Chapter 16: Raijinshu

Percy's Mindscape

The three gods sit together in their mortal forms playing a card game, the three deep in thought. Obelisk then states, "The boy has developed strong feelings for the armored warrior. This may pose a problem." Ra studies the cars in his hands as he replies "True but remember he is still in that stage. He may grow out of it." Osiris jumps in "But remember, Atem developed feelings for women who became his mates when he was young as well. And due to our connection to him, he will have to take in three women as his mates."

Obelisk puts two cards down as he says "Considering how picky we were when we chose Atem's mates, we will have to show some leniency nowadays. But Erza is definitely Perseus's type, strong and independent. The problem is the age gap between the two. Erza is a grown woman while Perseus is still a child. If he acts on those feelings now, he might end up getting rejected breaking his heart fully leaving him cautious"

Ra stops as he admits to something, "I've gazed into Fairy Tail's future. When we return, many members of the guild will be participating in an event to determine the next S-Class wizard on a faraway island. However they will be attacked by a dark guild, and as they lick their wounds after their victory Acnologia will appear. They will defend themselves and use a powerful spell, but the cost of the spell is that they will be trapped in a time warp. For seven years they will remain trapped, so if we return Perseus will be 16."

Osiris then asks "And do you plan on telling them about this? This is something serious Ra." Ra shakes his head, "If we tell them, then who knows what could happen. Besides Perseus is destined to return before then. All we can do is have him draw our marks on them as they sleep, but he would never accept that" Ra rebukes

Obelisk takes a moment to think about it "The time warp would last after Perseus becomes 16. Should he survive the events, he may wish to come back. He will be mature enough to act on his feelings then. It still depends on Erza's wishes. But first let us hope that Perseus's fears are unwarranted. Those last dreams seemed ominous. Especially the part where Erza would sacrifice herself to save her guild mate."

Fairy Tail Guild

Percy walks over to Makarov's new office. "You wanted to see me Gramps?" Percy asks. Makarov stands on the table and studies the boy. The two years within the guild have made the boy much taller. He stands taller than him now and his power, without the three gods, is nearing that of an S-Class wizard. "Percy, I know you've been training with Erza until the recent events. But since she and her team are not with us, I have arranged for someone else to train you. Meet him at your training ground" Makarov orders. Percy ponders this. Who could the old man have chosen?

"Very well then. I will head there now" Percy says as he leaves the room. Makarov smiles once Percy leaves, hoping that his grandson doesn't go all out.

Percy and Erza's training grounds

Percy arrives at the training grounds at sunset. He notices something odd about it though. The training dummies are gone. He takes a couple of steps before a wall of magic appears behind him. Shocked he turns around and studies the wall before smiling, "So I take it the old man asked you guys to train me huh?" Percy asks as he turns around noticing smiling faces on all four members of the Raijinshu.

Laxus walks away from the group, hands in his pocket and says "Each one of us are to train you in a certain aspect. You have a lot of potential brat, and Erza just scratched the surface with you. So first you will train with Freed, then Evergreen, then Bickslow, and then me." Percy nods as he pulls out his sword he named Aetherius and takes his stance. Freed steps up in front of Percy and pulls his own sword before teleporting.

Percy stays calm as he feels the earth under his feet. Once Freed teleports behind Percy turns around quickly and blocks Freed's sword. "Good. You stay calm even when your opponent disappears. But how can you react to this?" Freed asks as he creates energy swords and sends them at Percy. Percy flips back dodging the swords before stomping on the ground with his fist sending a landslide towards Freed. Freed creates wings and flies away before casting "Dark Ecriture Absolute Shadow" turning into a dark armored knight.

Percy studies his opponent. "Wow Freed, you look much stronger in that form. Well since you transformed so will I. Partial Takeover Arms" Percy casts as his arms turn to that of the War God Obelisk. The two stand opposite of the other before charging. The two exchange blows testing the each other's strength as the others look on. "Those arms are powerful. The god Percy's using right now must be incredibly strong" Evergreen remarks. "Even Freed's Absolute Shadow is having problems with this and clearly its Percy not the god himself attacking" Bickslow pipes in.

Freed is currently dodging Percy's attacks as best as he could. Percy's speed is not to be underestimated, and with those powerful arms, he could be done for. He ignites his fists with electricity and slams them on the ground sending a shockwave in Percy's direction. Seeing this he casts the Takeover spell again, this time adding Ra's wings before flying off. "No surprise Erza taught him to make snap decisions. He must have taken it to heart and learned how to use the Takeover spell with each of the gods in order to adapt" Laxus remarks before looking at Evergreen. Evergreen nods as she flies towards Percy and casts Fairy Magic, sending energy arrows at him, effectively tagging Freed out.

Percy notices the arrows and brings one of Ra's wings in front of him before blowing them away. He transforms his hands back to normal as he charges. When Ever tries to take her glasses off, Percy flies upward. It then becomes a race as the two fly upwards with Percy in the lead. Ever tries to grab Percy's leg when unexpectedly he turns around and catches her in midair and pushes her off. "Nice try Ever but I'm not that easy to catch. Natsu and Gray can attest to that" Percy cautions his sister. "So can half of the guild if I recall" Evergreen jokes right back at him. Percy feels the moisture in the clouds and concentrates on them. To everyone else he's just closed his eyes and stopped moving.

Laxus studies this motion as do Freed and Bicklsow "Oi what is he trying to do up there?" Bickslow asks genuinely confused. Freed watches Percy but then sees the cloud above him. "He's trying to use the water within the clouds themselves" Freed replies amazed by the young boy's actions. Sure enough water falls from the cloud as Percy recreates them as lances and fires them at Evergreen who responds just as quickly with her Leprechaun Machine Gun. The energy needles collide with the small arrows creating a massive smokescreen in which Percy flies into. Once the smoke clears he appears right in front of Evergreen as they trade blows.

Bickslow summons his dolls and has them fire lasers at the two separating them. "Come down Percy me and my dolls want to play" Bickslow yells. Percy chuckles as he flies down "You know that doesn't sound right whatsoever" Percy chastises Bickslow as Laxus and Freed laugh at his joke, Evergreen giggling behind her hand as she flies down to their position. Bickslow screams as his dolls line up before charging at Percy. Percy slices them one by one as he pushes through. Seeing Bickslow's eyes glow green he stops and closes his eyes while keeping his sword up. The dolls repair themselves and return to their master before lining up in a Pentagram. They begin circling again before firing upon Percy.

Percy uses a technique he saw from Sol and dives underground before the blast hits. He moves underneath the earth as he makes his way towards the confused doll mage. Everyone else is wondering what happened knowing that he was definitely not hurt. Laxus realized what Percy was doing and smiles "He's grown up so fast in these two years. Gramps was right about him" Laxus remarks as he thinks back to the last conversation he had with his grandfather.

FLASHBACK

Laxus and Makarov watch as Mira leaves the office. Laxus comments "Gramps, something is up with Percy. Ever since he woke up he hasn't been the same. He's not as lively as he once was and is so focused on training harder."

Makarov agrees with Laxus as he can see something off with the boy "The boy's life has been hard. He's the son of a powerful god, and as such he wields great power. He's barely scratched the surface of his potential and those three have upped the bar for him. He wishes to be stronger in order to protect those he loves. Sound familiar to you, Laxus?" he asks his grandson

Laxus sighs as he thinks back to his older self, the desire to become stronger in order to make the guild stronger, "That was two years ago. I've moved on from that after seeing Percy" Laxus complains. Makarov still gives him a hard look, "You have changed and so did your team. But you still had that desire within. I believe the boy's intentions are pure. And to keep it that way, I want you and your team to train him when Erza is away."

Laxus looks at the old man incredulously, "Me? But why? I'm not exactly keen on holding back Gramps" Laxus argues. "Percy's much stronger than you think Laxus, also he's learned a lot from Erza and everyone he's fought so far. He might surprise you."

FLASHBACK END

Laxus keeps smiling as he sees two small hands grab at Bickslow's ankles and pull him down, keeping his lower half of his body underground as Percy pops up in front of the trapped Bickslow.

"Wow Bickslow have you gotten heavier lately?" Percy asks. Bickslow comments "Hey it's rude to ask that question you know." Percy fires back "Well yes to a lady, but last time I checked you're still a dude. You do still plan on being a man right?" The question does it as Evergreen and Freed don't even hide their laughter and Laxus hold onto his stomach as he laughs. Bickslow enraged tries to pull himself out of the ground

Laxus then walks over to Bickslow and pulls him out "How am I supposed to take you seriously after that huh?" Laxus asks the boy as he's still grinning. Percy's smile is as wide as ever "Erza doesn't seem to have that problem, Do you?" Percy cheekily asks forcing Laxus to lose the smile as he charges up. Percy stops and casts the Takeover spell but this time he changes his wings and arms to that of Osiris. Once done he charges at Laxus with his arms glowing with yellow and blue lightning. Laxus takes his stance as he blocks Percy's blows one after the other before pushing him away. Percy flips back and gets ready only to see that his opponent has disappeared. He tries to sense where he is through the Earth, but Laxus had caught on to that trick and teleported in the air. Just as Laxus attempts to land a double armed slam, Percy flies away before firing lightning bolts at Laxus. Laxus pushes through and teleports in front of Percy as the two keep trading blows, Laxus holding back not wanting to hurt the boy.

By the end of it Percy is exhausted, having had to fight four different opponents at random times. Laxus walks over to Percy and lowers himself to look at Percy directly "You did good brat. You've learned a lot from Erza, especially when you adapt to the situation at hand. You still have a lot to learn but you're on the right track. But tell me what's up? Why the intent on getting stronger lately?"

Percy looks down as he recalls his dreams when he was out. "When gramps put me to sleep I had been having some strange dreams. Some related to my world and some in this world. And one dream in particular just kept on repeating itself. It would show every person I've cared about on the floor while someone just laughed and blamed me for my inability to protect them. Combine that with seeing Erza getting sucked into lacrima and other dreams about my mom, I just couldn't accept that" Percy says with a sorrowful look on his face.

Laxus sighs as he sees a lot of his old personality in Percy right now "Percy, when Lisanna died, I was like that. I blamed myself for being too weak to do anything and focused on getting better and stronger and when I didn't see my guild mates get stronger I started to feel as if they didn't care. I know you have good intentions but be careful not to go overboard. And remember you always have us to help you out" Laxus reminds Percy of what he already has. Laxus then carries Percy over his shoulders as the four walk back to the Strauss household.

Strauss household

A knock alerts Mirajane who's in her pajamas as she prepares to sleep. She opens the door and finds the Raijinshu at her door with Percy sleeping on Laxus's shoulders. "Poor kid exhausted himself in training today" Laxus explains. Mira welcomes the four inside and lets them all in while leading Laxus to her bedroom to let Percy down. They both then walk to the living room and Laxus takes a seat on the couch as the three members sit across from him. Mira asks them "Would you like stay for the night? It's getting pretty late." Laxus holds his hand up and thanks her "Thanks Mira but we'll be fine." Mira then goes to the kitchen and prepares some tea for them. As they all sip on tea, Laxus and Mira go to a separate room.

Mira then laments "The council fired Etherion. The target was the Tower of Heaven, another R-System tower near the Caelum Kingdom outside of Akane Resort." Laxus freezes as the statement brings him back to the conversation Mira had the day before. "What happened to the tower?" he asks in alarm. Mira sadly sits down and says "The tower was turned to crystal before the council building was destroyed."

Laxus takes in the information "What about Erza and her team? Were they in the tower?" Mira shakes her head "I don't know. We won't know anything until the military get involved or if they return." Laxus slams his head on the wall "So Percy's dreams can be prophetic. That's not a good sign." Mirajane also comments "I'm worried about Percy. It's clear that he likes Erza and more than just a crush or lust, he really likes her. But if he tries to make a move, he will get hurt as Erza will, without doubt reject him." Laxus walks over to Mira and rubs her back "Erza won't do anything to hurt Percy. I think she has some feelings toward him but due to her rough past she's hesitant to get close to people until Percy came to us. I'll have to ask her to take him down gently if he wants to push things but I think Percy can control himself" Laxus reminds her. "I hope you're right Laxus" Mirajane says as she walks over to her bedroom before lying next to Percy.

Another chapter completed. The Gods have noticed Percy's feelings towards Erza and have seen what would happen to Fairy Tail later on. Also they have hinted to Percy returning back to his world before the events of Tenrou Island. And should Percy survive the prophecy, he would end up a sixteen year old closer to Erza's age. Also I personally think that while kid Percy and Wendy would be cute, it won't work if they're not the same age and Percy will end up a lot taller than many members of the guild.
