Chapter 3: Frustrations and Suprises

Jane Shepard was frustrated for multiple reasons. Kaidan was treating her like she was made of glass. Every time she tried to make their kisses deeper, hopefully leading to much more than kissing, he would stop, pull her against his chest, and rest his head on her own. At this point she was becoming a champion at cuddling. She was so horny that it was making her uncomfortable. And don't even get her started on physical therapy. She'd been going for almost a month and all she'd accomplished was being able to walk on forearm crutches. And that was only for short distances. They were hopeful that she would walk unassisted again, but with how slow everything was going she was unsure. Not to mention discouraged. At least the hospital was releasing her in a few days to live somewhere on base. That was something at least.

She was so busy with her pity party, she didn't realize that she had started crying out of pure frustration. Something she hadn't done since she was a child. That was when Kaidan walked in.

Kaidan was already worrying about Jane's darkening mood when he walked in on a sight he had never seen before. Jane was crying and Jane never cried. Kaidan hurried over to the hospital bed, sat down next to her, and drew her into his arms. When she started crying harder, Kaidan started rubbing her back. Kaidan had always hated seeing women cry, but this was like a punch in the gut. It was so much worse seeing the woman you love cry.

When she finally stopped, she lifted her head and kissed him and he kissed her back. The kiss started off slow and loving, but when Kaidan felt her try to take it deeper he reluctantly pulled out of the kiss. She began crying again. This caused Kaidan to panic again. Then it was like a lightbulb went off in his head. She was frustrated and she needed him to give her something he had been reluctant to give her while she recovered.

Letting go of the control he was famous for, he drew her into a heated kiss. When she responded he felt his blood boiling with need. Just a kiss from her and he was already half hard.

Carefully he removed her hospital gown and never once stopped kissing her like his life depended on it. He started trailing his kisses down her neck until he reached her right breast and began suckling on her nipple, while he used his hand to play with the nipple of her other breast. She let out a soft moan at the sensations.

His mouth switched breasts while he pulled her underwear off. Suddenly it registered that she was trying to take off his shirt so he disengaged from her to let her finish the job.

Jane started playing with his nipples, eliciting a small gasp from him. Unfortunately, her playtime was limited as he began trailing kisses down her abdomen, paying extra attention to her new scar, and down to the apex of her thighs. He was careful as he opened her legs and settled between them. He spread her nether lips open with his right hand and gave a lick from her opening to her clit. She let out a gasp at the feeling of his hot tongue there. Deciding not to tease her any longer he sucked her clit into his mouth and plunged two fingers into her opening. She writhed on the bed gasping and whimpering as he thrust his fingers in and out of her while he continued to use his lips and tongue on her clit. He felt her tighten and spasm around his finger as she let out a low groan as she climaxed.

As she was coming down from her orgasm he shucked off his pants and boxers. When her eyes opened he was settled between her thighs and looking deeply into her eyes. Gently, he guided himself into her and they both gasped as he was fully seated inside. Kaidan was trying to control his breathing because he could already tell that he wasn't going to last long this time. It had simply been too long since they'd last made love.

Slowly, he began moving in and out of her causing both of them to groan. She dragged his lips back to hers in a passionate kiss that mimicked what they were doing with their lower bodies. Wanting her to come first he used his right hand to massage her clit as he spend up his pace. Breaking their kiss he began trailing open mouthed kisses over her neck and shoulder as he began to lose control of his rhythm. He increased the pressure on her clit as he began to feel the tingling in the base of his spine that always preceded an orgasm. Finally, she gasped and groaned as he felt her spasm around him in climax. That sensation was enough to set him off. He thrust deep as he came groaning into her neck as he held her as tightly as he dared.

When he was finally spent, he slid out of her, rolled to the side, and pulled her to his chest while they caught their breaths. "I love you," he said into her ear after he had covered them.

"I love you, too," said Jane in a tired but happy voice. They both fell asleep satisfied and happy.

Though one of her frustrations had been addressed, as they were now making up for lost time by making love as often as they could, her frustration with physical therapy had not diminished. After one particular grueling session she was in a particularly dark mood and Kaidan knew he had to do something about it.

He proceeded to tell her the truth she was refusing to see. "Jane. I know you're frustrated that you're not where you want to be right now, but you have to understand that you've exceeded their expectations on how well you should be doing right now. You've only been in physical therapy a little over a month and they think you're ready to use a cane to get around. It won't take years for you to get back to normal. You just have to be patient."

Jane sighed and nodded, conceding his point and admitting that the problem was really in her head. She just wasn't used to such inaction and was growing restless. She thanked him by giving him a kiss filled with gratitude.

Finally, she was feeling settled in their temporary home on base, though a little annoyed that Kaidan was throwing a party. Truthfully, she didn't feel much like celebrating the end of the war when she had lost so many friends to it. But he had said, "It's really more of a gathering of family and friends, rather than a celebration." So she caved.

A couple hours later she had to admit it was great to be with her friends all together again. There was much mingling and laughing going around. Even her mother was having a good time talking to Marina.

Suddenly, the music stopped and Kaidan dropped to one knee with a beautiful square shaped diamond ring in his hands. Jane was in shock.

"I once told you that you make me feel human. My whole life I've felt different because of my biotics. People often thought of me as not human and no one got that better than you. Jane, when I'm with you I feel more happy than I've ever been in my life. You challenge me and support me in a way no one ever has. I've never loved anyone the way I love you. Will you marry me?"

Tears filled her eyes, though she refused to let them fall. "Yes." He slid the ring on her finger and pulled her into his arms as he preceded to kiss her over and over as they're friends cheered around them. Some surprises really were good.
