Chapter 21
In the waters of Lake Sciliora, a massive, hulking monstrosity took its stride shaking the earth underneath it.
One would expect the figure to be a large beast stalking its prey, but in actuality, it was Phantom Lord's Headquarters, a large, imposing, and compact building made of stone taking the form of a single body ending in a variety of differently shaped domes. There was an extremely high, ornamental entrance up front composed of an arch held up by two long, square pillars, complete with arched windows below and above it. To the right of this structure was an angled zone with several orders of large windows lined up one at the others side, arranged in groups of six and the top sporting battlements. To the left, the building was reminiscent of a hexagonal tower fused with the building, possessing very high and ornamental windows in groups of three below and smaller, simpler, and more numerous arched windows on the top. Each corner of the building was marked by a round pillar possessing bulges corresponding to the various orders of the building. The top of the building was a large dome that held a light flag bearing the guild's symbol behind it.
Now, this building shocked the Fairy Tail Wizards who came out to see what the commotion was about. They were definitely surprised when they saw the guild hall's foundations were propped up with the use of six gargantuan mechanical legs reminiscent of a spider attached to the sides.
"No way!"
"Is that Phantom?"
"Their guild is walking!"
The Fairy Tail Wizards gawked as they watched the building approach their guild.
"FAIRY TAIL, PREPARE TO BE OBLITERATED!" Jose declared as the front of the guild opened up revealing a long canon that gathered energy.
"SHIT! THIS IS BAD!" Erza cursed. "EVERYONE GET DOWN!"
"Erza! No!" Naruto warned the wizard, but she didn't listen.
She just rushed forward and yelled, "Requip: Adamantine Armor!"
"DESTROY THEM!" Jose ordered.
The canon fired a beam of energy straight at the guild. The only thing in between their home and obliteration was Erza and her most defensive armor.
"SCREW BEING LOW KEY!" Naruto screamed gaining the attention of his guild mates. "I WON'T LET YOU HURT MY FRIENDS AGAIN!"
"What are you—"
Naruto didn't let him finish the question as he once again yelled with hands clasped together, "KURAMA!" His voice was now deep and demonic.
He exploded with golden energy similar to flickering flames. With his hands still clasped, several tails made of the similar emerged from the ground and wrapped themselves around the building forming a protective coat.
The Jupiter Blast impacted the dome and exploded.
Upon hearing the explosion, the Fairy Tail Wizards opened their eyes to see they were unscathed. Nobody was hurt with the previous attack.
"What's this?" Erza looked around the golden dome that surrounded them. "I-it's so much power…"
"This isn't even magic," Gray gawked as he looked around.
"Naruto, what is this?" Mira asked.
The said blonde didn't get to answer as the speakers once again came online.
"EVEN I ADMIT I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT WEIRD POWER TO COME SAVE YOU!" Jose said in the intercom. "BUT CAN THAT POWER PROTECT THE WHOLE TOWN FROM THIS?"
The Phantom guild shifted, now gaining a pair of mechanical arms. The arms started drawing a magic circle as if ready to cast a spell.
"What's it doing?" Cana asked.
"DO YOU LIKE MY GUILD HALL'S DESIGN?" Jose said over the intercom. "THIS IS MY SUPER MAGE GIANT MARK II!"
"Did he say mage?" Gray said.
"YES! YOU HEARD ME RIGHT!" Jose bragged. "THIS GUILD HALL IS ABLE TO CAST A SPELL, ABYSS BREAK! IT IS A WIZARD IN ITS OWN RIGHT!"
"ARE YOU MAD? YOU WILL DESTROY THE TOWN!" Erza yelled.
"We have to break that thing! Quick!" Natsu said.
"Wait!" Naruto stopped him.
"Eh? What is it now?" Natsu looked at him oddly.
Naruto raised his hand, and energy started gathering on his palm in the form of a ball. The ball started growing and changing into a molten core made of lava. It grew and grew until it looked like a miniature sun with a swirling shuriken around it.
"Senpo: Yoton Rasenshuriken!" Naruto yelled as he flung his attack at the building.
The attack exploded on contact. The molten core consumed the guild exterior and multiple wind blades destroyed even the rubble. When the attack was finished, only a few of the walls and the foundations were left standing.
"Now, let's beat them to a pulp!" He ordered and immediately made a mad dash towards the guild.
"Oi, is it just me or is he walking on the water?" Natsu asked the others.
"YOU THINK IT WILL BE THAT EASY?" Jose screamed into intercom that was somehow intact. Several soldiers appeared out of nowhere in front of the fairies.
"You guys go assist Naruto!" Cana ordered. "We'll take care of things here!"
"Since when did you become the boss?" Gray asked.
"Don't argue, just go!" Cana said as she took out one of the soldiers with her card magic.
"Naruto will need a real man's help!" Elfman declared.
"I will burn everyone to a crisp!" Naruto added.
"It's payback time!" Gray yelled his battle cry.
"I can't let that idiot fight Master Jose by himself," Erza said leading the charge.
"Everyone…" Lucy had tears in their eyes. "Okay! I'll fight too!"
She was about to bring out her keys, but Mira stopped her, "Come on Lucy. We have to get you to safety."
"But, I have to help defend the guild!" Lucy argued. "I owe it to everyone."
"No Lucy, you don't owe us anything," Mira countered. "We will gladly protect one of our own."
"But—"
She didn't get to finish her statement as the white-haired beauty cast a sleep spell on her and sent her away with Reedus.
PHANTOM LORD GUILD HALL
"Where is your Master?" Naruto demanded as he stood face to face against one of the Element Four.
"Ahh, Naruto Uzumaki," The Phantom Wizard greeted. "That last attack has crippled our guild hall. I would expect no less from a wizard of your caliber. And that golden avatar…my oh my… you were holding out on us."
Naruto stared down the young man in front of him unimpressed by his antics. He was a man with long, two-toned hair of black and white, tied up into a Japanese-style top knot on the back of his head, with the black portion overlaying the front and left side of his head, leaving the smaller white portion concentrated on the left. On his face, he sported a simple marking consisting of three horizontal black bars passing across the ridge of his nose and both cheeks in a linear formation.
He is garbed in a ninja-like attire consisting of a long, orange-reddish Karate gi-like cloth, held closed by a black belt, with prominent reddish fur around the collar, and with the sides being made of thick fishnet, His attire is completed by a simple shirt appearing from under his gi, and a pair of loose black pants tucked inside simple black boots. He also carries around a simple katana strapped to his left hip.
"The fire guy," Naruto regarded him.
"I'm hurt, Naruto," Totomaru feigned a heartbroken expression. "How could you forget my name?"
"Quit blabbing nonsense, baka," Naruto ignored his words. "Show me where your master is."
"I cannot do that," Totomaru returned to a hardened expression. "He is busy handling our—Let's say— business here."
"If you're not going to tell me, I'll beat it out of you," Naruto went into a fighting stance.
"FIRE DRAGON: IRON FIST!" A new voice cried charging the new enemy.
It was Natsu! Happy had flown him to the guild building.
"Naruto!" The said blue cat hovered slowly as he regarded his guildmate.
"What are you doing here?" The blonde asked.
"Erza told us to come to help you!" Happy answered. "She's livid! You have a lot of explaining to do!"
Speaking of the redhead, "That was some magic you showed us, Naruto." She said walking behind them along with Gray and Elfman.
"Guys…"
"You magic is manly!" Elfman yelled as they walked up to him.
"Uh, yeah!" Naruto said. "I gotta find Jose and force them to leave!" He turned to leave, but Erza grabbed him by the shoulder.
"Naruto…After all of this is over, you explain everything to you family, got it?" She said.
The blonde smiled. "Got it…Alright," He adopted a serious expression. "I sense five of them in this building. We have to split up and take them out for this to be over. You guys get them, I'll take Jose."
"Think this through man," Gray reasoned. "He's a Wizard Saint on par with the Master."
"I know what I'm doing," Naruto winked.
"Ahem," Totomaru cleared his throat gaining the fairies' attention. He waved his hand and Natsu punched himself in the face with a flame-encased fist. "Talking about your plans in front of the enemy? How overconfident of you…"
"You knowing our plans won't make a difference!" Natsu yelled recovering from the attack on himself. "You guys go! I'll take this clown!"
"Beat him to a pulp!" Naruto said as they moved to their targets.
TOP FLOOR OF THE PHANTOM LORD GUILD
"I cannot let you get any further," A feminine voice spoke as Naruto had reached the end of the stairs. It was the rain woman
"I was wondering where you were. Natsu and the others are taking care of your friends right now," Naruto said. "It's time to pay you back for trying to kidnap Lucy."
"Just what is she to you?" Juvia asked.
"She's my friend," Naruto asked causing the girl in front of her to unconsciously sigh in relief. "And I will never forgive those who try and hurt my friends!"
'What is this? Why do I feel relieved?" Juvia thought to herself. She steeled her emotions and gathered water around her hands. "I am sorry, but this is just business."
"Well, my business is with your master," Naruto glared at her. "Move. I do not want to fight you."
'He cares about me,' Juvia thought hiding a blush on her face. "Master has instructed me to not anyone pass through here. I cannot let you get by."
"Then, I will have to force my way through!" Naruto yelled flinging a couple of kunai.
Juvia stood stoically allowing the weapons to pass harmlessly through her. She was briefly surprised when Naruto suddenly appeared right behind her and sent a punched her way. Her expression returned when she was unharmed by the attack.
"My body is made entirely of water," Juvia stated matter-of-factly. "Physical attacks don't affect me. Now that you're here…You're mine!"
Juvia's body broke down and turned into water and gathered into a sphere around Naruto. Before the sphere could enclose around him, Naruto disappeared suddenly and reappeared a few feet away.
"That's a really cool ability you have there, Ms. uh—What's your name again?" Naruto said excitedly until he remembered he didn't know her name.
"My name is Juvia, thank you very much," The girl huffed and turned around. "You never bothered to ask my name."
With her back turned to him though, she raised her to hand to her cheeks and squealed to herself. "He thinks Juvia is cool."
She squirmed around as she walked away that she didn't see that her body passed through the railing.
"Hey! Be careful!" Naruto warned as he shot up to his feet.
Juvia opened her eyes only to see that her feet were no longer on solid ground. She hung in the air for a couple of seconds before her screams filled the building as she fell.
Naruto jumped over the railing and caught Juvia in his arms. With the girl in her arms, he reappeared into one of his marked kunai on the top floor.
"That was close," Naruto let out a breath of relief. "What are you doing walking over the edge like that?"
"I-I…Y-you saved Juvia," She managed in her shocked state. "Why would you save me even we're enemies?"
"Well, enemy or not, I can't let a pretty girl like you fall like that," Naruto scratched his cheek sheepishly.
"D-did you say pretty?" Juvia squealed again. "He thinks Juvia is pretty!"
"You're kind of weird. I like people like you," Naruto looked at the ceiling with a melancholic smile.
Juvia's eyes widened at the statement. A tinge of pink graced her cheeks as she looked away from the blonde. "Y-you like Juvia?"
"Uhh yeah! I bet you're great now that I got to talk to you," Naruto gave her a foxlike grin. "Too bad we got to meet on opposite sides though…"
Juvia shakily got to her feet after taking in the scent of Naruto's jacket. It had the faint scent of pork broth which she found divine.
"Are you okay?" Naruto asked.
"I-I'm fine," Juvia said. "I can't fight you after everything that's happened. I surrender."
"Uhh…okay…" Naruto was shocked at what the girl was saying. "Does that mean you'll let me through?"
"Yes," Juvia nodded.
"Uhh…thank you…" The blonde stood to his feet and cracked his knuckles. "Now to confront Jose and everything will all be over."
GUILD MASTER'S ROOM
Clap clap clap
"Incredible show of strength, Naruto Uzumaki," Jose greeted knowing the looming threat was coming for him. "To think you would make one of my strongest wizards surrender without much of a fight."
"I'm not here to play games with you, Jose," Naruto said. "Call of your attack or there will be trouble."
"Come on. There's no need for things to go that far," Jose shook his head. "I have a counter offer for you."
"I am not interested," Naruto said flatly.
"Come on. With you by my side and with the money I will get from the client, we will be the greatest guild in the world!" The Phantom guild master declared.
"I said I'm not interested," He reiterated.
"Oh? If you know who the client is maybe you will change your mind…"
"What are you talking about?"
Jose raised an orb where the familiar cry of a girl echoed. "Naruto! Anyone! Help!"
"Lucy!" Naruto yelled. "When did you—"
"Yes, boy," Jose smirked. "I know you are aware of her heritage by now. You see her father has offered a lot of money for her to return to him."
"And so?" Naruto's glare deepened. "We would never sell out our comrades! Let her go, now!"
"Well, I would never say I came unprepared," Jose waved a hand to the window. "I have another incentive for you to join."
Naruto turned to the window. Jose waved his hand again the something happened outside. Naruto's eyes widened. Various shadow soldiers swirled around the guild. His guildmates were valiantly fighting off these shades, but when Jose waved his hand, the dark magic swirled outside and formed a giant humanoid figure made of the same dark energy. The figure slammed a closed fist on the ground in an attempt to flatten a wizard. Fortunately for him, he was able to evade the attack.
He turned back to glare at him. "Stop this madness now!"
"I will just accept my offer and all this will be over," Jose said. "Now, what will it be?"
"I know you can get through this, guys," Naruto muttered to himself.
"Such a shame," Jose made the image on the orb disappear. "Fine then, you can all die together!" Shades exploded from the enemy guild master filling the room.
NATSU VS TOTOMARU
"FIRE DRAGON—" Natsu charged a fist ignited in a flame ready to strike.
Totomaru waved his hand activating his magic. Natsu's fist collided with his own face for some reason.
"ARGH!" Natsu entered a tantrum. "WHY DO I KEEP HITTING MYSELF!"
"I am Totomaru, the master of fire," The Fire Mage of Phantom introduced himself. "All flames bow down to me!"
"NO FAIR!" Natsu stomped his feet. "ONLY I CAN CONTROL MY FIRE!"
"If I can't hit you in close range," Natsu built up the magic in his mouth. "FIRE DRAGON: ROAR!"
A stream of flames erupted from the dragon slayers mouth and traveled towards his opponent and just like earlier the attack veered off course and destroyed a wall.
"Hmph, is that all?" Totomaru asked with his eyes closed. "What the—"
Natsu suddenly appeared from the fire and delivered a quick punch to the fire mage. He managed to sidestep the punch causing Natsu to keep going and crash into the wall. The impact caused the building to shake.
The pink-haired boy stood up shakily clutching his stomach. "Don't tell me th-this is a vehicle. Blurg—"
Totomaru turned to leer at his opponent, and when he found the state he was in, he burst out into a fit of laughter. "WOW, THE MIGHTY DRAGON SLAYER OF FAIRY TAIL CAN'T HANDLE A MERE MOVING BUILDING! THAT'S PRICELESS!"
"Natsu the building isn't even working anymore," Happy shook his head in worry for his friend.
"HAH! That was a good laugh," Totomaru composed himself. "Now, to finish you off."
He raised his palms up in the air forming different colored flames in each finger. "Now eat this, my ultimate magic, RAINBOW FIRE!"
The Phantom wizard sent his attack hurtling towards that gagging dragon slayer. The flames combined as they traveled the distance forming a raging tsunami made of fire-colored in a multitude of colors.
Natsu barely recovered from his condition and saw the attack incoming. He stood and faced the attack head-on hiding a smirk under his lips. A few seconds later he was completely engulfed in the flames.
Totomaru huffed as he studied his attack ebb away at the Fairy Tail Wizard. He watched his attack cover the entire area and even he could feel the heat that partially melted the remains of their fallen guild hall. Even that tenacious wizard couldn't have survived that right?
He was wrong.
The blaze that once stood still was now forming a whirlpool in the middle like someone was sucking right down to the last molecule. He watched with wide eyes as the attack was consumed until nothing was left.
"Th-that's—"
"Thanks for the meal," Natsu said wiping his mouth. "You could have held off on the yellow fire you know. That one tasted pathetic."
"But how? I was sure that you wouldn't be able to eat that one!" Totomaru protested.
"Igneel's fire was way hotter than yours could ever hold a candle to," Natsu said matter of factly. "Flames like that would never hurt me."
"Now, to end this," Natsu said creating two flames in his hands.
"With a flame on my right hand and a flame on my left," Natsu chanted. "I put them together and I get… FIRE DRAGON: BRILLIANT FLAME!"
"Haven't you learned anything?" Totomaru asked arrogantly. "Your flames would never hit me!"
He waved his hands in the air to try and control the fire the way he always did in the past. This time it was different. The flames didn't budge, and it was heading straight for him. That caused him to panic and try to run away, but it was too late. The flames caught up with him and burned him to a crisp.
The attack burned everything in sight. Nothing was left untouched in the room from their battle. Even the charred Totomaru lay on his back down on the ground. He was eyeing his opponent who was staring at his hands, just as confused as him. As he was about to lose consciousness, he noticed the faint outline of a red fire dragon standing right behind. His eyes widened briefly before everything faded to black.
Natsu stood there eyeing his hands. For a brief moment, he felt a connection to someone from long ago. The familiar flames that kept him warm at night when he slept as a little boy. "Was that you, dad?"
ELFMAN VS SOL
"I better find them and wrap this up quick!" A white-haired wizard was running through the hall of the guild hall.
He was lost inside the twisting and turning halls of the building. He couldn't get his bearings straight here. He just kept running with hopes that he will run in to someone all of a sudden, and he was right. At one turn, he didn't notice it, but his sandals managed to step on an opening in the ground that looked suspiciously like an eye. That triggered eerie laughter to echo throughout the room.
"Who's there?!" Elfman whirled around to see the source of this laughter.
"Bonjour!" He watched with wide eyes as the ground behind him morphed and out of it sprouted Sol of the Element Four. "Monsieur Elfman, how good it is to get acquainted with you here."
"Perfect timing," Elfman gathered himself and readied himself for a fight. "You can get acquainted with my fist!"
The white-haired wizard raised his fist in the air and activated his magic. "Beast Arm: Black Bull!"
"Oh? How confident of you," Sol commented. "Do you really think you can defeat me with just your arm?"
"It's more than enough for the likes of you!" Elfman declared as he rushed forward for an attack.
Sol was nimble enough to flip in the air avoiding the attack completely. While in his hangtime, he spoke again. "I have intel on all wizards of your pathetic guild. Sable Dance!"
A magic circle appeared in front of Sol and a whirlwind of sand appeared around Elfman causing him to raise his hands in front of his face in defense.
"An attack like this won't—Guaaagh!"
"Roche Concerto!" Sol landed on the ground and waved his hand creating a magic circle. The floor underneath Elfman's feet exploded and pelted him with different-sized attacks.
"ARGH!" The Fairy Tail Wizard got up on his feet despite his bruised and bloodied appearance and prepared for an attack, but his fist stopped mere inches from the figure in front of him when it spoke.
"Elf-Nii," The figure said. "You wouldn't hurt me, would you?"
"No, it can't be!" He couldn't believe his eyes. His once dead sister was now here like she never perished in the first place. "H-how are you here?"
"Non non non, remember how dangerous your power is," Sol said appearing behind Elfman his body twisting like a snake around the Strauss's body.
"N-n-no, of course not," Elfman lowered his arm. "I'm sorry. I wouldn't do that again."
"Voila!" Sol returned to normal and kicked him in the stomach knocking him back.
"I suppose it is proper to finish you off with my most powerful attack!" Sol waved his hands around. Magic energy gathered behind sol kicking up dirt. He ended by pointing his closed fist towards the White-Haired Wizard. "Platre Sonata!"
A giant fist made of plaster appeared from a magic circle in front of the wizard punching him through the wall behind him.
"This is the power of the Element 4," Sol said. "I suggest you cease struggling. You have no power over me."
"Urk," Elfman stirred from the attack. He opened his eyes to see Mira being carried by a giant created from shade magic. He flipped to his hands and knees watching his sister get the ever-living daylights squeezed out of her by the creature.
"Mira-Nee!" He raised his arm in the air in a futile attempt to save his sister.
"Elfman! Save yourself!" Mira screamed defiantly despite what the shade was doing to her. "Run!"
"You," Elfman said coldly. "Let her go. Now!"
"I am afraid we can not do that, non," Sol said. "She must be punished for trying to deceive the master. Such a shame though, her magic power has dwindled significantly ever since that time."
"What the hell are you doing?" Elfman growled. "Let her—Guaaah!"
"You can do anything you want to me. Just let Elfman go!" Mira screeched seeing Elfman's predicament.
"I wonder," Sol said as he forced the middle Strauss child to watch his older sister suffer. "Will you have to go through the pain again?"
"Mira-Nee! Wh-why are you crying?!" Elfman yelled out. "I swore I would never see you in tears again, so why are you crying?"
"Please Elfman, don't fight them!" Mira pleaded.
With newfound strength, he managed to get Sol's foot off his head and knock him back. He got shakily to his feet and let the magic flow through his whole body, not just his arm this time. Steam then began to emit from his body as he prepared to transform.
"E-elfman, wh-when did you?"
*FLASHBACK*
"So, Elfman," Naruto stood face to face with the white-haired wizard in an open clearing away from the town. "You still can't do a full body transformation, huh?"
Elfman shook his head. "It only got worse after Lisanna was gone. I never attempted to do one after I almost killed her."
"You know, funny thing, I had almost the same problem when I was younger," Naruto stated.
"Y-you're a take-over wizard too?" Elfman's eyes widened at his revelation. "You're a real man!"
"Uhh, yeah sort of…" Naruto deflected.
"So, why don't you use it anymore?" He asked.
"Well, I learned more magic so I could fit it, y'know," The blonde explained.
"What are we doing here then? Don't you and Lucy have a job to do today?" Elfman asked.
"We're taking a break today, so we're going to train today!" Naruto answered enthusiastically.
"What are we going to train?" Elfman tilted his head.
"A full-body takeover of course!" Naruto answered.
The white-haired wizard was horrified by the blonde's answer. "No way!" Elfman protested. "What if I go berserk again?!"
"Relax," Naruto said with a nice guy pose. "That's why I'm here. I won't let you hurt anyone."
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Thank you, Naruto," Elfman muttered to himself as he flared his magic even more.
"Hm, what's is this?" Sol fingered his monocle surprised by what the takeover wizard was trying to do.
"I'LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR MAKING MIRA-NEE CRY!" Elfman yelled. "TAKE OVER: BEAST SOUL!"
A/N: I felt so empty taking that break. I really missed writing. Well, at least I'm refreshed now, but I still have to ease myself back into the mood so pardon me if this seems different than before. See ya next time!
