Chapter 7: Resurrection
"Alright Percy keep going. But that Zalty person has some weird magic. He was able to repair the temple's support beams instantly." Natsu warns his little brother.
Percy feels the ground for a moment. In addition to water magic, he also can track movements within the earth. Any changes to the earth he's standing around would be sent to him. He studies the changes and deduces "Not repair the temple but undo the damage. But that's not possible"
"True it isn't. At least not for those who do not use Time magic." They both look up and see Zalty hovering over them. "Oi stop using that form. I can tell you're a woman under that disguise." Natsu had been studying Zalty sniffing trying to get "his" scent but different perfumes kept getting in the way.
"Wait Natsu are you saying that the person in front of us a woman dressing up as a man?" Percy slightly nauseated at the thought keeps focusing on Ur's water. Zalty laughs as light engulfs him only to reveal a well-endowed brunette wearing a white dress.
Natsu and Percy are shocked. That was Ultear of the Magic Council! "Why are you even trying to revive Deliora? Don't you know the damage this thing has caused." Natsu yells at her.
"Sorry little dragon but that is my business. But do tell what are you trying to do little one?" Ultear asks Percy who ignores her and keeps focusing on the ice. "You do realize that no matter how much you enforce the ice it will melt right? Then again youngsters these days are so quick to act. Unless of course youre trying to revive someone?" Percy isn't shocked after all she's well versed in the magic itself. He has to keep going. "Didn't your mother ever tell you that it's rude to ignore someone when they're talking to you?" Ultear yells, finally breaking his concentration.
"For your information yes she did but she also told me to avoid talking to people who dress up as skanks as they're nothing but trouble" Percy fires back. Enraged Ultear creates crystals to launch at the kid only for Natsu to step up and burn them down with a breath attack. Percy returns to focus on collecting Ur's essence as the ice begins to melt faster.
On top of the temple.
Lucy and Erza had already cleared a path and make their way to the top of the temple to make sure no one starts the process of Moon Drip. With every person taken down the light coming from the moon shrinks.
"Let's hope Percy found Natsu quick. We can't have Deliora come back with Percy still on the island." Erza states as she takes down another worshipper.
"Don't worry if Percy didn't find him then Natsu definitely would find Percy. Im more concerned about Gray. That last statement he said." Lucy responds
"It means Lyon is, whether knowingly or unknowingly, trying to end end Ur's life." Erza solemnly states
"Erza do you think Percy could make sure Ur is revived? I mean he can manipulate the water."
Erza stops as she ponders that thought. "Now it makes sense. Why Percy wanted to come. He felt someone needing his help. And Percy could definitely revive Ur. But still we have to hurry. Don't let up now" Erza says as she keeps up the pressure.
Inside the Temple
Gray and Lyon stood across from each other still shocked by what had happened previously. Lyon broke the silence, "Gray were you counting on your friend to stop you?"
Gray couldn't answer truthfully, he was being selfish and Natsu had pointed it out that there was something to live for. "I blamed myself all these years for what happened to Ur. And I was prepared to do the same thing that Ur did as penance for what I did. But in my anger I had forgotten how important family is and now I plan on living for mine. Lyon you need to know something, Ur is still alive she's just part of Iced Shell."
Lyon paused for a few moments "And your point is?" Gray looked up stunned only for Lyon to send him crashing with an Ice tiger. Lyon laughs at Gray like a madman possessed "It doesn't matter whether Ur is alive or dead. What matters is that I will surpass her by defeating the one thing she couldn't" Gray pulled himself up his anger returning but this time fueling him. Lyon decides to end it with another Ice Tiger only for it to be trapped in an Ice cage
"You never did learn Lyon. Ur taught us to use both hands when creating constructs as to provide stability." Gray scolds Lyon as he prepares an Ice Hammer which smashes another wild ice construct. "Shut up Gray I'm superior to Ur in every way." "The only thing that you're superior at is running your mouth. Ur wanted us to live our lives happy free of pain." Lyon's anger just forces him to lose control as more and more constructs her creates with only one hand don't even target Gray. Gray sensing that this is it for him prepares himself as he uses both hands to create an Ice Cannon. Once its ready he fires it at his old peer and classmate.
All of a sudden he hears a roar and runs down to the demon.
Derliora's Cage.
Natsu and Ultear have been testing each other as Percy keeps containing the waters that hold Ur's life force together. The Ice has been melting and soon the demon would be free and Ur would be revived. Natsu dodges another set of crystals as he asks "You control time magic but if that's the case why did you need Moon Drip to melt the ice?"
Percy responds "Because her magic doesn't allow her to manipulate time on living beings. And considering the fact that I can still sense Ur's life force, you couldn't remove the ice."
Ultear smiles at the kid as she sighs, "Such a shame that such a bright mind is wasted on pathetic displays."
"Hey my pranks are awesome and well planned unlike this crap," Percy yells back at Ultear who smiles as she sends another set of crystals at Natsu pinning him down. "And why do you say that?" Ultear asks as she approaches Percy. Percy stomps his feet to the ground sending her up in the air just enough for Natsu to jump out and punch her hard in the stomach sending her to wall opposite of Deliora.
"Because Deliora was dead all along. Spend enough time encased in ice without being able to breath will weaken the body significantly. I say that he has one last gasp left before he dies." Percy says as the Ice has completely melted. Percy then ignores the demon's roar, as Natsu stands over him protectively, and brings his palms together forcing the waters that were once Ur to collide with one another. As the demon takes its final steps, Gray bursts into the room while Lyon crawls into it trying to act strong as he attempts to take the demon down. Gray begins to use Iced Shell but he sees Percy focusing on something while Natsu stood over him, and looking further he sees water being shaped into a human being. Lucy and Erza make their way down and begin to prepare only for the demon to fall to the lake disintegrating.
"No!" Lyon croaks. "I was supposed to surpass her"
"No she never wanted us to surpass her. She wanted us to live our lives fully," Gray corrects his old friend.
"How about you ask her yourself Gray now let me concentrate." Percy yells as he keeps molding the water into its prior form. And after a full minute the body of Ur has been restored. Percy himself collapses due to exhaustion as the process took a bit too much out of him.
Gray and Lyon couldn't believe it. Their mentor was laying on the ground right in front of them revived by a young boy not even a teenager. The only thing wrong was that she was missing her right leg. Erza and Natsu looked down at Percy with pride doing something no one had thought possible as it was rarely done. Lucy felt so happy for Gray and Lyon seeing their mentor alive and well when suddenly Aquarius's key glowed again. Steeling herself she walked towards the river and summoned the mermaid. Natsu Gray and Erza meeting the celestial spirit for the first time were astonished by the way she looked.
"Aquarius what did you want to talk about?" The mermaid looked at the boy with a large smile and grabbed him lifting him up. "No doubt about it you really are the son of Poseidon" She screams happily.
Erza grabs Percy away from the spirit and angrily yells "What on earth or spirit world do you think you're doing grabbing him like that without caution?! And what's this about Poseidon?" Gray and Natsu have the same question in mind while Lucy explains "As a celestial spirit, she lives in a different dimension. As such she's watched other worlds. But Aquarius, a son of a god? Even that is stretching my beliefs."
Aquarius looked downright pissed when Erza yelled at her "Listen armor freak, the next time you raise your voice at me you and I are going to have serious problems understand." "And the next time you grab Percy away as he sleeps I won't let you survive long enough for you to go back" Erza responds in kind to Aquarius's threat. The two alpha females glare at each other over the boy's resting form while Lucy tries to calm the two down. She looks at Gray and Natsu only to find them as far away as possible while Happy flies away. "Of course they're running. Listen can we continue this discussion another time we still need to get out of this place." Aquarius studies her charge and huffs. "Very well then summon me when you're near water again we can discuss his origin later. And you better watch where you summon me little girl cause I better not come out of a sinkhole understand!" Lucy nods rapidly as Aquarius closes her own gate.
Erza, still mad at the mermaid for how she treated Percy, takes a breath before carrying Percy as the two ladies walk towards Ur. "Natsu carry Lyon and take him with us. Gray carry your old mentor. We have a lot to discuss." The two mages don't want to piss Erza off whatsoever so they do exactly what she says.
Top of the temple.
Ur feels strange. She knows its been some time ever since she cast the spell but yet how is she still alive? She opens her eyes to find Gray, one of her students, all grown up. "G..Gray is that you?" she asks. Gray with tears in his eyes hugs his former mentor as she's still stunned over how she's back to life. She returns the hug just as fiercely as she marvels over how he's grown. She sees three other mages behind him, a redheaded armored mage, a blond celestial mage, while the third seems to be a fire mage of sorts with pink hair. She looks at the redehead as she holds a child with black messy hair. "Where are we?" Ur asks.
Gray smiles as he lets her go "On a cursed island. Deliora was brought here in order to dispel the Iced Shell trapping him. I guess due to his affinity with water, our young mage here was able to bring you back"
Ur takes in what her student says but she comes up with multiple questions. "Even if there was a way to dispel Iced Shell, how did he bring me back? Water mages though powerful are not that strong to revive the castor."
The armor mage walks closer and brings the child to her "True but we believe that Percy is more than just a water mage. His affinity with the water is deeper than any known water mage." Ur takes this in and smiles before seeing her missing leg. The red head begins to apologize on behalf of Percy before Ur stops her "Don't worry I had lost that leg long ago, and considering how he's resting the whole ordeal had to take a lot out of the boy. Now what's next?"
Erza then stands up and says "We need to finish the job." Gray, Natsu, and Lucy all stop confused "But didn't we just do that? I thought the demon was responsible for the curse" Lucy questions the armored mage.
Erza shakes her head. "Lyon and his team were here for a while yet not a single member looks cursed in any way" she says as she makes her way to Lyon as he woke up recently and tried to avoid looking at Ur ashamed "Lyon do you know what's causing the villagers to appear as demons by night?" Erza asks.
He shakes his head "No. We've been here for 3 years trying to dispel Deliora but we don't know how the curse operates. None of us have experienced any changes whatsoever." Erza takes this into account before deciding "The curse was caused by Moon Drip's enormous magical energy. That is why the villagers acted this way." Lyon pipes in "We never had interacted with the inhabitants before and they didn't come to the ruins."
All of a sudden Percy stirs as he moves his hand upwards pointing at the sky. Erza startled puts him down where Percy sits up. "There's something covering the island. I don't know if it's involved but its blocking the moon." He begins to stand up but his legs won't respond and as he falls Erza grabs him. "You've done so much Percy but for now let us finish this okay." Erza gently persuades him.
Percy already exhausted leans on Erza as she stands up. "Well then Natsu, Lucy, help Ur. We need to finish this quest" Erza commands.
Back to the Village.
The party is shocked as the village seems to have been brought back to normal. "How could this have happened?" Erza ponders as she had seen the village in ruins. Natsu and Percy look at each other knowing exactly who could've pulled that off. The demon chief comes up to them with the entire village behind them "Thank for restoring our village back to the way it was. Have you come to destroy the moon?" Erza responds, "Yes but before we do I have a few questions for you. You said that you turn into demons when moon glows purple. And considering what we had learned this has been going on for the past three years." She says as she paces around the village. Percy looks and sees a pitfall where she's going to walk into unknowingly. "Erza you may want to" "However, Moon Drip has been activated every night in the past three years. You should have been able to see the light from the ruins every da….KYA!" she screams as she falls into the pit.
"Well whoever did it congratulations you made Erza mad." Percy says as he looks at the four who are still shocked. Lucy is absolutely horrified, may have been her handiwork, while Natsu and Gray comment on how cute her scream sounded. But in typical Erza fashion she doesn't let that stop her as she continues "As such you could've gone and investigated the temple as the source of light. So why didn't you investigate?"
The village chief ponders the question and takes a deep breath. He doesn't try to bring up traditions as that was not even close to the truth and the mages have done so much for them "We have tried to investigate but whenever we got close to the ruins we would find our way back to village entrance. We do not know why this happens. I am sorry for not telling you this earlier. We did not think you would believe us." Erza understands while Percy ponders this. As he sits trying to digest the new information, Erza states calmly "Very well, we will destroy the moon." Shocking everyone in the group except for Percy who knows exactly what she plans on doing.
"RE-EQUIP! GIANT ARMOR" Erza yells as she transforms her armor into the large yellow armor that boosts her throwing power. "This armor allows me to throw things further. And also" she summons a large spear. "This is the spear of Haja it wards of darkness" she explains wowing the crowd. Percy reminds her "You're going to need more than that Erza." Erza nods and turns to Natsu "Natsu, Percy is correct I need your help in order to destroy the moon. At my command you are to hit the butt of the spear as hard as you can. Got it?" Natsu smashes his fists together as they walk to the village watchtower.
Gray and Lucy look at Percy "What do you think you're doing?" Ur smiles and can see what Erza has planned "Gray relax and watch the show" She says as she leans back on a hut's wall
"Ready Natsu?" Erza questions as she aims for the moon. Natsu takes a running stance behind Erza and ignites his fists, "I'm ready Erza." "Then do it now." Natsu runs towards Erza while raising his fists "FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST" he shouts as he punches the butt of the spear hard. Erza then throws the spear and combined with the boosts of her armor and Natsu's flames, the spear speeds towards the moon. All of a sudden it appears as if the moon has cracked, cheering the villagers while the three look on. But Percy smiles as the cracks spread away from the moon before breaking leaving the moon intact.
Shocked the villagers don't realize what has happened. They could tell the curse has been lifted yet they still appear as demons. Lucy and Gray are about to ask why, but Percy answers "The reason they appear as demons is because they are demons. They just have the ability of turning into humans." Ur pipes in "When the Moon Drip was used to dispel me, it created a large membrane of magic that covered the entire island, it affected their memory, making them believe they were humans at day who transformed into demons at night." All of a sudden a red demon with wings walks over to the village. "I'm so happy to see you guys get your memory back." The village chief looks at the newcomer and is brought to tears "BOBO my son" he yells as the two share a hug surrounded by the villagers.
Percy looks down as father and son have a moment together and Lucy notices that. It's the second time she's seen him in such pain. Gray rubs Percy's back letting him know he's no alone, which Percy appreciates. Ur looks on as she rubs an unshed tear away at the sight of her student helping out his friend.
The villagers celebrate the occasion inviting the mages to a demon festival, where food and drinks have been brought in for everyone to enjoy. Everyone had a great time, even though Gray had to run from several demon women who found him attractive bringing everyone to laugh. Percy found himself in a similar boat as so many demon girls found him attractive and started chasing him forcing him to run with Gray as fast as they could. Natsu, Happy, and Erza couldn't stop laughing about time Percy got a taste of his own medicine while Lucy looked on with a bright smile.
In the morning.
"We would like to thank you Fairy Tail for taking the time to help us. Here this is the reward for breaking the curse." The village chief says as a chest filled with reward money. Erza however declines. "I am truly grateful but unfortunately the guild didn't officially accept the mission. However if you still feel the need to reward us then the celestial key would be enough." The chief smiles at the armor mage handing her the Golden Key of Sagitarius. The party make their way back to the ship where Lucy, Gray, and Natsu are shocked to find a pirate ship waiting for them. "How did you get a pirate ship to help you two across?" Ur asks as she leans on Lucy. "The pirates were rather fond of me." Erza comments with Percy coughing into his hand while whispering "bull shit!" as they make their way to the ship. The crew welcome them in open arms while Percy runs to the steering wheel. "Pull the anchor boys" he yells as he turns the ship. Ur, Gray, and Lucy look at Erza with wide eyes "YOURE LETTING HIM STEER THE SHIP" Erza smiles "he actually has a talent for it" as they sail back to Hargeon Port.
Wow that was my longest chapter so far. Alright recap: Ur is alive, yes I know in the anime she basically is watching over her students and helps Gray in his fight against Ultear but I wanted to showcase that Percy was on another level with his affinity to water. Second Natsu and Percy recognizing Ultear, if you remember Percy was suspected of pranking the entire Magic Council they just never proved it was him. Oh and as for Lyon, don't worry I'm not planning on leaving him on the island.
Next time: Aquarius explains more about Percy's relationship and while helping Levy, Percy discovers something devastating.
