter this time...Yeah... On the Fairy Tail and Naruto crossover note, I have a request to do a particular type of story. Stay tuned for it. I will begin working on it after I finish the third book of my other story, so yeah...See ya next time
