Chapter 23: Fantasia and the Sky Dragon Slayer

Unknown Area

Volcanic ash filled the sky as another volcano erupted. Lava flows like river as a massive red dragon surveys the area. A scar dons his left eye as he stares into the sky. He sees a glimmering white light head his way and grumbles. "What is it you want Grandina?" he asks the light impatiently.

Grandina chuckles before declaring "I can't pay an old friend a visit now?" The red dragon stomps on of his feet on the ground snarling "Might I remind you that you are forbidden from coming here?!" Grandina takes on a more serious tone and explains "The boy has been reckless. His string of luck is due to run out and that little brother of his carries far too much of a burden for him to throw himself to danger. I will not say more but he's starting to remind me a lot of you Igneel"

Igneel is torn by the last comments. On one hand, he agrees that Natsu should be more careful now as he watches over the little brat. On the other hand, he definitely did not appreciate the little slight. "BEGONE! You know as well as I do that we cannot meddle in human affairs!" Grandina chuckles as she concedes "I know. All we can do is hope that the humans have the strength to prevail." She ends up flying away but before she leaves she contemplates asking about Zeref but understands that it's still a sore subject with the Fire Dragon King and promptly leaves.

Igneel brings his front legs inward as he lays on the ground. "Natsu, protect the boy with all your strength and then some. He is the key to a brighter future" he thinks to himself hoping the boy he raised hears him

Magnolia

After a few days of rest, Fantasia is ready to take place. Many of the citizens were concerned when they saw quite a few mages being chased by the lovable prankster as they apologized profusely. But the mages did assure them that the event was still happening. All around Fiore people gathered as they wanted to watch one of the most magnificent events on the continent. Ranging from Lyon and his squad, to Erza's childhood friends, even Princess Hisui showed up. When Percy heard that he swore out loud that if a single joke about him and the princess was made he would castrate the jokester on site, a threat which he emphasized by summoning the very same scepter he used on Atlas.

Amongst those attending to watch the show was a young blue haired girl who was chaperoned by a well-dressed white feline. "I understand your enthusiasm child by you must control yourself. After all we are in public" the cat scolds the girl who blushes at being called out. "I can't help it Carla. It's the most popular event in Magnolia. And I get to see them" she explains to her best friend/mentor. Carla takes it in as she also is interested in this event as two dragon slayers similar to her charge. "Yes, Natsu and Gajeel. The fire and iron dragon slayers. We also get to see the other Fairy Tail mages, including one that has supposedly took down Jose Porla on his own. Keep your eye out Wendy" Carla orders her charge who nods enthusiastically waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Out of nowhere the festival begins as massive floats of all kinds made their way down the lane accompanied by dancers. On top of one float, Cana was expertly juggling her cards as Wakaba and Macao used their combined magic to create hearts in which Cana threw her cards precisely in the middle of each one. On another Max, Warren, Jet, and Droy put on a few ridiculous but extravagant costumes that wowed the crowd. Bisca, Lucy, and Levy held flags and waved them around while dancing.

Next were the Strauss siblings. On the float Elfman, in his Beast Soul form, roared at the crowd. At the sound of the roar, a rose on the top of the float blooms revealing Mira in a beautiful dress. A few boys call on her as they each wear a shirt spelling her name out. Mira smiles at the group before transforming into a giant red snake shocking the group. Behind them was a watery float with Gray, Ur, and Juvia on top. Suddenly an ice castle is created due to Gray and Ur. Juvia follows it up by raising water and creating an arc while spelling "Fairy Tail". The group catch the attention of Lyon and Sherry as they watch in amazement.

Freed, Bickslow, and Evergreen were up as they put on a laser show, Freed using his energy swords before launching them at the remaining hearts while Bickslow has his dolls perform. Evergreen twirls in her dress while using a miniature Fairy Leprechaun lighting the sky. On the next float Erza is in her celebratory armor as she circles her swords around the float. She then transforms into a more skimpy dress while donning two scimitars as she dances with the two scimitars in hand.

The crowd looks behind Erza and are greeted with a watery giant "wearing a cape" before pulling it back to reveal a float consisting of three dragon heads, one was red as fire, another was a metallic black, and the third was yellow. On top of the dragon heads were Natsu, Gajeel, and Laxus. Each of the dragon slayers funneled their roars into the dragon heads, forcing the heads to emit a combination of fiery, metallic, and thunderous letters which spell out Fairy Tail. The giant dissolved into a throne which Percy was sitting on as he watched over the masses dressed up as a prince.

Wendy was amazed by the dragon's display as the dragon slayers wowed the crowd. However, she was mesmerized by the water mage that followed them. Not just her but all the girls between the ages of 9 and 14 were attracted to the young prince of water. Hisui herself couldn't keep her eyes off of him, however she would have trouble later on as Arcadios could not teasing her on how the boy would make such an excellent companion to her.

Chaos Realm

Chaos and Nyx enjoy the performances greatly and absolutely adore Percy acting like a true prince. "You know it's a good thing we didn't reveal a certain song that would go well with Prince Percy here. Otherwise he might not be able to look anyone in the eye" Nyx remarks causing Chaos to laugh her heart out at the image and swore she would find a way to recreate this scene.

Order enters the room as he heard his sister laughing and observed the rift. He was startled by Percy's appearance and now understood now why she was laughing. He turns to his sister and remarks "Perseus is not going to enjoy that one bit so please get that image out of your head. Also I have sealed the rift in Othrys and returned Atlas to his prison. You will have to deal with Gaea". Chaos sobers up and leaves the room as she searches for the Primordial of Earth.

Fairy Tail Guild

"Wooh boy, I am not doing that again" Percy swears as he takes off the crown on his head. Mira walks over and pinches his cheeks "But you were so adorable in that outfit. Also they were many girls who were mesmerized by your dashing looks" she teases bringing a blush to his cheeks. Percy is about to retort when he sees Lucy feeling uncomfortable all of a sudden. He walks over to her and asks "Something wrong Lucy?" Natsu hears Percy's question and walks over to the celestial mage noticing her turn to the door. Lucy smiles to the boy easing his worries as she responds "I'm okay. It's just that lately I've felt someone following me. But I'm alright."

Natsu, not knowing why, feels angry and tells Lucy, "I'll walk you home." Lucy, astonished at the outburst tries to comfort Natsu when all of a sudden she hears, "Me too!" She turns to Percy who stands up and places a hand on the table. No one tries to hurt our family whatsoever. So no way am I going to let this go" he states as he packs up and turns to Mira who nods giving him permission to go. Mira then turns to Natsu and asks him "Watch over him okay?" Natsu nods as he and Lucy follow the boy.

Later at Night

Lucy, Natsu, Happy, Percy and Plue walk together as they all head towards Lucy's apartment laughing as Percy talked about one of his pranks. Natsu then asked Lucy to join him and his group on a job that would pay handsomely and even with the amount of the mages to divide the money across, Lucy would still be able to afford her rent. All of a sudden Percy froze as he felt something shift behind them before turning around. "Okay whoever you are I know you're there now either come out or I force you out" Percy snarls as he lifts the water from the running river behind them and creates two giant fists. Natsu smells another person as well as he stand in front of Lucy with his hands ignited.

Suddenly a large figure wearing a black cloak steps out from behind a wall and walks to the group. Everyone keeps their guard up until Lucy examines her stalker. She brings her hand up to her mouth in shock as she recognized the man in front of them. "Father is that you?" she asks shocking the group. The man nodded as he approached them. He looked horrible, his hair was wild, his beard was untrimmed, and his clothes were ruffled. "Lucy it's good to see you again" he says as Natsu and Percy kept their guard up. "I don't understand what happened to you?" Lucy asks

Jude sighs as he answers her question, "Heartfillia Railways was bought out under my watch. My business… my wealth all gone." Lucy's eyes widen at the situation before all of a sudden she hears Jude laughing. "You know I should be really upset about this but I find it really funny. All that work just gone. HAHAHAHA" Jude laughs as the group see how this had affected them.

Percy gets impatient and asks the man "Why are you here though?" Jude looks at the boy and asks him "Can't a father check on his own daughter?" Percy fires back with an angry tone, "You had many chances to do so and that was before you hired Phantom Lord to bring her back which caused a war as Phantom Lord went all out and tried to wipe us out. And you still had chances after that. So why now?"

Jude sighs and explains, "I no longer have the means or influence to hurt your guild again. I realized I made mistakes back then and I want to start over. I don't plan on staying here long. I've decided to join a merchant's guild in Acalypha."

Lucy questions "Acalypha? I've never heard of that town." Percy answers her "It's a few miles from here. Erza told me about it." "Well that's good to hear, well I"

"And so in order to get back on my feet I need some money" Jude says shocking Lucy. Lucy starts to tear up as her father yells at her, "You would help your father right?! All I need is 10,000 jewels and I already heard about your job offer with nine million jewels as a reward." Lucy slaps her father and runs away tears falling from her eyes. Happy flies in her direction to comfort her as Percy and Natsu glare heatedly at the man.

Percy snarls at him "How dare you? The first time she sees you after a long time and you ask her about money? Do you realize how heartbroken she is? All she wanted was for you to acknowledge her as your daughter. But no you keep on thinking about money." Percy runs back to Lucy as Natsu hands the man a bag of jewels. "Here. Five thousand jewels. Enough to get you a meal and a ticket out of here. And if I ever see you hurting her like that, I will make you suffer" Natsu vows as he heads back to Lucy's apartment leaving Jude alone.

The Next Day On a Train to Acalypha

Lucy and Percy sit as they wait for the train to arrive at their destination. As they were heading to the job, Lucy caught wind of the merchant's guild that her father was joining under attack. She asked that she go on her own, but Percy wouldn't let her and together they hopped onto the train.

Percy stands up and stretches his legs. "Alright I'm going to ask for some drinks what would you like?" He asks the celestial mage. Lucy smiles and shakes her head. "I'm fine Percy you don't have to worry" she tries to reassure him. "Lucy you're family and we always look out for family" Percy smiles and he walks out to the next compartment before bumping into someone. "Oh sorry I wasn't looking" he stands up and apologizes as he sees a blue haired girl on the ground with a few boxes laying on the ground. "Its fine I also wasn't paying attention" the girl forgives him before looking up and realizing who it was.

Percy leans over and offers a hand to the girl who is still in shock. She stands up immediately and bows to him "I am so sorry Prince Percy. Please forgive me" she apologizes profusely confusing the poor boy. Percy then realizes what she called him by and corrects her "Oh you were at Fantasia huh. Sorry but I'm not a prince. I do play a good one though. Say, what's your name?" The girl stands back up embarrassed and answers "My name is Wendy Marvel" "Well Wendy my name is Percy Jackson. How about I help you with your boxes ok?" he offers as he grabs a few of her boxes. Wendy smiles and nods as the two walk back to her compartment shocking Lucy who saw the two together. Once they arrive Percy helps Wendy set her boxes aside. "Well I have to go. My guild-mate is probably worried and we're about to reach our destination. I hope to see you again Wendy" Percy says as he walks back to his compartment. Carla arrives and finds her charge smiling. "Well you seem to have had a good time. What happened?" she asks. Wendy then proceeds to tell her the whole story.

Later on

Percy and Lucy took care of the thugs who attacked the guild and watch for any sign of her father. So far he hadn't come out and Lucy was getting worried. Were they too late? As the last member of the guild leaves, she sighs dejectedly and turns to leave. Percy tells her "Wait Lucy he's behind us" Lucy turns around and sure enough Jude is standing there shocked at his daughter's appearance.

Percy walks away and leaves the two of them alone as they have a lot to talk about before shaking in fear. He can sense heavy footsteps as well as a large amount of objects heading towards him. He then remembers that he left Erza without telling her and now she's probably worried. He turns around only to see his reflection in armor. He gulps and looks up at Erza's angry face. "Percy I don't remember giving you permission to run off. So please tell me what was so important you had to leave?" Erza asks quietly.

Inside Percy's Mindscape

Osiris, Obelisk and Ra shiver as they feel the cold grip of death. They know their anchor had screwed up by just leaving the armored mage and now he was about to suffer the consequences. Oh they knew she wouldn't hurt him too much. But hey forgot that Percy never had to experience her wrath until now. And boy was he about to get it.
