Hello Hello Hello!
I know it's been awhile since I published a chapter, but I don't want you to think that I'm stopping. I'll let you know when I do, and that WONT HAPPEN for a long time.
Now, just going to let you know ahead of time, I've decided to make this chapter/episode a 2-parter. Both parts combined will make the chapter too long. Sorry if you don't see any part of the JJK chapter or TOH episode in this chapter, but I promise you will see it soon.
Once again, I'll remind all of you that I DO NOT OWN Jujutsu Kaisen OR The Owl House. Those glories belong to their creators, Gege Akutami & Dana Terrace
Without further ado, I present the latest chapter.
Chapter 4: The Intruders, Part 1
In the forests of the boiling isles, a lot of creatures are seen roaming around and living their lives. Walking through these woods though were two people the animals aren't used to seeing. Two humans, or rather, two jujutsu sorcerers, Yuji Itadori & Nobara Kugisaki.
Kugisaki: You seeing any yet?
Itadori: Nope.
Kugisaki: Damn it, Gojo says that curses were out here in these woods, but instead of dealing with it himself, he sends me out here with you, a newbie. Why did I have to get teamed up with you?
Itadori: (Sighs) Cut me some slack would ya. I'm not used to this. I can't pick up on cursed energy yet.
Kugisaki: What a pain. Let's just make this quick and split up, okay? I'll head West from here and you head East. Lets finish this up, head back to Jujutsu High, and have that lazy teacher of ours cash in on the deal.
Flashback (2 Hours Ago)
Over at Jujutsu High outside one of its temples, all 3 of the first years are standing in front of their teacher Gojo.
Yuji: There are curses spotted in the forest?
Gojo: Yep. We've received reports of at least 4 different curses spotted in the woods outside of Bonesborough.
The city Gojo mentioned confused the vessel.
Itadori: Bonesborough?
Fushiguro: The same town we walked through when you first got here.
Itadori: Oh! Gotcha!
Gojo: From the descriptions, we've deemed the curses are something first years like you can handle.
Each of the first-years seemed ready to take on the assignment.
Gojo: With that being said, Nobara, Yuji, the two of you will go into those woods and expel any curses you see.
The three students seemed slightly surprised. Fushiguro closed his eyes in disappointment, Kugisaki sighed as she wasn't looking forward to teaming up with the pink-haired teen and Itadori showed a bit of concern at his teachers request.
Itadori: Isn't it a little too soon for me to do this? I don't know any Jujutsu spells. How can I expel a curse?
Gojo: You're basically half a curse already. You've got cursed energy flowing through you. Controlling that energy isn't as easy though. That's why I got something for you.
(Gojo hands Itadori a wrapped object)
(Itadori unwraps it and sees that it's a blade with two holes in it).
Itadori: Whoa!
Gojo: That's a cursed tool called Slaughter Demon! It's a weapon infused with cursed energy. It'll work against curses.
Yuji seemed excited to use the weapon. Kugisaki thought otherwise.
Kugisaki: Lame.
After that thought, the female sorcerer still had some problems with the assignment.
Kugisaki: Why are you having me work with someone with barely any experience? He'll be a liability.
Yuji was quite offended by her claim.
Itadori: HUH?!
Gojo: I've seen what Fushiguro can accomplish on his own. I want to know what you two are capable of. So think of this as a field test.
The two sorcerers still didn't seem that enthused about working together. Luckily, Gojo knew how to persuade them.
Gojo: What if I treat you to a reward afterwards?
Itadori: Reward?
Kugisaki: I'm listening.
Gojo: If you two exorcise these curses, I'll treat all of you to whatever you want to eat, anywhere… Back in Tokyo!
The teachers tactic seemed to do the trick just fine.
Itadori & Kugisaki: Consider the job done!
Fushiguro: That's all it took to motivate them? Dinner?
The two were ready to head out. Before Itadori left though, Gojo grabbed him by the shoulder to tell him one more thing.
Gojo: Itadori, don't let Sukuna out, got it? If you use that, you'd wipe out any curses in an instant. But the same thing would happen to anyone else in the vicinity. Whether its human, demon or witch.
Itadori took that to mind before he nodded to Gojo's instruction.
Kugisaki: Hurry up!
Flashback End
Itadori: Look, I want to head back to the human realm and take in all of Tokyo I can, but we gotta take this more seriously. Curses are dangerous ya know!
That comment annoyed the female sorcerer.
(Kugisaki kicks Itadori's behind)
Kugisaki: Why's a newbie like you telling me off?! Get Moving!
Itadori: I can't read you at all!
Kugisaki: That's why you're not popular.
(Kugisaki splits from Itadori)
Itadori: What? How'd you know that?! I bet you're not popular either! Idiot.
After their argument, Itadori wandered over to his side of the forest to search for any curses Gojo mentioned.
As he was though, he failed to notice something was eyeing him. And not just "something", it was what he was looking for, a curse. Like a predator stalking its prey, the curse was ready to pounce. As it did though, Yuji saw it coming.
(Itadori slashes an arm off the curse that leapt at him with Slaughter Demon)
Yuji quickly examined his attacker and saw it had 4 legs, as if it were some sort of spider creature. It's body seemed
Curse: Do you… need… a receipt…?
Itadori: A curse!
As the curse was about to attack, Yuji kept evading its attacks by moving around or sliding under it. Itadori wouldn't stay on the evasive for long though.
Itadori: Head-on Attack!
The human vessel began slashing away at the curse with Slaughter Demon as he avoided the curses attempts to slash him. Soon enough, Yuji managed to finish it off by stabbing the curse through the top of its head.
GRRSH
The curse soon fell to the ground as it died from the injury, resulting it into being exorcised.
Yuji sighed in victory as he sat on the ground.
Itadori: Phew! I got some moves!
Back at Jujutsu High, Fushiguro was looking out the window and noticed the sky turning dark gray with each passing minute. He then saw Gojo walking towards him.
Fushiguro: You sure sending Itadori & Kugisaki out there is a good idea? Fighting curses on their own for the first time?
Gojo: I'm not worried. They may be new to the demon realm, but as long as they know a curse when they see one, then they should be fine.
Fushiguro: You could have sent me with them you know. Besides, we have to keep an eye on Itadori. Make sure he doesn't catch any witches attention.
Gojo: You're still not 100% recovered.
Although the student wanted to deny that, his body still felt sore from his and Itadori's battle with the curse at Itadori's school.
Gojo: Besides, this isn't about how Itadori does or if he gets anyone's attention. We're putting Kugisaki to the test. Yuji is already crazy up here (points at his head). Even though they're obviously different, curses still take the form of a creature. And these are curses that are looking to kill him. Up against that, he still doesn't hesitate to kill them. He's not familiar with curses or the demon realm from a young age like you. We're talking about a guy who was your average high school student living life in the human realm. There are jujutsu sorcerers with great potential. But if they can't get over their fear & disgust of curses OR get used to their new surroundings, they can fall by the wayside. Today, I wanna see how crazy SHE can get.
Although Fushiguro understood his teachers reasoning, he still felt like one of them should have at least joined Itadori and Kugisaki. When Fushiguro looked out the weather to see storm clouds approached, he only narrowed his eyes.
Fushiguro: Have you looked outside though? It looks like it'll rain. You did tell them about what rain is like in this realm right?
Gojo: Hmmm, nope. Looks like I forgot.
Fushiguro: Idiot.
Gojo: But even if it does rain, with where they are, they'll be close enough to the house that's close by.
Kugisaki is walking through the forest looking for curses. Since she had more experience than Yuji, she knew what she was doing and how close she was. She stopped moving and stared directly at a tree a few feet away from her.
Kugisaki: Hey, you. Curse. The tree in the middle. Is that your idea of hiding? You don't have as many leaves as the ones around you.
(Kugisaki pulls out two steel nails and a steel hammer with a heart decoration on it)
Kugisaki: No reaction huh? Then it's time to say goodbye.
Back at Jujutsu High, Fushiguro was confused on why Gojo was curious about what Kugisaki was capable of.
Fushiguro: Kugisaki has experience. Isn't that enough?
Gojo: Curses are born from people's hearts. The number and strength of curses are greater depending on an area's population.
Kugisaki uses her hammer to launch the nails into the tree she's aiming at. Once the nails made contact with the tree, multiple eyes began appearing on it.
Gojo: If the curse came from an area with low population, it shouldn't be a problem. If it's from a heavily populated city, then it's at a whole other level!
Kugisaki: I'd take those nails out if I were you.
As the tree curse noticed, the nails began going deeper and deeper into it.
Kugisaki: My cursed energy is gonna flow through 'em!
As the tree attempted reach the nails with its branch arms, it was too late as the nails made its way through the wooden curse and resulting in the tree falling back as if it just died.
Kugisaki: Heh heh, Timber! Perfect.
(Kugisaki puts her hammer back in her belt and retrieves the nails)
The female sorcerer then turned around and walked back into the direction she left Itadori at.
Kugsaki: Weird. I knew there was a curse here and I could sense feint cursed energy at Itadori's direction earlier. But so far, it's only two curses. There's only two left, but I'm not picking up any cursed energy.
Soon enough, Kugisaki noticed Itadori up ahead and made her way towards him.
Kugisaki: Itadori! Find any curses?
Itadori: Yep! Took one out without much trouble. You?
Kugisaki quickly got annoyed with her partner.
Kugisaki: Huh? Why are you asking me that? Of course I took care of one! Don't ask as if I would need your help.
Itadori: So quick to anger!
As he got over her berating him, he not only noticed the clouds above them getting darker, but heard what sounded like thunder.
Itadori: Looks like it'll rain any second now.
Kugisaki: Don't mind it. Lets focus on finding the remaining curses. Rain won't stop curses from causing trouble.
What the two sorcerers didn't know, was that the rest of their mission would likely have to be put on hold as soon as they find out what the rain in the demon realm is like.
(A single rain drop falls onto Itadori's head)
SSSZZZ
Itadori: OW!
Kugisaki: Huh? What's up with you?
Itadori: Something just burned me!
Kugisaki: Huh? What could possibly burn you out here?
(A rain drop lands on Kugisaki's hand)
SSSZZZ
Kugisaki: OW! What the hell?!
(Both of them look up at the sky to see the storm clouds getting darker)
?: I wouldn't look up if I were you two.
Both students turned at the direction the voice came from. They both recognized the voice though. One of the people they first met on their first day entering the demon realm, the Owl Lady.
Eda: Unless you two want to go blind, I suggest you want to stop yourselves from looking up at the sky.
Kugisaki: That old bat?
Itadori: Eda? What are you doing out here?
Eda: As much as I would like to explain, I don't think there's enough time before the boiling rain starts pouring.
What the witch just said surprised the two of them.
Itadori & Kugisaki: Boiling Rain?!
Eda: Follow me if you don't want 3rd degree burns.
(Eda runs away from Itadori & Kugisaki)
Kugisaki had a lot of questions on her mind that she wanted to shout at the witch. Before she could, Itadori quickly lowered himself, gesturing Kugisaki to hop on his back. He knew that the pain from only a few drops would only intensify if they paused any longer. She wanted to protest, but felt more hot rain on her. Not wanting to stay outside any longer, she rolled her eyes decided it was best to just trust the old witch's offer of safety.
Itadori quickly ran after the Owl Lady while carrying Kugisaki on his back. He could have easily ran past Eda, even while carrying Kugisaki. But if he did, he wouldn't know where he'd be going. He decided to slow down just to follow Eda through the trees. As they made their way through the woods, both the sorcerers heard Eda shouting as she tried to cover herself with one of her arms.
Eda: Boiling Rain! Everybody inside now!
They then heard another familiar voice. As they closed the distance, they saw an old looking cottage-like home with white bricks, a sloping blue roof and a stained-glass window in the shape of an eye. Right behind the home is a stone tower, seeming to be connected to the shelter. They noticed the house was right by a cliff. Just outside in front of the house, was the human girl that studied under Eda, Luz. She was surprised to see her fellow humans following Eda.
Luz: Huh? Yuji? Nobara? What are you- (Yelps) (Eda grabs Luz's arm and drags her inside the house)
The two students then heard crashing the second the witch and Latina girl go inside. Soon enough, Itadori sped up and made it through the front door and stopping before he crashed. When he came to a stop, Nobara hopped off and was relieved to be inside and away from that painful rain.
As the two scanned what they assumed was the living room of the house, Eda snapped them back to reality.
Eda: Look at that, you can keep up. Anyway, that was close. But the important thing is nobody got hurt.
That wasn't the case for everyone as Luz was on the ground with her arms and legs crooked and right behind her was a big mess of books, drawings and what looks like a cork bulletin board. Rummaging through the debris was the little demon, King, as he unknowingly pushed a coffee cup onto Luz's head.
Luz: Yep. (Groans) Not hurt.
Itadori quickly made his way over to Luz and helped her up. Once he made sure she was standing firmly on her feet, he went to King and picked him up out of the mess and onto the ground next to Luz.
Itadori: You guys good?
Luz: Oh yeah. We're good, thanks for asking.
The boy noticed a little scratch on Luz's arm. He deducted that she must have gotten it after Eda dragged her into the house and got into that crash with King and the board. Luckily, it looked minor, so Itadori & Nobara didn't think much of it.
However, they were surprised to see The Owl Lady walk back outside. Unlike earlier, Eda seems to have summoned some sort of magical barrier over her head to protect her from the rain.
Everyone followed the witch back outside, but stopped just underneath the roof. When they did, a certain house demon couldn't hold back its excitement towards the new visitors now that they weren't running in panic from the rain.
Hooty: HOOT! (Itadori jumps) New Friends! I'm Hooty! What are your names? Hoot!
Itadori: Oh, well, hey there uh, Hooty. I'm Yuji Itadori, it's nice to meet you.
Hooty: HOOT! I like introductions! I was getting a weird feeling from you, but I can tell you're a nice guy! HOOT!
Yuji was surprised by what the demon on the door said.
Itadori: "Weird feeling?" Does he mean Sukuna? Can he sense him?
Nobara was quick to change the subject as she shouted to the Owl Lady a question that was on her mind.
Kugisaki: Anyway, can you explain to us what's up with the weather in this realm?
Eda: Hate to break it to ya, but we don't have weather. We have plagues, gorenados, shale hail, even painbows.
Itadori: Painbows?
King: It's like a rainbow, but looking at it turns you inside out.
(Itadori & Kugisaki Gulp) (Luz pulls the drawstrings of her hoodie to tighten the hood around her head).
Eda: Did Gojo seriously not tell you two about this?
Itadori shook his head, while Kugisaki had a face of anger as she thought of her teacher who forgot to mention something important about the Boiling Isles.
Kugisaki: He's gonna have hell to pay the next time I see him.
Eda couldn't help but chuckle at Kugisaki's angry facial expression.
Eda: As funny as that is, until the boiling rain stops, no one is allowed outside tonight. (Looks at Itadori & Kugisaki) And unless you two want to take your chances going back to your school with less skin, you might as well stay here for the night.
Itadori simply stands close to the house while Kugisaki crosses her arms and leans against the house, showing the owl lady that they'll sit and wait.
Eda: That's what I thought.
King: Besides, if the rain doesn't get you (Pulls out a book out of his hat) the Snaggleback will.
Luz, Itadori & Kugisaki look at the page King has opened and study the illustration of the creature shown. The illustration shows a monster with sharp canine teeth and a spiky turtle shell on its back.
Kugisaki: It looks like Bowser from Mario.
Itadori: What's the Snaggleback?
King: I'm glad you asked. It's a demon that wanders through the rain and feeds on boiled tourists.
Eda: Well whatever the case, this forcefield spell should protect the house from boiling rains and made-up demons.
Hooty: Hoot. Well, hurry it up with that force field. That rain is getting closer to my precious stucco.
Eda: Yeah yeah I got it.
Eda twirls her staff and expands the force field over her to cover the owl house.
Luz: Wow. Someday I'd like to be as cool as Eda the Owl lady. Magical, sassy, surprisingly foxy for her age. Hey, why do they call you "The Owl Lady" anyway?
Eda: Because I'm so wise.
The older teen girl decided to respond with some sass of her own.
Kugisaki: Is that why you're on wanted posters? Because you're so "wise"?
Eda: I'll have you know it takes wits to avoid getting caught. So HA!
The other residents of the house shared their own theories on Eda's nickname.
Hooty: No, she's called "The Owl Lady" because she coughs up rat bones.
King: I think it's because she gets distracted by shiny objects.
Eda: No I don't. I-
(King pulls out a pen from his hat with a diamond at the end of it. He pushes the end of it, making the diamond glow.)
Eda: (Eyes widen and smiles) It sparkles and shimmers and shines and delights. I must have it for my nest! (Leaps towards the pen)
(King pulls the pen away, making Eda miss)
Luz: You have a nest? I want a nest! Nest party!
As Luz helped Eda get back up, the witch quickly became tired.
Itadori: You okay?
Eda: Yeah, that force field really took it out of me.
King: Uh oh, moving a little slow. Age finally catching up with you?
(Eda pulls Kings hat over his face)
King: Ah! Darkness!
Eda opens the door and lets everyone in. Before Kugisaki could enter, the home demon had yet to introduce himself to her.
Hooty: Hello!
Kugisaki: Ah!
Hooty: I don't know your name! What is it?
The female sorceress did her best to hide the fact how creeped out she was by the house demon.
Kugisaki: I'm Nobara Kugisaki. Can I go in now? What the hell is this thing? It ain't giving off any cursed energy, so I doubt it's dangerous. A bird? A tube? And does it seriously have to be so loud?
Hooty: Well, Eda told me to not let anyone suspicious in, but you and Yuji seem like a fun bunch.
(Kugisaki walks in to follow everyone else)
Hooty: I can tell we're all going to be good friends. We can play games, share secrets and even –
Without looking Kugisaki reaches behind her for the door handle and slams the door shut behind her.
Hooty: Hoot!
Kugisaki: I feel like that thing's going to give me more nightmares than any curse will.
(King finally gets his cap off over his face and back on top of his head)
Luz: Yuji, Nobara, since Eda seems tired, allow me to formally welcome you to The Owl House.
Itadori: Woah, cool!
Kugisaki: Eh, kinda old fashion looking, but sorta comfortable.
As Itadori and Kugisaki looked around at the interior of the owl house, Itadori thought back to what Eda said about the spell she cast over the property.
Itadori: Hey Eda, you said the force field will protect us from the rain and demons, but what about cursed spirits?
Eda: Nope. The force field won't stop a curse from walking through it, but luckily, I came across two sorcerers here to take care of them if some happen to wander by.
Itadori: Won't curses just get burned by the boiling rain?
Kugisaki: (Pinches Itadori's cheek) Idiot. Curses can only be killed by cursed energy or cursed techniques. The rain will just phase right through them. (Releases Itadori's cheek)
Itadori: Ow. Ok ok. Excuse me for asking.
Kugisaki: Besides, only weak curses can phase through solid matter. So even if one manages to get in, it should be easy.
(Kugisaki walks away from Itadori)
(Luz walks up to Itadori)
Luz: You two don't really see eye to eye yet don't you?
Itadori: Nope. Very hard to read.
Then Luz realized something and was curious to ask her pink-headed friend.
Luz: By the way, what were you two doing out there? Were you hunting for curses?
Itadori: Yeah. Gojo said some were spotted out there, so he sent Kugisaki and I out there to deal with it.
The young teen girl was impressed.
Luz: Oooh, spirit hunting! Or, I guess Curse Spirit hunting. Anyway, mission accomplished?
Itadori: Well, Kugisaki and I both managed to take one out each. But Gojo said there were at least four out there. So no, mission not accomplished. Yet.
Luz: Oh. Well, if you guys can take care of two, then you're only half-way done.
Itadori: Exactly! And as soon as we finish them off, (Itadori wears a serious look on his face) we'll have another important matter to take care of.
Luz: Really? What's that? Another important mission?
Itadori: No, if we accomplish this mission, Gojo, (Itadori smiles with excitement) will treat us to a meal anywhere we want in Tokyo!
As Itadori said that, Luz and King were silent.
King: Really? Those two risked going out in boiling rain weather just to get some food?
Luz thought differently and had no problem showing how she felt for her friend.
Luz: Tokyo?! You are so Lucky! I've always wanted to check out Tokyo! Please take pictures!
Itadori smiled as Luz was excited for him. If she felt happy for him, then who was he to turn down her request.
Itadori: Luz, consider it done.
Luz: Thanks Yuji! Can't wait to hear all about it. Oh, uh, after you find those curses of course.
Itadori: Right.
Luz: Ok, well, you and Nobara make yourselves comfortable. I'm gonna go talk to Eda.
Itadori: Talk to her about what?
Luz: Well, since we're going to be stuck in the house all night, I figure Eda won't have any excuse to teach me a spell.
Itadori: Oh right. Luz is staying with Eda to learn magic.
What the two teens failed to notice was the small demon slightly hurt by Luz's desire to learn magic over his teachings.
King: Wait, Luz. Don't you want to finish our demon lesson? I was going to let you scratch a demon's tummy. Me.
Luz: Oh, uh, sorry King. But, Magic. (Luz runs after Eda)
King was disappointed by her response. Perfectly fitting that his horn pierced through his hat, causing it to deflate.
Itadori however, was curious about the little furry demon's lesson.
Itadori: Demon lesson? If I'm going to be here on the isles, I might as well learn what I can about this place and the things that lurk in it besides curses.
Itadori: Hey, King.
(King turns around to Itadori)
King: Huh?
Itadori: I'll listen to your lesson.
King: Really? Yay! Uh, I mean, (Coughs) wise choice. If you're gonna survive in this realm, you'll need to know as much as you can about its inhabitants.
Although Yuji wasn't sure if King's lesson would be entirely reliable for him, he could tell that King wanted to feel heard and listened to. If Luz was going to learn magic from Eda, than surely someone must give King attention.
However, King's little class would have one more student.
Kugisaki: Count me in too.
Itadori & King: Huh?
Kugisaki: The kid was bugging the old bat about teaching magic and I didn't feel like listening.
Itadori: So, you'd rather be here? With us?
Kugisaki: Might as well if we're going to be here the whole night.
What Itadori & King didn't know was that the female sorcerer had ulterior motive for joining in on King's lesson.
Kugisaki: That little skull dog (King), IS SO CUTE! If that Luz kid is gonna pass on giving that little guy a belly rub, than who am I to say "no"? It's not Tokyo, but might as well do something just as nice.
King: Uh, ok. But, could you not look at me like that?
Itadori looked over to Kugisaki to see that her focus was dead set on King himself. He put one and one together to see why she wanted to spend time with the demon. He couldn't deny that King was cute, but he decided to have a little fun on his end and be immature about it.
Itadori: Someone wants to pet the demon.
The boy was quickly met with a hammer fist at the top of his head.
Itadori: Ow!
Kugisaki: (Glares at Itadori) Don't you know it's rude to disturb a teacher before he teaches?
Although King liked the conflict between the two and what he assumed was a fight for his attention, he still wanted to give a lecture about demons and was ready to break up the two sorcerers.
Before he could though…..
THUD
Itadori: What was that?
Luz: AH!
King: Luz?
(King leads the way to the living room as Itadori and Kugisaki follows him)
When the three arrive in the living room, they find Eda lying down face first on the ground with Luz next to her with a cell phone in her hand.
(Kugisaki uses her leg to push Eda onto her back)
Luz: It's not what you think. I wanted Eda to teach me a spell and was so obsessed with it that it knocked out Eda. (Brief Pause) I'M A MONSTER!
Kugisaki: Relax kid. As long as she ain't dead, you're no monster.
(King makes his way to the knocked out Eda)
(King pats Eda on her face)
King: Bap! Yeah, she's out. (King pats her face again) Bap! Haha. Just making sure.
Luz: We should get help!
Luz runs for the open front door, but King and the Jujutsu students stop her by grabbing her.
King: Boiling rains remember?
Hooty: No, let her try. It'll be funny.
(King slams the door shut)
Luz: But what if Eda's dead?!
Despite being knocked out, everyone could hear the owl lady talking in her sleep.
Eda: Shiny thing….. Big nest (snores)
King: Relax Luz. Remember when Eda's head got cut off last week?
Itadori & Kugisaki: What?
King: (Turns to Itadori & Kugisaki) Oh yeah, you two weren't there. Great story. I'll tell you about it later. But the point is, that woman can survive anything. She's probably just tired from staying up all night chasing shrews and voles.
Luz: Well, we can't just leave her on the floor.
King: (Sighs) Fine. We'll just bring her up to her nest in her room.
(Yuji walks over to the sleeping Eda)
Luz: Ok so, King, do you want to help me with her legs and Yuji can-
(Itadori easily picks Eda up bridal style)
Itadori: Where's Eda's room?
The aspiring witch, demon & female sorcerer were all stunned at how the boy easily picked up the witch.
Luz: Woah, stronger than you look.
King: Showoff.
King leads Luz, Kugisaki and Itadori to Eda's room while the vessel is still carrying her without any trouble. The jujutsu sorcerers were surprised to see an actual big bird nest in the witch's room.
Kugisaki: Is she called "the owl lady" because she sleeps like a bird or something?
King: Yuji, just drop her off in the nest.
Itadori: Ok.
(Itadori gently places Eda within her nest)
(Luz looks over at the snoring witch)
Luz: Sorry for pushing you, Ms. Eda. Please don't hurt me when you wake up.
King: Should I bab her again?
Kugisaki: If you want, (Takes out her hammer) I can knock her out for a while.
Seeing Kugisaki's hammer made Luz jump with worry at the idea.
Luz: Ah! Estas Loca?! You don't need to go that far! (Slaps her hand over her mouth)
The people still awake turned to the witch to make sure she was still sleeping and not waking up over Luz's yelp.
(Eda snores)
Luz, King & Itadori: Phew.
Luz: Look, she just needs some rest.
Kugisaki: Fine. (Puts her hammer away)
Luz: Now, lets just go downstairs so Eda can rest.
(Luz, Itadori & Kugisaki leave Eda's room)
(King "baps" Eda again and follows everyone else while giggling)
Back in the living room, King was busy taking/drawing notes from a book about demons while Kugisaki watched him, staring at him and Itadori looking out the window and the boiling rain pouring outside. While they were all doing that, Luz was trying to accomplish what Eda was demonstrating before she passed out, casting a spell circle. Unfortunately for Luz, she was having a very hard time doing so.
Luz: Ah! This is all she does (draws a circle in the air). Why you gotta be so cryptic owl lady?
Itadori heard Luz's frustration and walked away from the window over to Luz.
Itadori: Cryptic how?
Luz: Look. (Luz presses play on her phone to show a recording of Eda performing a spell just before she fell asleep.)
While the teen boy is studying Jujutsu and not magic, he couldn't help but be a little curious.
Itadori: Did she say anything before you recorded this?
Luz: Well, Eda did mention something about magic coming from a witch's heart.
Itadori: Hmmm. Is that a metaphor for something?
Luz: No. She said magic literally comes from a witch's heart. Some sort of bile sack organ or something connected to the heart.
That little fact surprised the two humans that didn't know. Itadori was surprised and slightly intrigued.
Itadori: Really? Huh.
Kugisaki on the other hand, started to feel a little nauseous.
Kugisaki: Seriously? I'm learning all sort of gross things since I got here in this realm. First Itadori swallowing one of Sukuna's fingers. Next, we're living on a giant corpse. And now that the people of this realm have bile sacks? By their hearts? What's next?
Itadori: Wow, the more I learn about this realm, the more puzzling it is.
Luz: Tell me about it.
King: Speaking of puzzling, want me to tell you about the most spine-chilling demon? (Pulls out his notepad) Smootchie Pie the Sweetie Baby.
The humans in the room simply stared at the drawing for a few seconds and then turned to the demon. They all wore the same facial expressions. Looks that say "Really"?
King: He's… Well, he's a lot more threatening than his name implies.
Kugisaki: It's hard to take him seriously when both him, that drawing and name are all cute.
Luz: Not now King. I want to figure out this spell. But if I don't have a magic sac, what's the point? I'll just be twirling my fingers around unmagically forever.
King, being tired of Luz's obsession with learning magic and not interested in what he has to offer, decided to ask why.
King: Why do you want to learn magic so bad, anyway?
Itadori was curious too. Surely, If Luz was able to see Fushiguro's demon dog when they first met, she had a better chance at learning Jujutsu.
Although Kugisaki acted as if she didn't care, she was still curious about the young Latina's answer.
Luz: I was a nobody back home. But becoming a witch is my chance to be someone. (Looks over to King, Itadori & Kugisaki) Do you know what it's like to have no one take you seriously?
Although Kugisaki couldn't think of a time when she wasn't taken seriously, she could think about someone who's very carefree & sometimes lazy, her teacher, Satoru Gojo.
Kugisaki: No, but I can think of someone who doesn't seem to take things seriously.
Gojo: (Sneezes)
Fushiguro: Gross.
For Itadori, sometimes, he would prefer to be a "nobody" if it meant having the high school coaches get off his case when he refused to join any sports clubs. He'd rather be with his friends. But that wasn't what Luz explained. She said she didn't have anyone take her seriously. He doesn't know what that's like. But if he remembered what Gojo and Yaga said when he got to the Boiling isles, If people here in the demon realm look down on jujutsu sorcerers, then maybe someday he'll understand Luz's pain.
Lastly, King fully understood what Luz was feeling. Heck, he was feeling that tonight with her. He wanted to teach Luz about demons and all she cares about is learning magic. But, if she felt that way back where she came from in the human realm, then he might as well help her with her goal for tonight. Plus, it might even benefit him if he does.
King: (Sighs) Luz, If I help you learn that spell, could you join in on my lesson?
Luz: Oh, yes, yes. You can teach me about demons all week if you help me learn this spell.
Itadori: I'll help too.
Kugisaki: (Sighs) Might as well do something to pass the time.
When everyone agreed to help Luz, King took control of the conversation and used his notepad to draw something.
King: Well, Eda did say that witches use to do magic differently. So there has to be a way, right? And I have a theory?
Itadori: Theory?
King: Yep. Everyday I notice Eda sneaking drinks of this special elixir. See? Then she always gets a boost of energy. See? I think that's where she gets her powers.
The humans looked at the demon's drawing. It looked as if he drew some sort of equation, only with pictures of what looked like a medicine bottle, Eda and the word "MAGIC!"
Itadori: Hmm, so, it's like how people get a jolt of energy when they drink coffee.
King: Coffee?
Kugisaki: Drink in the human realm.
King: (Nods in understanding) Ah.
Luz: Ok. Eda did say humans don't have bile sacs to produce magic, but maybe drinking one of those elixirs will give me a magic boost.
King: Luckily for you, I know where to get some.
Luz: Really?
King: Si
Luz grabs King, hugs him and spins him around.
Luz: Thank you so much. You're a prince.
King: King. I'm King.
Luz: Right.
King: If I had to guess, she's probably got one of those elixirs up in her room.
Luz and Itadori thought back to bringing the Owl lady to her room earlier. They didn't want to risk waking her up if they had to go back there. One of the humans though, didn't fear witch.
Kugisaki: (Looks at King) I'll come with you in case she wakes up.
Itadori: What will you do if she does?
Her answer was simple and had no use for words.
Kugisaki: (Takes out her hammer)
Everyone in the room realized what she would do with that tool and although King held his thumb up with approval, the other humans weren't too keen on the idea.
Itadori & Luz: DON'T EVEN!
King and Kugisaki make it back to Eda's room and see her sleeping in her nest, on her front, and snoring away.
King: Now where could it be?
Kugisaki noticed right away the bottle that King mentioned. It had an orange-colored liquid in it.
(Kugisaki points to the bottle)
King notices and makes his way over to it. As he did, he heard metal sounds and almost found himself caught in what looks like a bear trap.
King: Ha! Nice try.
What surprised him and Kugisaki though was that the trap grew an eye and could speak.
Bear Trap Demon: Nah, my heart wasn't in it. (Walks past King and Kugisaki)
Kugisaki: What kind of demon looks like a bear trap?
King continued his walk, climbed up a table cloth and made his way to the bottle. When he did, he read the torn tag that was tied to the neck of the bottle.
King: "AN ELIXIR A DAY". Crypric. (Rips off the tag and sticks it inside his collar)
When King hops off the table, he looks back at the sleeping Eda and wonders if it's ok for him to do this. He shrugged off any doubts and quickly made his way over to Kugisaki. Once they met up, they both left to meet up with Luz and Itadori.
In the kitchen, King and Kugisaki made their way over to Luz and Itadori waiting at the table. The little demon got himself on the table with the elixir in hand.
King: Got it.
(King hands Luz the elixir)
Luz: Wow. I can't believe I'm about to learn magic. Real magic. This is historic.
Itadori: You really think this will allow you to use magic?
Luz: Only one way to find out.
Just as Luz was about to drink the contents…
LIGHTNING
(Luz yelps and drops the bottle to the ground, breaking it)
Itadori: Crap!
Kugisaki: Damn.
Luz: Golden elixir gone! This is awful.
Itadori: Now hold on Luz. There's no need to worry over something like this.
King: Yeah. Besides, who needs a light spell when we have tons of lamps?
As soon as King says that, the lights in the house shut off, leaving everyone in darkness.
Itadori: Hey, you totally jinxed it!
King: No I didn't. Hooty controls the house lights. He probably just fell asleep.
King's theory would soon be proven wrong as Kugisaki felt a sinister presence that could only mean one thing.
Kugisaki: (Takes out her hammer and nails) I don't think he fell asleep.
King: What makes you say that?
As soon as the little demon asked, everyone could hear cries of pain from another demon resident of the house.
Hooty: HOOT! HOOT!
Kugisaki: That's why!
Luz: Hooty!
(King hops on Luz's back)
(Luz, King, Itadori and Kugisaki run to the living room)
(Everyone gasps)
Everyone sees that the front room of the owl house has been wrecked with broken furniture & glass covering the ground and scratch marks all over the walls. What took them all by surprise is they all see Hooty (or rather his door body) off of its hinges as he looked unconscious and right above him is a shadowy looking creature with glowing eyes and sharp teeth.
(The creature growls at everyone)
(Kugisaki pulls out one of her nails, covers it with cursed energy and uses her hammer to hit it towards the creature)
(The creature avoids the nail and runs outside)
Kugisaki: It's fast!
(Everyone runs to Hooty)
Luz: Hooty, are you in there?
(Luz pokes Hooty's beak and opens one of his eyes)
Luz: Whatever did this escaped into the rain. What could survive that?
King was the first one with a theory.
King: Oh my gosh, the Snaggleback! It feeds during the rains. It must have stumbled across our house and seen us inside.
Itadori: Are you sure? Because I felt there was something off about that thing.
While Luz and King were confused by Yuji's thought, Kugisaki confirmed what she thought.
Kugisaki: You felt it too huh?
(Yuji, King & Luz turn to Kugisaki)
Kugisaki: Whatever that was, I could definitely feel cursed energy from it. But, there's something about that energy that sets it apart from the other curses I've encountered.
Everyone else was curious about the girl's explanation, Yuji especially. But before they could ponder any longer…..
(Monster Howls)
Everyone looked up and saw that the same shadowy creature had jumped through a window above them.
As Luz was frightened by the creature, Yuji was quick to go after the creature and jumped up high towards the broken window.
Itadori: I'll go after it!
King & Luz were surprised at how the teenager could jump that high so easily. The other sorcerer looked past that and expressed her concerns.
Kugisaki: Hey! Don't go charging in blindly!
Hey berate didn't matter though as Itadori already entered through the window, back into the house and away from Kugisaki's voice.
Kugisaki: That damn idiot. (Turns to Luz and King) You two just stay out here. (Runs past Hooty's collapsed door and into the house).
As they stood outside the house, but still within the force field, Luz couldn't help but be worried. Nobara Kugisaki, an experienced exorcist, seemed confused about what exactly that creature was. If Kugisaki wasn't sure what she and her co-exorcist Yuji were up against, how can Luz be comfortable with them walking in after that thing.
King thought nothing of the situation and had different thoughts.
Luz: This is terrifying. (Looks at King) So why do you look so happy?
King: Because this could be a lesson. This would be a great way for you to see a wild demon up close and personal.
Luz: You want to go toward those creepy sounds? No way. Besides, for all we know, that thing could be a curse. Eda and everyone at Jujutsu High have made it pretty clear that those things are dangerous. Especially to humans. And in case you forgot, I'm a Human. (Points to herself)
King: Ok, first of all, I know you're human. No need to use that tone. Second, what about Eda? What if she gets eaten? She's upstairs and defenseless because you knocked her out.
As much as she hated to admit it, King did have a point. She forgot all about Eda. The last time she saw the witch, she was sleeping and snoring. The creature got in there before Yuji jumped after it and Kugisaki ran back inside. Is it possible the two sorcerers are too late to save her mentor? Would it be better if she lent a hand to save Eda?
Luz: (Groans) (Sighs) Fine. But if that thing is a curse, we let Yuji and Nobara handle it and we run.
King: What? The King of Demons runs from nothing!
(Luz glares at King)
King: (Sighs) Ok fine. Lets go find ourselves a demon!
With newfound determination, the human and skull-masked demon marched back into the house. Ready for what's to come. Whether it's demons or curses.
FIN!
That takes care of Part 1.
As you can see, instead of an abandoned building, Itadori & Kugisaki search for curses in the woods instead.
I know that in JJK, when Kugisaki faces her 1st curse in the abandoned building, the curse was shaped like a mannequin. Clearly you understand it would be out of the ordinary for mannequins to just lie around in the woods. So I decided to make Kugisaki's curse in the shape of a withered tree.
