"Isn't it strange that not only two gods from another planet but also two super soldiers from the 40's accepted me as being nonbinary but my own mother couldn't? They immediately accepted me yet my own mother, the one who birthed me, still couldn't accept me after years."

It was strange to me, but then again, my mother's a bitch so it makes sense.

"I guess that is weird. But we both know how your mother is." Max replies, both of us staring into space, lost in thought.

We're both quiet for a few minutes as we sit on my bed. Can dead people sit? It seems like they can but they can't actually touch anything.

"I want a kitten." I tell Max. "I've thought about it a lot. After my last cats passed away last year, I haven't gotten any more. And I love cats. Besides, I'm very bored sitting here all alone." I mess with him.

He rolls his eyes, "Alone? I don't think you are capable of ever being truly alone. A cat sounds nice though. They're cute."

'The only problem is that if I get a kitten, I have to play with it constantly. If I get an older cat, they might not like me and I might not get to spend as much time with them before they die. I could just get two kittens. Maybe two kittens and an older cat. That's what I'll do." I decide, pulling on my shoes and grabbing my phone.

"You're doing this now?"

"Well, yeah. If I don't do it now when I'm thinking about it, I never will. Besides, I'll have to go to the store to get food and everything else. Maybe I'll see if someone wants to go with me."

I walk to the kitchen where I find Bucky, Yelena, Natasha, Tony, and Loki.

"Would anyone like to go to the store with me to get some stuff for my new cats and then to the animal shelter to pick them out?"

"Sure, I needed something to do today anyway." Yelena tells me, putting her dishes away.

"I'll go. I was thinking about getting a pet too." Bucky says.

"I will join you as well. I would like to explore more of midgard before my brother and I have to go back to Asgard." Loki replies.

The others in the room politely decline.

"Who said I allow animals in my building?" Tony asks me.

"Well your name isn't on the building." I told him.

"So I just pay for everything then?"

"I guess so, yeah." I smirk, walking out of the room with Yelena, Bucky, Loki following me.

We hop into my Jeep and head to the nearest pet store, which should have all of the supplies that we need.

We quickly find the cat section, where we pick out several toys, a few beds, and a cat tower. We also find food and water bowls, along with the food. I decide to wait on collars until I actually get my cats and can see their personalities.

We walk around the rest of the store, seeing the fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, and reptiles that they sell. None of these interest Bucky and he decides that he would like a cat too.

We head back to the cat section and pick out the supplies that Bucky needed before going to pay.

We pile everything into the back of the Jeep before heading to the animal shelter.

When we walk into the door, we tell the lady behind the desk that we were looking for cats. She leads us to the large cat room before leaving, telling us to find the ones that we want and then just come fill out the paperwork.

"There are so many cats here!" I say, not knowing where to start. Bucky picks a spot to start playing with cats while Loki and Yelena walk around, petting the different cats. I decided to find the older cat that I wanted to adopt first, since there were a lot more older cats than kittens.

I met dozens of cats, all of them were very cute and sweet but I had my favorite. She was a long haired black and white cat. Her chart said that she was twelve years old and had been surrendered by her owner who said she was "aggressive."

I decided that I will adopt her and walk over to the kittens.

Yelena and Loki are both there playing with them.

"They're all so cute!" I tell them. "How am I supposed to choose just two?"

"I don't know. I love them." Yelena tells me, petting two kittens that were asleep in her lap.

Loki is petting a black cat who is sitting on his lap.

I sit between the two of them and start playing with the kittens too.

Almost immediately, two kittens stood out to me. One is a black and orange tortoiseshell with a striped nose. The other is a brown tabby with a white face and feet.

After playing with them for a few minutes, I tell Loki and Yelena about my decision. Both of them agree with me, saying that they will be good fits for me and that they were adorable.

We spot Bucky over by the older cats, petting a long haired white cat.

Once we're all ready to go, we head to the front to do the paperwork.

After a while of signing papers, we are told that we could take all of the cats home today.

We end up with three carriers: one with Bucky's cat, one with my older cat, and one with my two kittens.

We hurry back to the compound with the cats and carry everything to our rooms. I made Bucky promise to ask me if he ever needed help with his new cat, which he planned on naming Alpine.

Yelena helps me carry everything to my room. Loki helps Bucky carry everything to his room before coming back to help us.

We quickly get everything set up and the kittens quickly get adapted to their new home while the older cat will take a while longer.

We sat there playing with them for a while. I decided to name to black and orange tortoiseshell kitten, Evie. The brown and white tabby is named Button. The older cat, I decided to name Ellie. Button, Evie, and Ellie. I like it.

After a while, Loki and Yelena leave and I'm left alone with my new cats.

Hi! Thanks for reading my story! The three cats that Harley adopts are actually based on two of the eight kittens that I'm fostering and the cat that I adopted a few months ago.
