Chapter 4 – Welcome to Duel Academy
11:25 AM, April 3rd, 2005, Academy Building, Duel Academy Island, Southern Japan
After setting their things in their respective dorm rooms and putting on their uniforms, Cecelia deciding to go with the second version of the Obelisk Girls' Uniform (1), she and Lelouch use their PDAs to access the map of the island. Following it, they make their way towards the Academy building and, as they reach the building, the two Kaibas see the mass of students making their way inside.
"Brings back memories, doesn't it?" Cecelia asks Lelouch in a low voice so as not to be overheard. The reincarnated prince nods and whispers back as they walk, Cecelia attached to his right arm.
"Yes; this does bring back memories from my Ashford Academy days," Lelouch says before scoffing as an amusing thought passes through his mind. "If it had been up to our world's Milly, she would have probably built Ashford Academy on an island too. That way, no one would be able to run away from her schemes."
Cecelia giggles at the thought. "I can see it. She would drive everyone insane in less than a week."
Both Kaiba's laugh at the thought before they start hearing the students around them whisper to each other.
"Hey, aren't they Lelouch and Cecelia Kaiba?" One Osiris Red boy asks his fellow Osiris Red.
"Yeah! Did you see their duels in the Entrance Exams? They were awesome!" The second Osiris Red replies.
"Oi, those are the Kaiba Lovers!" A Ra Yellow girl points out to her friends.
"Kaiba Lovers? But they're siblings!" Another Ra girl states, disgusted at the implied incest.
"Only by name. According to what I've been told, they met at an orphanage, fell in love, and then got adopted by Seto Kaiba after winning a tournament!" the first Ra girl explains.
"Really? They must have impressed him a lot for him to adopt them." A third Ra girl comments.
"Man, look at that body! No way is a girl that hot a freshman!" An Obelisk Blue guy comments as he checks out Cecelia, his Obelisk friends nodding in agreement.
"Kyah! Lelouch is so handsome! Like a prince!" An Obelisk girl swoons while checking Lelouch out alongside her friends, who nod in agreement.
Lelouch sighs as he hears the students around them whisper to each other. "Somethings never change."
"True." Cecelia agrees, completely ignoring the whispering of the brats.
Walking into the main building, the reincarnates follow the instructions in their PDAs to the academy's auditorium.
"Lulu! Cecelia!"
The shout of a very familiar voice and a yellow blur are all the warnings Lelouch got before he is tackled to the ground from the front.
Blinking owlishly, Cecelia looks down to see her lover being straddled by a voluptuous blonde wearing the Ra Yellow Girl's Uniform. Said blonde is also hugging Lelouch's head to her generous bosom.
Instead of acting like a girl her physical age would, Cecelia smiles, even as Lelouch trashes in the blonde's hold. "You know, Milly, you might one day kill dear Lulu with one of your hugs."
The Millicent Ashford of this world smiles slyly up at the greenette. "Taking into account the muscle that I can feel on dear Lulu, I doubt it."
Cecelia returns Milly's smile with a grin. It had been quite difficult to make Lelouch exercise, but she eventually managed to hammer into that stubborn head of his that a great mind needs a great body to match.
Grabbing onto Milly's shoulders, Lelouch manages to force his head out of the girl's bust. Breathing in some much-needed oxygen, the brunette then glares at his friend. "Seriously, woman! What was that for?"
Still straddling him, Milly grins. "I was so ecstatic to see you two at Duel Academy that I couldn't contain myself."
Lelouch's eyebrow twitches. "That's not a good reason to tackle me like we're playing rugby! Also, are you going to allow me to get up any time soon?"
"Aww, but I'm comfy!"
The brunette's eyebrow twitches again. "For the last time, Milly, I'm not going to have a threesome with you and Cecelia." Pointing a finger at his girlfriend, Lelouch adds. "She's already enough of a taskmaster in bed. I'm not adding you into the mix."
Cecelia giggles at his true statement. Milly, however, just grins slyly and leans her face forward, closer to Lelouch's. "Are you sure about that, Lu-lu?"
Blushing at her tone, Lelouch curses the hormones of his younger body as it takes all of his will to stop himself from taking a peek at the cleavage he had just been suffocating on, AND not have an erection at what the blonde is suggesting.
"Yes."
"Aww!" the blonde pouts. "You're no fun, Lulu!" Having said that, she supports herself on his shoulders and gets up from his lap.
"Ah, Milly! You can't run off and leave us behind like that!"
At hearing the voice of the girl that spoke, Lelouch freezes as he gets up and his eyes widen, Cecelia reacting the same way. Both look behind Milly, who had turned around to apologize for leaving who spoke behind, and are shocked to see a girl of fifteen years with orange hair and yellowish green eyes, wearing the female Ra Yellow uniform; the same as Milly. Lelouch and Cecelia immediately recognized her as Shirley Fennette, or at least this world's version of Shirley.
'Another!?' Lelouch thinks to himself, memories of his Shirley flashing in front of his eyes, particularly her final moments.
"Ever since my memories have come back, I've been feeling so very afraid. A teacher who wasn't a teacher. Friends who don't have memories to share. Everyone... was just… lying... It felt as though the whole world was spying on me. That's the world you've been fighting for all by yourself, isn't it? All alone. So that's why I... why I wanted to be someone who would at least be truthful to you."
"Lulu. I love you… Even knowing how you caught my father in all this, I simply couldn't hate you. Even though you made me forget everything, I still fell in love with you. Even though my memories were tampered with, I kept falling in love... with you all over again."
'Why?' Cecelia asks herself, shifting her gaze from the Shirley variant to Lelouch. 'Why must we keep coming across versions of the people that we knew before? People who wear the faces of friends and allies but aren't them?'
Standing up straight, Lelouch does his best to put up a mask and hide his troubling feelings; something that he is quite good at doing.
'Hopefully, this version of Shirley is not like Kallen's variant,' he hopes as he recalls when he and Cecelia met their first counterpart of a person that they knew from their past life.
10:00 PM, August 20th, 2003, Crawford Mansion (2), Tokyo, Kanto, Honshu, Japan
"You may have stopped our win with that Negate Attack, but this duel is at its end," says Fubuki Tenjoin as he faces off against Lelouch and Cecelia Kaiba with his little sister Asuka by his side.
Fifteen-year-old Fubuki has dark brown hair arranged sporadically in a fashion similar to that of his sister, with a large portion trailing the upper part of the nape of his neck. Currently, he is wearing a sky blue smocking with a white undershirt, a blue bow tie, and black dancing shoes. On his left forearm is a Battle City Duel Disk.
To Fubuki's left stands a thirteen-year-old Asuka Tenjoin, wearing a long-sleeved blue dress that matches her brother's smock and ends below her knees, a black sash around her waist, black gloves, and black low-heels. She also has a Duel Disk on her left forearm.

Across from them are the thirteen-year-old Lelouch and Cecelia Kaiba. Lelouch is wearing a black smocking with a violet undershirt, a black and gold striped tie, and black dancing shoes. Cecelia is wearing a sleeveless black dress that ends at her ankles, and golden bracelets and shoes. Both adopted Kaibas have Duel Disks attached to their left forearm.

Smiling at Fubuki across him, Lelouch states, "Are you that confident in your victory?"
The brunette grins back at the younger teen. "Of course I am, Kaiba-san! We still have my Panther Warrior on the field and Asuka's Queen's Knight."
Panther Warrior

Type: Beast-Warrior/Effect

As said by Fubuki, in front of him stands a panther Werebeast with dark purple fur. It wears dark-blue armor with golden trimming and red jewels that covers only the upper chest, similarly colored wrist guards, an armored loincloth, a green cape, and yellow boots. It is also armed with a scimitar and a shield that matches its armor.
Standing in front of Asuka is a blue-eyed, blonde woman with red and golden armor. She wields a sword in her left hand and a shield in her right hand.
Queen's Knight

Type: Warrior
Level: 4
ATK/DEF: 1500/1600
"While you two only have a single card set," Fubuki continues, eyeing the hologram of the face-down card in front of Cecelia. "And you have no cards on your hand. The chance of the card that you draw next being of any help to you is the same as you winning the lottery!"
"Don't gloat, Onii-sama. It's unbecoming," Asuka admonishes her older brother with a slight glare.
Fubuki merely smiles at her, "Hey, trash talking has been a tradition of this game since its inception. In fact, knowing how to talk trash is an important skill that every duelist should know. It makes the duel more entertaining for the audience."
"Indeed," Cecelia agrees with a grin. "Just look at Otou-san's duels with Katsuya-san and you will understand the importance of trash talking."
"Aha! Someone that agrees with me!" Fubuki celebrated.
"We can discuss the importance of trash talking after this duel," Lelouch interjects as he draws. Looking at the card, he smirks. "Also, Tenjoin-san, I think I'm going to follow your advice and play the lottery after this."
"What? No way!" Fubuki gasps along with his sister and the crowd of people around them.
Grinning, Lelouch starts his play. "First, I'll activate Cecelia's Premature Burial to Special Summon Kiryu to the field in Attack Position."
The face-down in front of a grinning Cecelia stands up, revealing a card depicting a blue man bursting out of a grave.

A wormhole appears in front of Lelouch and from it flies out a huge red-scaled dragon. It lands in front of the raven-haired teen and growls at the Tenjoins.
Kiryu

"Then, I summon Dark Blade, also in Attack Position," Lelouch continues, playing the card that he had just drawn.
In a flash of light, a knight clad in spiky black and silver armor with a red cape appears at Kiryu's right. In each hand, which are protected by clawed gauntlets, he wields a single-edged blade with a golden hilt and guard.

"With him on the field, I can now activate Kiryu's effect. It allows me to equip him to Dark Blade, which increases Dark Blade's ATK by 900 points and gives him the power to attack my opponent directly," Lelouch explains with a grin.
"Oh no!" The Tenjoin Siblings gasp. The audience starts murmuring among each other at the unexpected comeback of the Kaiba Siblings.
Meanwhile, Dark Blade jumps onto Kiryu's back, standing perfectly balanced as he brandishes his swords while the red dragon roars at Fubuki and Asuka. Some in the crowd take a step back in instinctual fear from how realistic the roar sounds.
Dark Blade
ATK/DEF: 2700/1500
"Now, Dark Blade! Attack Tenjoin-san directly and end this duel!" Lelouch orders, sweeping his right arm forward dramatically.
Eager to obey, the ebony warrior stomps on Kiryu's back, silently commanding the dragon to help him. Obeying, Kiryu lets out a fire breath attack at Panther Warrior and Queen's Knight. The two use their shields to block the flames, but doing so cuts off their vision and allows Dark Blade to jump over the two unchallenged.
Landing in front of a gaping Fubuki, Dark Blade slashes him across the torso with an upward cross swing of his blades.
Fubuki and Asuka's LP: 0
As the black-clad knight fades away alongside the other Monsters, Fubuki gasps and stumbles back dramatically.
"Oh no! I've been killed! I'm too young and handsome to die! Please, someone, save me!"
The elder Tenjoin falls on his back in a 'faint', holding a hand to his chest. His obvious acting gets chuckles and giggles from the crowd and his opponents.
"Onii-sama! Stop with your theatrics and get up! You're making a fool of yourself!" Asuka sighs in exasperation as she reprimands her brother once again.
"Ah! My own sister is abandoning me!" Fubuki continues. "Woe is me! Abandoned at my death bed!"
Chuckling at the older teen's antics, Lelouch approaches him and offers a hand. "As much as your acting is entertaining, Tenjoin-san, we have a party to continue."
Letting a sigh of disappointment, Fubuki grabs the extended hand and gets up with Lelouch's assistance. "If we must."
Once on his feet, he looks down at the adopted Kaiba, "Good game, by the way. That last play was incredible."
Lelouch shrugs off the compliment, "It was all thanks to skill, luck, and having a great partner." He looks at Cecelia at that and smiles. She smiles back at him.
Fubuki looks between the two and smiles as Asuka comes to his side. "I can see that. You two do make a great duo. Planning on entering the Tag Team League, are you?"
Cecelia answers this time. "Maybe. Honestly, I think we will be doing a bit of that and the Solo League once we graduate from Central Duel Academy."
"Well, you're good enough to do both, in my opinion," Asuka interjects.
"I'll say, what a great duel!" The host of the party, Pegasus "Maximillion" J. Crawford (3), states loud enough for everyone to hear as he approaches the four duelists. "Isn't that right, everyone? I'm sure we were all greatly entertained by these four young duelists! A round of applause for all four of them, I say," The billionaire starts to applaud and everyone falls along in doing so.
Once the applause dies down, he continues, "Now, let's continue with this party, shall we? Maestro, if you please?" Pegasus gestures toward the live band he hired and they start playing.
Turning back to the four teens as his guests start mingling and dancing once again, he says, "Thank you, my dears, for agreeing to my request."
"It was a pleasure, Pegasus-sama," Fubuki starts after a small bow. "And fun too. As a duelist, I'm always looking for a challenge and my sister is the same."
Asuka gives Pegasus a bow as well. "Onii-sama is correct. We were more than glad to duel at your party. Especially against such great opponents."
Cecelia lets out a giggle, "I think I'm going to blush if you continue to pile compliments upon us, Tenjoin-san."
Lelouch adds with a smirk at Cecelia, "Yes, please stop. You'll be feeding her ego otherwise and her head doesn't need to get any bigger or it won't fit through the door."
Cecelia slaps the back of his head for that and sends him a glare that promises retribution. In reply, he merely chuckles alongside Pegasus and the Tenjoins.
It wouldn't be until half an hour later that Lelouch would meet this world's Kallen Stadtfeld. He had been talking with a few colleagues of his father when a female voice intruded.
"My apologies," says a voice behind Lelouch. One that he still recognizes even after all these years. Turning around, he comes face-to-face with a thirteen-year-old girl. She has red hair brushed down, blue eyes, and is wearing a fashionable yellow dress with white frills trimmed in red, and a pair of red low-heeled shoes.
"Greeting, Kaiba-san, I'm Stadtfeld Kallen. It's a pleasure to meet you," she introduces herself with a smile and a bow.
It takes a considerable amount of effort for Lelouch to not show his tempestuous emotions at the moment. He already knows who she is and that he would most likely come across her at this party, and he still didn't know if he wanted to meet her or not.
She is Kallen Stadtfeld, second child and only daughter of Markus and Yuri Stadtfeld, sister of Naoto "Nigel" Stadtfeld. The Stadtfelds in this world are the owners of Stadtfeld Gaming, a major gaming company in Europe and the East Coast of the United States of America – and didn't the thought that Britannia didn't exist in this world bring a smile to Lelouch every time.
Kaiba Corp, in contrast to Stadtfeld Gaming, is the major gaming company in Asia and the West Coast of the U.S. For all purposes, the Kaiba's and the Stadtfeld's are rivals. So of course Lelouch and Cecelia were informed about the Stadtfelds during their studies.
It had been a huge shock to them when they found out that the Stadtfelds exist in this world; that Kallen exists in this world. All kinds of questions came with that discovery, but the most important one is: does she recall her previous life as they do?
'I guess I'll find out tonight if she does or does not,' Lelouch thinks to himself.
Having not shown any of his conflicting emotions on his face, the Kaiba Heir smiles back at his Kallen's variant and reciprocates her bow. "The pleasure is mine, Stadtfeld-san. And I must say, your Japanese is impeccable."
"Thank you, Kaiba-san. And I would hope so, considering that I'm half Japanese," she replies with a fake smile. Lelouch catches that immediately and wonders why she's doing it.
"Truly? Well, how may I help you, Stadtfeld-san?"
"I saw your and your sister's duel against the Tenjoin's and I'll say, it was very fun to watch. You're a very talented duelist, Kaiba-san."
"Your compliments are unneeded, Stadtfeld-san, but appreciated. Like I said to Tenjoin-san, that duel could have gone either way. I just had luck and a great partner on my side."
"You're too humble, Kaiba-san. But I don't wish to take much more of your time, so I'll get to the point. I've come here to ask you for a few lessons on Duel Monsters."
The request surprises Lelouch. "Is that so? Why not ask for a proper tutor, though? I'm the same age as you, Stadtfeld-san."
She nods in agreement, a fake smile still in place. "Yes, but age doesn't equal experience or skill, as my older brother says. Besides, though you may not be related by blood, you are the son of Kaiba Seto. Dueling comes naturally to you, I can see it."
'She's trying to use Duel Monsters Lessons as a way to get close to me,' Lelouch quickly deduces her plan. The reason behind it eludes him though. If she remembers her past life, it could be that she wants to talk to him alone to find out if he recalls his past life as well and is using these lessons for that. Frankly, there are better ways to confirm that.
If she doesn't remember her past life though, then this is most likely an attempt at getting close to the son of her father's business rival and that would change things depending on the reason why she wants to get closer to him.
In the end, it's not Lelouch that answers her request.
"We would be delighted to give you a few lessons, Stadtfeld-san," Cecelia accepts for Lelouch as she approaches the two. She has a cup of apple juice in each hand and passes one to her adopted brother before continuing.
"When and at what time would be best for you?" she asks with a smile on her lips. Lelouch for his part just lets her take the reins of the conversation and takes a sip of his juice.
Frowning momentarily at Lelouch and Cecelia, Kallen quickly puts her fake smile back in place, though not fast enough for the Kaiba's to miss it.
"In two days, at my family's vacation home here in Tokyo. Is 3 P.M. good for you?"
The green-haired girl nods in agreement, "We will be there."
"If I may interject myself," another voice states as its owner approaches the trio. "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation."
Lelouch, Cecelia, and Kallen look at the approaching thirteen-year-old boy as he comes closer. He has long spikey black hair and dark eyes and is wearing a dark-grey smock with a white undershirt, a black bowtie, and a black pair of shoes.
"Greetings, I'm Manjome Jun, and I'd like to offer my services in teaching you about Duel Monsters alongside Kaiba-san and Kaiba-san," Jun states with a confident grin.
11:29 AM, April 3rd, 2005, Academy Building, Duel Academy Island, Southern Japan
Manjome-san ended up joining them for Kallen's lessons. Said lessons went well enough, but Lelouch and Cecelia quickly noticed that Kallen was lying about her skills at playing Duel Monsters.
That was one red flag. The second was the fact that Kallen never showed any sign that she had their Kallen's memories and was trying to find out if they had theirs too. Despite the lying, the adopted Kaiba's stayed friendly with this world's Kallen, wanting to befriend for the sake of their Kallen.
That plan went down the drain when the third red flag showed up. While the four of them were hanging out at a café a few days after the lesson, a waitress accidentally dropped coffee on Kallen. The fault was on Jun, who unknowingly pushed his chair back right as the waitress was passing by and tripped the older girl. However, the raven-haired thirteen-year-old at the time didn't acknowledge his guilt and blamed the waitress instead. Kallen followed his lead and blamed the girl, even after Lelouch and Cecelia explained what happened.
Kallen and Jun reduced the waitress to tears and got her fired when the manager of the café came to check out the situation. This didn't sit well with either Kaiba and they made it known. In the end, Lelouch gave the girl the number of Kaiba Corp's Head of Talent Relations so he could find her a job. While he was being thanked by the ex-waitress, Cecelia scolded Kallen and Jun. When both refused to apologize for their actions, she and Lelouch cut off any relationship they may have had with them and left the café.
To this day, Nakamura Chidori still sends Lelouch a gift card thanking him for giving her the opportunity to work at Kaiba Corp. She's one of Seto's best game designers now and is married to one of her colleagues.
"Let me introduce you to each other," Milly's voice brings Lelouch back to the present and he pays attention to her as she introduces this world's Shirley and Nina to him. He hadn't even noticed that the petite green-haired girl was there!
'I need to focus. I can't let her mess with my head,' Lelouch reproaches himself.
"Lelouch, Cecelia; these are Shirley Fennette and Nina Einstein." Milly starts the introductions. "Shirley, Nina; these are Lelouch and Cecelia Kaiba."
"It's a pleasure to meet you two," Cecelia states with a slight bow of her head in the girls' direction.
"Yes, it's a pleasure," Lelouch adds with a bow of his own. The two follow suit with their own bows and both Kaiba's notice that both girls have slight blushes coloring their cheeks.
"In this life, and the next, I'll always fall for you."
Frowning momentarily at the memory, Lelouch states, "How about you two join us at the auditorium? Any friend of Milly is a friend of ours."
Milly claps her hands with a smile, "Yes, great idea Lulu! How about it girls?"
Shirley and Nina are a bit startled, but the former quickly agrees. "Of course, we'd love to."
Nina nods in agreement. "If you're offering…"
Milly gives a little cheer at that and starts dragging the two girls toward the auditorium. Lelouch and Cecelia follow along from behind.
"This is the third time we meet a variant of our friends," Lelouch whispers to his lover as she walks attached to his right arm.
"Yes. I'm starting to think that is more than just coincidences," Cecelia whispers back. "Someone is messing with us."
"I agree. Who though? C's World?"
"I honestly don't know, and I don't like that."
The two stay silent as they mull over their situation. Eventually, the group of five reaches the auditorium and goes inside. Finding some seats, they all sit beside each other and prepare to hear Chancellor Sheppard.
(1) The second version of the Obelisk Girls' Uniform is a female version of the boys with a skirt instead of pants and a blazer instead of a trench coat. Btw, the first version of the girls' uniform – the one worn by Alexis and her friends – doesn't have a mini-skirt but a mid-thigh-length skirt in this story.
(2) I did some research and Domino City is most likely located in eastern Tokyo. Considering how important that city is in Canon, it seems likely that Pegasus would have a home there. It would be bothersome if he lived on his island and everyone had to come and go by boat or helicopter.
(3) In the manga, Pegasus's name is Pegasus J. Crawford. I prefer that one to this dubbed name, as Maximillion sounds too made up in my opinion. So, I've decided to keep the Maximillion as a nickname that Pegasus gave himself. He totally would do that, don't you agree?

Well, that seemed like a good place to stop. So, what do you all think? Good? Bad? I need feedback to get better, people!
At any rate, as you can see, I've decided to focus on this story. By the look of the poll, some wanted me to update this and quite frankly, so did I. I'll focus on this story for a few months while I build up an archive of chapters for the other stories on the poll so I can have an easier time updating them.
