Neb: I do not own DC comics. I am just writing a fanfic and presenting an OC. Read to your heart's content.
A man in a long beige trench coat with a matching fedora headed down south side of Castle Grove City. The man had brown hair, blue eyes, and carried his pistol and his badge in plain view. Under his coat was a bullet proof kevlar vest. He headed into a crime scene filled with ten police officers, two girls who were being questioned by the officers, a doctor, and two reporters with their separate camera crews.
"Detective Reece," one of the officers spoke up.
"Show me the body," the detective responded.
"Bodies this time," the officer explained. "The Beheader really out did himself this time. Usually he targets criminals one at a time so he can thoroughly judge whether or not they are worth taking the heads of, but this group of individuals really set him off."
"Six males," another officer jumped in. "They were drunk, partying at a nearby bar and then they followed these two ladies into the alleyway. They each had their way with the victims and then the Beheader came down. The Beheader was silent the whole time and furious. He chased the six men down this alleyway, cut them off at the end with his chains and then took off their heads one by one."
Detective Reece then headed to the two girls who were crying and unable to maintain eye contact. It was obviously due to the trauma they had endured. "Did you see what the Beheader looked like?"
"You mean Sideslash," one of the two reporters growled. He was a tall black man with dreadlocks wearing a black suit and a red tie. "The Beheader isn't a name to give such a hero and I believe King and Queen News named him first."
"That was the unofficial name," the other reporter smirked. A blonde short skinny man with blue eyes and freckles. He wore a blue tie and a grey suit. "The Chief of Police agreed with Nightly Tower that the Beheader was the better name for this vigilante. As you see all the heads at the end of this alleyway."
"Get these two off my crime scene until I say it's OK for them to come through here," Detective Reece yelled in annoyance.
Four of the officers escorted the two reporters off the perimeter.
"What did he look like?", the Detective asked again.
"Red coat, long and hooded. I think made of wool," one of the two girls spoke up. "He also had a white mask, looked metallic and was definitely an Asian themed mask."
"It is him," the Detective realized. "What did he use as weapons?"
"Chains and a Katana," the other girls responded. "H-he, killed them."
"The Beheader isn't a fan of rapists," the Detective explained. "He rarely cuts off the heads of murders and he's never beheaded a robber or other common thugs. Still, he's taking the law into his own hands. When I find him, I'll have no choice but to bring him in."
"For what?", one of the girls growled. There tears of fear had now turned to tears of rage. "He saved us, and where was the CGCPD? If anything, those men got what they deserved."
"Perhaps," the detective sighed. "Still, cutting the heads off of your victims, even ones as vile as these six men... it's questionable." He headed away from the the two girls and was replaced by another officer. The detective headed out of the crime scene and around the corner before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it. He inhaled deeply making sure he got a lot from this drag. He then exhaled and despised of his cigarette. He turned his head to see a young man who looked like himself when he was younger. Brown hair, blue eyes, wearing a white sweatshirt and grey sweatpants.
"Excuse me officer," the boy spoke up.
"Detective," Reece corrected the boy.
"Right sorry," the boy apologized. "I am Alec Bridgeend and I am writing a blog about Vigilantes in Castle Grove city. I was wondering about the Beheader, is he really someone we want protecting our streets?"
"Let me answer that question with another question," Detective Reece responded. "What do you want out of this story? Are you writing about a murderer or a hero?"
"I believe that depends on what I find out about him," Alec smiled politely.
The detective pointed to the crime scene. Specifically where the headless bodies were. "That should provide enough insight."
"It actually raises more questions," Alec continued. "Why does he choose beheading? What does he get from murdering criminals?"
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Reece explained. "Playing judge, jury, and executioner generally means you have a god complex. Unlike that other vigilante."
"Other vigilante?", Alec pressed.
"The other vigilante mainly goes after drug traders," Detective Reece explained. "He or she is one hell of a fighter when it come to close hand combat. He never kills his victims and prefers methods of immobilizing his opponents. The department is calling this one Red X. Now if you don't mind I have a crime scene to get back to."
Alec stared at the detective as he walked back to his crime scene. "I've been identified."
