Chapter 2: The Tulparian Dynasty
With great power must come great responsibility. With my powers, I have taken Princess Celestia's place in bringing the sunrise and the sunset. My wife and queen brings the rising of the moon. With her work done, she often comes to bed and snuggles with me. She is so soft and so warm. Such things come when a love between two is pure, and true
It can be the love of two stallions, or two mares. It matters not. When the day comes, I bring the sunrise to begin a new day for all the kingdoms. In the morning, sometimes one of the maid-mares makes breakfast, and other times I do. I never want to appear as lazy, and let others do my bidding. The maid-mare 'Feather Brush' looked busy with tea
"My king!" she gasped startled
She almost dropped the teapot. Luckily, the reflexes in my magic stopped the pot from shattering on the marble floor, "That was a close one," I said, and smiled to let her know that she did nothing wrong. Feather Brush is a light brown mare with a dark brown mane and tail, "next time put the teapot down, and then bow, first things always first, dearie"
Feather Brush is not as big as my wife, but she is of a good size and large-of-flanks with a feather duster as a cutie mark. Today, I was making breakfast while Feather Brush is busy with today's afternoon tea. I made a lovely spinach and mushroom frittata with feta, and some buttered toast on the side. Feather Brush smiled, "Breakfast for the Missus?"
"Just being thoughtful," I replied with a wink, I looked forward to tea today. Feather Brush makes unbeatable egg salad, and ricotta cheese cucumber finger sandwiches. I went to the bedroom as Estrella was waking up, and presented her with breakfast in bed. She thanked me, and nuzzled my muzzle with an added kiss before she partook in the meal.
My wife is never the type to sit around on her throne. In the morning, she will go for a morning flight and go for a trot and jog on her hooves to keep herself in shape. I do not ask her to do so. It seems to be one of her hobbies. I closed my eyes, and opened them as I made my way toward the balcony, "My king...you seem troubled," stated my queen,
"I question myself as I wear Equestria's crown, as King, the First King, with you as my Queen, the decisions that we make shape how the Ponies will feel about us, when a pony hears the word 'King', it is Sombra that comes first before even me or King Thorax, I have won the trust of Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna, but what of the Ponies?" I asked
"You are a good king," said My Queen
"And a good stallion," said Feather Brush
"See? She has faith in you," said Estrella
As I ate with her, it reminded me. Today was going to be a big day. I have a meeting with the school board to discuss a new lunch menu for the schools, and I have invited King Thorax to the castle for tea today. My wife also invited his queen, Ulna. Also I am meeting the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. This day is full, and I will make the best of it.
First came our meeting with the Elements of Harmony at the very tree where they all reside. The guards saluted with a hoof touching the staff of their halberds as my wife and I passed by. We flew to see the Tree of Harmony. What a wondrous sight it is to behold. Princess Twilight Sparkle smiled and bowed "Good to see you King Lumino, Queen Estrella"
"With all of the times you and your friends have saved Equestria, it is us that should bow to you and your friends, Princess Twilight Sparkle," said Estrella, and we did just that. My title as 'King' was bestowed upon me by Princess Celestia just as Estrella earned her title as 'Queen' by Princess Luna. I know the titles have a certain sigma to go with them.
I feel it is my duty, and the duty of the queen, to keep Equestria in the same state of peace and harmony as it once was under the rule Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, "You must understand the challenges you and your wife will face among the Ponies, the Ponies have only known the rule of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna mind you," said Rarity,
"That being said, we'll help you along the way the very best we can," said Applejack, "it ain't gonna be a sprint to the finish line when it comes to earning the trust of us Ponies," I know she is right in saying that, "Princess Celestia and Princess Luna wouldn't have chosen ya two if they didn't see themselves in you, it ain't gonna be easy, but you'll earn it"
"What must I do?" I asked of the Mane Six
"Stand on your hooves," said Rainbow Dash
"Rainbow Dash!" Twilight Sparkle scolded her
"What she says is true, If I cannot stand on my own hooves, and make decisions that My Queen and I will make that will benefit all, not just the Ponies, then we will be seen as weak-willed," I explained to this group of ponies that are all the very best of friends, and personify the very best in the core values that make Equestria such a magical kingdom.
"You both have a great responsibility to the throne, and we'll be here for you," promised Twilight Sparkle, It was been two days since the coronation, and I feel like I am ready to take on my responsibilities. I flew back to Canterlot to attend my meetings. My meeting for the day was with the school board in discussions of healthier lunch options in schools.
Lumino sputtered eating the food "Bleh!"
"Is this what the students are eating?!"
"Something must be done," said Estrella
"And so it shall, from this day on, I decree that food that is served in the cafeterias of our public schools must be served a diet that is 70% organic and food items used in the preparation of school lunches must be locally sourced," proclaimed the king, this went over very well with the school boards, and was a sign of great things to come for Equestria
