On the rooftop of his new home Beelzemon lay. Eerie eyes trained skyward in a daydream. Had he witnessed the glory of that place? In a snap, his hand curled into a fist. With a frustrated cry, he slammed his fist into the roof beside him. The impact formed a spiderweb-like fissure in the roof.

In an instant, he was on his feet. Without blinking he drew his shotgun. Ten paces from him stood an unfamiliar Digimon. A humanoid lion face set in an angry sneer. The scarred lion simply adjusted his black cap. As he spoke the blade of grass moved between his lips.

"So you're the slacker, have you even trained once?" He growled out

"We take things at our own pace old man." Beezlemon snapped

In a blurry motion, the lion Digimon moved. With a series of blows, Beelzemon was sent stumbling. Hitting the ground his weapon skidded along the rooftop. As the weapon stopped just beyond his grasp the demon was pinned. Looking up he was met with the vandal lion glaring down at him.

"What is your plan now smart guy?" The lion remarked

Beelzemon froze as the blade of a sword met his throat. He had no choice but to submit. With a sigh, he closed his eyes shrugging. Stepping off the demon the lion sent him across the roof with a swift kick. Glaring the demon sat up retrieving his gun.

"What was that for?" The demon wheezed out

"I heard about your fight with SkullGreymon you could have done a better job protecting your partner!" the lion snarled

In an act of pure rage, Beezlemon sprang up. In a blur of motion, he fired off a "Fist of the Beast King". Without flinching the lion simply blocked. Ignoring the burn mark he sneered at Beelzemon.

" There ya go again acting on impulse." He snapped

Beelzemon froze at the sheer might of the lion. At a distant giggling he spun as just in time to see a BanchLilymon leap away

"Focus!" The lion snapped

Down below Nathan had received his own visitor. Sitting across his small table sat a strange man. He was dress in grey pants and shoes and a white button-down shirt. Shades like that of Mr. Knight hid his eyes from view. Taking a slow breath he tapped a pure white digivice on the table.

"I want to start by formally welcoming you to our endless battle. Now that's out of the way I gotta say you're doing a crap job out there."

At his words, Nathan nearly fell from his seat. He had done nothing but fight every Digimon they were alerted to. Sure there was some damage but doesn't cause that in this day in age. As he prepared to argue the visitor rubbed his grey hair and spoke.

"Our goal is limited damages you almost took down an entire building."

He froze as that fight flashed through his vision. In battle with a birdramon Beelzemon and thrown it into the building. With a loud snap, the visitor drew Nathan from his flashback. Shaking his head the tamer could only nod. At the sight of the digivice, Nathan asked a simple question.

"Why the digivice gramps?"

"Consider it like an ID badge, and for the record it's Mr Reaves." The agent stated

Nathan took the device spinning it on the table. Looking closer at it the screen was now showing data. It looked like a download screen of some sort. As the bar moved the device gained more color. When download had finished the device was pitch black with a slate gray ring around the screen.

"What just happened." Nathan inquired picking up the digivice

"It adapted to your partner and linked itself to you both." Mr Reaves stated

"Seems like bullshit science but okay." Nathan mumbled

"I'll be honest I don't understand it either." Mr Reaves stated standing

As he stood the older man checked his watched. Making his way to the apartment door he mentally counted. When he reached zero a loud thud came from above them. Upon reaching the door Beelzemon was heard through the roof.

"You got some nerve ya Jotaro lookin' lion. If this is how you talk to teen rookies I hate to see how you talk to kid trainees."

Gripping the door handle Mr. Reaves paused. Not once did he ever consider be a guide to these rookies. He believed like him they would pick up skills as they fought. He hadn't accounted for the changes the world had gone through in all this time. Slowly opening the door he stepped out. Mid stride he spun to Nathan smiling gently.

"Keep your head up kid you'll get better with training." He stated as he left

"I hope you're right." Nathan mumbled

Falling against the table the young trainer sighed. The sound of a microwave stole the youth's attention. As his head rose he found his partner at the microwave. Resting on the spinning tray sat a hot pocket. As the delicacy cooked it filled the room with the scent of pizza.

"I'm gonna hazard a guess and say you had a jerkass visitor too." The demon stated eyes trained on his snack

"Bingo, called us idiots said we really need to improve." Nathan grumbled

A second later the microwave gave its signal. Sliding into the empty the demon dropped the paper plate. Resting on the plate sat the pizza filled pair. Without hesitation Nathan snatched the other.

"Well then here's to improvement." Beezlemon state raising his food

"To improvement." Nathan replied tapping his food against Beezlemon's
