William walked beside Yugi as they headed towards the school. Today was William's very first day at Domino High school. Some students looked at William who shifted a bit uncomfortably from the many stares as the echoes of the harsh words from his past replayed in his mind. He was pulled from his memories of the past when Yugi touched his arm.
"William, you okay?" He asked in concern.
"Yeah...just a bit nervous, I guess." William lied with a nervous grin. Yugi didn't fully believe him but did not press the matter further.
"Yugi." Tea said as she approached them.
"Hi Tea." Yugi said grinning. Tea than looked at William in curiosity. Upon seeing her curious stare William gave a soft smile.
"I'm William Dracon, Yugi's house guest until my memories return. It's nice to meet you." William said softly. Tea blinked for a moment before she gave him a suspicious stare at first but it quickly softened much to William's relief.
"Likewise...I'm Tea Gardner." She said softly. "I know that the whole school was informed on how we would be having a new student suffering from amnesia, who was now living with Yugi. However no one told us how you loss your memory though." She added.
"I see...well the truth is I was struck by lightning." William said as Tea's eyes widen in alarm as she than noticed his bandaged up hand.
"You're lucky to still be alive." She said with wide eyes.
"I got very lucky that Yugi found me when he did. I basically owe Yugi my life, he's the hero in this story." William said with a grin. If only they knew how accurate the hero comment actually is.
"You don't owe me anything!" Yugi said getting embarrassed as William and Tea shared a quick smile. Any concerns Tea might of had about him seemed to have disappeared during their conversation as they talked while heading to class. William luckily had most of his classes with Yugi and Tea, however he had three classes without Yugi or Tea being there.
Chorus, Advanced computers and Art were the only three classes William would have without them. However William was shown where those classes were so he wouldn't get lost. He silently noted how big the school actually was and in all honesty it was three times larger than what the anime or even what the manga had shown. The teacher noticed William and called him over so they could talk. Yugi and Tea gave him a smile before entering their classroom.
William had to wait to be introduced to the class before fully entering the room. So for a few minutes he had to wait outside the room. The class was alive with excited whispers that William could hear from the room. William sighed as he ran a hand through his hair.
I can do this...just be calm...no one here knows of my past...just maybe i can have a couple of normal school years without being reminded of that day when my life went to hell. William thought to himself.
"I heard we got a new student. I hope its a cute single guy."
"oh i know...I just hope he's handsome."
"Maybe i can finally get a boyfriend!" A few girls were happily talking away about Their newest student as Tea and Yugi walked pass them. Yugi smiled nervously as he wondered how William would handle the attention by the girls in their class.
"No way, i hope its a girl." A boy said.
"I don't care if it is a girl or a guy as long as they don't try taking my girlfriend away." A boy growled.
"Don't get jealous, you know i only have eyes for you. I heard the new student lost their memories in a horrible accident and is now living with that Yugi, kid. I can't imagine what it must be like not to remember anything...i bet he or she doesn't even remember their parents." A girl said.
"That has to suck, i almost feel bad for the new student on not having any memories of his family." A boy said.
The teacher smiled as he entered the classroom as he got his students attention. "Class as you are aware we have a new student joining us. I want everyone to be nice to him. He is currently suffering from amnesia, so i must ask all of you not to overwhelm him." The teacher said.
"Damn, so the new student is a guy, and not a girl. What a drag!" A boy complained loudly.
William than entered the class and stood by the teacher. "Everyone this is William Dracon."
"It's nice to meet everyone." William said softly with what he hoped was friendly smile and not one of those smiles that screamed 'I am going to eat your soul, if you piss me off!' type of smile.
"William, please go take your seat behind, Yugi." The teacher said. William walked to the empty desk and quickly took his seat. He was ignoring the looks his classmates gave him. He almost shuddered at the looks the girls were especially giving him. The creepy fan girl stare.
The classes went on like normal. William silently took notes down and followed each lesson intently while trying to ignore the stares the girls were giving him. Two empty desks caught his attention.
Wasn't Tristan and Joey in Yugi's class? William wondered as he than looked around. The door flew open as the two raced into the room. Speak of the two devils and they will appear.
"You two are late!" The teacher spat.
"Sorry, we over slept." They apologized.
"Go take your seats and try not to interrupt the class." The teacher said in annoyance. They took their seats. William than noticed two other empty desks.
Hmmm...I bet that's Kaiba's desk up there as well as Ryou Bakura's desk when he arrives...he will be right beside me. William silently noted. He glanced at his bracelet before focusing back on his school work as everything went back to normal.
When recess came William found himself suddenly swarmed by the crazy fan girls. "Let's give ya a tour of the school!" They giggled as they began dragging him away. William had no time to protest as he was pulled out of the room by them. He quickly sent pleading looks to Yugi and Tea as he mouthed the words, help me!
Yugi and Tea couldn't help but laugh softly at that. "I better go keep an eye on him. He looks like he is terrified of girls." Tea laughed.
"I don't think he is afraid of girls, at least not entirely." Yugi said nervously with a smile. Tea got up to rescue William. Yugi than pulled out a few of his games, when a few students caught his attention.
"Hey Yugi, we are going to go play Basketball. Want to join us?!" they asked.
"No thank you, besides any team i join would most likely loose." Yugi said.
"You sure?" They asked.
"yeah." Yugi said.
"Okay. If ya change your mind you know where to find us!" They said as they left with their group of friends.
Yugi sighed as he wondered what game to play before he smiled. oh right, i could always finish the puzzle that i carry around! Yugi thought in excitement as he pulled out a small gold Egyptian style box. Completely unaware two boys were approaching him.
William was being as polite as he could be as the girls showed him around the school but in all honestly he found them to be highly annoying as as irritating. "So handsome, got a girlfriend?" one of the girls asked in a flirty voice.
"I had a girlfriend." He said softly with a frown.
"Oh did she dump you?" a girl teased. William's eyes showed shock before they narrowed in rage.
"You should date one of us." a girl laughed as his anger began to rise.
"What a loser, your girlfriend had to have been. Especially if she got rid of a cute, nice, good looking guy like you." a girl giggled. Those were the words that pushed him over the line of being calm.
"She was murdered in cold blood, as she died saving my life." He said sharply. The smiles and giggles stopped instantly as they stared at him. William had a icy cold unforgiving stare on his face that made him look like a wolf snarling and waiting to strike. The girls all gulped in fear as they backed away from him.
"I do have some of my memories but not all of them. Just so we are crystal clear, my heart will always belong to her and her alone. I might one day try dating someone again, maybe even fall in love to some degree and maybe even one day marry and have kids if it is in my future. However my shattered heart will never truly or honestly be happy or ever fully be healed. I am honestly broken beyond repair and you'll just get yourselves hurt if you try seeking out a relationship more than friendship or sibling bond with me. However i do appreciate that you girls are taking this time to show me around the school, but i think i can find my own way around from here." He said sharply.
"We're sorry...we didn't know, William." A girl said.
"Yeah...it was rather rude of us...please accept our apologies." Another said as she looked at him.
"It's fine...but it's one memory I wish stayed forgotten. Please excuse me." William said as he swiftly walked away from them before his temper got the better of him.
He entered the boys rest room and placed his hands onto the rim of the sink hard enough to crack the porcelain under his hands. His memories replayed in his mind until they became overwhelming.
With a loud inhuman snarl that honestly sounded like a wolf snarling, he than slammed his left fist into the mirror with enough force to completely shattered it. A few tears rolled down his face as his body shook. The bracelet on his wrist trembled slightly.
He very slowly raised his head as his eyes now appeared to be a bright yellow color just as the shadow on the wall took the form of Anubis.
Yugi was about to open the box when a hand suddenly grabbed it and lifted it up off the desk. Yugi looked up only to see it was Tristan Taylor and Joey Wheeler. "What do we have here? A prize for being creepy?" Tristan taunted him.
"Give it back, Tristan!" Yugi yelled as he stood up as Tristan held it over his head making Yugi jump for it.
"Here Joey, catch!" Tristan laughed as he tossed it to him.
Joey caught it and smirked. "You sound like girl, since only a girl would care about some dumb box. Just watching you makes me sick." Joey said as he tossed it back to Tristan who snickered.
"Ah! Be careful with it!" Yugi yelled in fear of it opening and spilling everything out.
"We are being careful. Right, Joey?" Tristan snickered as he tossed it back to Joey who caught it.
Joey than gain a serious expression."Yeah. Besides starting right now, I'm gonna teach ya how to be a man, Yugi! If you want the box back than come at me with everything you got!"
I hate fighting!!!!" Yugi yelled as he tried jumping up for his box when joey tossed it back to Tristan.
"You got no guts." Tristan laughed.
"Shut up, Tristan!" Joey spat at him. Tristan rolled his eyes before tossing it back to Joey.
"Can i just please have it back, Joey?" Yugi asked him.
"No way shorty, You have to fight us." Tristan said.
"What's in here anyways?" Joey asked as he went to open it.
"You can look! Just please don't loose anything, it's really important to me!" Yugi said as he started to get worried.
Joey opened it to take a peek inside. He than closed it and sighed ."How stupid, here Tristan catch!" Joey said as he tossed the box, but he accidentally threw it a bit too hard as Tristan missed catching it just as the class room door was opening. Their eyes all widen in horror as they began panicking.
Tea was looking around for William when she saw the girls looking guilty as they passed her. "I didn't mean to upset William, like that. I never knew his girlfriend was murdered in cold blood while saving him. I feel like the biggest jerk ever." She said frowning.
"It's a tragic romance if you really think about it. She gave up her life to save her true love and even though she died, he is still as very much loyal as well as devoted to her as when she was alive. It's like Romeo and Juliet. I wish i had a guy like that." A girl said in a dreamy voice.
"However did you see how scary he got?" another said shuddering.
"Yeah...i mean it was like looking at a wolf getting ready to strike or something."
"I know we could call him the red wolf of Domino High..." A girl suggested as they walked right pass Tea who was frozen on the spot in alarm. She hurried down the hallway until she saw William exiting the boy's rest room. She ran over to him as tears ran down her face. William turned only to be hugged by Tea who was crying against him.
"Tea, is everything okay? Why are you crying?" William asked in concern.
"I over heard that you lost your girlfriend...and that you remember that incident...I-" Tea started.
"Tea...it happened a few years ago. I know I should move on but my heart refuses to do so. Those creepy fan girls got under my skin as I got a bit pissed as I let out one secret, I wasn't ready to share or talk about...Tea, i'm fine really. So more tears, okay?" William said as they pulled away.
"William, if you don't mind me asking...what happened to her?" Tea asked as she dried her tears as they walked back towards the classroom.
"I honestly rather not talk about it...maybe one say I will open up about the details in full. However all you need to know is that she died saving my life." William said softly.
"You know you can tell Yugi and I anything, right?" Tea asked him softly as she touched his shoulder in concern.
"I know...but this is one subject...I rather leave in the past until I am ready to talk about it." William said as he ran a hand through his hair nervously. Tea didn't press the issue any further as they headed to their classroom. William opened the door as he entered the classroom first only for a golden Egyptian style box to sudden slam hard into his face just as his nose made a sickening crack sound upon impact.
"Mother fucker!!!!" William shouted in pain automatically upon the impact as he somehow caught the box in his left hand as his right hand slapped over his bleeding nose. "Fuck, that hurt!!!!" He cursed loudly.
For a brief moment a odd memory came to him. He appeared to be inside that of an Egyptian palace. He had just opened a door and had something hard thrown into his face as Pharaoh Atem, A guard who looked like Joey, another two guards resembling Duke Devlin as well as Marik, and Priest Seto stood there all starring in horror at what just happened.
"William, are you alright!? Just what the hell is going on here!?" Tea asked in concern pulling William out his thoughts while Yugi, Joey and Tristan had similar horrified looks on their faces as to what he just saw.
"Oh shit, it's Tea!" Tristan said as she than snarled and approached the two trouble makers.
"You two should be ashamed of yourselves for picking on Yugi, this is going too far! Also William is suffering from amnesia and you two idiots most likely broke his nose or made his memory loss even worse, just now!!!! Joey, Tristan, you two are the worse!!!" Tea shouted.
"Wait...that's the new kid with memory loss?!" Joey and Tristan shouted as they stared in horror. William walked pass them as he gave Yugi back the box as he turned with a deep inhuman snarl that sounded like a growling wolf. His eyes were a extremely bright yellow color.
"Which one of you threw the box?" William asked so coldly as he still held his bleeding nose. His very presence made Joey and Tristan pale as they swore they were standing in front of a pissed off wolf that was about to rip them apart.
"Joey, did it." Tristan said quickly.
"Hey man, it was you who started it! Also it was an accident." Joey said nervously.
"I'm not one to start fights, but i will finish one in any way possible. However in this case it clearly was an accident, under poor judgment and bad timing on my part...i'm just glad it was me and not Tea who got hit...look just be careful next time. Also if I catch you two picking on Yugi, I will not be so forgiving next time." William said as he forced himself to calm down. "You might of just broken my fucken nose though." He added.
"Just get the hell out of here you two!" Tea snapped as the two ran out of the room.
"Are you okay?" Yugi asked in concern as he approached William.
"No idea...but I might have to see the nurse...for now I'll just clog up my nose with tissues and see if it stops." William said as he grabbed tissues to stuff up his nose before washing his hands in the classroom sink. "By the way what's with the gold box of death, Yugi?"
"Gold box of death?" Yugi and Tea asked in confusion.
"If that little golden box had hit any harder into my face, it could have killed me...by breaking my neck or something." William grumbled.
"I see...sorry about Joey and Tristan...they were just trying to help me become more of a man." Yugi said as he explained what happened.
"Sounds more like bullying to me." William said frowning.
"Don't apologize for them, Yugi. Joey and Tristan knew what they were doing was wrong...if anything they are the one who should be apologizing to William." Tea said.
"Let it go...Tea. It was an accident and I could tell on their faces they feel bad about hurting me." William said.
"If you say so...by the way Yugi, what is this?" Tea asked.
"Oh right...I never shown this to either of you." Yugi said as he opened it reveal gold shattered pieces of something inside the box that sparkled a bit in the light.
"Oh wow! It's so pretty." Tea said as she picked up a few pieces.
"Yugi...is this a golden puzzle or something?" William asked even though he felt rather stupid for asking when it clearly was a puzzle made of gold and the fact he even knew it was a puzzle made of gold.
"Yep! You see...I have never finished it so i have no idea what it actually looks like." Yugi said. "As you guys know, my family owns a game shop. We sell all kinds of unusual and unique games from around the world. Years ago, i found this on a shelf covered in dust in the very back...with permission from my grandpa I was allowed to keep it for myself. This is a memento from my grandpa, so it's very important to me."
"Uh Yugi, I really think you should clarify that last sentence-" William said but the damage had already been done. Tea's eyes widen in horror as her mouth hung open in shock.
"Your grandpa died!?" She said loudly in alarm making William's face drop a bit.
"No Tea, he's still very much alive." William said but it went unheard.
"I see...so this makes it very important to you than." She said softly.
"Yugi, what do you know of the puzzle?" William asked softly.
"It's from Egypt, and they say it was found in an Egyptian ruin. See these hieroglyphs carved around the box, I bet they say something like this...whoever solves this puzzle shall be granted one wish." Yugi laughed as William picked up the box with his left hand to get a good look at it.
"Actually it reads, the one who solves me, shall gain powers and knowledge of darkness." William said making Tea and Yugi turn to look at him.
"What? I can read and write in ancient Egyptian, it use to piss my teachers off since my friends and i would take all of our notes in the language." William said sighing.
"So how long have you been working on this, Yugi?" Tea asked softly.
"Eight years and i have never solved it. It's honestly rather depressing..." Yugi said softly as he looked rather defeated.
"Don't give up Yugi, you poured your heart and soul into this! I bet your wish will come true, right William?" Tea asked him.
"I might not have known you as long as Tea has, but if anyone can solve this puzzle it's you, Yugi. We got full faith in you, so don't give up." William said firmly.
"I'll do my best." Yugi said grinning. "Hey did your nose stop bleeding, William?" William blinked for a moment as he than moved the tissues away and more blood gushed out.
"Nope! Ugh...think you two can lead me to the nurse's office for medical treatment?" He asked reluctantly as he slapped his hand over his nose again. Yugi put his puzzle away before Tea and Yugi than lead him to the nurse's office.
