AN: Just want to say a quick thank you to everyone that has followed, favourited and reviewed. Just a quick answer to some of the reviews, yes I know my spelling and grammar isn't the best but I'm typing everything out on a phone and the auto correct on my phone is not the best meaning I've got typos where I wouldn't normally.

As to the review about logia abilities just want to say thanks I had genuinely forgotten about that fact but I've included something in this chapter that came up on the dressrosa arc to hopefully get around that.

Navy Headquarters - Marinesford

Every Vice Admiral was sat in a large and comfortable conference room where they had been discussing the various potential pirate threats.

"Does anyone have any further business to add?" Vice Admiral Momomga asked the assembled group.

Every vice admiral then started to shuffle through the papers in front of them. Several moments later Vice Admiral Doberman spoke up. "Yes, a new pirate crew has come to our attention in the East Blue." Doberman then looked down to sheet his information was on. "This pirate crew's captain has taken down; Buggy the clown who had a bounty of fifteen million, Iron mace Alvida with a bounty of five million, Kuro of the thousand plan sixteen million, Pirate admiral Don Krieg who was worth seventeen million as well as saw tooth Arlong worth twenty million."

With each pirate that Doberman listed off he he slammed their wanted posters onto the table, becoming more and more irate with each one. "From the intel we've managed to gather he took each one out with minimal effort on his part!"

Murmurs around the table broke out as each vice admiral began discussing with each other the potential ramifications to the world peace they fought for.

"Not only that!" Doberman yelled over the murmuring regaining the attention of the assembled vice admirals. "Not only that but he has also killed captain Morgan and beat to within an inch of his life and left for dead captain Nezumi, who both despite various dubious actions and behaviours coming to light were still marines."

"Do we know anything else about this pirate or his crew," asked Tsuru, one of the more senior Vice Admirals.

Doberman was once more glanced down at the papers in front of him before grimacing slightly. "It has been confirmed that he's a devil fruit user, what's more is that his devil fruit is of the logia variety."

Several gasps could be heard around the table because as far as they were concerned while logia devil fruits were not unheard of they were the considered by some to be the rarest and many more considered them most powerful.

"What about his crew," one Vice Admiral voiced from the other end of the table.

"From what we have managed to dig up we have confirmed that Sanji Vinsmoke took down Kuroobi, Arlong's second in command, while only taking minor injuries. The former pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro clashed with Dracule Mihawk who then acknowledged his skill."

Hearing that the Mihawk had acknowledged Zoro as a swordsman drew a few raised eyebrows, as well a a few mutters, as it was well known that Mihawk was an impossible swordsman to please.

"Also he has recruited a prolific thief well known for her thefts against pirates. His crew's marksman is also a capable fighter as shown by his killing of Chew an officer of the Arlong pirates. He has also recruited the man demon Gin, a man with many crimes to his name, as well as two small time bounty hunters."

"There's no doubt it, this is one scary up and and coming crew," Vice Admiral Comil stated with a small amount of amusement in his voice. "You got any more good news for us Doberman."

Doberman bristled slightly at his fellow Vice Admiral's nonchalance. "In fact I do. According to the witness statement provided by Nezumi before his incarceration at Impel Down the captain of the Strawhats has the ability to not only produce lightning from his body but can call it down from the sky!"

Tsuru closed her eyes in exasperation, she really was getting to old to be dealing with this. "So you mean to tell us that not only is he a logia user but he's also and awakened devil fruit user?"

"It's obvious they can't be allowed to enter the grand line," one Vice Admiral stated angrily.

"Smoker will stop them, no pirate has gotten past him since he took that posting." Onigumu waved off unconcerned.

"Maybe so but their actions demand an appropriate bounty. Every single marine needs to be aware of the danger this crew poses." From that statement the entire room devolved into arguments regarding what constituted an appropriate bounty for the rookie pirate crew.

It took four days for the party to wind down on Conomi island and on the morning of his fifth day on the island Luffy woke up once again in Nojiko's bed. Deciding that it was about time he got back to work he tried slipping out from underneath her.

His plan however soon went south when Nojiko wrapped her arms tighter around him. Sighing with a smile on his face he set about carefully removing himself from her grip without waking her up. It took some time but he managed to get out of bed and he quietly gathered his clothes and left the house without awkwardly bumping into Nami.

Luffy made his way into the village taking note of the various villagers collapsed on the ground after a heavy night of partying. Making his way over to where Zoro was snoring while sat against the side of a store.

Luffy then set about waking his first mate up by nudging him with his foot. "Hey Zoro wake up."

"Huh? Oh hey captain not seen you much over the last few days where ya been?"

"We're leaving the island tomorrow, make sure the rest of the crew know." Luffy said dodging Zoro's question.

After Zoro grunted to show he understood Luffy then set about completing his business making his way over to the local law enforcement station hoping to find Genzo.

Stepping into the building Luffy saw Genzo slumped over his desk still clutching a half full bottle of whiskey. Taking a seat opposite him he gently rapped his knuckles on his desk then chuckling when Genzo jumped to his feet in surprise sending his chair flying backwards as he did so.

"Oh it's you what can I do for you?" Genzo grumbled churlish at being woken up.

"I've been thinking the past few days. This island is a long way from any marine base so what happened with Arlong could happen again." Genzo nodded grimly at Luffy's words knowing all to well that his assumption was jot unfounded. "That's why I wanted to offer to put this island under my protection. Fly my flag and if anyone comes to cause trouble ring me on my den den and I'll be back here in a flash, literally."

Genzo believed this to be too good to be true and narrowed his eyes at Luffy in suspicion. "And what's in it for you eh?"

"This island is Nami and Nojiko's home and I don't want anything to happen to it." Luffy said shrugging.

Genzo's eyes narrowed even further until they were little more than two slits. "And just what is going on with you and those two?" Genzo's tone was now dangerous and made Luffy nervous slightly.

As carefree as possible Luffy answered. "Nami's a good friend."

"And Nojiko?"

"Errr not too sure, we've not actually discussed what we are." Luffy said embarrassed and scratching the back of his head.

Genzo didn't say anything for a while he just stared straight at Luffy as if attempting to intimidate the young man. "I suppose we can fly your flag, it should at least ward off other pirates if they see it."

"I'm not sure how much it'll scare other pirates off just yet, we're not exactly well known just yet."

"I think it'll help more than you realise," said a grinning Genzo and at seeing Luffy's look of confusion he rooted around a draw in his desk before pulling out several pieces of paper and handing them to Luffy. "Here these came yesterday."

Luffy grinned manically when he saw them. "It's about damn time," a snort and shake of his head was all the reaction he got out of Genzo.

"Anything else?"

"Yeah, that marine ship at the docks. I was thinking you could strip it down and build a temporary wall around the dock and fortify it with the cannons. Then when you get chance make it permanent with concrete or something." Luffy said shrugging, "It'll at least give you a bit more of a defence."

Genzo nodded thoughtfully along with Luffy's suggestion, honestly he never thought that he would be sat having a civil conversation with a pirate.

"Me and my crew will be leaving tomorrow so if you want we can help strip the ship." At Genzo's nod Luffy got up to leave and when he was at the door he looked over his shoulder and said, "I've already given Nojiko my den den number so if you ever need to get hold me just ask her for it."

The reminder of the fact that Luffy had been sleeping with Nojiko to slam his fist on his desk in rage. "You do anything to take away their smiles and I'll hunt you down like a dog you hear me!" Luffy didn't even falter at that threat as he continued to leave the police station, he just smiled slightly and waved his hand carelessly over his shoulder.

Returning to where he had last seen Zoro he noticed that Zoro had only just got up off the floor and was stretching off the stiffness from sleeping in the street. "Yo Zoro gather up the crew, I'm gonna need you to help the villagers strip the marine ship down."

Sighing and looking at the sky in exasperation at the thought of having to actually do some work Zoro looked at Luffy. "Yeah sure thing captain."

Leaving his crew to complete the task he'd given them he made his way back to Nojiko's home to spend his last day on the Island with her. Luffy was almost back at Nojiko's house and as he was cutting through the tangerine grove he spotted something out of the corner of his eye. It took a moment to realise what he had actually just seen and he immediately did a double take. There, in the middle of Belle-mere's tangerine grove, was a tangerine three times the size of every other one and covered in swirly markings. Recognising it for what it was Luffy carefully took the tangerine like devil fruit from the tree and placed it in one of the inner pockets of his captains coat.

By the time he returned Nojiko was already sat outside on a deck chair with an empty one beside her so Luffy took a seat next to her and began making small talk with her as he took in her natural beauty.

Not long after he had sat down Nami emerged from the house in a bikini and set up her own deck chair on the other side of him. Nami's actions went straight over Luffy's head but not Nojiko's who smirked at the sight of her sister in her most revealing bikini. After all she may love her sister to death and would do anything for her but some things never die and sibling rivalry is one them.

Seeing her sister's smirk aimed in her direction Nami glared at her sister with murderous intent, which sadly for her only caused the smirk to widen. Inwardly fuming Nami then focused on subtly showing off her physique in an impotent attempt to catch her captain's eye.

In fact strangley enough Luffy's eyes only once dipped past her shoulders and that was to admire her tattoo that she got to replace Arlong's mark. This tattoo was a cross between a tangerine and a pinwheel. Nami had it designed this way so that no matter how far away from home she went she would always have a reminder of the two people she loved like parent, Belle-mere and Genzo

The remainder of the day went in the same fashion with both sisters attempting to out do one another and with Luffy remaining oblivious to it all.

Just before Luffy boarded the Merry to leave he had his goodbyes to say. "You can come with me you know, my cabin's big enough for two you know?" Luffy asked despite knowing what her answer would be.

Nojiko laughed and gave Luffy a quick kiss. "This is my home, there's no way i can leave."

"I'll miss you you know."

"Luffy we both know the sea is your true love so go out there and live your dream."

Giving her one last kiss and her rear a quick squeeze for good measure Luffy walked up the boarding ramp and onto the Merry. Looking out onto the dock he saw that half the entire island had come to wave them off and just behind the crowd was the rapidly forming dock walls with his pirate flag flying high and proud above them.

Standing on the top deck of the Merry leaning against the guardrail with the rest of the crew milling about below he bellowed out, "Prepare to weigh anchor!"

"What about the beautiful Nami captain she still isn't here!" Sanji protested.

Before Luffy could respond Nami called out. "Set the sail!"

Looking back Luffy saw that she was stood on the hill overlooking the dock. "You heard the lady, set the sail!" Luffy called out to his crew without taking his eyes off Nami. When Nami saw that the crew was beginning the process of leaving the dock she ran down the hill bobbing and weaving through the crowd as various villagers attempted to get her to stop and say goodbye. When she got to the edge of the dock she gave an almighty leap and jumped onto the Merry that was already starting to sail away.

Now stood on the guard rail of the top deck she lifted up her shirt almost giving Sanji an aneurysm from excitement. The reason for her lifting her shirt up quickly became apparent as dozens of wallets dropped from where she had stashed them causing every member of the gathered crowd to suddenly check their pockets only to discover their wallets had been pilfered.

It was just as everyone realised that their wallets had been stolen that Genzo's trousers fell down and Nojiko grabbed and covered her chest with one arm. Looking back over her shoulder Nami held up a belt in one hand and a bra in her other smirking at her sister at having had the last word in their little war that had taken place of the last few days.

Seeing what she had done Luffy laughed heartily, however he would later admit that perhaps in hindsight it was not the best idea to ask her for the bra as a trophy. The lump on the back of his head courtesy of Nami's fist was all the evidence he needed.

"So where now captain?" Zoro asked.

"Nami plot a course for Gecko islands, we've some business in Syrup Village."

"Aye aye."

Usopp perked up at the mention of his home island and began mentally making plans on how he was going to spend time with Kaya and what stories of their adventures he would tell her so far.

Watching his crew move about the ship as they sailed away from Conomi island Luffy then turned to observe Nami as she brought out a deck chair and set it out in front of the newly installed tangerines trees on the top deck just behind the helm.

"What do you think you're doing Nami?" Luffy questioned her seriously.

"I'm relaxing," she responded her tone suggesting that it was obvious and that she found his question ridiculous.

"Yes i can see that."

"The course is set, I'm keeping an eye on the compass and I'm keeping a weather eye open! I've got time to relax!"

Luffy just chuckled lowly at her setting her on edge slightly. "Nami you stole my ship and betrayed me, any other captain would've keel hauled you."

Hearing this Nami paled, she knew that Luffy wouldn't hurt her but she could see punishment was heading her way.

"Oh Sanji!" Luffy called out in a sing song voice. At his call Sanji appeared holding a maids outfit. "I borrowed this little thing from your sister...not too sure why she had it though," he then trailed off deep in thought. "Anywho because you committed treason I'm gonna have to punish you, sooooo you're gonna be wearing this for the next week while you take care of all the cleaning and wait hand and foot on the rest of the crew."

Nami's already pale face paled even further when she looked at the rest of the crew who were all wearing matching feral grins at her horror.

"You...you can't be serious?"

"Oh I'm deadly serious." Luffy said grinning.

Seeing no other way out of the situation she snatched the outfit that Sanji was still holding and stomped her way back to her private cabin to change.

It was later that day as Luffy was relaxing in the deck chair that Nami had brought out earlier that he gazed out over the ship and saw that Zoro had press ganged the other crew members into his training regime including the haki training he had put together. Luffy could only shake his head in amusement at Zoro's refusal to take no for an answer when it came to training. He then turned his eyes to Nami and he watched as as she scrubbed the deck of his ship on her hands and knees, her short skirt having ridden up slightly and he gave himself a mental pat on the back at the best idea he'd had in a long time.

"Nami! I could do with a drink up here you know!" Luffy shouted down to her and he grinned as he watched her slam the sponge she'd been using back in the bucket and stamping off to get him a drink. Relaxing slightly he leaned back in the chair as he thought about what he wanted to accomplish on the next few islands.

Luffy was shaken out of his musings as a glass slammed down next to him spilling it's contents slightly over him. Her task completed Nami made to leave only to be stopped by Luffy who grabbed her hand and pulled her onto his lap.

"Eep, what are you doing!" Nami demanded.

"Here i just wanted to show you these," and with that Luffy reached into an inner pocket of his captain's coat. "Great aren't they?"

Nami took one look at his grin before she sighed at took the papers from him. Her exasperation turned to horror as she saw she was holding wanted posters.

"Cool aren't they?" Luffy asked with childish enthusiasm. Any argument to the contrary died on her lips when she realised she was still sat on Luffy's lap and Luffy still had his arm around her. Heat crept up her neck and into her cheeks, heat that only intensified as he leaned in and whispered in her ear. "You know you look really good in your poster."

It was true Nami wasn't the most modest of people, she was confident in her sexual appeal but his words brought her happiness as she looked at the picture on her wanted poster. She wasn't sure exactly how the navy had managed to capture the picture as it seemed to have been taken when she was competing with her sister to catch Luffy's attention. Looking at the picture she had to admit she did look gorgeous especially as she was posing with her hands in her hair as she was thrusting her chest out.

The reaction of the rest of the crew was a polar opposite to Nami's initial horror as everyone but Zoro and Sanji jumped about the ship dancing and cheering. Zoro just grinned happily at the sight of his own scowling face on his wanted poster. Sanji however Sanji collapsed to his knees in depression at the fact that his first bounty was smaller than Zoro's and that he looked ridiculous in his picture. This was a sentiment that the rest of the crew shared as in his picture Sanji had a bit a a vacant stare with a lecherous smile on his face.

The rest of the trip passed uneventfully as the group trained and Nami's week of punishment came to an end, the maid outfit she had been forced to wear ending up being surreptitiously being hidden in her wardrobe for a rainy day.

Docking the ship at Syrup Village Luffy disembarked taking Usopp with him. "Zoro you're charge! Nami don't let Zoro anywhere near the helm!"

Without even answering Zoro's protests of indignation Luffy lead Usopp up the road and towards Kaya's mansion.

"So why are we back here so soon captain?"

"I've got something I need to discuss with Kaya," was the simple reply from Luffy. It was also all the information Usopp could get out of his captain as Luffy to give any further details.

The duo waited patiently at Kaya's front door after ringing the doorbell and Merry being the top rate butler that he was promptly opened the door only to gasp in surprise at the sight of the saviours of Syrup Village as Kaya and the young children had taken to calling them.

"Ah Mister Usopp and Mister Luffy, how can I help you?"

"Any chance I can have a quick word with Kaya?" Luffy asked.

"Of course, of course right this this way," inviting them into the house Merry then lead them towards the library where Kaya had been studying so she could realise her dream of becoming a doctor so she could help people.

When Kaya heard the door to the library open she looked up, her face lighting up at the sight of Usopp. "Usopp, Luffy what are you guys doing here?" Kaya asked her face breaking into a warm smile.

"Kaya your beauty once more brings meaning to my life, your smile more warming than a thousand suns." Luffy said theatrically with a bow causing Kaya to giggle at his silliness. "Seriously though I do genuinely have an offer for you," he quickly added when he saw that Usopp was incredibly aggravated with him for his flirting.

"Oh? And what offer would that be?"

"You've already been attacked by pirates once and it could happen again. So if you want I can give you my flag to fly which should scare off the small fry 'round here."

"You think that will help?" A curious Kaya questioned looking at Usopp for his opinion. When Usopp smiled and nodded his encouragingly Kaya agreed for the Island to become part of Luffy's growing territory.

After swapping den den numbers Luffy took his leave and headed back to the ship but not before he told Usopp to enjoy his night on the island and not to do anything he wouldn't do with wink. Both Usopp and Kaya blushed so fiercely that steam practically came out of their ears.

Once back at the ship Luffy handed Gin a small stack of money and sent him into town to restock their supplies before he made his way to the ship's figurehead to gaze out to the horizon.

"Oi captain! Where's big bro Usopp!" Yozuku shouted from the door to the kitchen.

"He's staying the night, just thought I'd give him a chance to woo the lovely Lady Kaya."

The next morning Usopp returned with a huge shit eating grin on his face and walking onto the deck of the Merry he was greeted by a storm of wolf whistles as well as a friendly pat on the back from Zoro. Unfortunately Zoro isn't always aware of his strength and his pat on the back sent Usopp sprawling to the floor.

"Now that the man of the hour has returned!" Luffy yelled to the amusement of the crew, "We can set sail! Nami plot a course for the Orange Islands!"

"The island we came across the clown?" Zoro asked from his place leaning against the main mast.

"Yep, I'm gonna offer them the same thing I have Cocoyashi and Syrup." With their heading established and orders given the Going Merry set sail for the Orange Islands.

The journey to their destination took them nearly two weeks. However it was two weeks well spent in Luffy and Zoro's opinion as the entire crew was able to bond through training. As they neared their destination Luffy was going over in his mind exactly how he could sell his proposal to the mayor of the Orange Island.

As it turned out the hardest part of this endeavor was actually docking their ship. After being attacked and having their town ransacked by the Buggy pirates the entire town was immediately on guard when they saw the Jolly Roger flying over the Going Merry.

Despite the initial hostility once the mayor recognised who the pirates actually were and explained to the townsfolk that they were the ones that drove off Buggy and had him arrested everyone was a lot more friendly. When Luffy was done outlining his proposal to make the Orange Islands a part of his ever growing territory and that if they flew his flag they would be under his protection should they ever need it the mayor couldnt help but nearly rip Luffy's arm off in his enthusiasm.

Once more in his special seat atop the Merry's figurehead Luffy couldn't help but smile in self satisfaction as he thought about the amount of territory he now had. Realising that he'd done everything he wanted to do in this particular sea he decided there was only one more destination left before the sailed for the Grand Line. "Nami set a course for Loguetown!"

"What's in Loguetown captain?" Asked Johnny as he came up from below deck after just having dropped off the last of the supplies he had been told to purchase on the Orange Island.

Luffy turned around from his spot on the ship's figurehead and stared out to sea. "Loguetown is the town of the beginning and the end. It's the place Gold Roger was born and died and it's our last stop before the Grand Line.
