The ambulance carrying Emma arrived at the hospital and she was rushed into the ER. Troy had to wait in the emergency room, and all he could think about was the person who attacked Emma and what he said.

Troy: Emma, please be okay. I can't do this again.

?: Troy.

Troy looked up and saw Dextra standing in front of him.

Troy: What are you doing here?

Dextra: I heard about your sister. What happened?

Troy: Some guy in a metal mask who called himself Vetrix attacked my sister. He said he took her soul.

Dextra: What?! That shouldn't be possible.

Troy: That's all he said. I can't believe this is happening again.

Dextra: What do you mean?

Before Troy could answer, one of the doctors came through the doors and up to them.

Troy: Is my sister okay?

Doctor: I'm afraid she's the same as the other victims we've been seeing lately. I'm sorry. We'll do everything we can, but for now, there's no telling if your sister will ever awaken.

Dextra: Troy, I'm so sorry. Troy, where are you going?

He didn't answer and walked out of the building.

Dextra: Troy, just don't do anything reckless.

Troy made his way back home and got into the garage. He knew what he was looking for and where it was. He made his way to the back of the garage and pulled the dust cover off his dad's old motorcycle. He had been warned a hundred times by his sister to leave his dad's bike alone, but right now, he didn't care. He opened the garage door and drove out on his dad's bike.

96: Out for a late-night drive?

Troy: Find me a number holder.

96: With pleasure.

The next morning, Dextra was in her living room watching the morning news when a breaking story came in.

Reporter: We come to you live from an alleyway where last night, six duelists where viciously attacked. They all reported being challenged to a duel by a teenager riding a black motorcycle. Those who refused claimed a black energy chain grabbed their wrist and wouldn't release them until they dueled. Fortunately, there were no major injuries. Sir, could you tell us what happened to you last night?

Victim: This kid came out of nowhere. He wanted to duel and wouldn't take no for an answer.

Reporter: And how skilled would you say your opponent was?

Victim: I lost before I even knew what happened. He was easily the fiercest duelist I've ever seen.

Reporter: So far, the only thing linking the victims together is that before they dueled, they all possessed an alleged "number card", which they reported were forfeited to their opponent upon losing. I don't know who is behind these attacks, but I can safely say that no one with a number card is safe.

Dextra: Troy, what have you done?

Later that day, she arrived at Heartland Tower and searched for Troy. When she finally found him, he was getting ready to leave the building.

Dextra: Troy!

Troy: What do you want Dextra?

Dextra: Troy, what happened last night?

Troy: I don't know what you're talking about.

Dextra: Don't lie to me Troy. I saw the report this morning. You took out six duelists in one night by yourself.

Troy: So what? I'm doing my job, which you're keeping me from.

Dextra: Troy, you're not acting like yourself.

Troy: I'm fine.

Dextra: This is about your sister, isn't it?

Troy: It's none of your business. Now get out of my way, unless you want to duel me.

Dextra: Troy, I understand you're angry, but is attacking random strangers really going to make you feel any better?

Troy: Leave me alone Dextra. What I do is my business, now stand aside.

Dextra: Not until you tell me why you're doing this.

Troy: Because it's my fault!

Troy couldn't hold it back anymore and dropped to his knees and started crying. Dextra bent down and put her arms on his shoulders.

Dextra: Troy, calm down. How is this your fault?

Troy: Everything about this is my fault. Emma, me, my parents. All of it is because of me.

Dextra: What do you mean?

Troy: It all happened four years ago. I had gone out into the backyard to play. My dad told me to be careful because he found a sinkhole in the backyard, but I didn't listen to him. I fell right into it and broke my ankle. My parents rushed me and Emma into the car and they drove us to the hospital.

Dextra: So what happened?

Troy: On the way to the hospital, there was an accident with another driver. The last thing I remember happening was Emma throwing her arms around me before we crashed. The next thing I knew, I woke up in the hospital with Emma sitting next to me. I looked at her and I saw her eyes were red from crying. We had survived the crash, but our parents didn't.

Dextra: Troy, it's not your fault.

Troy: Yes, it is. If I had listened to my dad, he and mom would still be here.

Dextra: Troy, that was an accident. There's no way you could've known something like that would happen.

Troy: It doesn't end there.

Dextra: What do you mean?

Troy: Once I got out of the hospital, I started dueling violently. I used dueling as a way to vent my anger on anyone I could. It was like I could hear a voice, telling me to release all the rage I had.

Dextra: I'm so sorry that happened Troy.

Troy: As time went on, I got worse, until one day it happened. I don't remember much from that day, but I remember that I was ready to snap at a moment's notice. I got into an argument with someone from my old school. We turned to a duel, and I went over the edge. I can only ever remember flashes of the duel, but I remember the aftermath clearly.

Dextra: What happened?

Troy: He was hospitalized with near fatal injuries. He almost didn't make it. That's how I got my nickname "The Demon Duelist". Word spread like wildfire, and everyone looked at me like I was cursed. I stopped going to school, I barely even left the house, and I never wanted to duel again.

Dextra: Is that when you moved?

Troy: It was all we could do. Emma saved me. I don't even know what would've happened to me if she hadn't been there to help me.

Dextra: Troy, I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Troy: Not as sorry as Vetrix is going to be once I'm through with him. I'll make him regret the day he ever decided to hurt my sister. I don't care what I have to do to make him suffer for this. He said he was going to be in the finals, and I intend to be ready to face him then.

Dextra: So that's why you attacked all those duelists last night.

Troy: Yeah, for their number cards. And I'll keep going until I get every number card I can find. And when I meet Vetrix in the finals, I'll use them to grind him to dust.

Dextra: Troy, I can see that I can't stop you, but please, just promise you'll be careful.

Troy: Okay, I promise.

Dextra: Troy, you feel like you're responsible for what happened to your sister. I promise, Vetrix won't get away with this. I won't let him hurt you, Kite, or anyone anymore.
