Chapter 9: Phantom Lord Strikes
A few days have passed since Percy's freak out over the prophecy. Levy had submitted the translation in and got her reward, but the whole time she dealt with the client she felt something cold within her. She explained what she felt to Makarov who was furious with the whole situation. Ur, feeling out of place, had gone to Porylisca's hut in order to get a new prosthetic leg but she insisted Gray tell him everything that he's gone through. Percy had calmed down after some time with Mira, Erza, and Lucy comforting him but in the back of his mind he wondered: why did the verses bother him so much? Even if it was a prophecy it was years away from being an impact on his life. He chalked it up to the fact that he hated the fact that he read that a person would die due to a single decision which decided the fate of the Pantheon.
To cheer him up Natsu, Gray, Erza, and Lucy took him on a small job which involved body guarding a carriage on its way to the Fiore palace. As the four mages stayed outside, as Natsu adamantly refused to enter the carriage, Percy volunteered to stay inside with the person they were assigned to protect. There he met Hisui, a delightful young girl the same age as he was with green hair, and the two were inseparable. Percy made her laugh with stories of pranks he pulled on his fellow mages while Hisui told him how she used to sneak away from her body guards. Thankfully the trip was handled with no problems, Natsu complaining the whole time as he wanted to break something, and Hisui asked the group to stay as she had something for them. She came back with a bag of jewels which she gave to Percy along with a kiss on the cheek with the hope of meeting again. Percy was blushing so hard steam was coming out of his ears while the others looked shocked before getting evil grins.
The trip home was torture for Percy, as he had to listen to Gray, Natsu, and Happy tease him endlessly while Erza and Lucy made bets, fake of course, on wedding dates. Tired of the three males teasing him, he fired back "Well when's the last time you three had a beautiful girl kiss you?" before walking away, still blushing, as Gray, Happy, and Natsu looked down as the girls laughed. They stopped when they heard Percy yell "WHO DID THIS?!" and ran to him before looking on horrified.
The guild was vandalized. From the top of the building to the entrance, large metal bars pierced the walls. The banner, the symbol of Fairy Tail, was hung limply as the large parts of the guild were on the verge of collapse. Percy had a look of pure rage, as did Natsu, Gray, and Erza, while Lucy had tears in her eyes. "Who could do this?" Percy ran into the guild as did the others before heading down to the underground bunker seeing everyone safe.
Percy ran to his adopted sister and hugged her hard, tears falling as she hugged him back. Erza walks over to Makarov. "Master what happened? Was anyone hurt?" she asks. Mira explains "No one was hurt it appears that whoever did this waited until everyone was out before committing the crime." Elfman pipes in "It was Phantom Lord who did this." Erza, Natsu, and Gray look shocked. Percy asks "What will we do Master? We cannot let this go unprovoked." Makarov sighs "It isn't worth going after hooligans who attacked an empty building." Natsu objects vehemently "Old man we can't just ignore this. This was an attack on the guild itself." Makarov doesn't budge while Percy says, "If we attack Phantom Lord right now, win or lose, they could still claim self-defense."
Makarov nods "So until the building is fixed we'll be taking jobs from here" he states as Natsu storms off. "But to make sure no one gets attacked we must exercise every level of safety" Makarov reiterates as everyone goes on their separate ways.
At night
Percy walks with Mirajane and Elfman making sure to watch his back as they head home. He will not let anything happen to his friends. He feels a burning in his back but doesn't dwell too much on it as it disappears quickly. "So Erza said that you made a friend on this last job" Mira smiles as she reminds him of the last job. "Mira is this really the time to small talk?" Percy begs as he still doesn't feel safe even as they approach the Strauss household.
Phantom Lord
A long black haired teenager with metal eyebrows was busy eating a chunk of iron as his guild mates mess around. The master of the guild, a well-dressed man with dark red hair and a sinister moustache, approaches him "A job well done Gajeel trashing the guild was the first step." "Master Jose, the guild alone isn't going to bother the fairies much" Gajeel finishes his meal as a sadistic smile etches onto his face "That's why I left them another gift." Jose looks impressed "Oh do tell."
The Next Morning
A crowd gathers around a tree in the center of Magnolia's southern park, whispering in shock at the sight before them. Natsu, Erza, and Gray push their way through before seeing a sight that made their blood bowl. On the tree were three members of Fairy Tail, beaten up and crucified with their stomachs having the marks of Phantom Lord painted. The three members were Jet, Droy, and Levy. Makarov couldn't take it anymore. It was one thing that the guild was trashed but now his children were hurt and no way was he going to let that slide. Natsu, Gray, and, Erza pull the three down carrying them to the guild with Makarov following them.
Percy immediately senses something wrong as Mira called him to get to the bunker. He came quick as it sounded urgent. When he arrived, he was almost brought to tears as one of his best friends and her two teammates were hurt. Quickly he grabs a bucket of water before checking their injuries. "Thankfully, their wounds are not serious enough for Porylisca's help. I can heal them but they will be out for a while" he says as he brings the water of Levy's body, wiping the Phantom mark and healing her injuries.
Makarov feeling absolutely livid states "Destroying the bar was something that I was willing to accept, but I will not stand by as my children get hurt. THIS MEANS WAR. NATSU YOURE LEADING THE CHARGE ON PHANTOM LORD." He yells the last bit as Natsu flares up. "IM ALL FIRED UP." As he and the rest of the guild barring Lucy and Percy charge out of the bunker heading for Phantom Lord.
Percy and Lucy take care of each member of Shadow Gear, Lucy taping their wounds while Percy runs the water over the three of them healing as many injuries as possible before getting tired. "Percy you need to slow down, you're using too much energy" she advises. Percy, feeling two separate burns, one on his back and one on his right shoulder, shakes his head and keeps pushing. "I'm fine Lucy don't worry I know when to stop" he reassures her. Lucy stands up as she wonders how the others are faring.
Phantom Lord
Everything is in chaos. The Fairy Tail members broke into the guild with Natsu leading the way punching and kicking everyone the moves. Gray doesn't disappoint as he uses his ice constructs to clear a path. Cana uses her fortune cards as weapons, summoning lightning at her attackers, Alzack firing his pistol at multiple enemies while his partner in crime Bisca re-equips into a shotgun for more range and power. Elfman uses a partial takeover and beats anyone he can find. Every member of Fairy Tail present is doing as much damage possible as payback for the assault on their guild mates. Erza herself is seeking the more experienced members, the Elemental Four as they were the strongest and most experience members but yet she couldn't find them. The only person there was Gajeel.
Gajeel enjoyed watching the fairies exhausting themselves before descending upon the large oaf, only to be kicked aside by Natsu. "I'm surprised Salamander, you found me pretty quickly." Natsu still angry over his friends being hurt "Considering you smell of Levy, Jet, and Droy's blood, I'm not surprised. I'm gonna make you pay for what you did to them" Natsu vows as he and Gajeel trade blows.
Makarov enters the guild in his giant state making a mess out of the whole guild. "Look out he's a monster" a Phantom guild member yells. "YOU HARMED THIS MONSTER'S CHILDREN, NOW WHERE IS JOSE?!" Makarov demands as he storms the guild. He makes his way up the stairs while leaving Erza in charge. Erza is worried, not a single member of the Elemental Four were seen "Where could they be?" she wonders while slashing another faceless member.
Back in Magnolia.
Lucy walks alone deep in thought as she couldn't stand seeing one of her friends in pain. Levy meant a lot to the celestial mage as the two were fans of literature. When Natsu accidentally leaked that Lucy was writing a novel, Levy asked politely if she could be the first to read it and Lucy agreed. Levy was also a big sister to Percy as well so to see her in pain and to see Percy do everything he could to help them broke her heart.
All of a sudden it started raining as a depressed blue haired woman dressed in a blue raincoat wearing a winter cap sings to herself "Drip Drop Drip Drop" while walking closer to Lucy. The woman looks at Lucy and introduces herself "Juvia Lockser, the Rain Woman at your service. Pleasure to meet you" she says as she begins to walk past Lucy, who releases the deep breath she's been holding.
"Non, non, non" an obnoxious French accent follows Juvia as a thin man wearing a brown suit and a monocle pops up next to her "Madam Juvia must not walk away from the target. Bonjour Mademoiselle Lucy, I am Monsieur Sol of the Elemental Four." Lucy backpedals as she reaches for her keys. "Elemental Four, of the Phantom Lord guild. You're the ones who attacked our guild and hurt Levy and her team."
"Non, non, non" Sol shakes his head "We had no part of it but we did agree to the attack". Juvia has had enough and forces the water from the rain into a watery sphere around Lucy trapping her. Lucy ended up unintentionally dropping her keys as she struggled to get free. "Don't bother, Juvia's Water Cage is impossible to break out of." Suddenly the sphere bursts leaving Lucy unharmed and the two Elemental Four members shocked. Looking upwards they see Percy whose look of rage almost freezes the two in their place as he held his hand up
"Lucy are you alright" Percy asks while keeping his eyes trained on the two Phantoms. "I'm fine Percy what are you doing here?" "Reedus is watching over Levy and her team. They're stable." He says to her before addressing his adversaries "Be warned. Just because Im a child doesn't mean you can underestimate me." Percy warns as he sends a slice of water at his enemies. Juvia deflects it with her own slice while Sol dives underground hoping to pop up behind Percy. Percy, however, can sense where the man is, and as Sol pops out behind him, he turns around and punches him. Now normally a punch from a nine year old wouldn't hurt but Percy was unconsciously grabbing strength from the giant within as he sends the man flying. "Lucy run I'll hold them off!" Percy demands as he deflects Juvia's Water Nebula. Lucy acknowledges and runs grabbing her keys as she knows Percy can handle them. Percy and Juvia begin to send water attacks at each other, with both of them deflecting them at impossible speeds. However, Juvia begins to slow down as she loses more magical power while Percy seems to have boundless energy.
Juvia begins to play defense liquefying her body in order to prevent Percy's attacks from hurting her. However as Percy sees this he focuses on the watery woman and holds her in place. Juvia, shocked as no one had ever attempted let alone succeed in holding her water form hostage, tries to struggle but she can't. Percy walks over to her. "I don't want to harm you as you don't look like you belong with them. And I really enjoyed our fight. But as a member of Fairy Tail, I am still enraged by the actions your guild have made." He says before screaming in pain. Juvia is shocked as she sees blue fire hitting Percy square in the back burning him. Percy falls forward and rolls in the rain screaming in pain as he looks up only to see a black and white haired teenager with a black mark on his face
"Totomaru, I apologize but the boy is stronger than anticipated. Monsieur Sol was already knocked down and his water affinity is unmatched." In her heart, she knows that what her guild mate did was wrong and as the Fire Elemental Lord walks away to wake Sol up she walks to the boy and spreads water across his back attempting to nullify the burns. Once she sees Sol up and the target in her sight as she ran towards the boy, she again traps Lucy in the Water Cage forcing her to drop her keys again. She wipes away a tear as the three head back to their HQ, leaving Percy knocked out but very much alive.
Alright so the first part of the Phantom Lord arc has been completed. We got to see Juvia and Percy going at each other as he knocks Sol out with one shot due to Obelisk's power. We also got to see Juvia being the kind hearted woman I've known her to be in the anime and yes we will see her and Gray duel. I also wanted to include Totomaru in this one as while he wasn't involved with Lucy's capture, he's the only one that could actually hurt Percy. Also to add fuel to when Natsu fights him later on.
And yes I did add Hisui early. Why not? As far as I know she is still very much involved and it will be important in a later event.
Now onto a problem I just found out about today. So I am open to constructive criticism after all this is my first ever story and I want to make sure it is well liked. I also am fine with negative criticism as I know I'm not the best writer. But I also expect you guys to understand the character's lore as you make your critics. Now granted I have made mistakes in this story, I promise after the Phantom Lord arc the connection between the three Egyptian Gods and Percy will be explained. But to target a certain critic who favored my story only to say that I'm a terrible writer (you know who you are) let me take your problems with my story so far and explain myself
The connection between Percy and Poseidon: Percy doesn't know his father because there are many gods and titans who are powerful with water. He will find out about Poseidon soon. Also Percy considers the guild his second family, so he's in no rush to find out who his father is
Percy's reaction to the prophecy: I addressed it in this chapter but, if I'm a nine year old kid who reads a prophecy involving the death of a hero and destruction, and I have many of my friends who are heroes in their own rights, I would freak out too.
Percy knowing whats wrong with the villagers on Galuna: Hello Percy isn't stupid. He's pretty observant. Now yes in the books he's slow, but Chiron is at fault, and he accepted this, as he didn't have Percy go through orientation when he first made it to camp which didn't help as it restricted Percy's knowledge forcing him to rely on the other characters and his knowledge of Greek Mythology. But Percy can notice things others cannot. Example: Hoover Dam, when he asked Thalia to pray to her father when he saw the statues, yes Athena clued him in but he still figured it out. He also helped Zoe kill the Nemean Lion and she actually gave him the fur as she said that his plan was what killed the beast. Also you're telling me that 2 years in a world of magic, with 2 S-Class mages in Mirajane and Erza tutoring him, and a magic researcher in Levy, that Percy would still not notice something is off?
Percy reading Greek: This is one that is clearly without effort. Percy has dyslexia so words fly around him as his mind is hard wired to read Greek.
The prophecy in Fairy Tail: Okay one that is an issue but when you think about it it's not. The prophecy of seven existed thousands of years in the Roman's hands before Rachel used it. Whose to say that this prophecy didn't exist before. As far as I know it hasn't been brought up so while yes it might be a problem, it finding its way to Fairy Tail isn't that big of a deal
The story has no direction: Im going through arc after arc in the Fairy Tail anime and make Percy grow into being more of a badass in his fight with the titans when he returns.
Percy knowing stuff he shouldn't: See point three specifically the last question.
Again Im fine with true criticism. It shows that you've read my story and have seen flaws that I overlooked. Which I know is not easy. And maybe I expect too much from the people reading as I believed that for one they're more knowledgeable about the characters than I am and would agree to some points in the story while criticize others. Now I don't condemn negative criticism I need it to improve, but baseless criticism is not worth my time. Oh and for the guy who hates my story, please remove it from your favorite story list.
