"What'd you think are these two new guys a problem?"
"There ain't no way they ain't got no rhythm ya dig?"
Smirking the biker tamer a comb through his pompadour. As he fixed his hair he stepping from a dark alley. As he walked his gaze moved to a familiar apartment. Pointing his Digivice behind himself a rift opened.
"I'll give our friends a bit of a wake-up call." He whispered
Stepping out of the moonlight he vanished into the darkness. With the sound of tv static, a digital rift opened. From the rift, a BlackWereGarurumon appeared. Looking up at the full moon it let out a loud howl.
Hearing the howl Annie sprang up in bed. As she sat up her digivice went off. It sat on a table at her side the white body glowing in the dark. Rushing she tugged over a duffel bag. She had to hurry before Nathan found it.
Stepping out into the hall of the new home she sighed. Across the hall, she could see Nathan's digivice beeping. He lay in bed snoring with little care. On her way out she paused at his door.
"Enemy at our doorstep up and at me!" She snapped
Like a switch had been flipped he jumped up. He was at the door in under thirty seconds. With a long stretch, he motioned for her to lead. With a nod, she led him to the alley. As they arrived they found WereGarurumon digging through the trash.
"Oi Crash Bandicoot get out of our trash!"
At the yell, BlackWereGarurumon looked up. Between its teeth, it held a large chicken bone like a cigar. At the sight of them, it jumped back. Mid-air shot a flame blast their direction. With little thought, Beelzemon jumped in front of the blast. Taking the blast he let out a laugh.
"Nice try but you'll have to try harder." He said with a chuckle
Charging toward them the werewolf Digimon swiped with his claws. Mid strike its paw was caught. Pausing it found BanchoLilympn standing over him. Before the hound could react she had smacked him. The smack sent him tumbling to the ground. Standing it found itself looking down the barrel of a shotgun.
"Anything to say before we turn you to code?" Beezlemon asked
"I didn't choose to come here I was pulled here," WereGarurumon growled
"Who sent you tell us!" Annie ordered
As the request left her lips something rushed through the air. A ball of black lightning pierced the WereGarurumon's chest. Placing a hand over his wound the wolf looked up at her. As he dissolved into code he spoke.
"Beware the tamer with the silver monkey." He whispered
"No shit," Nathan muttered
With a huff, Annie absorbed the code. Gathering the last of the code a thump was heard. Looking in front of them they found Justimon. He stood in a crutched pose his fist resting against the ground. From around the corner behind him, Mr. Knight appeared.
"I got a report of a digital rift are you kids alright?" He asked
"Boss the situation has been contained why are you really here?" Annie asked
"We planned to capture the villain opening the rifts," Justimon announced
Glaring at his partner Mr. Knight sighed weakly. They had been seeking this foe for some time. He wondered if he would ever find them. Rubbing his eyes Mr. Knight glanced at his phone. Three tick marks remained there.
"Justimon let's go I'll buy you some barbecue." Mr. Knight said quietly
With an excited fist pump, the hero Digimon cheered. Turning the businessman led his partner away. With a look of curiosity, Nathan watched them leave. Frowning Annie touched his arm.
"Tamers and partners are fighting the clock." She whispered softly
With a sigh Edward Knight led his partner to a black building. Above their heads hung a neon sign. The sigh read "Spirit of Fire Grill." In bright red. Placing his hand on the door Edward paused. As he stepped inside he removed his shades.
The small restaurant was beautifully decorated in a flame motif. The the only table was a large bar style table. The bar was made of an elegant wood that was polished to the point of glowing. On the bar sat an aged photo in a frame. The photo was of the Edward's group well preserved. Next to it sat a digivice turned to stone.
He found Julia already sitting at the bar. At her side her Angeomon had taken its Gatomon form. The feline sat eating a grilled fish. Quietly Edward sat as Justimon dedigivolved to Strikedramon. As they sat a pair of plate of chicken wings slid in front of them.
"I know we aren't celebrating cus ya didn't come in together,so what's wrong?"
"George, we're running out of time." Edward whispered
George the slender ginger behind the grill blinked. Clenching the spatula in a death grip he turned. Resting on the bar he took a shallow breath. Smiling sadly he touched their shoulders. With a gentle squeeze he stepped back.
"Make the most of the time you have." He said softly
Slowly they smiled placing the Digivices on the bar. The devices had gotten down to their final tickmark. The mark flashed like a warning light. Turning back to the grill George returned to his task. The pairs slowly began to talk about about various things.
Sunlight streaming through the windows Edward and Julia turned. Fighting back tears the duo hugged their partners one last time. As their forms began to flicker they digivolved. Taking their true forms them in return sadness radiating from them.
"Be a true a true knight to my princess Edward." Queenchessmon requested
"I swear on my life." Edward promised smiling sadly
"He'll need a got sidekick Ms. Julia can you do that?" Justimon asked
"I've been keeping him out trouble since we were kids." She replied with a sadly laugh
With mutual nods the Digimon pulled away. As they did the Sunlight hit their translucent forms. With a final form they flickered from their sight. In a flash Julia spun Edward. Taking him in her arms she held him close. Clinging to her he let his tears fall.
With a quiet thump a pair of glasses were on the bar. Mist rose from the tall glasses as George poured something in to them. The amber liquid glowed in the early morning light. Quietly he returned to cleaning the grill.
"I didn't think you had so little time." George whispered
"This wasn't supposed to be our farewell dinner." Julia said
She absent-mindedly ran her fingers through Edward's hair. His crying long over he sat resting in her embrace. His mind raced with the memories he shared with his partner and friends. The good times they shared outweighed the bad by a fair bit. His worst was their final mission they had almost died then.
Sitting up Edward sipping from the misty glass. Smiling sadly he swirled the amber liquid. At his side Julia downed her drink. Setting down her glass she let out a laugh that turned into a sob. As her entire body shook Edward hugged her tight. As he gave her a reassuring squeeze she clung to him.
"She was all I had for so long now she's gone, what am I going to do Eddy?" She asked
He was stuck in a momentary pause. She hadn't called him that since they were teenagers. Slowly he pulled away kissing her forehead. At his action she let out a childish giggle. Blushing she hid her face in his chest.
"Easy we stick together like the good old days." He said sweetly
"Sounds like a good idea Eddy." She replied smiling up at him.
